Icepath Grieving Together w/Bubblingstar
Icepath sat nearby, she run her paws over the body one last time, adding the final herbs. Hopefully they would be strong enough to mask the scent of death. Her heart ached for the fallen deputy, Bramblespots was someone she had respected, grown up beside, and...cared for. Though Icepath didn't have many close friends in the Clan, Bramblespots was one of them. Was. The healer thought bitterly, her teeth gritting as she stared at dressed wounds along her body. If only she had taken that open more seriously, if only she had looked into it more. If only.... It was then Icepath's frosty gaze met Bubblingstar's. She bowed her head respectfully as she padded over to join the tom, her eyes narrowed. The molly sat beside him, tail curled tightly around her white paws as she stared blankly at Bramblespot's body. She didn't speak, her cracking voice didn't make an echo against the camp walls. Instead she sat in silent respect for the fallen deputy, and the leader beside her.

Icepath A Frozen Heart w/Scarletdrift Gingerly, the healer left the cavern, her fur spiking when she spotted Scarletdrift's white coat. It smoothed quickly once recognition dawned on her. Icepath bent over one of the mushrooms and plucked it from the ground, the base making a satisfying pop as it came off. A long, white claw sliced through the mushroom cutting it in half. Carefully, trying not to spill the glowing liquid from inside the shroom, passed half of it to Scarletdrift.
"This one is good to eat," Her jaws snapped over her piece, devouring it within seconds. "Snow Caps," She said the name, not wanting to explain the herb's uses and such. Now was not a time, her mind was on other things. The words were on her tongue, the words she longed to tell someone, anyone. But Icepath didn't wish to burden a warrior with past omens and sour their faith in their ancestors above.
OOC: I've created a new herb is that's alright! The Snow Cap Mushroom, I wanted an excuse for edible, glowing mushrooms.

BUBBLINGSTAR - VIGIL The ginger tom blinked gratefully at Icepath as she settled in besides him. This must've been much harder for her, Bubblingstar had seen them share tongues a few times. Stars above, he'd failed them both. BUBBLINGSTAR - BORDER PATROL Bubblingstar tilted his head, flicking an ear as he paused to listen to their surroundings. He didn't hear anything- but Spottedfur was a reliable cat, generally. Bubblingstar would have to apologize later for his harshness earlier. Bramblespots' death has admittedly been weighing heavily on his mind. " What did you hear?" he asked the other tom softly.

Scarletdrift -x- - --- - -x- Scarletdrift was relieved when Icepath came out of the crevasse. Every minute she stayed in there, he grew more and more uncertain if he should remain outside or if he was expected to help her... somehow. He was glad he hadn't had to make a choice.
She looked jumpy so he let her have some space. Yeah, there were totally ghosts in there. He couldn't help but look over his shoulder as he followed her back into the clearing of herbs, like something was going to follow out of there. It hadn't been big enough for anything else to fit, he knew that, but it didn't stop him from feeling like eyes were watching from the darkness. He had to stop himself from shaking his fur, as if there were snow prickling atop his pelt.
Icepath picked one of the mushrooms--a glowing one, one of the ones he'd been eying earlier--and sliced it in half. "This one is good to eat," she said, pushing half his way. "Snow Caps."
Up close... he sniffed the mushroom, tapped it with a paw. The liquid inside was glowing too, which was weird. In the dimming sunset, the mushroom looked brighter than the ground around it. He was almost too hesitant to taste it, but Icepath was quick enough to eat it so it wasn't like he had a choice. "Shouldn't we be saving the magical glowing mushrooms for those who need them?" he asked, more to give himself a few more seconds to get used to the glow.
Before he could second guess himself, Scarletdrift chomped the mushroom. He was surprised to find it was almost bland, tasteless. "It just tastes cold," he said, surprised. "Like licking an icicle, but less wet." He shook his head, his tongue tingling slightly; it wasn't bad, but it was weird.
"Uh, do you need my help picking herbs? We should probably get going back to camp soon. It's getting late," he said, not at all because the idea of ghosts and darkness have him looking for eyes in the shadowy brush. Not at all.

Icepath Grieving Together w/Bubblingstar "You seem more troubled than usual, Bubblingstar." Icepath's cracking voice was soft and slow, as if she was learning to speak. Bramblespots's death was strange and sudden, shocking everyone when the limp, lifeless corpse had been brought back to camp. There had been no warning to the Clan of the tragedy, well, to most there was no sign.
Icepath sighed softly, turning her almond-shaped eyes to Bubblingstar, concern and sympathy shimmering in them. Her tail twitched curling behind her and leaving her paws to confront the bitter cold of the night.·̩̩̥͙**•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚*·̩̩̥͙ Icepath A Frozen Heart w/Scarletdrift
"Most won't eat them, but they are a good source of energy." Her chilling voice sounded distant, as if she was really far away. Her eyes had been come over with a fog, dark and heavy. Her ears swiveled, she could hear him speaking, but it didn't seem important at the time. The small whispers, the biting cold, the glowing eyes, it was haunting her. The healer had never had a thing for spirits, not like her mentor did, in fact she felt a little afraid of them when in their presence. The ghosts couldn't harm her, but they had such monstrous forms in her eyes that she didn't even want to look at them. Icepath was determined to get through that fear however, if she had done so earlier, then maybe a certain cat would still be alive.
"Yes," She nodded, her tail swaying. Icepath didn't know which of the tom's questions she was answering, and to be honest, she didn't really care. Her gaze was locked on some blackberry plants. A single claw was carefully cutting off some of the berries and leaves, leaving a clean slit where the part had been before. Her long fur easily picked up any extra plants, would either prove useful or bothersome in the next hour.
Once a decent amount had been collected, the molly pushed some to the warrior. She wrapped the berries and leaves in a small moss bundle, just a little smaller than a cat's mouth. She took up her pack, the silver-gray healer set a slower pace. The trail was also harder going down than up, and she didn't want to waste anything on minor injuries.

TheKeenGlint Brownie Icepath Chased Out w/ Stormkit
The molly revealed herself, blue eyes, cold and restless ,as she eyed the kitten. Grief was in her step and an unreadable emotion in her snaking shadow. There were dark circles below her eyes that nearly blended into her mask.
"No, little one," Her ears were flat and she stared at Stormkit. "I just need...need to be alone right now," Her cracked voice was pained, yet she stayed half-dwelling in the shadows, hiding within the grief that had swallowed her.
Stormkit
Icepath's eyes focussed in on Stormkit, their now-familiar blue hue glacial enough to freeze her over. Despite being assured that there would be no grave consequences, a cloud of regret still hung over her head.
Bramblespots' death was hard on Stormkit too, of course it was. But of all the cats of YewClan, her bond with him was the weakest, so her way of dealing with it was simply to move forward. She would probably ask to hear stories about him in future, but now was clearly not the time, and the fact of the matter was that she had intruded, even if she lacked ill intent.
"I'm sorry... I shouldn't have come into your den without persimmon," she replied, not intending to mispronounce 'permission'. "Are you sure I have to go?" Her ears drooped and she tucked her little tail between her legs as she made a last-ditch effort to try and support Icepath. "Is there anything I-"

The molly raised a paw to silence the kitten, her gaze dark as she hung her head. "No," Her fur was ruffled and unkept as if she had groomed it the wrong way.
"I just need you to leave," Her already shatter-sounding voice cracked in pain and grief. Her tail fur bristled and she glared at Stormkit coldly. She didn't want to hurt the kit's feelings, she just wanted to be alone. The darkness in the back of her den was comforting, it was cold and empty as the hole that the deceased deputy had left. There was no way she would burden any cat with her grief, much less Stormkit.

[[ gooooood morning yall!
Also we are gonna need to have a discussion about pacing here. I do like the idea of three moons a week, because a year a month feels really nice, but that does mean that the next moon is going to be 24hrs from this post. Is that too soon for yall? esp because two players haven't even gotten their major event prompts up yet.
And I know this will be an adjustment, but yall are allowed to go faster than a normal rp with the major event prompts/starters; they can (and probably should) cover the entire patrol (or event) without a cliffhanger. This is mostly because there's only 2/3 days for people to complete and waiting on responses in that time period (esp if there's more than one other player that wants to respond to it) just... isn't going to happen. If we do want to get through these events and conclude them in a satisfying way, the first poster is going to have to summarize the entire event so that when people respond with their cat's reaction, it can feel like a completed scene between the two replies. If that makes sense?
Smaller patrols, like the healer's patrol and training patrols, can be a little more flexible. And minor events and scenes, like the relationship pip interactions, can also be slower because it's less important that those are "finished" and less likely that a third party will want to react to them.
I really don't want to be pushy with how this thread is "supposed" to go, but it's gonna have to proceed in a way that is both a) quick enough that the moon's events can be done in a few days and b) works with people's busy schedules, time zone differences and activity levels. I really don't want to be cutting off every events before they reach the decision points if I can at all help it. I can totally put up an example of what I was thinking this format would look like if that would be helpful to anyone?? Or if anyone has a better idea of how to handle finishing scenes in only one back/forth style lmk I also don't want to force people to be active 24/7 to participate fully in this game ]]

(( I like the way the pacing is supposed to go, 3 moons a week i think will be fine... I don't think you're being pushy, your reminder is nice because it's just reminding me this roleplay has specific requirements I need to keep up with! Because this does have a way it's "supposed" to go and we were all aware when we signed up. So thank you! For me, I think I will just have to get used to the format, since I've never done anything like this before. Maybe after a few moons we will all understand the pacing and patterns better and get a hang of how to go about it?
Sorry, I am going to write posts for Beesong rn! Thursdays I have an evening lab class and I ending up working on that assignment last night until i went to bed zzzz ))

Beesong - stung by a bee - Beesong padded along the path, a soft sigh escaping her jaws. Her tail twitched continuously, giving away her nervousness and irritation. She'd just been chasing a mouse near the border and ended up following it further than she should have gone, where she'd never been before. Thankfully, she was able to spot familiar markings and make her way back, but not before panic struck her heart and gave her a scare. Now she was on familiar land and making her way back to camp, but in a bit of a jumpy mood. Noticing something out of the corner of her eye, Beesong paused to get a better look. A patch of beautiful yellow flowers growing among the roots of a tree. "How lovely," she purred aloud to herself, then stood still for several moments to just take in their beauty. Deciding she would take some back to camp, she began to search for the prettiest ones, using her nose to shift through the patch of flowers. Just as she found the perfect one and put her teeth around the stem to cut it away, she felt a sudden and sharp pain on her nose. "Ouch!" She squealed and hopped back, pawing at her muzzle with her paw for a second to try to wipe away whatever that was. She noticed a bee buzzing away from her, back to the patch of flowers, and swished her tail angrily as she turned to leave them behind. By the time Beesong had climbed the trail to YewClan's camp, she could feel that her nose was swollen from the bee sting. She walked into the clearing of camp, head and tail low, hoping nobody would pay too much attention to her. It was a bit embarrassing and she just wanted to lay down in her nest until her nose felt better.
Beesong - conversations with Icepath - @swaggycassie
Beesong had just returned from a hunting patrol, where she'd caught two pieces of prey: a juicy rabbit and a mouse. As she set the catches into the fresh-kill pile, she eyed the rabbit carefully. It was about time for her to have a meal herself and the rabbit looked tasty, but a bit big for her to enjoy by herself. She would have to share it with someone. Dipping her head to grab the rabbit once again, she turned and trotted towards the medicine cat den. She paused at the entrance and dropped the prey to call into the den, "Icepath, are you in? It's Beesong." Bramblespots and Icepath were close friends, anyone in the clan could see that. The medicine cat must be going through a lot this moon, dealing with grief along with the stress of keeping up her duties. After announcing her presence, Beesong picked up her prey once again and ducked into the shrubs of the the den, wrinkling her nose for a second as the potent scent of herbs flooded her senses. She glanced around before spotting Icepath and stepped close to the silver colored she-cat, dropping the rabbit between their paws. "I caught this rabbit while I was out hunting, and I thought you might like to share it with me..." She offered, with a gentle smile. She glanced around the den, wondering if Icepath had gotten out at all today. She personally wouldn't be able to handle staying inside the hollow for too long, surrounded by all the mingling herby scents. But it wasn't up to her. "Do you want to lay out in the sun, or we could stay inside?" She looked back at her companion, meeting her eyes with another warm smile. If Icepath needed her privacy, she would respect that.

Icepath Conversations w/Beesong
Icepath straightened herself as another's voice, besides the whispering of Bramblespots's and the crying of her own, echoed in her ears. The gray smoke purred her greetings, giving her fur a couple licks and wiping away any signs of sorrow. She listened carefully, licking her lips at the sight of prey. Despite the grief having softened, it still ate her away at her when she was alone in her hollow.
Her voice lacked the cracking sound it normally made, instead it was replaced with a soft rasp. "No, I don't mind leaving the den for a while." The molly shrugged, though she didn't want to leave her den, she knew it was better and agreed.
Reluctantly she followed Beesong to a secluded part of camp, under a small, rocky overhang, under the very large shadow of a leaning confer. She curled her paws under her and let her tail fall lazily beside her as she hungrily eyed the rabbit.
OOC: Am I just imaging it or did the comment get removed?? I thought Brownie posted the cat platforms. I can't remember though.

Scarletdrift mourning
-x- - --- - -x-
Bramblespots didn't look dead, at least not from here. Scarletdrift couldn't convince himself to go closer, not with Bubblingstar and Icepath nearby. Instead, he found a spot on the edge of camp and sat in silence. Usually it was hard for him to keep still for any length of time, but in this instance he thought it would be impossible to get up even if he'd wanted to. He felt stuck to the ground.
-x- - --- - -x- -x- - --- - -x- Scarletdrift always noticed when Beesong returned to camp. It wasn't like he held sentry every time she went out, pacing and fretting for her safety--she was a warrior, she could handle herself, and he wasn't the type to hover, it was a bad look on him--but unlike Frostfleck, the seed of parental worry never quite went away with Beesong. It was like... whenever he couldn't see her, there was always an awareness that he couldn't see her, somewhere in the back of his mind. He felt protective of her in a way that he didn't with Frostfleck.
So when he got up from his nap, stretching, seeing Beesong for the first time since she'd left camp that morning, he took notice.
He didn't always acknowledge her past a flick of the ears or tail, letting her do her own thing, but today she looked like she was hiding, head and tail low, avoiding the more populated centers of camp and sticking to the edges. That seed of worry grew and Scarletdrift hurried over. "Hey, lil' sun. What's up?"
-x- - --- - -x- [[ OOC : For context too, Scarletdrift has a lot of pips for platonic love for Beesong, but has a lot of respect and comfort ticks for Frostfleck. He is super proud of Frostfleck but to him, she's the older sibling and Beesong is the younger daughter. ]]

ooc;; will definitely take some time for me to get used to the faster paced format, but we'll get there eventually! i think everyone's trying their best to give everyone space for their own replies so it might seem a bit slower :3c BUBBLINGSTAR - Icepath The tom let out a deep sigh, glancing back down from Icepath's concerned gaze. He wanted to confide in her, but Bubblingstar wasn't sure if it was wise to burden the she-cat. He smiled thinly, trying to scrape together some of his usual warmth from the pieces of his turmoil, " Deaths are...you always have to wonder, as a leader, if you could've done something different." Bubblingstar looked out across the camp, flicking between the cats milling about. Scarletdrift had settled a ways to the side, and he gave the warrior a small dip of the head. " I'm the one responsible for the clan's safety," the ginger tom glanced up at the evening sky, " my choices have-" Bubblingstar's voice cracked, " weight."

Icepath
She weighed Bubblingstar's words carefully, her ears flat against her head as the realization of the situation sank deeper into her core. Her tail twitched slightly at the change in his tone, but ignored it and continued listening, mind open. Icepath was surveying camp, watching the cats leave the clearing to continue with the day or to mourn privately, nodding to Scarletdrift as he sat by himself.
"Perhaps," Though she could understand his worry and the burden he must feel, Icepath was aware that saying those words might anger him. She stayed silent for a moment, deep in thought, before her naturally-cracked voice returned. "Perhaps we all could've, but blame should be placed carefully." Icepath's words formed swiftly, she didn't even know who she was speaking to, Bubblingstar or herself.
The knowledge that she had received an omen predicting this weighed heavily on her shoulders, perhaps the same as Bubblingstar's burden...? For a moment her jaw opened, as if to speak, but it shut quickly and she grit her teeth to hold back the silent cry.
Icepath stood, stretching and heading to her den to prepare for tonight's burial, but mostly to hide within the stone-and-soil walls of her burrow. Her cold blue gaze fell upon Bramblespots's body one last time, taking in the fact that her friend was really...dead.
"If you ever need anything, Bubblingstar, my den is always open."

Beesong
--------------------------------------------------------------------- - converations with Icepath - @swaggycassie
Beesong purred softly when Icepath agreed to share the meal with her, grabbing the plump rabbit and leading the medicine cat out of the den into camp. She chose an area of camp that was a bit more secluded, under a rocky overhang, to give the two more privacy. She wasn't quite sure how social Icepath was feeling. Settling down across from her and placing the prey between them, she mimicked her posture and tucked her own paws under herself, shifting into a comfortable position. She motioned towards the rabbit with a flick of her ears, indicating Icepath could take the first bite, and once she had she took a bite herself and chewed thoughtfully. Looking across at the medicine cat, she wondered if she should say something. She wasn't sure if Icepath was willing to open up, or if she wanted to share their meal in silence. She waited a few moments before deciding to speak up. "The warrior's den feels so empty without Bramblespots, I miss her." She said softly, glancing across camp towards the mentioned den before returning her gaze to her companion. "I know you two were close - I'm so sorry. If you ever want to talk, or share memories of her... I'm here." She kept her voice soft and watched Icepath's expression carefully, ready to back off if she appeared to not want to be bothered about the subject.
--------------------------------------------------------------------- - beesting with Scarletdrift -
Beesong was successful in avoiding the attention of all but one of her clanmates. She wasn't sure how, but Scarletdrift always seemed to know when something happened or when she was upset, and she grew to appreciate and seek his comfort during those moments. So when her father approached her and she heard his voice, his familiar scent surrounding her, she instantly felt a little safer. She sat down in front of him, curling her tail tightly around her body and raising her head to reveal her nose - still slightly swollen from the bee's sting. Her whiskers twitched and eyes blinked at him, as she tried to hold back her emotions, but decided to speak and tell him what happened. "I just had a bad day... I was chasing a mouse and crossed the border by accident." She explained, avoiding eye contact. She left out the part about how she briefly got lost and how scared she was. "Then on the way back I got stung by a bee." Her tail fluffed as she finished, looking back up to meet eyes with the tom. ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Spottedfur — border patrol — with Bubblingstar, Beesong & Mudspeck
Spottedfur felt insecure, realizing that his clanmates hadn’t heard a single noise. Maybe he was on edge due to Bramblespots’ death. For all he knew, the noise might have been nothing. With a shrug of his shoulders, the senior warrior glanced towards the other side of the border. ”I thought I heard an odd noise,” he admitted while raising his voice.
The silver speckled tom shook off some embarrassment. His gaze lingered on the border once more before Spottedfur spoke again. ”I guess I was hearing things,” he responded to the patrol. ”It’s nothing. Let’s just move on and mark the border. There’s no reason for us to waste time.”

Bubblingstar managed a quiet of course as the medicine cat slunk off to her den. He wavered, considering, before subtly shaking his head. The tom hunkered down over Bramblespots cold body, settling in for the long night ahead.
Glancing around the undergrowth around them, Bubblingstar hummed. Spottedfur was leading this patrol after all, he would respect the warrior's call. Perhaps it'd been a false alarm.

Icepath Conversations ~ Beesong
The nodded politely, listening carefully. Icepath forced her coat to stay smooth underneath the warrior's searching gaze. She made a small grunt to signal her agreement with the warrior, claws digging into the soil as she fought to keep the omen from her mind. She looked up at the overhang, studying the curves and grooves in the bark, needles shimmering with dew from last night's drizzle.
"I'm just...sad." Her cracking voice didn't speak words of wisdom or of care, but words of genuine emotion. The sentence had not been thought over a thousand times, remade until it would come out perfect, it was how she felt. Her cold blue gaze was soft and shimmering as she met Beesong's eyes. "I'm sad." She wanted to speak of the omen, but she didn't think anyone was ready for that, they never would be.
They would never want to know that their medicine cat was a failure.

Stormkit
Stormkit's desire to be helpful and provide a listening ear was an asset, most of the time. But Icepath sending her away today taught her a hard truth. Sometimes, the best thing to do for another cat is to leave them alone. Interfering too much would only make things worse.
"...Okay," she mewed with a slow nod. She passed the medicine cat, exited her den and headed back to the nursery, head ducked the entire time. There, she would remain until Spottedfur returned from patrol.

Beesong angled her ears forward, indicating that she was listening to and focused on Icepath. She wanted the other to know that she was actually there for her, like she'd said. "Oh, of course. Of course, and you're allowed to be sad." She responded, blinking warmly. Maybe Icepath felt that as the medicine cat she had to be tough and not show any weakness to the rest of the clan... but Beesong wanted to remind her it was okay to have those emotions. "I understand it must be so hard... and you don't really get to have a break, as our medicine cat. I'm so sorry."
--------------------------------------------------------------------- - border patrol with Bubblingstar, Spottedfur & Mudspeck -
Beesong hesitated as Spottedfur dismissed whatever he had thought he heard, following his gaze across the border. She twitched her ears, listening for a second before falling in line to resume the patrol. "That's okay," she murmured, brushing briefly against Spottedfur's side as they continued. Everyone must have been on edge after the murder of their clanmate, so it wasn't strange to overthink every noise, like she suspected he'd just done. She too was on high alert, anxious something was going to happen. ---------------------------------------------------------------------
