This may not seem like much of a problem, but I thought it was strange Hollyleaf wasnt given a power. I thought it was interesting, yes, but when Dovepaw's power was revealed, I thought she was a bit young for something like that. I just kind of thought the plot itself was a bit messy. (Sorry for the probably controversial opinion 😅) Opinions?

It was mostly because they couldn't think of a power for Hollyleaf at the time so they ended up giving the destiny to Dovewing.
However, they really made Jayfeather too powerful by giving him: the power to read thoughts, able to walk in other cats' dreams, sending him constantly to the past, and able to pop into Starclan just anytime he wanted to.

You're far from the first person to think something like this. But why do you think Dovewing was too young to have a power? Jayfeather and Lionblaze had also had theirs since birth. It would've been the same for Hollyleaf if Vicky had managed to think of one.

am- am I the only one that thinks it seems like bad authoring to not think of a power, which was a main part of the arc, before it was written or at least before it became a part of the story? Like, "It would have been too hard/convoluted to include" I understand, but not being able to think of something just seems like poor planning to me
(I mean no hate with this btw, I've just always been a bit confused by it)

Bad writing, not necessarily.

There's absolutely no reason Hollyleaf couldn't have a power. It's just bad writing.

Okay, but can we talk about the problem with the whole premise of the Fourth? There was literally no reason to make Firestar the Fourth if they weren't going to do anything with him. Him vs. Tigerstar was already going to happen anyway.
The whole mystery of who the Fourth was? Pointless.
Couldn't give Hollyleaf a power, and they couldn't give one to Firestar either apparently.

It was a good twist, I don't know why people didn't like it.

It was a good twist, I don't know why people didn't like it. It seemed like bad planning that Dovewing was given a power even though she was quite a bit younger than the others, while Hollyleaf wasn't, which seemed kind of weird as it would have been cooler to give her a power considering they were all siblings.

I was also confused about how Jayfeather's power was so crazy and Op. Like, he can read peoples minds and walk in their dreams and can freaking visit Starclan, I mean, wasn't walking in dreasm enough???????

Like, he can read peoples minds and walk in their dreams and can freaking visit Starclan, I mean, wasn't walking in dreasm enough??????? Agreed, imo Hollyleafs power should have been mind reading. She could still have code struggles bc she would be able to read someone's mind and realise they're thinking of breaking the code (even if it's just a passing thought) and then she would panic about whether or not to "stop" them. Lion would be the brawn, Holly the mind, and Jay the spiritual one. Unfortunately I feel like they gave Jayfeather so many powers because they didn't know how else to describe situations through the lens of a blind cat. Its convenient that when Jay can't see a cat scowl, he can still "feel" that they're angry. Imo also why he has eyesight in his dreams, which is a shame.
