I've seen some AUs where Firestar got hit by the car instead, but I was just thinking about this- what do you think would happen if Tigerclaw was being a little bit too stupid when making his trap and got hit by a monster and ended up with Cinderpelt's disability?

It does sound like an interesting AU. I think Tigerclaw is smart enough for that not to happen, but if it did, I think the truth about Redtails murder would stay a secret until Fireheart puts two and two together and realizes that the trap was set for Bluestar.

I once read a German fanfiction, with the premise that Redtail did not get killed by Tigerclaw and stayed deputy, where Tigerclaw laid the trap for Redtail iirc and got hit by the monster instead due to him and Redtail fighting on the Thunderpath (my memory is hazy on the details so this could be wrongfully remembered on my part although I do still know that it was exposed that Tigerclaw was a traitor in relation to his injury happening).
Either way, Tigerclaw got exposed for being a traitor there and became a ThunderClan prisoner with his own den. His legs were both paralyzed so the injury was more severe than the canon one Cinderpelt got. He continued scheming and using Darkstripe (who was still a loyal henchman to him) as his messenger. Sadly, the story did not much continue beyond that. I do remember there being three completed "books" though. The first was from Redtail's PoV, the second one from Mousefur's perspective (who got her acearo status revoked by getting a doomed romance with a WindClan warrior) and the third was from Darkstripe's point of view and dealt with the aftermath of Tigerclaw's betrayal, his scheming and then ended with Darkstripe fighting Fireheart (who was involved in a secret romance with Spottedleaf) and throwing him off of a cliff iirc (or Sunningrocks) where he got swept away into the river. Wild stuff.

And my post got deleted while I was checking something, so here’s a shoddy re-typing.
If Tigerclaw was injured instead, he’s obviously not being deputy anymore, with his warrior status still being heavily up in the air. So, there goes a lot of political power he held as deputy and his battle prowess held amongst the other Clans. (Now before I get to the two paths I can see an injured Tigerclaw taking, who is Bluestar picking as her next deputy? Fireheart is too young in Fire and Ice, having just received his first apprentice after all. To keep things simple, it’s likely to be her nephew, Whitestorm. (Willowpelt was another cat I had considered but she’s likely to step down in Forest of Secrets due to still having Sorrel and co as this is the OG series. So, making it Whitestorm the entire time makes it simple. Although a Willowpelt and then replaced by Brindleface or Frostfur would be interesting. But I can’t go and check if the timeline is right due to risking losing my post again.)
Now, onto Tigerclaw. His two paths I can see for him is becoming ThunderClan’s medicine cat or he retires and becomes an elder since he can’t perform warrior duties. Both give him some level of status and political power within the Clan, however one of these paths tosses out the possibility of Bramblefur and Tawnykit as well since I don’t see Goldenflower breaking any rules.
So, it’s possible, he simply retires and remains relatively ineffective until Brokenstar is captured by ThunderClan and also made an elder/prisoner. Both elders then conspire with Brokentail’s rogue gang being utilized, with both toms either using Darkstripe as a messenger. (Tigerclaw could also journey to meet with the rogue group with using his charisma but I’m uncertain as to how effective that would be in the long-run.) Cue some events in FOS, Bluestar doesn’t believe Fireheart because Tigerclaw is now no longer deputy and is a respectable elder of TC. Likely either or both Stormkit or Featherkit dies as it’s unlikely Tigerclaw would be present to warm either kit and Cinderpelt isn’t a medicine cat so she can’t do much either in this situation.
Tigerclaw and Brokenstar are found out once the rogue attack is launched as both would be liable to throw each other under the bus. Darkstripe likely follows Tigerclaw into exile here and Brokenstar dies by death berries as per usual.
ShadowClan is ravaged horribly in this timeline so even an injured Tigerclaw and in-tact Darkstripe would likely be able to schmooze their way into an even more weakened ShadowClan than canon as Cinderpelt would not have the medical knowledge to assist Whitethroat and Littlecloud. (Who are likely both dead from disease in this timeline as well.) On the bright side, Tigerclaw and Darkstripe herald some much needed old-new blood by returning their former rogues. Tigerclaw becomes Tigerstar, the leader of ShadowClan with Blackfoot as deputy. (Darkstripe is just a regular ShadowClan warrior.) Good points with Darkstripe being exiled early, Sorrelkit not being poisoned and Fernpaw likely gets a new mentor much earlier.
TigerClan and the Bone Hill arc is also likely heavily changed since I don’t see Leopardstar letting herself be bossed around by a previously elder Tigerstar. So, their alliance likely crumbles when Stonefur’s execution is announced and RiverClan fighting against ShadowClan presently. (Although this would be more of an internal struggle since I don’t know if Fireheart and the others would be witnesses since Graystripe potentially never joined RiverClan here depending on if he lost both or one of his kits.)
With a potential for internal struggle between the “United TigerClan,” I doubt TigerClan would have much showing with the first “battle,” at Fourtrees just being ShadowClan and BloodClan vs. Wind, Thunder, and River. Likely Tigerstar performs even worse against Scourge with our dog-clawed leader of BloodClan wrenching his injured leg even more before slicing through him. BloodClan then fights the Clans as normal with Scourge being unimpressed that the cat who had injured him all those moons ago had become a relatively ineffective shell relying on his tongue than his overly long claws. (Although this could have occurred the same way even if RC was still United with Tigerstar, we just have two dead BlueXOak kits and Reedwhisker’s the last living descendant, saved by being forgotten about until the second arc.)
As for a medicine cat, Tigerclaw. No kits with Goldenflower and I imagine both GrayXSilver and ShadowClan suffers horribly in this timeline as well. (I don’t know if Tigerclaw would have the forethought to risk assisting ShadowClan since that could endear him to ShadowClan later on.) Also teams up with Brokenstar but potentially saves him later on as he knows more herbs than his warrior/elder self. Yarrow to the rescue! (I also don’t see him being as swiftly exiled in this timeline as he has access to more subtle weapons this time although there’s still potential of Brokenstar throwing him under the bus anyway.) Potential Yellowfang exile for nearly killing Brokenstar here?
This one’s not as fleshed out since I’m uncertain as to how much this one could impact things but follow along a similar time span here.

Wild stuff. This is the most wildly entertaining thing I've ever heard about holy heck It really is lol. I might re-read the trilogy since I thankfully remember the author's name (Karamellpelz in German/Caramelpelt in English). Edit: Just checked and it's still on fanfiktion.de (basically fanfiction.net for Germans). Got written from 2012 to 2014 so is already quite old at this point. Even the German book titles are great, at least for Mousefur and Darkstripe. Mousefur's book is called Schnee und Glut (so Snow and Ember in English) while Darkstripe got Wald der Schatten (Forest of Shadows). So edgy, I love it. Something I forgot about is the fact that it uses the English names for all the characters but is otherwise written completely in German for some reason lol.

I think it would be really funny if Fireheart was like "he's evil you guys!!!" and nobody believed him because Tigerclaw was an elder now
