Recently, Mint and I were discussing the amount of counting games in Forum Games. We'd like to know what your thoughts and opinions are on it. This will help us (staff) make some decisions about the counting games.
Thanks in advance!

I don't really agree with the idea of them--it's far too easy to inflate post count and get rewarded for "activity" that isn't adding to the forum--but as long as they are quarantined to one board... //shrug
I think it's fine, if only because we have a place for games that aren't karma farming/spam: Misc. I do wish misc wasn't hidden behind the karma spam that is games, though. There are tons of people in warrior's general that would love the misc games (esp any of rambling's games), but probably don't know the sub-board exists since it's out of the way and hidden behind games... which anyone who doesn't like the counting games probably isn't going to visit.
Plus every once in a while I see a game thread with a cool concept that's posted in games, then immediately dies because it's buried beneath the karma spam. Which is sad, because they'd thrive in misc but again, it's a little unclear to members what kind of games should go where, I think. Even some warriors themed games get put in the games board. And then they are either lost, or the people that would like to play those kinds of games (like me) don't check games because I'm lurking Misc.
There's a few games on misc that are also kinda karma farm (mostly the kit-apprentice-warrior-leader esque ones, where the only real "decision" points are the warrior name and the kit prefix, with other people farming karma which is... meh) but most of those kind of games remain in the games board. The handful that are still on misc are drawing in members to the sub-board, to perhaps click other things soooo.... perhaps a necessary evil? they only take up half the page, so it's not really a problem to me, just a little annoying to have to sort through which games I'd like to play and which ones are only a half step up from "count to 1million" threads.
I think I put this out there when I was asking for misc, but I would appreciate perhaps moving misc to be a sub-board to warrior's general. That's where it was on the original forums iirc and it might help clarify which kinds of games go where. And, perhaps, that might also solve the problem of warriors games being posted in general fairly regularly (esp because those, even if moved quickly, always get so much activity compared to new games on misc!! and then they get moved and they die because warriors general enjoyers probably thought they got deleted and don't know misc and the thread still exists!!)

I like them. I think if they provide people happiness and fun on forum games, then that’s all that matters (:

They give people something to do while waiting for a reply and make it easier for new people to get enough posts to make threads if they aren't bots.
Maybe since someone elses concern was hiding the more fun games we just put a limit on anyone making any new ones from now on but keep the ones that are there now.

I'm having trouble understanding what you're even trying to mean here. This isn't reddit, wcforums doesn't even have a karma system? you don't think post count isn't the same analogue? people use it in similar ways: they're both rather meaningless numbers that, to some people, give weight to their words. Also post count unlocks titles. Some people are crazy about titles. Back in the 2017 era, people would play the spam games to quickly climb to StarClan Leader and the custom rank; that's when people started calling them "karma games" because so many people would only use them to spam up their post count and then stop playing as soon as they hit the custom title. That was before the games/misc split so it was a bigger deal than it is now + I think it was much more common to use counting threads for the purpose of gaining post count then than it is now.

I could be wrong but I haven't ever seen anyone truly give a hoot about those for a long time now. (i didn't think it was a big deal abck then either) Besides, the forum is much less inactive so playing forum games is about the only way you even could earn those unless you wanna spam another board and annoy everyone.
So short answer: no i don't.

To answer the thread question, I like the counting games but I think there are too many. For example, I like the 'count to one million' thread but I don't see the point of having a 'count to two million' thread because we haven't even hit one million yet. I also disagree that this is similar to the karma system. I've never noticed anyone treat someone differently based on what title they have, with the exception of brand-new accounts who post inflammatory things and are rightfully suspected of trolling. And if someone personally wants to have a certain title and uses the games to get there, I don't see any problem with that.

I guess the short answer is: I have seen post count treated that way by some users, current and past, and it makes me feel a little uncomfortable.
Again, I don't care either way about the games board as it stands, because they have their own board and I can simply mute it. The only point(s) I was trying to make: a) I wish misc wasn't nested behind counting threads b) I think there's a few threads on misc that would find a better home on games c1) I wish there was more clarity to new members which type of games belong on the games board vs misc c2) looping back to (a), that people on warriors general knew misc existed so warrior-adjacent threads--that are not explicitly book/plot/character discussion threads--can exist outside of general (ie. the Clangen thread (and other fangame/fanclan/fanwork discussions), the many "let's make a fanfiction" threads, I'll rate a warrior/ship threads, praise/flame your favs ect). Like, I don't think those kinds of threads really fit on warriors general, the discussion board centered around the books, and that's where I feel warriors misc could be a very useful niche for those threads: a warriors board that holds miscellaneous threads that don't fit cleanly anywhere else. But that's hard to do when Misc is nested under games.

And to loop back to what Brownie was saying, I'll sometimes post in them more because it's a bit mindless but I totally agree that there are probably way too many. I'll admit I made one, but I just wanted to have an excuse to play with my dice lol. I also agree it suffocates things, though I also enjoy the name ones because it lets me try and think of manes. Thought the kit-paw-heart-star ones can be a little underwhelming in that regard. But yeah, like I said, they could aslo have a counting one for people who like them (like the click for Misc)

I'm of the unpopular opinion that most "karma games" are just spam without good reason to exist and not actual games. And it actually kinda annoys me that the board called "Forum Games" does not have actual games in it because the actual games are in a completely different board.

(kind of) Unrelated question but I was just wondering what makes a game go in warriors misc/forum games? I know that warriors misc is for warrior related games, but games like warriors 20 questions and 1001 ways to kill a warrior are just in the general forums game board, so I'm kind of confused
Sorry if this is a dumb question or explained anywhere

But that's hard to do when Misc is nested under games. a.) I've moved Warriors Misc. to be a sub board of Warriors General. If you prefer for it to have its own entire board, let me know. b.) Do you have a list of those threads? Mint and I can move them easily to Forum Games and vice versa. c1.) I'd like to clarify this as well. I'll discuss with Mint as to what would be a better description for both boards. In my mind, I think Misc. should be Warriors based games only. So things like name raters would go in Warriors Misc. because, well, it's related to the series. Forum Games would be only counting games and things like TUBM (the user below me). c2.) They do not fit in WG, I agree with that. I will move them to Warriors Misc. instead of them sitting idly in WG. Games has its own place now and Misc. does too.

So anything that's Warriors related, in my opinion (feel free to disagree), belongs in Warriors Misc. These threads are either based off of the series or relate to it. Threads such as name raters, clan creators, character creators, etc. all fall into that category. I can make a bigger + better list. However, I think the counting games belong in Forum Games. The board is full of counting games to the brim and I don't want to allow any other counting games in. Hence why I'll be removing certain ones. Having count to 1 million and count to 2 million is redundant. Report any of the threads that you find in the Forum Games board that you believe should be moved to Warriors Misc.

I like counting games, but there are a LOT of them. Sometimes I want to play other games but they get buried.
I'd say a good compromise would be to keep the currently active counting games, but not let any more be made.

Another thing we could do is make a new general games tab, and make the existing tab an archive/counting games tab. That way the other active games could be moved, and the counting games can stay as is.

way way too many people making ones for themself/some random member, and there shouldnt be count to 2 and 3 million when we're not even close to 1. 1 million is plenty.
count to 1 million, the count till stafff posts, counting views, and count to 0 are plenty. I really wish they would stop being made. It was excessive a long time ago and it's only getting worse. At the very least prevent more from being made. The actual decent threads are buried because of it and don't get posted on for days or ever again because of it.

I do feel like there are too many, but I appreciate some. I like the count to 1 million, (I'm not sure why there is a count to 2 million or 3 million because we have not reached 1 million yet.) counting views, count till staff post. I do also like the count until someone with a colored name posts because it motivated me to win the candy hunt.
