Hello everyone! I just had a thought recently and I was wondering if anyone has heard of the three cats mentioned in the title. This trio of StarClan cats appeared in Long Shadows briefly when Jayfeather received his medicine cat name and a short play titled: Beyond the Code: Brightspirit's Mercy. The latter of which was intended as a school play (an archived script was translated to the wiki, which I have linked here:) I wanted to shed more light on some otherwise obscure characters from the series since their backstories are incredibly unique. These three cats were written in momento to a family of three who passed away during a tornado strike in Arkansas. Brightspirit's counterpart, Emmy Grace Cherry, was a very smart child and an avid Warriors reader who shared her compassion for the series everywhere she went. Her parents, Dana and Jimmy Cherry, became Shiningheart and Braveheart respectively. Here's an article summarizing what happened below if anyone wants more context; keep in mind this article is from 2008 so formatting and the link might not work too well on some devices! What do you all think? Should the Warriors team add more cameos like these in memorial for fallen fans of the series? Please keep replies respecful; I don't intend for many debates here, just a thread to honor the Cherry family memory.

Oh yeah, many people know about that It was a HUGE debate when Rootspring's warrior name poll came out. There was an option to name him Rootspirit, and people were supper upset about it. They felt like no other cat should have the -spirit suffix, as it would disrespect Emmy's memory. Which, I totally agree with.

✲ριкαƒυєу✲ Yeah, I remember the "Rootspirit" debate, not firsthand, but through a video I watched a couple years back. I was a fresh Warriors fan back when it happened! It's been a while since that poll released, and we have plenty of new fans, so I just feel like not enough people have heard about them! I believe "Shining" and "Brave" are unique prefixes too! I also really like how they are mentioned as "well respected StarClan warriors" it's honestly kind of wholesome how beloved they are in cat heaven- shame we never got to hear from them again after one book and some non-canon material.

Oh yes, I remember reading about them. And the debate about Rootspirit being a Clan name.

I've long been aware of the story, but I did not know about the "spirit" suffix debate.
I honestly don't think featuring the characters more would be a good idea. Since they are essentially tributes to actual people, more involvement runs the risk of having the characters say/do things that reflect back onto their living memories. I guess mentioning, like, Brightspirit frolicking in the background in StarClan would be fine. But I wouldn't push it past that.

Idk why but when I heard the name Brightspirit I just thought of Bright Stream from DOTC.
