I agree it's toxic, with both of them at fault for varying reasons. Personally my issue is that the books keep reminding us that these two are destined to be together and whatever, but in every single book and arc they have relevance in, they fight and argue. It's a wash-rinse-repeat of fighting and then making up at the end. Couples fight, that's nothing new nor unrealistic, but it's just rehashing issues in their already toxic relationship constantly, and it's exhausting. I totally agree! That’s why I believe they should have just became friends after the PoT incident. I'm still on the boat that they should have stayed friends and Bramble could have easily hit it off with Daisy, and they wouldn't have added the unnecessary romance between him and Jessy.

Anyone else feel like Squirrelflight is a lot more different than in the previous books? Her personality back when she was an apprentice was quite childish, headstrong, and immature. Which i can understand. She was an apprentice after all.
But i could swear, the more Power of Three/Omen of the Stars passed, all the way down to Bramblestar's Storm, she had matured. BrambleSquirrel finally looked a healthy ship, we read some of her struggles, but all in all she wasn't reckless & cared deeply about her clanmates.
Is it the change in writer? Because i don't remember like this as an adult. She is too reckless and argumentative, and goes behind Bramblestar's back when he is so ill and troubled.Squirrelflight looks like a completely different character in SQH and the coming arcs. It may just be me who stopped paying so much attention to the books by the AVOS arc, but it was never something i expected her to do.
Bramblestar's Storm was the best peak of her character imo.

I liked her a lot as an apprentice. Sure, she was headstrong and could be annoying, but she was brave and intelligent too. It was nice to watch her grow up. I'm not going to get very deep into the recent BrambleSquirrel drama, but I agree that she's changed a lot from the end of Bramblestar's Storm to now. Although (and idk if it's just me) I think that Thunder somewhat brought back that original charm she used to have when she was made leader. I really liked her interactions with Sunbeam.
