Been a while since I've seen this thread...what are your "controversial" (for lack of a better word) opinions about Warriors? Could be about any book, or plotline, or character.

I don’t really like Jayfeather.
Hollyleaf is a better character with no powers.

I actually prefer Warrior Cats to Wings of Fire. Yeah, they're both prominent titles in the fantasy genre as we speak, but I like how the writing style of WC has a formal tone with room for the occasional funny moment, whereas WoF always feels like it's laid-back even in the serious moments. I also lowkey wish that WoF had more banger quotes like in WC (e.g., "fire alone can save our Clan" and "tell the stars that you won".) It isn't helping that "there's a tree in the forest" is the biggest one from WoF I can think of off the top of my head. Finally, I feel WC has made a number of series with solid endings (e.g., TPB, TBC, etc.) while WoF is still struggling to write a series conclusion that doesn't fall flat. I'm curious to see the direction of ASC and WC Arc 9, as well as WoF Arc 4, because if there's a time for taking the fantasy genre gauntlets off, it is now.

Bramblestar isn't too bad. Jayfeather is slightly annoying. TNP is better than most arcs.

It would’ve been interesting if the three had kept their powers after OoTS.

TLH wasn't that bad of an ending for OOTS. It could've been better in many ways, yes, but idk. I think for a WC book it's fine.

*ahem* mapleshade deserves sympathy, NOT STARCLAN; but... sympathy

-Pinestar is cool (People that say he deserves the dark forest have no idea what they be waffling about)
- MOST of the villains in the series are cool (Not you darkstripe)

all the characters in TNP are boring or unlikable. i was not invested in a single major character in that arc.

- I don’t care for Alderheart’s, Twigbranch’s, or Violetshine’s POVs. It made AVOS a slog to get through, especially Thunder and Shadow.
- The Three should have not lost their powers in Dovewing’s Silence.
- Squirrelflight should have been actually barren and she should have not gotten back with Bramblestar. Alderheart and Sparkpelt should have been Lionblaze’s and Cinderheart’s kits instead, with Fernsong as their littermate. Spotfur and Sorrelstripe could have been the second litter. (Hollytuft, Snaptooth, and Flywhisker are filler cats and don’t need to exist.)
- Yellowfang’s Secret is one of my favorite super editions. I have little problem with the devolution of Yellowfang and Raggedstar’s relationship. I do take issue with Yellowfang having an empathy power out of nowhere, the powers should be unique to the Three.
- For similar reasons I don’t like the Sisters’ ghost powers.

-I prefer the original idea of having four Clans instead of five because of its symbolism. Four Trees, four seasons, four Clans was such a neat idea.
-Ashfur was far too overpowered in TBC for me to take him seriously. He was a better villain in POT.
-Clear Sky should have remained as a villain. One of the Clans having a founder who was evil could have been an interesting concept to explore.

- the time traveling parts in po3/oots was actually really interesting and fun and I wanna see more of the ancient clan - jay/half moon is cute, more crushes on long gone kitties pls /lh
- idk if this Is Even controversial but Rock Would've been A Really Cool villan

-The battle in TLH was actually really interesting and probably the most realistic depiction of what an actual, no-holds-barred fight would be in Warriors -TLH in general was a great book -**** Mapleshade -Dovewing is a much better character than Ivypool -The role of a "mediator" is utterly useless and will most likely never be used again once Tree dies -Bristlefrost's death was the most impactful moment in the entire series

I despise Bristlefrost’s fate in A Light in the Mist. It was the worst moment in the series I'm with you on this one. The concept is good, I just hate that they chose Bristlefrost as the sacrifice. Ideally it'd be Squirrelflight or Bramblestar. But Shadowsight would have been an interesting choice too. He was essentially Ashfur's mouthpiece for awhile and the first cat he tricked. How poetic would it have been if he had been the one to finally take Ashfur down? And he was right there when it happened too! Instead they had to have a damsel in distress situation with Bristlefrost rushing in to save the day.

As for my own opinion, I still think Ravenwing made up the sign that got Mapleshade and her kits exiled. While I acknowledge there is no hard evidence for this belief, there isn't anything that disproves it either. Him figuring out that the kits were half RiverClan was totally plausible given their natural affinity for water and difficulty with traditional ThunderClan skills. Not to mention the fact that he confronts Mapleshade right after they went swimming in the river. He very likely saw them and connected the dots. The vision he supposedly saw also made it very clear that they needed to leave in order for harmony to be restored.
Obviously he wasn't the one who exiled three kits, but Oakstar never would have done that if Ravenwing hadn't told him about this vision. A vision that all but spells out what needed to be done. There is just too much circumstantial evidence here.

Honestly I feel like it was significant because it was the first perma-death of a POV in their own arc ever. I remember finishing ALitM and just staring at the last page, because I'd hadn't even considered the prospect that Bristlefrost, a character that the last six books had built up to become this fleshed out, genuinely good character would just be... gone. Definitely the most impactful moment in the series for me, at least. Nothing else even remotely comes close.

My gripe is entirely with who they chose to kill. Bristlefrost wasn't nearly as significant to Ashfur as Bramblestar, Squirrelflight, or even Shadowsight were. It kind of cheapens her death for me personally. Anyone could have taken her place. Bristlefrost was probably chosen because of her popularity- for shock value. I personally hate when media pulls the stuff like that. It was disappointing to see Warriors joining the trend. But please don't take this as an objective criticism. While I personally hate this trend, I know a lot of people do like it. Clearly Finland and I are very much in the minority.

But they didn't need to kill one of them off to force the rule change. Rootspring was already going to switch Clans before her death. He would have championed the new rule regardless of what happened in ALIM.

Nightheart and Bramblestar are my favourite characters. I think everyone needs to warm up to them a little.
I think the Broken Code and a Starless Clan are one of the best arcs in the series.
