i dont think people say it because it's bad they say it because social media platforms will demonetize/flag/ban you for talking about death in any meaningful way because the bots that moderate everything can't tell the difference between what's a threat and what is conversation and the human moderators that oversee it don't care either My issue is the people who actually say it in real life, like that shit is just so cringe u right

i'm black, and i hate when i see people on the internet getting upset at other black people for trying to "gatekeep box braids" and they always bring up that stupid viking argument too, it really annoys me. viking braids and box braids are a whole different two things. viking braids are closer to cornrows than box braids.
the thing about box braids is that it's a protective hairstyle that only works on certain hair textures. for people with looser hair, they could risk significant hair loss by wearing box braids. box braids are very tight because they are protective hairstyles.
it's so frustrating, it feels like people like me can never have anything without non-black people getting angry about it
black people don't own braids in general, but box braids are a very important African cultural style. box braids were made for curlier hair textures. it's especially hurtful since hair has always had a symbolic meaning, and black people like me have had our traditional hairstyles deemed as unprofessional and messy. meanwhile, hairstyles for people with looser hair have always been seen as pretty and neat. i'm still learning to not hate my own hair.
i hope that this whole rant wasn't pushing the limits of this thread too far

AND also on a similar subject i hate the people who hated/refused to see the live action little mermaid movie just because ariel was portrayed by a black actress.
just wait until these people learn about the black cinderella movie (where cinderella was portrayed by brandy). and that was in 1997!
people are fine with live actions until a person of color is playing the lead role. just say you're a racist and move on.
the original is still there for you, multiple versions of characters can coexist without conflict.

Actually I like 50/50 on both agreeing and disagreeing here because part of why I hate redos of characters isn't for racism or whatever. It's because people think "inclusion" is just going "oh this character is now a woman/poc/queer/whatever" now instead of making NEW characters with NEW stories where being a minority is actually important and not just like. A thing for free inclusivity points for majority folk to point at and go SEE? we are ~*inclusive*~ now!! And then pat themselves on the back. Half the time the characters new appearance or the struggles that would come with being that way aren't even addressed in any meaningful way. People who can still see themselves and feel included by reskins/aus of characters. Well that's great! I'm genuinely happy that those things do exist. But i think minorities deserve better than reskins of old characters to be included with and basically have to share. Unfortunately minority characters (particularly ones made by minorities for minorities) are often suppressed by higher-ups in the media industries because they think it's "unrelatable" to the majority of people and thus not profitable. I wish art, expression, and meaningful dialogue that would come from them would stop being about profit.

Less of a hate rant and more of just a rant. I've been to several cabins during my lifetime and each one of them were decorated with photos and paintings of cabins. It's just crazy to me, and it really grinds my gears, half in a joking sense, half on a serious note. Listen, you're out in the middle of the woods surrounded by nature - it's a Disney wonderland out there with squirrels sharing acorns, the trees are filled with the serenades of the birds, there's Bambi bounding around outside like it's some magical fairy tale, and you're inside admiring the photos of a cabin. Go outside, touch some grass, and you'll be experiencing the real thing! Here's a better idea: the decorators should be putting up photos of local wildlife to encourage you to explore.
It's the same with beach houses. They're often littered with (still beautiful) artwork of, you guessed right, the ocean! If you just walk outside your front door, walk a few minutes down the road, the beach and the ocean will be right there waiting for you. The real thing!
I understand they're meant to "set the theme", but do they have to be so literal?
Also, getting political here for a moment, but anyone unironically using the term "woke" to describe anything they don't like. Some examples are borderline hilarious, such as the claim that dinosaurs having feathers is "woke", but many are just meaningless war banners they chant around mindlessly. So many good arguments or ideas shared I've seen online were quite frankly ruined when, usually at the end of their post, they use this particular word. It's frankly nauseating.

I wish art, expression, and meaningful dialogue that would come from them would stop being about profit. I heavily agree with both of these viewpoints! I agree with the point that live-action remakes with people of color as the main role can be seen as a way to draw viewers in just because of inclusivity. It rubs me the wrong way that being inclusive is a tactic can be used by larger corporations to make a larger profit. But if the actor genuinely enjoys being in that role, who am I to judge? That being said, I did enjoy the live action Little Mermaid movie though (or most of it at least!) It was really aesthetically pleasing, especially with the scenes were Ariel is on the island, it just felt so genuinely nostalgic to me unlike the forced nostalgia Disney often uses for most of their remakes (cough cough LION KING cough) It also makes me very upset when Disney shoves something original under the rug in favor of sequels of their existing properties. I feel like I'm just reiterating what many others have said before me, but Disney's marketing for some of their original films and shows has been particularly bad, especially when (lord forbid) the main lead is an "OPENLY GAY OF RACIALLY DIVERSE CHARACTER!1!" Well we just can't commercialize and merchandise this to the public, now can we? I just want to see more originality from underrated corporations, that's what makes cinema great! Sorry if I got a little exaggerated towards the end, hope I got my point across

If you like to eat tomatoes I will literally fight you the juice, texture, and flavor I’ll just suck I don’t get how one could ever enjoy eating one but salsa and ketchup are pretty good I’ll give u that I will eat tomatoes on sandwiches but I do agree i hate the ones that are just like mostly watery bullshit and seeds on the inside. I tap on tomatoes like they're watermelon a little to make sure they don't sound & feel like that, also pick barely ripe/maybe slightly underripe ones so they aren't as like. squishy and squelchy and more firm. I hate a squelchy tomato. They're also awful to try to slice. Tomatoes are evil, you can never convince me otherwise. The same goes for pickles, can't stand them. You're allowed to say you like them, but you're still wrong.

I hate that everything these days are transferring over to the subscription service model.
I hate that I live on the same planet as "people" like Bobby Kotick.
While I do acknowledge that I am adorkable at times, I hate that people have to assume they must apologize to me every time they swear within my vicinity, or that I cannot possibly fathom some dirty piece of context, etc. just because I have a youthful appearance. I understand that some part of it is literally built into our psyche, but it doesn't make it any less frustrating.
Human sexuality is one of the worst things about our species, don't try to convince me otherwise. Things would be so less messy if it didn't exist.
I hate the existence of (most) social media.
I hate the fact that the past several batches of tortilla wraps I've purchased have all come fused together. Oh, and one of those batches was mouldy.
I hate people who believe that vaccines cause [insert sickness, mental health issue, or neurodivergence here], including my mother.
I hate people (typically allo-cisgender white hetero men) who treat women and other minorities like garbage in the video game sphere. I fully acknowledge that happens literally everywhere (which makes my blood boil even more), but I chose gaming in particular because it's something I'm very passionate about (hello focused interests, my old friend). Like so many people (again, usually the aforementioned group) in this world are just scum.
I hate modern dating and how fake everything is. Not personal for me since I'm not within the romantic bubble, but in general, I just hate fakeness and how it's socially normalized. Fake friendships as well can be added to this list. I only want genuine connections with people. The relationship doesn't have to go super deep - even just discussing one common interest over and over is okay - but... bleh. Narcissism and other stuff. Can't understand it, can't stop hating it.

I hate that operating systems have removed the ability to decline updates. It’s always “pick a time” or “remind me in 3 days,” and if you put it off for long enough then it will randomly shut down and start doing updates anyway. I hate that “No” isn’t an option anymore and hasn’t been for a long time. THIS, and I double hate it when they tamper with your own settings or programs. (Ex. it disables x cloud service, it readjusts your desktop volume and/or in various programs, etc.)

Another one. People who add "ee" onto the end of everything, all the time. It drives me nuts. Either they put the "ee" sound onto the end of words in which it doesn't belong, or they purposefully use words that end in an "ee" sound because they find it cute. "Want some brekkie?" "Look at that doggy." "Do you want some burgers-ee." (<---- Yes, I knew someone who pronounced "burgers" like that.) No judgment if you do this... just don't do it around me, please.

I heavily agree with both of these viewpoints! I agree with the point that live-action remakes with people of color as the main role can be seen as a way to draw viewers in just because of inclusivity. It rubs me the wrong way that being inclusive is a tactic can be used by larger corporations to make a larger profit. One further addition to what grinds my gears. People who genuinely believe that companies give a darn. Yes, some people working for them may care about representing marginalized groups positively, but in a Capitalistic world, the company's sole purpose is to make all the money from all the people, forever, and even that will never be enough. They don't care about minority groups (at least in the West) because, sadly, it may not be profitable to do so (or at least in their eyes), and that is enough for them to either never change, or only move forward one inch at a time every decade or more. Sorry if this sounds overly blunt, but people who believe otherwise (that companies are for them) are just being foolish.
Not fully getting into the diversity argument above though, since I'm white, and therefore it's not my conversation.
However, I will add a pet peeve onto it. Shows that "represent" minority groups or those on the neurodivergent spectrum and the character is nothing more than a walking harmful stereotype. Bleh.

Trucks that tailgate you when you’re already going 15 over the speed limit; bonus if it’s night and their brights are on. i go slower on purpose when people tailgate me. sometimes i do a brake check to scare them.
