WonderLocation: Barn With: Peanut ( Dark ) Wonder waited. And waited. She could hear the footsteps come closer and closer, followed by a sense of growing dread. She flinched again when his mew sounded nearby. He didn't seem to be concerned about her staring. Wonder opened one eye. Yep. There he was, standing just a tail-length away. She opened both eyes and let out the breath she had been holding, causing some loose straw dust to rise into the air around them. The young calico opened her jaws to reply, but the dust from earlier tickled her nose and she sneezed- a pitifully squeaky sound. Her ears warmed and she looked down at the straw instead of the young tom before her. She shifted her paw, moving some of the straw. "It's not too bad once you arrange it how you like," she replied quietly, almost mumbling her words out. "And it's much more soft and warm to sleep on than the cold, hard barn floor," she added, her voice becoming a little more brave near the end. She risked a glance up at his wide brown eyes. Her ears lifted a bit, only slightly angled back now.

Spark (Fire Starter) -- 34 Moons -- Male Excitable | Hyper | Attentive Spark is a tricolor border collie with a small star of white on his forehead that looks like a spark. Farm Dog | N/A Spark is the farm’s sheep herding dog, something he excels at. He’s also a show dog for the family, mostly with sheep trials but occasionally agility competitions as well. He gets along well with the other dogs, and is close with Heather.
(Fire Starter is Spark’s registered name, just fyi. I wanted him to have a registered name since he does competitions, seemed fitting. Also gotta get a pic, but I’m basing him off one of the dogs of a border collie breeder I follow. I’ll have to find a pic on my laptop tomorrow.)

Wila »
Wila’s chest puffed out happily. The day had started off on a bad note for the molly, but now here it was, ending on a good note. She knew she had to go back home after this, but after meeting Flame and knowing that they were going to spend more time together made the idea of going back home much more bearable. Plus Chia usually had enough sense in his round head to give Wila space anytime she snapped at him. Home wouldn’t be unbearable right now, especially with the thought of Flame in her mind.
As the snow began to fall in a more rhythmic pattern, Wila heard the unmistakable call of a female twoleg. Must be Flame’s owner, she thought to herself, these thoughts confirmed when Flame spoke up. She nodded in understanding all the while rolling her eyes humorously at his joke. ”Yeah, yeah, I’ve got enough fur on me to keep me from freezing over,” she mewed with a laugh trickling into her words.
The molly was about to turn and start heading toward her house when Flame stepped forward and pressed his nose against her own. This shouldn’t have been a surprise to her as it was a normal gesture of both greeting and farewell - it was something she did with her other friends all the time, but the moment Flame did it she stopped in her tracks, her heart fluttering ever so slightly. Warmth trickled into her ears and spread throughout her pelt. Wila chalked it up to her just getting to know Flame and that being friendly with the tom was still a little odd. That’s all there was to it, right? Right.
Shaking the embarrassment off, Wila turned on her paws. She waved with her tail a quick goodbye. ”Seeya around, Flame!” Wila gave him one last look before heading off back to her twolegs before the snow got too bad.
- - - - - - - - - As Wila had predicted, she had seen little of Chai since returning back to her nest the day before. The only time she had noticed the tom was when their twolegs had fed them. They both had separate bowls of food, but they were still in the same room, and even then Chai had kept his distance, silently eating his food while Wila had enjoyed hers in the sounds of silence.
Once she had finished her meal, Wila had rushed over to the window and jumped up onto the windowsill, yellow eyes watching as the snow fell, hoping that it would let up just enough so she could return to Flame. Ever since returning to her nest she had thought of the orange tabby, eager to start their adventure out in the woods together. She couldn’t help but wonder what he was doing right now - was he eating, or was he also watching the snow in hopes that it would stop? Giddiness spread throughout her at the mere thought of him. She’d have to tell her other friends all about Flame as soon as she got the chance. Fran would be excited to hear that Wila had made a new friend. Quinn would probably want to meet Flame, and Frazzle was bound to want to hear all about Wila’s and Flame’s adventures out into the woods. Oh, this was all so exciting! Wila couldn’t contain her excitement to the point that sleep had been hard for her that night. The snow had continued to fall even as the sun had sunk down below the horizon. It was upsetting to know that it would be even longer before she could see Flame again, but it gave her the chance to rest up for their adventure. Or, well, rest as much as she could given that she barely slept at all. Wila just couldn’t wait for the sun to rise and spread its light across the land, and all night she prayed that the snow had stopped.
The molly forced herself to stay in her bed until she heard the day-to-day sounds of her twolegs waking up. As soon as her and Chai’s breakfast had been prepared, she uncurled herself from her blanketed bed and headed into the kitchen, quickly eating her food before dashing toward the window. ”Please let the snow have stopped…” She breathed, jumping onto the windowsill to look out at the morning landscape. As she expected, snow covered the ground in a pristine white blanket mostly undisturbed save for the small prints of songbirds that had already hopped around in the yard. While there was a good coating of snow on the ground and the sky was still cloudy, the sun was peeking out from the clouds ever so slightly and from what Wila could see, the snowfall had ceased.
With an excited trill, Wila wasted no time in slipping outside from the cat door and made her way to Flame’s den, stopping only when she approached his twolegs’ den. ”Flame! Hey, Flame!” She yowled out, hoping that he was awake and could hear her.
Creamsicle »
It was Creamsicle’s young naivety that allowed her to ask all these personal questions. She had no idea that questions such as these could bring back memories both good and bad for Cotton. She had no idea that asking for this information could have its consequences. Creamsicle herself had gone through a lot despite her young age, and while there was trauma in her backstory, she still wasn’t aware that some things were best left unsaid. There was a deep innocence to the kit still, an innocence that left her without a filter.
She listened intently as Cotton finally responded. Her ears were perked forward and eyes attentive even as she grabbed another bite of rabbit from her meal. She chewed silently, soaking in everything that her newfound guardian had to say. A purr crawled its way up the kit’s throat, vibrating inside her small body. ”I’m glad you had a mother,” she mused after swallowing down her bite of rabbit. ”Mommas are always nice.” At least in her experience; her mother had been a very kind and compassionate molly, always looking out for her kits and giving them the best. While Creamsicle could think fondly about her mother, she also felt an emptiness at the thought of her mother. Was the tabby tortoiseshell queen okay? Had the twolegs done anything to her like they had her kittens? Would Creamsicle ever see her again? ”You were a nice momma too, huh, Cotton? You’re nice to me.” She spoke these words as she took one more bite of the rabbit haunch, her small stomach filling up as much as it could. ”When I’m all grown up and have my own skills,” she was echoing Cotton’s words, going off of what the ticked tabby had said, ”I’ll teach my kits everything you’re teaching me! And I’ll make sure their den is very clean,” she mewed with a firm nod, still not leaving the topic of being more a den-cleaner than a hunter or fighter.
The snow chill in the air had Creamsicle searching for more warmth. Cotton offered a good amount, but Creamsicle was sure that the snow was starting to fall harder than it had been before. ”Are we gonna go to a den soon?” Now that she had eaten her fill and was no longer tired, Creamsicle was ready to go somewhere and hunker down for warmth. It was getting colder outside, and not even her kit fluff was keeping her completely warm.

Percy »
Was that disappointment he noticed in Smoke’s gaze? The way the gray tom’s tail drooped and hung low to the ground had Percy wondering if his newfound friend was okay, yet before he spoke up and said anything he too found a pit of disappointment welling inside the pit of his stomach. He didn’t want to say goodbye to Smoke despite knowing that they had made plans to see one another again soon. The two toms both had dens that they needed to return to before the weather got too bad, but there was something telling Percy that he could return to his den at some later time. There wasn’t anything of importance in there that needed to be tended to.
The more he thought about his disappointment the more he wondered if it had to do with the fact that he had been alone for so long. How many moons had it been since he had last interacted with a cat that wanted to hang around and make plans with him? Smoke was the first cat in quite a while that was actually offering to spend more time with Percy and he wanted to latch onto it; that’s why he was disappointed, he was sure of it. The ginger and white tom had always longed for friendship and companionship, so it was no wonder as to why he felt crestfallen at Smoke’s departure. They had just met today but today had been more fun than Percy had had in a while. If only it could last.
He, too, was about to give Smoke his farewell, nuzzling the other tom in the same manner Smoke had done when an idea sparked in his mind. It was probably foolish, the idea of a kit, but Percy couldn’t just not mention it.
From the idea surged a new excitement. No longer downcast, Percy’s tail shot high into the air. ”Hey, Smoke, how do you feel about staying with me in my den tonight? Or we could go to yours since you probably want to keep an eye on your herbs.” It probably would be foolish for Smoke to leave his herbs unattended. Not many cats would be out in a snowfall like this, but caution needed to be taken when it came to valuable resources in the harsh season of leaf-bare. ”I mean, we’re both planning on meeting up again so I thought it’d be easier if we just stayed with one another. You can say no, I wouldn’t mind.” Percy honestly wouldn’t mind if Smoke declined the offer, but that disappointment he had experienced earlier was sure to return. He’d suck it up and deal with it in his own time, but he’d be happier if Smoke wanted to stay with him through the night. Alice »
The fluffed up tail and the sound of claws hitting against the rock under paw told Alice everything she needed to know - this other molly hadn’t expected some other cat to appear. She had startled the black furred feline. It wasn’t every day that a cat was scared of her, but then again, she doubted this newcomer didn’t find herself in the mountains all alone with a stranger, either.
For a moment there Alice wondered if this other cat would turn and leave without saying a word. The black feline didn’t come across as a wandering human’s lost pet - she looked a bit too rugged for that, but there was something about her that made Alice think she wasn’t the type to enter into any confrontation. Whether they spoke to one another or not the tortoiseshell didn’t care. She wasn’t going to hurt this other cat unless given a reason, but she also wasn’t going to start up a conversation just to hear herself talk. She would speak if spoken to, so there she stood on the edge of the outcrop, waiting to see if this strange cat would respond to her question.
When she did, Alice listened with perked ears. Right away the barn cat could tell this molly was putting on a brave stance in an attempt to not display weakness. Alice chuffed under her breath, a subtle noise that not even her own ears picked up on. The tortoiseshell wouldn’t go so far as to say that this other molly was pathetic in her attempts to look independent, but it was amusing to watch this unfold from Alice’s point of view. ”No, your pelt doesn’t suit the meadows,” Alice agreed nonchalantly; a black pelt such as the one the cat had did not blend in well with the snow covered meadows. That was something even Alice understood on a personal level. Her black and orange pelt made her stick out like a fish out of water when snow lay heavy on the moor. ”I’ve a hawk up here that still has meat on it. Would you want some?” It would not surprise Alice if the other female rejected the food. Alice was a stranger to her as much as this cat was a stranger to Alice. If the roles were reversed Alice would more than likely say no even if she was starving and had no luck finding prey anywhere else. It also wasn’t like Alice to outright share food with a stranger, especially in leaf-bare. Before this she had planned to bring the hawk back to the barn with her and distribute the rest of the meat to her barnmates, but they were fortuante enough to live in an area that attracted mice and birds year round. Prey was never all that scarce for them, and Alice had only come this far in search of something a little different than just the regular mouse or sparrow. Bringing home a rabbit would have been a treat for all the barn cats, and a hawk would have sufficed just as well, but if this stranger needed food then Alice wouldn’t deny her the chance to eat. So long as she wasn’t hostile then Alice would do no harm.

Flame Location: Twolegplace With: Wila ( Feathertalon) Flame had also been anxiously awaiting the end of the snowfall, having spent the day before sitting in the upstairs window of his nest, watching the snow and the alley, knowing Wila wouldn’t be out in the snow, but just wishing he’d see her trotting over to his nest. His housefolk had seemed a bit concerned, coming by every now and then to check on him, but a purr and a rollover was enough to assure them he was ok. The day after, he’d been pacing around the house waiting for his housefolk to wake up, scratching at the door to go out once they finally did. He’d watched the snow stop earlier in the morning, and he was excited to head into the forest with Wila. He’d been curled up on the porch with his paws tucked beneath his tail, not wanting to go back in and have his housefolk not let him out again, waiting to see if Wila came. He’d understand if she wanted to wait a little longer, until the snow had melted a bit and wasn’t as deep. But when he heard her meow on the other side of the fence, he forgot the cold from the warmth that washed over him. He bounded across the yard and onto the fence, looking down for a moment so he didn’t squash her, before he leaped down next to her. The landing was much softer than it usually was, snow having drifted up against the fence during the storm, cushioning his landing. Flame was already purring, his tail waving slightly. “Hey! I thought you might wait a bit more before coming over.”, he said, not able to help the twinge of relief in his voice. He was glad she hadn’t waited, he wasn’t sure he would have been able to handle that. “The forest will be so pretty with the fresh snow, and who knows, maybe we’ll find something to catch.”, he said. He found it funny how easy he’d gotten used to being around Wila. They’d met and spoke once, and he already felt completely comfortable around her. It made him glad he’d been outside the day she’d come by, and that he’d dropped the macho act when he did. He realized now that definitely wasn’t the kind of cat Wila seemed like she’d hang out with. Gardenia and Wisteria Location: Forest With: Night ( 𝑏𝑙𝑒𝑢) The couple days of the storm had passed with Gardenia and Wisteria mostly just staying curled up together, asleep, or talking quietly when they were awake. Wisteria had ventured out a few times to stretch her legs, but Gardenia had finally made her stop since she kept getting their nest wet. Gardenia was glad when she woke up to sun shining across her face, opening her eyes and sitting up, stretching as much as she could without waking Wisteria. She stepped over her sister, stepping outside and properly stretching. The ground was still snowy, but the snowflakes had stopped falling, and that was good enough for her. She shook her pelt out, her fur drabby and ruffled from their constant sleeping. She glanced over at movement, padding over to where Night seemed to be digging the snow away from his den. “Would you like some help with that?”, she asked. While pushing snow around wasn’t her idea of a good morning, he had helped them when the storm had rolled in, and she wasn’t about to be a rude guest. Shadow Location: Forest With: Honey ( Myst) Shadow purred with laughter at her charmer comment. He just knew that compliments were something not many heard regularly, and liked to make others feel better. Besides, she was a very good hunter. He followed her off to find more prey, sticking close to her tail. He hunkered down when they came across the fighting weasels. He nodded slightly when she said she’d wait for his signal, as he stayed crouched down as she moved around them. Hopefully they’d be able to catch both of them at the same time. Shadow stayed pressed against the forest floor, waiting, watching them fight. He wanted to wait for them to tire themselves out, but not too long to let them escape. Right when he saw they were starting to wind down, he stuck his tail in the air as a signal to Honey, a moment before he pounced on the weasel closest to him. He’d watched them fight, and so he knew they were slinky creatures. He kept the body of the weasel pinned down with one paw while he used to other to keep its head still as much as he could, biting its neck as soon as he could, a sharp ‘crack’ resulting in the weasel going limp in his jaws.

CottonLocation: Moor With: Creamsicle ( Feathertalon ) Cotton didn't respond to Creamsicle's comments. Some stung. Others brought forth conflicting feelings. But all throughout, Cotton managed to maintain a placid expression (which still looked a bit like a glare), only varying slightly with the narrowing or softening of the eyes. She huffed a little in amusement at Creamsicle's final declaration, at least somewhat impressed with her resolve if not with her reason for it. She would not argue further on the topic for now. If cleaning a den made the kit feel better, so be it. Perhaps she'd grow out of it with time. "Yes. We must go quickly," she said at last, seeing that the kit was finished. She stood and shook out the snow that had settled on her fur. They had already lingered too long- the storm was blowing in quicker than anticipated. The wind had picked up, bringing snow along with it. Cotton's short bristly fur did little to block out elements. The fat flakes that landed and melted on her back sent chills through her body. Her bones that had been surprisingly resilient earlier that day were now painfully reminding her that she was getting too old to stay away from her den this long during leaf bare. Despite it all, Cotton did what she did best. She gritted her teeth, bared with it, and stubbornly pushed on. She must be strong, if only for this life that had fallen into her paws. "We are going to be crossing the moor. Stick right beside me and you will be fine," Cotton told the kit, beckoning with her tail to the side that would be most sheltered from the wind. Surely the kit wouldn't linger at the bushline this time with the oncoming threat of the storm. "It's not too far. We should be able to make it before the snow gets too thick." She gathered her strength and picked up the now cold rabbit corpse- the one intended to be their life-line during the resulting snow-in the day after. Lean muscles stretching powerfully over the freshly fallen snow, she dragged the rabbit along behind her at a steady trot. The movement helped bring life back into her numb paws. She glanced beside her to see if Creamsicle could keep up, prepared to adjust her pace accordingly if it was necessary. She already had a path mapped in her head, one of the shortest ones that would pass by patches of undergrowth to help serve as a windbreak.

Kuta -- Leaving The Forest | With Crystal - 𝑏𝑙𝑒𝑢 The tom matched her pace easily, thankful that it was keeping his blood moving. It wasn’t much, but it least kept the chill from his bones as they travelled. For as much as he’d gotten out of the day, it was ultimately his fault that she couldn’t head straight home to avoid the storm. Perhaps he could make it up to her somehow… What that ‘how’ was, he didn’t yet know, but he’d figure it out once the snow passed. For now, he’d settle for keeping up with her while trying to catch any hint of something familiar to him.
When she questioned him on their new settings, Kuta drew in a slow breath. The cold stung his nose, and he was suddenly acutely aware of the snow that would occasionally fall on his nose. Thankfully, though, the area stuck a memory in his mind when he was finally able to separate his own scent trail from everything else. “I was here earlier,” he answered, recognition flickering in his eyes. Finally pausing in his steps to try and get a better lead, he was quick to realize this was about where he’d started just wandering around. Right… Well, better than nothing, right? Surely he’d be home before the worst of it.
Hazel eyes turning back to the molly that had escorted him, he grinned. “It’s been a pleasure, Crystal~ Get home safe - I’ll see you when the snow melts.” With that, he took his leave, turning and bounding off toward the treeline. He had some odd turns and small bits of back tracking, but eventually he did make it out of the trees. From there, it was fairly easy to pick out his home, and no sooner than he trotted into the yard had the door opened. He strode in without paying his people too much mind, snagged his food from the kitchen counter against his person’s wishes, then settled at the backdoor to watch the snow.
The day had been interesting to say the least. He found the moorland by chance and a cat who knew something about this group he’d been dreaming about. Knowing there was a second group… very intriguing. Well, hopefully he’d know more soon.
Milo -- The Forest | with Fran - whispering In the trees, the cold seemed so quiet, much more delicate than what he’d known. He was very used to seeing all the children outside, running up and down the pavement and throwing themselves into the snow. The forest was a stark contrast to that concept, and it was unsettling in a way, though he contributed that to being unfamiliar with the place. Regardless, he’d had more than his fill for the day, and now it was time to go. Still, he couldn’t help but cast one last look deeper into the forest. Would the cats out here be able to brave the storm? They had to, some of them had been here for more than one winter. For a moment, his mind drifted to trying to figure out how they would make it through.
A light touch brought him back to the present as he turned to his companion once more, finding she was already on her way. “Coming!” Milo answered, trotting just enough to catch up with the molly. They’d surely be home before it got much heavier – the fences were still very clearly in sight, and considering they were alone, there was nothing in their way. At mention of Tristan, he thought on it for a moment. He didn’t leave during the day for too long, it was always in the evening that he left for more than a couple hours.
After a moment, he offered a nod, mewing, “I’m sure he is – he tries to make sure I’m inside before it snows.” Even if he wasn’t, surely he would be soon. He didn’t like to leave him out in the snow for too long. After being brought home, Milo had caught a cold that warranted a couple vet trips. Since then his boy was mindful of the weather in the cold months. The tabby was much healthier now than he was as a kitten, though, so he found the concern unwarranted. “He worries far too much,” he added fondly.

Binx -- The Mountains | With Alice - Feathertalon Perhaps it would’ve been better to simply leave rather than answer. After all, it wasn’t any of her business what she was doing out here. That, and this conversation meant she would be losing precious time to make it home. Alas, hunger and a shred of desperation had made her less analytical of her situation. It was a skill she could typically rely on and had aided her greatly after initially being dumped in the pines. Now, though? An empty stomach dulled her mind enough that assessing her circumstances had only been a second thought. Well, she supposed there was no use on dwelling on it – what was said was said, she would just need to work around it.
As the only agreed her dark fur was, in fact, not suited for the moorland, Binx only offered a slight nod. Well, at least there wasn’t any push back on that. It was obvious enough, though, so she supposed she hadn’t even needed to say it. Her next question, though, was a bit surprising for a couple reasons on her end. “I’m sorry – you said you have a hawk?” If nothing else, the black she-cat was always very aware of her size. Part of her was still quite sure that a such a bird of prey could whisker her to her end if she weren’t careful. Some of them even seemed big enough to capture a few of the larger cats she’d seen, yet the feline before her was saying that she’d simply caught one? As far as she was concerned, this was unheard of.
Still, this was the least of her concerns. A meal was being offered up to her, and she could already feel herself rejecting it despite the way her guts twisted at the thought. Any sort of meal would do her well, but she was also more than capable of catching her own food. Not that today was much proof of that at this specific moment, but still. On top of that, the cat before her smelled faintly of something else – maybe dog? Or some other animal she didn’t know… maybe it was multiple animals. There certainly weren’t any dogs up here, poor things probably wouldn’t last a day in the terrain. Regardless, she would assume that they both had some travels ahead of them, which made it all the more odd to make the offer. “What do you gain from giving up your food? I can’t imagine you live here, either, with the harsh winds.” Not quite a no, but she’d rather starve than outright agree.
Honey -- The Forest | With Shadow - runningsky123 As soon as the block tom’s tail went up, Honey launched herself forward to tackle the animal closest to her. She’d moved with such momentum that she tumbled a little, holding the writhing creature to her chest as she tried to get a hold of its neck. Finally landing on top of it, she got a good bite to the throat that cut its squeal short. Releasing it with a huff, the molly took a second to let her body relax as she licked the small bits of blood from her lips. A meal well worth the effort, but she did so hate how they wiggled about. Light stinging on her legs told her it may have scraped her skin or tried to bite her – nothing that wouldn’t heal itself in a couple days.
Standing up, she shook the snow out of her fur before looking at her hunting partner with a warm smile. “You hunt pretty well – would never guess you lived with twolegs if I didn’t smell them on you.” Yes, he would certainly have her fooled if not for his scent. It was a surprise that to her that he chose to live with them when he could clearly survive on his own. Then again, he seemed to be free to do as he please with the guarantee of shelter… No, that still wouldn’t be worth it to her, but to each his own.
For a moment, she turned her gaze to the sky, watching the snow come down towards them. It wasn’t bad yet, more than enough time to transfer their catch. “We should be well fed during the storm,” she meowed before picking up her weasel. “Just have to grab the other one then we can turn in,” Honey added, words muffled by the fur.

Magpie Moorlands // with Nova Dark
The bi-colored molly shrugged, dismissively flicking her tail at her sister. "She wasn't too interested in me, just passing by with her fawn. Of course I kept my distance." Magpie could be a bit careless at times, but she wasn't stupid. Deer didn't usually go after cats unless they felt threatened. Winter fawns were already a danger as is, rarely making it to the spring. Leafbare was too cold and cruel a season for their delicate bodies. There was nothing she would have gotten out of messing with an overprotective mama deer.
"What are you doing out here?" She asked, leaping down from her branch with a satisfying, soft crunch in the snow below. Giving a purr as delight rippled through her slender frame from the sound. Magpie didn't usually run into her sister unless they were looking for each other. She certainly didn't expect to see her on this particularly snowy morning. She didn't think she'd see anything for the rest of the day, let alone another cat. "Had any luck hunting?"
Smoke backed away almost reluctantly from their quick embrace, his muzzle still warm despite the flurries and despite him backing away from the ginger tabby. Pausing when Percy spoke up. Expecting the tom to say goodbye, but instead was proposed with another idea. Spend the night? He could feel his fur beginning to tingle with excitement. Of course they could take shelter together! How had he not thought of that? He was interested to see Percy's home. And he wasn't ready to depart, not yet. But why? But what about his herbs? Surely he couldn't just leave them. They were safely tucked away, far from the reach of any cats passing by. Safely underground on the sheer rock walls underneath the roots of his oak tree home. But what if a sick cat came looking for him and he wasn't there? He would feel terribly guilty. But healers needed breaks too, right? "What about my herbs?" He blurted, his excitement dulling into worry. "I doubt any cat would still them, or that they would go bad, but i just worry for them. Or if a cat comes that needs my help? I'll surely let them down." He went on, beginning to pace as he thought over all the different scenarios that could go wrong if he went to Percy's den. Realizing that he was rambling again, he straightened, shaking the icy droplets from his gray tabby fur. If they were going to make a decision it would need to be soon.
"You could come with me. And maybe I can show you all my herbs." Smoke offered his green eyes lighting up at the thought. Percy had been interested to learn about his skill, what better way was there than to show him physically all the many plants you could use to help a cat's health? "If you want, too that is. I mean it's the least I can do after hunting for me, offer my home to you. It isn't too far." Stop your chattering and spit it out. An irritable voice sounded in his head, his mother's voice. A quote she'd recite to him time and time again when he would get flustered this way. Why had Percy made him so... he couldn't quite put his paw on what he was feeling. But he knew now was not the time for it. It was only one night. He could leave in the morning. He wasn't tied down to being a healer. It was his job but what was one night. Percy was offering and he always put other cats first. Maybe this time he would put his wants first.
"But that can wait another day." He meowed finally, giving his companion a warm smile. If his mother could see him now. He was sure she'd be proud. Making decisions on his own. Cinder had been great at choosing herself when things got too overwhelming, but Smoke, not so much. But now, now was his chance to seize his moment. "Lead the way, I want to see where the great Percy calls home."

FranTwoleg Place // with Milo Myst
The long-furred molly couldn't help feeling a bit of pride. She'd conquered her lifelong fear today! Even if it were only for a little bit, she stepped past the treeline. That was an accomplishment by itself. Milo had even accomplished his goal of visiting past the treeline. Even though he didn't get to explore much. And they were returning home safely. And could go on to tell the tale of how they did. After the snow was done. Fran had never told any cat about her past traumas from venturing too deep into the woods. Milo was the first and only. Just wait until she got to tell the others about it!
She purred as she listened to Milo speaking of his boy. She was glad his owner was such a loving boy. Housefolk were usually that way. She'd heard stories from stray about how their housefolk had been mean, and evil creatures. But Fran herself had never encountered such a bad-spirited human. She was grateful herself and the other housecats she knew didn't have to deal with such an awful thing. "It is good that he worries. Imagine a day if they stopped worrying about us." She mewed softly, her eyes sparkling as she thought fondly of her own housefolk. "Kitty should be back home soon as well. She usually has treats for me whenever I return. Oh, and since it's cold she'll invite me to her bed with her warm bedding. Milo it's amazing! I wish you could try it." Humans had very weird devices. The first time Fran had lay on Kitty's heated bedding, it bewildered her. How could her bedding go from room temperature to warm so quickly? She could never figure it out, but she loved it all the same. Purring uncontrollably and sprawled onto her back from the warmth of it.
The flurries were coming down even wilder. But still not thick enough to cause a layering on the ground. At least they were past the treeline now. Just a few more houses and they would be close to their own homes. It had been a pleasant outing with Milo, as always. He was always a delight to be around, as all of her neighborhood friends were. "Do you think you would go and visit the woods again?" She asked curiously. Would she go back to herself? She wasn't quite sure. She didn't have that desire anymore. She'd conquered her fear already, wasn't that enough?

Peanut- At the barn w/ Wonder (Light )Peanut pricked his ears, listening intently to the molly. He had never experienced how it felt to sleep on straw before and he absorbed every word. Reaching out with a tiny paw, he poked the straw tentatively. Discovering how soft it was, he let out a small yelp of surprise. The straw looked as if it would be quite uncomfortable. Obviously, he got that wrong. He prodded the bundle once more, eyes sparkling with excitement. It was nice to have a friend. Peanut stopped his straw-poking and instead gazed up at Wonder questioningly. "What're you doing here by yourself, anyway? That doesn't seem much fun," he pointed out with a tilt of his head. Nova- Moorlands w/ Magpie (whispering )
Nova flicked her tail dismissively. "I was hunting not far off when I caught a whiff of your scent. I thought I'd stop by to share words with you." At the mention of prey, the she-cat continued with a shake of her head. "I haven't caught anything all day. All the prey is probably buried under the snow!" Though her tone was light-hearted, her expression said she felt anything but. They surely wouldn't last through leaf-bare if the prey continued running this low.

Lillith with Leo whispering The calico she-cat's ears perked up at the sound of her name being called. Instantly knowing that it was Leo, one of her barnmates. Turning her head, she smiled down at the ginger tom. "Just looking out at the snow." She replied, rising to her paws and balancing along the thin wooden fencing. Her tail raised high behind her as she met his amber gaze. "What are you doing down there." She retorted, her whiskers twitching in her amusement. Lillith was well aware that Leo had taken a liking to her. It was a mystery to her why the tom was always following her around at first, but it all clicked when he himself had told her. Nothing was wrong with Leo. He was a dutiful cat, and not too bad looking. She liked him, but she wasn't sure if he was the cat she'd spend the rest of her life with. She still had time to decide didn't she? She was young, there was no rush to settle down. Besides, Leo had much to prove to Lillith other than how hard-working he was on the farm. All those qualities were fine in a cat, but she was looking for more. Like what drives them to work so hard? Their goals and ambitions. What were they passionate about? Lillith had yet to actually know Leo. Leo beyond bravery and gosh, his arrogance. Lillith thought it was funny. She'd never met a cat who was so absorbed in themselves. It didn't bother her as much as it did the other cats. She never took his boasting so seriously. "Surely you of all cats wouldn't want to get your paws wet in this snow." The she-cat went on teasing him, leaping down from the post next to the stocky tom.
Night with Gardenia and Wisteria runningsky123 The tom's tufted ears twitched at the sound of pawsteps crunching toward him, turning his head to see the cream tabby, Wisteria, making her way towards him. He mewed a good morning as he further shoveled the snow away. "Yes, if you don't mind." He replied to her offer, pausing to overlook the clearing. "Just enough to make paths so we're not constantly trudging through this frozen madness." Night didn't too much care for the snow. His thick pelt protected him for the most part, blocking out the cold. But he hated the wetness that came with snow. It made his fur heavy and tangled. Causing him to constantly have to groom in order to avoid too many knots, or worse, matting. Tasks he simply did not have time for and thought it better to be avoided all together. "It's bad enough it causes a disadvantage for a successful hunt, no need to have it in my home too." He continued grumpily, shoving another pawful of snow away from him. "How was the den for you all? I hope nice and cozy."
Crystal with Kuta Myst Crystal dipped her head in farewell, watching as he bounded away, following the scent of his previous trail. What a strange day. She thought before turning tail and racing in the direction of her own den. Green eyes squinted against the cold wind, trying her best to block out the icy droplets that danced from the sky. Her grip on her prey firm as not to drop them. Her mind still swarming with all the things she'd learned today. Kittypets could come in all sizes it seemed, even huge cats that should rightfully be out in nature. And that the story tales her mother used to tell her about the moors and the woods, were not actually tales? Maybe. She wasn't sure yet. She would have to find out on their next journey together, to the mountains. To enter the cave where the stream emerged from. Would Kuta really find his answers there? Would she? Her and Kuta had agreed to ask cats they came across about the two groups in case any new information came up. Crystal doubted she would run into any more cats, but she decided not to let her hopes not. She didn't know why but the talk of the two groups intrigued her. A longing deep inside her urged her to join Kuta and help him uncover their secrets. She slowed her pace as she neared her home, making out the familiar scents through the gripping chill. Lowering herself to enter the tangle of bramble that she called her home. Dropping her prey and shaking out her dampened fur. Everything will work out fine. The blue-gray molly thought as she settled herself into her nest, twisting over to begin grooming her fur. A thoughtful gleam in her green eyes. She would help Kuta find his answers, and from there they would learn what their next step was. It was a funny thought. Referring to herself with Kuta. Making herself a part of his mission. But she liked the tom. He was a good cat. He'd helped her, and now it was her turn to return the favor. The beginnings of a long and fulfilling friendship had formed today. And Crystal for once didn't mind that in the very least.----- (Sorry this is late, I'll be on for the rest of today :3)

(No worries Feathertalon! I can totally relate haha!) --- (Darkwillow: Just curious, was Peanut born on the farm or brought there at some point?) WonderLocation: Barn With: Peanut ( Dark ) Watching you. There was no way she would say that. If he was asking, perhaps he really hadn't noticed her watching. Wonder felt some relief at this thought. Some of the tension slipped from her muscles and she sat up. At 14 moons, she was mostly grown- having the slim form of a young adult yet to fully fill out. She had never gotten much 'one on one' time with Peanut before. Usually she would observe him with the other cats of the barn, never really having the courage to pop by and say hello. "I like it here," she explained after a couple moments thought. She looked around at the scattered straw in this corner of the barn, and up at the stacks of bales behind her. They were perfect for climbing. All sorts of gaps and holes between each of the bales created an elaborate maze for her to hide in. "It's a comfortable place to rest and watch the others move about their day," she admitted. Now if he had seen her staring- maybe she wouldn't seem like some sort of creep. In truth, the bale stack was a much better place to keep an eye on things. It was much easier to hide there too. Then an idea came to her. Maybe she could show him the view she so enjoyed. She looked back at the kit before her, her green eyes wide like his own, but she was hesitant to say anything. She hesitated an uncomfortable moment before spitting out her question in a rush of words. "Can-you-climb?" She inwardly cringed at herself. Was that a dumb question? Her paws shifted nervously in the straw as she awaited his answer. Was this a bad idea?

(Peanut was born at the barn!) Peanut- At the barn w/ Wonder (Light)
Peanut didn't seem to notice the slight awkwardness in Wonder's replies. Instead, he followed her gaze over to the bales of hay behind the molly, craning his neck to get a better look. It was silly to remember how he worried about them toppling over just moons ago. Now he could see that they appeared to be quite sturdy, to his relief. The last thing he wanted was a Peanut pancake. He turned his eyes back to his companion, who was now gazing at him like she was expecting him to say something. He paused for a moment, then registered the question Wonder had asked him not even a few seconds ago. "Climb?" He looked up at the hay bales once more, as if deciding whether or not his stumps for legs would be reliable enough to make the journey. "I haven't tried before... but it doesn't look hard to learn!" he squeaked, tiny tail twitching with determination. He wanted to show Wonder that he could learn how to do anything! Especially considering they hadn't interacted much before today he could make a good impression.

Random question - but do we have any characters that y’all want in future roles of authority clan wise?? I know we have some cats setting up to be medicine cats but what about leaders/deputies
mostly asking because I think I might have an idea for a new character
Also replies will be up shorty - it’s just a matter of how long it’ll take for my laptop to boot up

Lol I've been thinking about that recently. I've been thinking of Wisteria maybe being a med cat of some sort? She has the caring aspect for it. Like, med cat apprentice or just another med cat.
And maybe Flame for a deputy? Kinda like a 'youre related to the old Clans" type reason? Just thoughts, I don't want to seem like 'yeah all of my characters must be in cool positions'

i also think of that when i read everyone's replies that lol since our group is pretty small, i don't see much of an issue with some people having authoritative roles in both clans, i don't see any of my characters being cats of power other than smoke as of right now
also, typing up my own replies atm

oooo i'd totally be down for both of those! im sorta thinking that with medicine cats we aren't limited to just the typical two positions for it and a clan can have as many medicine cats as there are interested and willing cats
theyre also allowed to have mates and kits because screw that rule and flame for a deputy would be fun if that's fine with everybody else c':

Shadow would be good deputy material if he was younger, but he's gonna be an elder. But yeah, I just don't want to seem like, pushy or anything. I'm very socially anxious and overthink everything.
Also yessss, down with the no mates or kits rule. And yeah, that sounds good. Especially since they're kinda making it up as they go, lol.

nah, it's all good, running! you aren't pushy or anything c': we've got a good group here so i feel like there wont be any issues when it comes to the more limited roles like leader and deputy
for sure, the clans won't be structured all that well at the start

Wila »
An immediate vibration of purrs exploded from Wila the moment she spotted Flame’s ginger tabby pelt. Before she could even stop herself she had leaned forward, nuzzling the side of her face against the tom’s flanks. She honestly didn’t think much of it; this was how she would greet her other friends, and that’s what Flame was now - a friend. Perhaps the only odd thing about all of this was just how fast Wila had accepted Flame into her bubble of friends. While the Burmese wasn’t a standoffish cat, she had the sense to at least wait a little longer before giving all her time and energy to another cat, yet here she was, having only met Flame once but already prepared to go out into the snowy woods with him all because he had said he had felt drawn to them.
While it would have been smarter to have waited a little longer, or at least until some of the snow had melted away in the sun, Wila didn’t have the patience for that. From how impatient she had felt last night she knew for a fact that there was no way she could have waited any longer. ”Just waiting overnight was too long for me, I really couldn’t have survived not knowing what’s out there any longer,” she responded back teasingly, yet there was truth in her words as well. All night she had been ready to run back to Flame and spend time with him so of course she had done just that the moment the sun had lit up the sky.
Wila stood by Flame’s side a moment longer, drawing in his warmth, before she pulled away, motioning him to follow her to the tree line with her tail. ”Do you even know how to hunt?” It was a serious question with a playful twist. Wila didn’t know anything about Flame’s past. For all she knew he could have been a wildcat before finding a home with humans, then again, the way the tom talked about being drawn into the forest had Wila assuming he had never lived away from the comforts of humans. Between the two of them their odds of catching forest prey was low, but not impossible. Wila didn’t know much about how to catch a wild animal, but she had listened to Frazzle anytime he had explained his hunting techniques, so surely she had picked up a few tricks from him. Hunting couldn’t be too hard if wild cats did it all the time.
Creamsicle »
The only way Creamsicle would have known her comments had caused a storm to form inside Cotton would have been if the old molly had outright told her. Despite everything that had happened to the kit she was still naive and innocent, living mostly in a world that she based on her own experiences with family, and other than what the twolegs had done to her and her littermates, Creamsicle had only good experiences.
Snow began to steadily fall from the dove gray sky. Creamsicle turned her head upward, blue eyes gazing up at the thick clouds. Eating had warmed her up, but the wind was growing colder and the rabbit wouldn’t keep her warm for long. ”How far is your den?” The question came with a worried look as Creamsicle pressed her flank against Cotton’s tail. The idea of crossing the moor still frightened Creamsicle. It was the woods that she had lived near for all five moons of her life, and never had she ventured out to the moorland. Doing that now, even with Cotton at her side, filled the kit with a disturbing trepidation that had her hesitant to follow. Even still she kept to Cotton’s side, though her steps were shaky at the idea of entering the moor.

Percy »
Anxiety prickled underneath Percy’s pelt. He wasn’t going to fault Smoke if he said no to them staying the night with one another, and he wouldn’t mind if Smoke said no, but he was nervous about what the gray tom would say. If Smoke decided against the idea then Percy would just look for him in the morning, but so many things could happen by then. What if Smoke had to leave to help a cat in the middle of the night? This snowfall was sure to cause accidents and illnesses that would need to be treated as soon as possible. Percy understood if Smoke wanted to stay in his den with the herbs, and honestly, Percy had no problem staying in the other tom’s den if they decided to stay together for the night. Clearly he could hear Smoke going over everything that could happen if he were to leave his herbs for the night.
”Hey, it’s-” Percy was about to say that it was okay, that they didn’t have to share his den for the night when Smoke continued to ramble on. The ginger and white tom paused, ears perked upward while a concerned expression formed on his face. He didn’t want to rush Smoke’s decision making, but the snow was starting to fall faster and in larger flakes. Percy shook his pelt off as the snow melted against his fur. The chill of winter was starting to snake its way into even the thickest areas of his pelt. He shook the flurries off a second time. ”I’d love to come with you. I do still want to learn more about herbs.” It made sense to stay over at Smoke’s den more than it did staying at Percy’s. There was no chance that a cat would stop by his den and need his help whereas with Smoke an injured cat could stop by at any moment. Plus he really did want to learn more about herbs. Percy had never had much of an interest in the art of healing, but now that he knew there was all kinds of things he could learn he was interested.
But this was not where Smoke ended his deliberations. Surprise sparked in Percy’s green gaze when he heard the gray tom say it was time for them to head to Percy’s den instead. Confusion decorated his visage for a moment, but he soon perked up, flashing that characteristic lopsided smirk at his new friend. ”Follow me!” He mused as he whisked his tail around and turned on his paws, heading away from the steam and deeper into the snowy woodlands.
Alice »
Again a chuff of amusement so low and quiet that not even Alice picked up on the noise denoted a lighter tone to the situation. This newcomer did not do that good of a job hiding her emotions, or maybe she did, but in this particular situation the circumstances made it hard. Either way, Alice could clearly read the surprise that danced across the black cat’s face. There was nothing obscuring the shock. ”Yes. Should I show you the feathers for proof?” Alice asked levelly. Should this cat need evidence that she had caught a hawk then the tortoiseshell would gladly give it. Catching the hawk had been relatively easy, though she understood this stranger’s shock. While hawks could fly and chickens could not, Alice had used the same technique she used for a chicken, not that she hunted chickens anymore. There had been a time when she had hunted the farmer’s chickens, back when she had been young and rather stupid for lack of a better term. Alice had learned rather quick what happened to cats if they went after any chickens, and that was a lesson the tortoiseshell had never forgotten. But that didn’t mean she had lost the technique, especially when it had come in handy when hunting wild birds such as this hawk here.
The next question that came from the black molly had Alice wondering if this cat was somebody she could respect in the long run. It was a tactical inquiry, a question Alice would have asked if the roles were reversed. ”I gain nothing,” Alice meowed simply with a shrug of her shoulders. ”The most I’d gain is knowing that another cat is fed for today.” The black molly would be gaining much more than Alice ever would from sharing her prey.
Alice shifted on her paws yet her eyes remained on the other feline just below her. ”You’re right. I’m not from here, but where I am from has enough prey for me and my family. I only came here to eat something different, and I’ve had my fill.” Hunger was never much of a problem for Alice, even in the winter time. The barn always had plenty of rodents to pick from. She had planned on bringing the rest of the hawk back to the barn with her to give the others something different to eat as well, but if this stranger wanted the hawk then she could have it. Prey wasn’t something Alice needed to fight over. It wasn’t a luxury for the tortoiseshell like it was to some others.

Magpie Moorlands // with Nova Dark
"Haven't eaten in a while?" She asked, padding closer to her white-furred littermate. Worry clouding over her green eyes. "We can go looking for something together." Magpie wasn't starving, she was sure to make it until the snow melted. But if Nova needed her she would help her out all that she could. The last thing she wanted was to see her suffering from her hunger. Pressing herself against her sister, she purred, the worry melting from her expression to be replaced with mischief. "I don't need you getting any smaller than you already are." Leo Farm // with Lillith 𝑏𝑙𝑒𝑢
"I'm patrolling the farm." He meowed matter-of-factly, lifting his head proudly. The others didn't understand his ways, and Leo didn't mind that they didn't. He liked being the cat that took the extra step to ensure that the farm was safe. Even if it was the dogs' job already. There was no harm in double checking.
Leo padded closer to the fence, peering out at the open moors. Blanketed in snow for miles and miles. Looks borin' to me. He thought as his amber eyes lazily scanned the snowy wasteland before him. Why Lillith was so interested in it, the ginger tom had no clue. But if it made her happy then he guessed it was fine. He supposed every cat had the things they were passionate about. He was passionate about his duties, and Lillith was passionate about... looking out at the snow. A snort escaped him at her next remark, watching as she landed across from her. His eyes shooting playful daggers. "Me? 'Fraid to get my paws wet? Never!" It was true, Leo could be a bit arrogant at times. But not to the extent of a kittypet. Surely Lillith thought more of him than that! "I'll show you." He growled, flinging a pawful of snow at the calico she-cat before darting away.
