The relative silence of the forest as the traveled together was nice. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d traveled with any cat just for the sake of doing so. No, they covered the most ground together when hunting, and when she’d go with him to the treeline when he would go home. This was something new – something different. When was the last time she’d done something different?

Well, she’d taken in a strange cat in the dead of leaf-bare. That had certainly been different. Good different, she would argue. It wasn’t often that she found another that put up with her stubborn ways, even if it meant not necessarily admitting she was wrong. Shadow had been very patient with her, evening her out in ways even her parents couldn’t. He’d been quite good at shedding some light on her more hare-brained ideas, even now. Of course she wouldn’t be forced from her home just because a few cats wanted to live together – how ridiculous she would’ve thought such a thing to begin with.

Before long the trees were thinning out around them and Honey was slowing her already leisurely pace as the frozen banks of the river slowly came into view. “There it is,” she mewed, turning blue eyes back to her companion. Slowing to a stop, she dropped the earlier catch, gazing turning back to the frozen surface of the water. There were some areas that weren’t totally iced over, making it clear that the water moved as normal beneath the surface. Beyond it, tall grasses shifted and rustled in the occasional breeze. It didn’t look like anything special, at least not from here. The tree bridge was just a few paces down stream from them, but she didn’t make any moves for it just yet. “It looks so… bare.”

“You go near any of these cats alone and I’ll have your hide.” His words were firm, no room left for any sort of back and forth, despite the spark of irritation he saw in her eyes at his words. Still, he continued on steady as ever. Behind him, he vaguely heard the exchange between Spark and Heather, the molly confirming she was fine and that she was heading back to the barn. That wasn’t unfair. Still, he felt some sense of guilt that it even happened.

Focusing back on the newcomer, he nodded back toward the way they came. “Go back to the house, have your nose looked at. I’ll meet you there.” Bo said after watching her for a moment. The younger dog hesitated, simply staring at him. It seemed she was in awe of being dismissed. After a moment, though, she gave a flick of the ear before turning away from the trio and departing.

Sighing, the guardian gave himself another quick shake in effort to relax further as he padded back to Spark. “That could’ve gone better,” Bo murmured. “Alice isn’t gonna like the news. I can only imagine she went unchecked at her first farm… Be honest with me – do you think Alecto’ll come around?”

Also! I figured I'd mention for ya'll. I would really like to do a romance with Edwina? I just have to go back and look at all the ages of everyone (and maybe edit hers??) But yes. I would particularly like to have a romance with her. Slowburn style, most likely .w.)

soot I’m also very open to that!! I really liked how their first interaction with each other went, it felt very natural and Zinnia is definitely a cat that I could see Milo unknowingly forming an extremely close attachment to and by the time he realized it’d be too late, he’d be in so deep

Honestly if Milo were to join a clan it would be SylvanClan, but he’d have to work up to the idea of leaving his boy first - once he was up for leaving his twoleg den he may honestly end up joining the clan because while he made the choice to live outside, he may find living on his own intimidating. He also loves having other cats around, so that would also be a draw for him
I could see him either ultimately leaving his boy for Zinnia, so he wouldn’t have to worry about returning home, or his curiosity simply gets the best of him and he either makes some forest friends or hears a very good pitch for the clan. Ultimately if he were to join the clan and Zinnia didn’t, inevitably he would leave the clan to be with him
