Anime, TV, and Movie Reviews
-Currently working on going through the Crunchyroll catalog alphabetically because I like giving myself impossible challenges
009-1: The End of the Beginning: 2 🌟
- Eh. Where do I even start? Story is halfway to decent but completely overshadowed by the fact that the post effects are so awful it's funny. Not to mention 009-1's uuuuh, "enhancements" are ridiculous and love interests get gross rather quick. Honestly the only reasons why I watched it through were it was the first of the catalog and it was so bad that it was ALMOST good.
07 Ghost: 4 🌟
-I really liked this one! Love the characters and the story was pretty decent for the double season. No love interests but just about every blonde male character has implied dialogue with Teito (MC) so score 1 for the bois 🏳️🌈. Only thing that kept it from a 5 for me is the fact that it's cliffhangered HARD. But there is a manga I believe so if you need more it's there, but the anime is not 100% faithful to the manga iirc.
11eyes: 2 🌟
- The first 4 episodes were great, but the more I watch the more and more I start to dislike it, so time will tell.
-
EDIT #1: I'm through half the anime, and it's kinda laughable at this point. highest I can give this one at the current point is 3 stars out of 5, but Yuka (best friend/self-involved love interest of the mc) absolutely drives me farther and farther up a wall every episode. And with episode 6, the mc (who's name I can't remember without looking up or going to watch more) is FINALLY starting to be kinda boss, only to now go into a beyond crippling seizure every time he uses his power because he's "not ready yet." Needless to say, my rating is dropping more and more the more I watch... still.
-
EDIT #2 (Episode 7): Wow. just woow. And not a good wow either. All Yuka has done is cry and not trust anyone, and she gets to awaken her power from that? and to top it off, her power (while arguably the best) is a downfall for her friends because it affects them too. Not to mention that the
ecchi scenes (which weren't tasteful/practical to begin with) are so just... idk how to put it... disconnected, that the scenes in 009-01 seem more believable is just pathetic.
Despite how much I'm DRILLING into this anime though, I do really like Yukiko's character concept. it's just a shame that it's lumped in with such a lousy anime
-
EDIT #3 Episodes 8-9: This is the last edit before my final thoughts, but man I'm tired of this anime. The one character that wasn't directed involved that I like got killed off. I just need to finish this anime and move on lol.
-
FINAL EDIT: Actual trash ending, I hate that they killed everyone just for them to actually not be dead. I hate the parallel worlds. I hate the cop out of everything. Honestly considered giving it a one star, but then I'd also have to go and give 009-01 a one star too. Idk, I still just might do that.
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation:
Season 1: 5 🌟
- I love love love this anime. Is it raunchy at times? Yes. Is it questionable at times with said raunchiness? Even more yes. But damn does it have charm. There's a reason why this is
THE ISEKAI of Isekais. I love the characters, the world, the world BUILDING, everything about it. Yes there's are uncomfortable scenes, character motives, triggering situations, etc. but in a way that gives the anime more life than the light novels have imo. At least for the first (double) season.
Season 2: Currently Watching (Episode 2 on)
-
Episode 0: Never would I think in a million years that a "pilot" for a second season that only includes ONE character from season 1 would work this well. Just wow
-
Episode 1 (Beginning of the Depressed Mage Arc): And just like that we are back to Rudeus, deep into his severe depression (you'll understand it after the end of season 1) and man he's rock bottom and I FELT for that. Such an amazing episode. To avoid spoilers since this is in the current anime season rotation, everything from here will be spoiler warning, but it's nothing major.
I'm SOOO happy that they decided to only do the whole super depressed schtick for this episode, him breaking it at the end has me beyond excited for the next episode, which I will watch later (07/22/2023)
-
Episode 2: Once again, highly enjoyable episode, however I do finally have one gripe. They are jumping forward in comparison to the Light Novels a little too much. Perhaps they are going this fast to potentially catch up with the LN, but it's leaving a lot of stuff out. info in Spoiler's of course
1. Rudeus's Nickname is Quagmire, but they never explain how that is in the show like they do in the LN, he just all of a sudden gets it.
2. The snow drake scene and Sara's rescue are BOTH in this episode when they had plenty of stuff to put in in between that they just didn't.
-
Episodes 3 & 4: As expected, both fantastic in their own rights. Definitely still in the "Depressed Mage" arc (iykyk, End of episode 3 I'm looking at you) but it seems like we are fully coming out of that coming into episode 5. Still a bit of time skipping, but NOW they've explained the nickname, so everything (kinda) makes sense. Episode 4 gets pretty steamy too, with the elf character that always has men around her meeting up with Rudy
Attack on Titan (Rewatch): Currently Watching
- I've watched the whole thing before, but I'll edit this every time my wife and I finish a season with my rating of the seasons, and an overall at the end.
18if: 4🌟
- Really dig this one! It made me think, laugh, and feel bad for the individual characters
