Ashcloud • Tom • FighterLocation: Mossclan territory with Riverthorn & BunnyleapShadowfire daydreams Ashcloud raised his brow silently for a moment, a bit perplexed by the she-cat's lackadaisical approach. He was known to be a pretty lazy cat himself, but there was a lingering concern that Riverthorn didn't even care what they were doing. Even so, he didn't let it show as he lapped up a few mouth fulls of water, stepping away when he was satisfied. "We'll certainly be coasting the forest for a little, but it does lead right into the heart of the forest." the gray cat continued thoughtfully with a small nod to himself. "Just north of the Fallen Oaks..." he added, more to himself as he tried to recall the basic layout of the forest. It was likely the patch of forest where the fox had been sighted earlier, and where the patrol had chased it out.
Frankly, he'd be glad to stay in the northern part of the forest with the rivers growing more aggressive with new leaf. He hardly wanted to risk getting swept away in the rushing water. He doubted they'd have too much choice in the matter though, after all, one patch of forest was not the whole of the border. |

As the fighter drank water, she stopped and gave a back pawstep. Lifting her head the molly asked: "Do you know the certain spot where the fox was?" This sounded a little bit mouse-brained for Riverthorn. Maybe she didn't gave attention to the clan meeting.

Ashcloud • Tom • FighterLocation: Mossclan Territory with Riverthorn & BunnyleapShadowfire daydreams If Ashcloud were more ambitious, he might have just taken the lead on the patrol given how lackadaisically Riverthorn had taken the whole situation, but he could hardly say he'd been much better. After all, he'd simply relaxed in camp while the fox patrol went out to deal with the threat, not exactly the most go-getting of attitudes. "Well, Stormstar said the Dry forest. I guess we just start from the northern end and work down? I doubt we'll have too much trouble telling when we're there." The gray tom paused, scrunching up is face in exaggerated disgust as he said the following, "Starclan knows you can't miss their stench by any means." Ashcloud certainly couldn't begin to guess exacts, but if Stormstar said the boarder along the dry forest, he could only assume that meant making their way west from camp and following the boarder south. Even so, he assumed they'd catch the stale traces of the fox long before the went too deep into the forest regardless. "At any rate, I have a nap to catch after this so lets get moving, yeah?" |

The fighter breathed, trying to show her maturity. "Ok, we shall go.. Bunnyleap, are you ready?" The molly asked to the large cat. She was almost giving up of leading the patrol. But, Riverthorn wanted to show her calm and organized side.

Alligatorpaw mumbled a quick, half-hearted apology for scaring the fellow apprentice. She had never managed to successfully escape camp without her mentor or an older sibling following her, and it was a relaxing thought to simply be out and about for something other than training, even if she was bound to get into trouble when she returned. An apprentice as loud as Alligatorpaw was hard to miss. However, she dismissed those thoughts and instead decided to focus on the present.
The fluffy molly listened to Echopaw as he stuttered, an amused snort escaping her. "Don't worry, your secret is safe with me. Plus, I'd get in trouble for leaving camp after you instead of telling anyone, so it's not like I'm going to speak to Lionpetal about it."  ✸✸❣✸✸
The large tom stood silently to the side as his companions lapped at the water to refresh themselves. He wasn't thirsty himself, so he simply waited patiently on the two of them, listening as the two of them spoke. His muscles were tense, always ready. Bunnyleap wasn't the type to sit still for long when there was a job to be done, so after a few moments, the fluffy tom started to become antsy. Getting to his feet, he sunk his claws into the ground below him. His ears perked when Ashcloud suggested that the small group begin to move. "I agree with Ashcloud. The sooner we get moving, the sooner we can return."

"Alright, let's go!" The fighter said with a mature tone. She always was a bit skittish out of the territory. But, she calmed down and tried to look more expert. The molly led the patrol, on the side of the Small island. Riverthorn made a bored face, since the misunderstading on their stop.

With the seemingly unanimous decision to keep moving, Ashcloud picked his way across the soft ground along with the rest of the small patrol. Thankfully, with the fox gone, and all the commotion of the event, he doubted they'd run into much trouble. Granted, it was unwise to lower one's guard but Ashcloud wasn't one to be particularly on the ball even on the good day. Eventually the soft ground would shift to the stiffer forest floor of the Dry forest, leafy underbrush and nettles prickling at his pads as they continued. It was quiet but comfortably so, only the natural sounds of birds overhead and the rustle of the leaves and branches that were beginning to return to life.
However, it wasn't until they'd made significant distance into the forest that an odd tangy scent hit the tom's nose. At first it only seemed the stale remnants of a fox, but something.. copper-y just beneath set the tom's fur on edge. Blood? "Do you guys smell that...?" The gray tom inquired warily, though doing his best not to seem paranoid. He was no tracker ad certainly didn't have the nuance of one, but he could swear it seemed stronger than the lingering remnants of the fox. (( Pushing us forward a bit so we can get this done and the gathering going. I imagine everyone will be more active once we got that outta the way and can get back to normal things LOL )) |

The fighter nodded, showing that she could identify the smell. She wondered while talking: "Maybe is it from the earlier patrol? I don't know.." The molly wanted to ease the situation for a moment. The only thing that Riverthorn wanted is a more harmful predator.

daydreams // Stormstar with Lionpetal, camp entrance Stormstar sat up as Lionpetal approached him, his ears flicking his deep thoughts away. "Ah, evening Lionpetal. Thank you, let's share." He suggested, appreciating her gesture. "I was wondering about the gathering tonight.. It's the last one before we move to our other camp and it would be easier if everything ran smoothly." He let the medicine cat in on his thought process; he trusted her. Stormstar had always respected her strenghth and intelligence, even though he found it difficult to grasp her personality at first. While the she-cat was completely blind, she was a very gifted medicine cat in his eyes. "I hope the arrival of the fox wasn't foreshadowing for something bad yet to come." Maybe he was just worrying too much, they fought it off without too much trouble. But why did it feel like he was waiting for something to go wrong? Had life been too easy lately? The tom pawed at the mouse, taking a small thoughtful bite, before he shoved it back in front of Lionpetal.

Ashcloud couldn't help but doubt Riverthorn's optimistic words, if only because he recalled the fairly decent state of everyone when they'd returned to camp. No major injuries, if any at all... and he doubted they'd have made such a clean return if they'd done enough to the fox to warrant such a scent of blood. From his understanding they had managed to run it off quite cleanly... "Maybe.. but... Well, we should make sure since were out here." he replied tentatively, as if not wanting to sound as though he were trying to talk over the she-cat who was, by all means, the leader of the patrol. Despite his intentions, he didn't wait for permission to change direction and angled away from the path they were on towards the scent of blood. He was no tracker by any means, but gratefully enough, the scent remained strong enough to follow.
(Skipping forward a smidge cause man we've been slacking, but mostly me lol)
It was a fair jog across the forest ground before the sight of a fox den came into view, a fairly inconspicuous hole etched into a small hill of dirt and stone. Initially the clearing seemed normal, bones were fairly common but the coppery tang in the air had grown stronger and strangely... fresher. It didn't take much investigation to find the slender form of Ivysight crumpled in a heap nearby the den itself, blood caking the torn remnants of her fur and her eyes long glazed over with death. A yowl of grief and horror escaped Ashcloud as he darted forward on instinct, prodding the stiffening body of his mother as if it'd be enough to bring life back into her. "Mother? Mother, please wake up...!" he exclaimed, voice heavy with grief. "Please, we've come.. we can get you home and then..." His words trailed off as his face twisted in emotional agony, knowing well she was long gone from this world but unwilling to let the belief set in. He wanted to believe she would just.. wake up, that Lionpetal or Harespring could simply slap a poultice on her and she'd be right as rain again. |

Open // Foxtail, clearing
Foxtail had succesfully managed to keep himself away from his brother's prying eyes today, which he saw as a great accomplishment. He'd been napping in the shade of the plants near the medicine cat's den for the last few hours. Silently listening while sometimes dozing off. When Stormstar made the announcement to take him to the gathering he had let out a loud sigh. Ofcourse this perfect day of being unbothered couldn't go on forever.. He wasn't particularly looking forward to making the walk. Though, he was sure he could make it more interesting by poking some fun at Galeclan cats and maybe he could pick up some gossip while he was at it too. For now he'd just keep one eye open while his head rested on his paws. Waiting for the group of cats to leave for the gathering.

"Ashcloud! Ashcloud!" The fighter had lost the patrol's way. The molly walked near the hole, covered by a fern. When Riverthorn reminded the tom's scent, she took care. With light steps, she carefully pulled the fern out of her sight. Her jaws had dropped, Ivysight probably dead would never fade of her mind. With a yowl of cry, she told: "Ashcloud, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!"
