Daybreeze could hardly hide his amusement when he noticed that he'd startled Cinderfrost, even letting out a quick chortle. It seemed that the other tom was also tickled by the situation, his purr reaching Daybreeze's ears and making him smile. The mention of a hunt had certainly caught his attention, and the fluffy white warrior gave an eager nod. "I say let's go, my paws have been itching to get out into the forest anyways."
He'd nearly forgotten that Cinderfrost had an apprentice, and once Rainpaw was brought up, he found himself trying to look for the young tom's tabby coat. His orange eyes narrowed into slits as he squinted, as if that would help his search any. "He is quiet, isn't he?" Daybreeze mused aloud, he was often on patrol with Cinderfrost and his apprentice and between the three of them, Rainpaw hardly uttered a chirp.
"Well, I don't see him, so it looks like it'll just be the two of us!" He grinned as he spoke, finally standing and immediately making his way towards the entrance. If he made a quick dash out of there, perhaps it would give Cinderfrost no choice but to follow. Not that he didn't enjoy Rainpaw's presence, he just felt awkward around the younger tom's silent nature. ————- 𓆱 ————-

@ 🎄ᦓρ꠸ᥴꫀᠻꪖꪀᧁ🎅 Annoyance prickled at Duckfoot's pelt as she looked through the prey pile. She couldn't believe that Cherryleap had the audacity to tell her to bring some food for Cottontail. Not that she didn't want to, but that was an apprentice's job, and she'd been a warrior for well over fifteen moons by now. Seemed that a lot of the apprentices had left for some training, or were still asleep. Maybe Cherryleap should have bothered them about doing their jobs, she thought to herself as she nosed around the pile. The voices of Daybreeze and Cinderfrost caught her attention and she heard them mentioning something about a hunting party, which she nearly volunteered herself to join, but Daybreeze was already running off. That left her giving Cinderfrost an awkward smile before she picked up a sad looking shrew.
"Breakfast time, Cottontail." Duckfoot announced around the fur in her mouth as she stepped into the elders den. One look at the elder molly and she could see just how tired Cottontail was. It made the white and brown warrior feel slightly guilty for making such a big deal to herself earlier. "Did you get enough sleep?" She asked, trying to make some small talk. ————- 𓆱 ————-

Cherryleap let out a sigh after she walked away from Duckfoot, easily reading the annoyance across the young molly's face as she asked her to check on Cottontail. She knew it couldn't be easy for a young warrior to do an apprentice's job, but it had to be done. Trying to ignore Duckfoot's grumbling from behind her, the calico padded towards the entrance and squeezed through. She figured some fresh air would do nicely, plus the warmer weather was perfect for laying out.
New Sun brought an abundance of prey and promised a time of peace between the two clans, but Cherryleap could do without the heat when it was the middle of Greenleaf. It didn't take long before she found herself at the shimmerpool, the babbling of the small brook was like music to her ears. The slender molly crouched down beside the bank of the shallow pool and began to lap at the clear water. Still cold and refreshing, Cherryleap drank until she was quenched, but stayed crouched to watch as pond skimmers hopped about and caused ripples wherever they landed. |

Cinderfrost smiled hearing Daybreeze agree with his idea. "Mine too Daybreeze," The gray tom looked at the white warrior again, with cold eyes,"I don't understand why no cat hasn't gone out and done any basic tasks too. I can't believe we are the first hunting patrol to go out for the day."
Cinderfrost looked around camp, looking for his apprentice one more time before heading out with Daybreeze. "He's way too quiet for my liking." The tom started thinking about he ended up with such a timid apprentice. Rainpaw was the complete opposite of his personality, so Cinderfrost felt as if he couldn't push Rainpaw to his limits because he was afraid of scaring him. "I sometimes wonder why Redstar gave me Rainpaw. Our personalities clash way too much."
The gray cat let out a purr hearing Daybreeze's amused tone. "Wait for me you furball!" He quickly stood up, following Daybreeze to the entrance of camp. Finally catching up to the white warrior, he let out a mew,"Should we go hunt at the Shimmerpool or the Preyrocks today?" He decided to let Daybreeze choose where to hunt for the day since he picked last time. |

Nighthawk exhaled, letting his muscles untense, his fur clinging to his pelt from the moist air. He was not about to embarrass himself by letting his emotions control him. At Finchpool's question, he glanced over his shoulder at the tom. "If we see a BrambleClan patrol we run them out of the woods," he explained curtly. The dark tom felt no reason to give those dustballs any form of courtesy if they were found slinking around their forest.

Finchpool shrugged a bit"just a suggestion"he said before moving back to the den. He continued to push dirt in, trying to get it as filled as possible.
Dewpaw shook his head"not very much, maybe at my medicine cat ceremony?"he said, hopeful

"Eh, at least we're going out now." Daybreeze really wasn't too worried about patrols not having been sent out yet. It was Fallingsnow's job anyways to be sending out patrols, so it would look bad on him and not on them. He didn't try to hide his smirk as Cinderfrost called out to him, telling him to wait up, but he did slow down just for his friend, thinking over his question. "Let's go to Preyrocks. We'll probably have a better chance over there anyways."
Once they had started on the path towards Preyrocks, Daybreeze continued their conversation. "Maybe Redstar thought that you might rub off on dear little Rainpaw, help him gain some confidence." He looked ahead as he spoke, squinting against the light fog that plagued their forest and nearly tripped over a tree root, but managed to hop over it just in time. "You're lucky, though, at least he listens to you." Of all apprentices to receive, Rainpaw wasn't the worst of the prospects. He mentally cringed as he thought about Nighthawk and Frostpaw, whose personalities might've been a little too similar. ————- 𓆱 ————-

@ 🎄ᦓρ꠸ᥴꫀᠻꪖꪀᧁ🎅 After dropping off the prey, Duckfoot almost turned to leave after Cottontail answered her question, but she stopped as the older molly continued the conversation. It wasn't that she didn't want to stay and chat, but the brown and white tabby warrior was just feeling impatient. She'd stopped being marveled by the stories of the elders just after graduating to an apprentice, always eager to be training or playing with her friends out in the territory. Everything felt so much slower in the elder's den, it made her pelt itchy.
And yet, Duckfoot remained, feeling a little guilty after she caught the lonely look that Cottontail gave. "I've been doing fine. It's been a slow morning so far, not a lot of patrols have been sent out." She turned her head towards the den's entrance, remembering that Nighthawk, Finchpool, and Frostpaw had gone out just as she'd woken up. They were probably due to back soon. "I could talk to Ferretsnap, or Dewpaw, about bringing some poppyseeds for you tonight." |

Cinderfrost let out a deep purr hearing his dear friend's choice. "Prey Rocks is always a good choice to go anyways." Daybreeze is such an excellent friend! I'm very lucky to have someone that isn't mouse-brained here with me today. Cinderfrost subconsciously smiled thinking of the white tom, almost forgetting their original task of hunting until he heard the tom's voice.
"Me? Rubbing off my personality onto my apprentice? " the gray cat let out a laugh hearing this,"Rainpaw wouldn't pick up my personality even if he needed to to survive, but you're right. Besides his timid personality, I can confidently say that Rainpaw is perhaps the best future prospect for Thistleclan, after me of course." Once more Cinderfrost let out a cheeky smile.
"I wonder when Redstar will give you a tiny apprentice of your own soon. It's about time you get one." The cat imagined scenarios of the two as mentors training their inexperienced apprentices together for a quick moment, before going back to reality. |

Daybreeze padded alongside his friend, his gaze turned upwards towards the sky. It was a much more beautiful day out than he thought. He supposed the seasons really were changing. A smile tugged on his lips when Cinderfrost complimented his choice of hunting grounds, of course his ideas should be praised, they were all good ones. His head tilted towards the gray warrior as he laughed, drawing a chuckle from the white tom himself.
"I suppose stranger things have happened. Plus, you can't blame Redstar for trying." He said with a shrug, then rolled his eyes at what Cinderfrost said next. "Yeah, after you and only you." Daybreeze nudged his companion with his shoulder, attempting to throw him off balance a little. Rude of Cinderfrost to look him over like that, but he really wasn't that offended.
At the mention of gaining his own apprentice, Daybreeze frowned. "Who knows, soon I hope." He really wanted to become a mentor, and no offense to present company, he couldn't believe that Cinderfrost had become one before him. He was older, had more experience as a warrior, was a peach to work with - in his own opinion. "Maybe she'll give me Rainkit and we'll both have had Rainpaw's. Or maybe I'll receive one of Pollenflutter's few. Either way it won't be for a while." ————- 𓆱 ————-

"Is there anything else you need before I go?" She asked, almost hesitantly. The young molly would hate to leave the elder if she didn't feel properly cared for, and maybe she'd taken the excuse to talk to Ferretsnap all too quickly. Maybe Cherryleap chose the wrong cat to check on Cottontail, or maybe she was just too impatient. Duckfoot didn't really linger on that thought any longer and just smiled at the elder molly. |
