Telling when other's where joking, was a skill that the royal guard lacked, even as a kit, he never seemed to be able to tell when others were joking or being serious. Mostly chalked up to the tom's serious attitude, though mostly was linked to how he never really interacted with others, so he never developed the skills to tell when other cats were cracking jokes or not. Flicking his tail, the tom shifted his gaze away from the herbalist. He gave a flick of his ear to acknowledge the other tom's words.
"I don't need to see her," he said, looking back to him. "I have more important things to do, than congratulate her on having kits," he said, sides other cats had also had kits, and he never done it for them. He already wasted time coming here, he wasn't going to waste more tying to track the she cat done. Rolling his eyes at Amberleaf's theatrics. Seeing the other heading out, he choose to follow out of the infirmary, planning to track others down for a patrol to head out on. "If you are heading out you should take someone with you, king's orders. He wants to avoid the commoner attacks as much as possible."

A pity, but one that hardly bothered the White and Ginger tom. After all, it was just easier to avoid any kind of emotional attachment to someone if they were already theoretically incapable of it anyway -- although that was, perhaps, an unfair assessment. Sagespirit had his reasons for being how he was, and the herbalist was certainly not going to mock him for those reasons or imply that cat was incapable of doing better for himself.
"What worth you see in doing something or not doing something is the value you put into such actions yourself... So, it's none of my business, do what you like or don't." he explained, rolling his shoulders in a half-hearted shrug as if to further imply his own indifference on the matter. Jokes aside, it simply wasn't his place to impose the social conformities of others onto the warrior -- nor did he see a need to. However, as he stepped into the hall and hear the warrior's warning, the Herbalist snorted with a level of indignantly, "Unless you're offering or someone is free on the way out, I'll not be taking that advice. It is a terrible waste of time to go tracking someone down for such unimportant things." However, by the latter half of his words there was a playfully ironic lilt to his words, almost as if poking another bit of harmless fun at Sagespirit's previous unwillingness to go through the effort of finding his sister.
"Regardless, I'll not waste anyone's time with my fits of fancy. If I end up dead, there are plenty to replace me." There was an eeriness to the direct nature of his words, but one he didn't seem eager to elaborate on. |

Mapleheart would probably be a good place to start. maybe a little timeskip so it's recent when Blizzard saw Maple]
Mothwind yawned and stretched. After they'd told Blizzardstar the news, she and Duskstorm had settled for a nap. The king had looked alright, despite rumors of his health. But that was only appearances. They'd need to know for sure before making any moves. And to do that, they needed an inside source. Slipping into the infirmary, she immediately spotted the she-cat she wanted to see. "Mapleheart," calling greeting, she trotted over. The herbalist nodded a greeting. "We were hoping to speak with you about the king." Glancing over to Duskstorm, she gave him a moment. It would sound much more convincing if concern was voiced from the king's son.

"I would like an update just to put my worry at ease." Duskstorm said. As the prince, he assumed that Mappleheart wouldn't question it.
Mapleheart considers this for a moment before deciding to indulge. There weren't many cats around them so overhear. "The king is." She pauses to choose her words before deciding to just come out and say it. "He's doing better but I fear him going on all these patrols will put a strain on his body and possibly his heart. Rest assured, we are still doing everything we can but I'm not one to force the king to take his medicine."

"Just take it easy." Cloverstripes calls out to both of them. "I will catch you so don't worry about falling." She called out to them.
Robinkit gives a small nod before she slowly starts working her way down. She briefly considered just letting her mother catch her.

Pinekit looked at Robinkit as she made her way down the rock, he really wanted to see if she would just jump or not. He then slowly started to go down the rock himself. Once close enough to his sister he asked, "So, you see why climbing is so much fun now?"

Mothwind shook her head. "A king should heed the words of his healers. Blizzardstar is being unreasonable." With a flick of her tail, she added in a softer voice. "And it's not the only thing he's being unreasonable about. If he continues to refuse to rely on his chosen heir, cats are going to begin wondering if there's anything wrong with Moonfrost." Pausing, her eyes rounded slightly. "Is there?"

"I mean I see it but I kind of prefer the ground." Robinkit admitted feeling a little embarrassed. Maybe, if she practiced more she could get used to it. Once she was a little closer to the ground, Robinkit allows herself to fall to the ground.
Mapleheart flicks her tail feeling a little uneasy. "Moonfrost is unique to say the least." She said making sure to chose her words carefully. Last thing she wanted was for word to get back to the king and queen. She tried to remain neutral in all this and serve whoever the starry ancestors approved of. "I will say when he was presented as the destined heir I was a little surprised."

Pinekit chuckled as he said, “The ground is boring, but you sisters of mine aren’t the most exciting.” He was joking as he said this, he just wanted to play with her. As he got lower on the rock he also jumped off, but missed the landings and landed on his rear.

Pinekit growled a tiny bit as he looked over at Sparrowkit who had turned away. He just knew that she was snickering at his stumble. His attention turned up to his mother and stood up, shaking himself out as he did so, and said, “Yeah I am okay momma, you know I have fallen from much higher places. Don’t need to worry, what is the worse that could happen.” It then hit him that one’s of those falls did lead to his bad eye and knew that she would more thank likely remind him about that.

sorry for the delay. got tangled up in irl things + having to decide how i'm going to have Mothwind progress the plot xD it's easy to say she's going to try to recruit cats, but actually wording it is another story. lol]
"You can speak easily with us, Mapleheart." Mothwind assured the healer. "Now that Duskstorm and I are going to be parents ourselves, we've been looking more towards the future. Moonfrost didn't seem terribly eager to take up the title of destined heir, did he?"

Pinekit groaned as he saw his mothers ear flick and talked about scaring her and his father when he hurt his eye. With a sigh he said, “Mama that was a long time ago, I am better than I was back then so don’t worry.” Quickly he walked over to her and nuzzled her front leg to show he was fine and comfort her. As he nuzzled her side he chuckled while saying, “Besides with you and my sister always around I don’t get the chance to climb all the dangerous stuff that I want to.”

Cloverstripes looks down at Pinekit as he rubs against her leg. She didn't really know what she was going to do with him. She feared that he might seriously hurt himself trying to climb something. "Either way, we might not always be there. You will one day be given a mentor and they will be in charge of your training."

Pinekit moved away from Cloverstripe as she spoke about him one day getting a mentor. He thought he understand what she was saying. His tail curled as he asked, “So should I stop climbing all the big stuff until I after my mentor?”

Mothwind inclined her head in acknowledgement. "That is true. But the destined heir might not have time. At the rate the king is going, he may collapse at any given moment. And then where will that leave us?" She flicked her tail. "And what if Moonfrost never does take to the position? Then every cat will be miserable." With a sigh, she shook her head. "Well, in any case, try to remind the king that there is more to strength than the physical aspect. Not, of course, that I would ask you to risk his ire. The queen might be more approachable, do you think?" Tilting her head, she wondered if they might find more information to help their cause.

"I'd prefer if you did but I doubt that will stop you." Cloverstripes answered. She knew Pinekit had a mind of his own and would just find something else to climb.
"The queen is a lot easier to talk too." Mapleheart said. Most of the time she and the others found themselves talking more with the queen than the king. "We mainly tell her about the herbs and how much to give the king." She preferred to watch over the king unless something takes a turn.

With a squint Pinekit asked, “Is that a challenge mom? Cause if it is then I bet I could hold off on climbing the big things until then!” While Cloverstripe more than not mean to challenge the kit the deed was done. Honestly this could only benefit given how insistent he was about not backing down from a challenge.

Mothwind sighed. "And doubtless the queen has already tried to tell the king how important his health is." Pausing, she picked her next words carefully. "Do you think she would be agreeable to increasing Moonfrost's training? It needn't be anything drastic, of course. Perhaps the king might oversee it." She left off the added fact that they'd have to convince the king to do so in the first place, but she was actually banking the opposite. "That way he could be resting while observing, but still preparing the destined heir. Duskstorm and I," she nodded to her mate, "we can't the only ones worried about the future." Caging the king to less risky business than patrolling with outsiders would also ease the herbalist's burden as well.
Really, Mothwind didn't want to toss Moonfrost to the side like he were crow-food. If anything, she was sympathetic to the young tom. There was a lot of pressure on his shoulders. But, she would not place her faith in his ethic until he showed he deserved it. And while they were waiting on that, she would put backup plans into motion. No offense to the destined heir.

Mapleheart considers Mothwind's words before speaking again. "I think if brought up, she would agree to it. Would be nice to keep the king in one spot though, I'm not sure if the king would agree." She pauses wondering if perhaps she spoke out of turn. "Not to be rude of course! He is just known to be stubborn and irritable."
Dusktorm lets out a soft chuckle then shakes his head. "You are fine Mapleheart. My father is quite stubborn though helping to train Moonfrost could keep him busy."
Cloverstripes resists the urge to smirk. "In that case, I will accept your bet."

(Truth be told I may end up remaking this clan. This was a ambitious clan and for things to move forward we need lots of cats to make things interesting. I take responsibility for not really planning things out properly and keeping people interested.)
