INTRODUCTION
You stumble as you travel towards the forest, finally free from the harsh winds and cold stone of the mountains. You release a ragged breath as you urge your aching body forward, ignoring the harsh sting of your paw pads with each step. You feel relief as you soon find yourself walking on soft grass, the scent of pine and moss clinging to your nose with each breath you take. As you continue to walk amongst the pines, you find it more and more difficult to navigate. The tall cedars reach high above you now, blocking much of the sun, leaving only a damp coolness.
You press on, hunger and thirst clawing at your stomach, a reminder of what you survived. Your ears perk as you hear a sound, a soft, constant noise...water! Following the sound, you soon find yourself in front of a stream, eagerly, you drink.
After having your fill, you pull your head up, looking down into the water. As you glance at yourself, you see a large tom behind you, staring back at your reflection. You pull away, turning quickly; only now do you see several other intimating cats surrounding you, some smaller, lithe cats staring at you from the rear.
"You survived the mountains...alone?" The first tom asked, unbothered by your defensive pose. He glanced to the others before looking back at you, a glint of respect in his eyes, "we will have you come with us. We have much to ask you." He mewed, turning away as the other cats stared at you in awe before following close behind. You felt stares burning into your pelt, you could sense that the respect would be fleeting... However, you clearly gathered their interest, if you prove yourself, maybe you will find yourself among their ranks? However, you couldn't help but fear the outcome if you were to fail. ABOUT
ShardClan was once one half of a two-Clan RP consisting of itself and their close neighbors, WispClan. ShardClan is known for their militaristic lifestyle. Nestled between a raging river and wild mountain, due to the harsh nature of their territory, ShardClan values skill and loyalty above all else. Their origins caused them to adapt in order to survive- leading to have strayed from the traditional Clans seen in the canon novels. However, their past also left them wary of others- even those who may need them the most. What will they do when new unknown dangers threaten their way of life? WispClan had been wiped out by a disastrous hurricane, with only few surviving they turned to their neighbor; ShardClan. With ShardClan suffering their own losses, they accepted them. The clan will have to once again adapt and overcome, or risk losing everything once again. The question is, will it be enough? Find out as you embark on this adventure...
Welcome to ShardClan. RULES
1) Follow the rules. Each rule is color coded to identify what the severity of the consequences will be if you break them.
Purple tier = Minor offense. No warnings will be given and you will not be under threat of suspension or termination.
Orange tier = Moderate offense. Your first and second violations will result in a written warning per offense. A further third violation will result in a suspension of one week. A fourth violation will result in prohibition of further participation within the roleplays.
(Note: For every 6 months that passes since your most recent violation, your earliest offense will be discounted. Think of it as an "extra life".)
Red tier = Major offense. A sole violation will result in automatic deletion and prohibition from further participation in the roleplays. There will be no option to appeal.
2) Listen to the mods. Mods will be assigned to monitor the Clan pages to ensure this remains a safe and inclusive environment. If you are not a mod, your level of authority will be more limited but will are still able to contribute. If you see anyone breaking rules highlighted within the orange or red tier, don't engage with them. Report any inappropriate behavior immediately by tagging Dawnmist. If someone has already reported the incident, don't submit your own report, and instead simply upvote their post.
3) Respect. Treat everyone here how you want to be treated. Please be respectful and considerate of other people - remember that they are living people on the opposite end of the screen. Any homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, xenophobia, sexism, racism, etc. will be dealt with immediately.
If you have a personal problem with someone, please take it to a DM.
(Note: If you post a word that is a slur and you were unaware for it to be considered as such, you will not be punished if you apologize, edit the message in question to remove the problematic word, and agree to never use it here again.)
4) LGBTQ+. LGBTQ+ characters have full acceptance here. If you have a problem with this, then these roleplays aren't for you. This extends into roleplay - anti-LGBTQ roleplay characters are prohibited.
5) Follow the forum rules. This is a PG-13 roleplay. Let's try to keep it at that. Forced mating, pregnant apprentices, moderate or heavy references toward sexual innuendo, elaborate descriptions of birthing, torture, excessive violence and gore, and detailed scenarios of kits dying are all strictly prohibited, along with many other tasteless examples that I did not include here.
6) Invite only & joining. As you may have noticed, this RP is invite only. This acts as a soft filter system for people joining who would only post one-liners or who would leave shortly after joining, so forth. This is not an attempt at gatekeeping; we simply want people to join who we think would add to the experience, not subtract from it.
In short: Not everyone can join, but anyone can.
If you wish to join the roleplay, explore the Joining Page for further details! (Link is provided in the Directory bubble below.)
7) Age. The minimum required age to roleplay here is 18. If you join and you are later revealed to currently be or were a minor at the time of your joining, your presence here will be terminated with no option to appeal.
8) Activity. It is encouraged that you make at least one post a week for most characters that you roleplay. We all have lives outside the forums or life can get in the way, we perfectly understand! Communication is encouraged and going AWOL will result in actions being taken. Read below for details.
If you don't respond within 8 days, a DM may be forwarded to you. You won't be in trouble, don't worry! We will be checking on you to see how you are doing, followed by a possible inquiry on your absence.
If you don't respond within 2 weeks, then a further DM message will be sent to you, giving you a friendly reminder that your characters are gathering dust and should probably see some activity relatively shortly. Some of your characters may be temporarily roleplayed by someone else if you do not respond, particularly if their current involvement requires ongoing activity, such as if they're involved in a current plot. Rest assured, strict stipulations will be put in place and they will return to you in the form you left them in. No deaths, no disease, no injuries, no fuss, no muss. If they're not as important to the plot at the time, they will only be mentioned by name and nothing more while you are away.
If you don't respond within a month, then your characters will be killed off. You'll also be placed in the Inactive Members list on the Joining Page thread until your return.
If you don't respond within two months, then your name will be stripped from the Active / Inactive Members sections entirely. If you wish to join again in the future, you'll have to revisit rule #6 within the bubble ("Invite only & joining").
If you wish to take a break that is beyond a week's length, notifying us would be greatly appreciated. If you feel like you won't be back for an extended period, the option will be presented to you for your character(s) to be temporarily used by others until your return, to be permanently adopted by someone else within the roleplay, or to be killed off.
TL;DR: Please post once per week as a bare minimum. If you need time off, please notify us. Going radio silent for a long period may result in your characters getting killed off in order to keep the roleplays flowing.
9) Literacy. You must be literate. Good grammar, proper punctuation, and spelling are all expected. This means full sentences that are coherent and easy to understand.
10) Post length. It is expected for each user to achieve a minimum of 6-8 full lines per post when roleplaying. In order to allow for everyone to enjoy this roleplay, it is requested that you include in-depth details of your character's actions, environment, thoughts and feelings. Please include a sentence of dialogue, internal or external, whenever possible. Posts that simply state actions without any other context can cause your fellow RPers to have a difficult time with responses.
11) No spamming. Any trolling, flaming or spamming will be deleted. If you see someone engaging in these problematic actions, report the issue immediately. If a user has already reported it, instead of making your own submission, we request that you upvote theirs instead.
12) Casual chatter. Casual chat in the roleplay threads are certainly allowed, unless they turn into a full-blown conversation that spans entire pages. Let's try to not allow it to get to that point.
13) Godmodding. Unless you go about it excessively or handle it immaturely, Godmodding won't be considered a serious offense. Do it once, you'll be asked to reverse your decision. Repeat the offense, and necessary actions will be taken.
If you don't know what Godmodding is, here are a couple of examples.
1) Mary/Gary Sue characters are not permitted. Give your characters depth, flaws, personal obstacles they have to overcome - don't make them excel at everything. Your character also will not succeed or win at every hunt or battle encounter. Your character is not invincible nor perfect.
2) Your character should not be omnipotent and all-seeing. If a conversation is intended to only be heard by its participants (i.e. they were whispering), don't have your character listen in and capture the entire conversation. Similarly, what goes on in the character's rival Clan stays within the borders of said Clan.
14) Big brother. It is typically considered rude to pry into the private lives of others. Unwanted discussions of relationships, romantic interests, motherhood/fatherhood, kit rearing/weaning and retirement are considered faux pas. Cats that engage in rumors and gossip or attempt to force their opinions onto others in an attempt to control them are looked down upon.
To avoid setting off triggers that some users may have, don't have a character creepily pry or be judgmental in regards to the subject matters listed below.
Ex. 1: Relationships - A cat can ask another cat if they are romantically interested in another cat (either in general or towards a specific individual). They cannot pursue the conversation further if the other party doesn't wish to discuss it. Teasing, harassment, and rumor spreading are not allowed.
Ex. 2: Parenthood - A cat can ask another cat if they ever considered or are considering settling down with kits. They cannot pursue the conversation further if the other party doesn't wish to discuss it. Teasing, harassment, and rumor spreading are not allowed.
Ex. 3: Weaning - Queens can ask another Queen when she is going to wean her offspring, and/or they can offer to take over if they notice the other she-cat isn't happy in the nursery. They cannot pursue the conversation further if the other party doesn't wish to discuss it. Teasing, harassment, and rumor spreading are not allowed.
Ex. 4: Retirement - If a cat is no longer in their prime and is slowing down, cats can hint at that they might want to join the Elders' den. They cannot pursue the conversation further if the other party doesn't wish to discuss it, unless their physical state is concerning, in which case the Healer / Mender or the Clan leaders will step in. Teasing, harassment, and rumor spreading are not allowed.
15) Kit stealing. All attempts at kit stealing will be ignored. This will further result in suspension or deletion. If the offender is a random, a permanent ban will be put in place on them participating in the future.
16) Kit-killing. Keep descriptions of illness, injury, or the death of a kit within PG-13 limits. Never depict a kit's internal fear or pain/discomfort through the first person. Don't go overboard with graphic detail; try to focus on the emotional storytelling. Some examples are provided below.
Illness: If a kit has contracted a life threatening disease or illness, do not roleplay them in the first person describing their fear or pain/discomfort. If they have contracted a minor sickness such as the common cold, you will not be as heavily restricted in regards to describing their discomfort in the first person.
Injury: If a kit is injured, do not overly describe the amount of blood present or their pain/discomfort in the first person. If they receive a minor injury such as a thorn in a paw, you will have more freedom in terms of describing their discomfort, but if they receive a major injury such as a broken jaw, describe their emotional/internal thought process above all else.
Death: You are not allowed to describe a life threatening situation a kit is in in the first person - instead, it must be posted in the third person. Do not describe the kit's levels of pain or discomfort.
Example 1: Predatory. If a predator is going to take a kit, everyone present will roleplay through the motions of the creature invading the camp, the moments of panic afterwards, followed by an adult cat(s) noticing the predator carrying "something in its jaws" before its departure, and afterwards the Clan can notice the kit's absence.
(TL;DR: We do not want another Snowkit incident occurring.)
Example 2: Environmental. You may describe a kit clinging onto a branch or log floating down a river in the third person. You may describe them going under the waters, but you are not allowed to have the drowning process be roleplayed.
17) Mental Health. There are no restrictions in regards to the selection of mental health issues a character can have. To avoid poor representation however, we strongly request that you thoroughly understand the condition in question before creating a character with said mental health issue. Do not romanticize or dramatize the condition in any way, shape, or form. Intricately integrate into their persona; make it meaningful, while also not making it their entire character. Never excuse bad behavior for the character's mental health issues. If you poorly represent a certain condition, you will receive a warning via a DM, and an attempt to educate you on the subject matter will be made.
If you have any questions, DM or tag Dawnmist for further details.
18) Canon lore. For all intents and purposes, the canon books are not a part of this universe. Don't expect to find any of the canon Clans or characters over the next ridge of mountains.
19) The passage of RP time. In order for a day to be completed, at least one mentor must have finished a training session with their student, one hunting and border patrol must have been completed, and most characters must have interacted with at least three of their Clanmates.
CLAN HISTORY
Shardclan was originally a clan that was located in the midland (NW) of the current clan location. Little is known of what had caused the Clan to relocate, but all that was known that many were left behind. Some believe it was an illness or natural disaster, while others claim it was punishment from StarClan. All that is known is that they suffered many, many losses...
Eventually, the few that did travel forward, came upon a group of cats that assisted them as they travelled through the harsh mountains, some forming close bonds with the Clan cats. Much like the original clan, many of the second group decided to stay behind despite the danger that loomed ever closer.
In order to survive, the two groups merged together, eventually settling in their current territory. They struggled with the large amounts of predators competing for the relatively low amount of prey, causing them to decrease their territory size in order to better manage it.
Many, many moons later in an alternate universe, where WispClan and ShardClan are still close neighbors, a disastrous hurricane hits the land. WispClan, and many others, unfortunately didn’t make it through the harsh conditions of the storm. With few surviving, they turned to their neighbor; ShardClan. With their own suffering and loss, ShardClan accepted.
Some cats observe that the story seems incomplete, perhaps there is more to the Clan's origins that has been lost to time...

WispClan & ShardClan borders (above) SHARDCLAN CAMP
Outer Wall-
A thick, wild wall of brambles and bushes that form a large circle around the camp clearing. Several fir trees are placed closed to it, further blocking the scent and view of camp. The wall is reinforced often with branches and brambles, causing it to have a rough, patchwork-like appearance from the moons of work. Some portions of the wall may have flowers from bored fledglings, though they are often hidden. The main entrance is a two fox-length long tunnel of thorns located close to the Frog Stream (Southeast). It is low, causing some of the larger cats to have to drip their heads. There is a second entrance on the northwest side of camp, which goes beneath the wall, however, it is packed with brambles on both sides and only used for emergencies. Defender's Post-
A large gather of bracken plants right beside the entrance outside of camp, not quite suitable for defense against the elements but is adequate in blocking the wind and rain. Defenders do not usually sleep here, but use it as a resting place before or after patrol during rainy weather.
Main Den-
A large, old, cedar log nearest the entrance that has been hollowed out many moons ago. The ends are still solid, while a cat sized hole in the center acts as an entrance. The Heir, Keeper and most Elders sleep here as well as all Hunters and Defenders so it is by far the largest den in camp. Nursery-
An old fox set with ferns surrounding it on the Northwest side of camp. Queens, Kits, Nursery Attendants and Novice Fledglings all sleep here. Fledgling Den-
A gathering of brambles with a hollowed center on the East side of camp. All Fledglings with exception of Healer Fledglings, sleep here. Medicine Den-
A den on the North end of camp made of two large stones leaning against each other with moss hanging down at the entrance. A large, flat stone sits just outside the entrance. Stones have been piled to made shelves and a large crack is used for storage. The Head Healer, Healer and Healer Fledgling all sleep here. Elders' Den-
A den dug out beneath a stump right beside the Medicine den, it is hardly used as many Elders either move to the High Council or stay in the Main Den. It is often used for when their are too many ill or injured cats to fit in the medicine cat den. The Giant Cedar-
A massive cedar in the center of camp with tangled roots that are forming a den. The High Council often meets here, though occasionally some sleep here as well. The roots are many cat lengths high; all announcements are made on top of the tallest root. The Keeper is unable to jump to the root, and must used smaller roots like stairs. TERRITORY
Serpent's Spine-
A rugged stretch of earth that runs along the mountains that tower over ShardClan. There is rarely any shade, and often rain pools towards the forest. The mountain looms over, where birds of prey often roost. Despite the barren appearance, it is full of valuable herbs and prey. Pebbles and flat stones litter the dusty ground, which can often be extremely hot on paw pads. Though the area is patrolled during all times of the day, it is often avoided at sun high during Greenleaf as to avoid burnt paw pads. While some brave cats like to sun in the area, snakes and birds of prey often are lurking about. A dozing cat would make for an easy catch if they were small enough. Dead Drop-
A cliff at the edge of the Pine Forest that over looks the open waters. It is the closest place in ShardClan territory to the salt water. Often cats will go here to think when making any important decisions or to seek guidance from StarClan if they are brazen enough. This is also the final resting place for all members of ShardClan. End's Meet-
A pool at the end of The Watchful Crag, that splits into two. The area is often rich with herbs and small prey like frogs and songbirds. The water is considered too deep for young novices to swim in, but it is not uncommon to see defenders and hunters relaxing in the water while their patrol is on pause. During Leaf-Bare, the surrounding trees gather ice, causing moonlight to twinkle and dance. It is often considered one of the most beautiful locations in the territory. After the snow thaws, it is common for the area to flood, so it is often avoided during Newleaf. The Watchful Crag-
An area that connects the Frog Stream to End's Meet. The water current is deceptively strong, and forest litter such as stick, branches and logs can be hiding beneath the surface. Cat usually don't swim here, though most can with little worries so long as they are aware of the risks. It is a good area to gain an advantage over a stronger enemy. Frog Stream-
A stream that is often teeming with frogs and insects located right outside the camp entrance. Cattails and reeds can make it difficult to access for those unfamiliar with the stream. Lily pads and algae are apparent on the water's surface, however, white stones filter the water further south of the camp entrance, which is where most cats drink or soak moss. The water has an extremely gentle current which picks up the further south it goes. Some portions of the stream are deep enough for small fish, such as minnows. Often Novice Fledglings are taken out to practice swimming under very heavy watch. Fledglings and younger members of the clan often splash around in water during hot weather. The stream never dries out due to the shade from the surrounding trees, but often freezes completely during Leaf-bare. Armored Branch-
The river that separates WispClan and ShardClan and leads to the salty waters. While there are fish, it is not commonly hunted in as WispClan cats are a common sight. Spies often use the river to get across into WispClan territory, using nearby herbs to hide their scent. A cat that is not careful enough can be dragged out to the open waters. It also is ill-advised to play on the ice that forms in Leaf-bare, as there is a high risk of falling into the cold waters below. Camp-
A clearing fortified with brambles and thorns. The entrance is a surprisingly long tunnel of brambles. See ShardClan Camp for more details. Secondary Camp-
A camp rarely used, it is surrounded by thick bushes and brambles. It has three dens, all of which are in usable, yet non-ideal conditions. Due to it's location near End's Meet, it is at high risk of flooding during Newleaf.

– OUTSIDE THE TERRITORIES –
_________________________________________
Mountain's Grief-
The mouth of the river is located in between two stretches of mountain, almost giving the illusion that they are weeping. The land beyond is currently unexplored by either Clan. Abandoned Twoleg Nest & The Half-Bridge-
A long-abandoned fishing hut and dock, left behind seasons ago and is in a severe state of disrepair. The wood on both structures is rotten, leaving them unable to take much weight. Located a healthy distance beyond the territories around a lily pad infested pool, these structures are currently unknown to the Clans. Twoleg Camp-
A small infrequently used Twoleg camping ground surrounded by a ring of mountains beyond Eagle's Crown. This location and its littered remains is currently unknown to the Clans. Forsaken Field-
Located far left of the Clans beyond the chokepoint in between the two clusters of mountains, otherwise known as Neckchoke, the land eventually opens up to reveal a vast meadow. This peaceful place holds a dark secret, one that still haunts the memories of many living cats through the tales of elders. A once great battle was fought here, a flaying mass of fur and flesh drenched in a shallow pool of their own blood, and the only evidence of their presence are claw-scraped trees and gravesites aplenty. Survivors may live on through the Clans; perhaps they are the progenitors of them? WispClan certainly seems to think so, while ShardClan's thoughts are unclear.
Since the great battle, which is often referred to as the Old Massacre, Clan cats have been forbidden from trespassing on these tainted lands, out of both and respect and fear for the anguished spirits that may linger here. Freedom's End-
A supposedly haunted and evil coniferous forest beyond Forsaken Field, swarmed by the ghosts of those who had fallen generations ago during the Old Massacre. It is said the forest is sickly and full of wicked creatures and poisonous plants, tainted by the mass slaughter that unfolded here many seasons ago - before the conflict it is described to have been a most enchanting and enthralling place. Edge(s) of the World-
The endless ocean that stretches beyond Clan territory. ShardClan and WispClan believe the edges of the world in these directions to be marked here. It is a matter of debate for some if the stretch of saline water is indeed endless, or if it falls off the world eventually in the form of immeasurably high waterfalls. CLIMATE
ShardClan has all four seasons. They use Greenleaf, Leaf-Fall, Leaf-Bare and Newleaf. However, occasionally they will use terms like Full-Leaf, Bright-Leaf, Cold-Leaf and Bud-Leaf.
-Full-Leaf- The ShardClan territory is alive with life. Prey and herbs flourish throughout and predators become placid. The forest is cool and mild from dusk to dawn; insects like fireflies, grasshoppers and cicadas are a common sight. During the day, however, it can become quite muggy and hot. Patrols often have extra stops and The Serpent's Spine is often avoided. Cats often enjoy a swim in the Frog Stream and End's Meet.
-Bright-Leaf- Some of the oaks and birch trees take on bright orange and gold colors as the weather grows colder. The humidity is greatly reduced but the weather remains hot enough to continue swimming for a while. Prey is easy to catch as they attempt to fatten up for winter but predators become more desperate as well. It is not uncommon to see an increase of rogues, loners and foxes. Many cats often find this is their favorite season due to the mild weather and pretty appearance.
-Cold-Leaf- The forest become silent and still. Prey and herbs are scarce while predators become more bold. Many tree lose their leaves, but the tress in the inner-most part of the territory stay a deep green. This is often a season where sharing tongues and building bonds become more common. Sometimes young cats slide around the frog stream once it freezes over. This is also when cats will profess their love for another at End's Meet.
-Bud-Leaf- Life returns to the forest. The snow melts and prey starts to return. Often the forest is damp and muddy due to rain and flooding at end's meet is not uncommon. Most kits are born in this season, and it is the most common season for Naming Ceremonies. Healer tend to travel outside of the camp more often this season to gather herbs, wanting to avoid the hot, muggy weather that would be arriving soon after. PREY, PREDATORS, WILDLIFE

Badgers: Uncommon; coordinated effort is required to remove them. They are slow but stubborn and deadly. Do not approach!
Hawks/Eagles: Common; Birds of prey, often seen along the mountains. Deadly to small cats and kits, hunters need to be vigilante. If a nest is spotted, it can be destroyed with a coordinated effort, hunting adults is possible but only recommended if it is lingering too close to camp.
Cougars: Very Rare; Large cats from the mountains, they often have no interest in the Clan. Avoid at all cost. Camp is to be reinforced and second camp it to be prepared if one is spotted. They tend to not linger for long periods. WILDLIFE:
Deer: Uncommon; often appear near the Lonely Pine. They do not seem interested in the Clan, but it is best not to get too close as they could step on a curious cat if startled.

A mild poison) Water Hemlock (Anywhere along the river or streams- Common; Causes writhing, pain, and foaming at the mouth) BATTLE MOVES
With few exception, all cats older than 4 moons in ShardClan have at least a basic knowledge of fighting/battle techniques.
–Techniques–
Techniques known by all cats (including novices and healers) A focus on the most basic moves, specifically on defensive attacks and attacks that will open up the chance to flee.
BACK KICK - Explosive surprise move to catch opponent from behind. Judge opponent's distance from you carefully, then lash out with your back legs, taking all weight on your front paws. DUCK AND TWIST - Simple defensive move. The cat ducks then twists around, rolling over onto their back, and then springs to their paws.
PLAY DEAD - Effective in a tight situation, such as when you are pinned. Stop struggling and go limp. When your opponent relaxes their grip, thinking you are defeated, push yourself up explosively. This will throw off an unwary opponent and put you in attacking position.
FRONT PAW STRIKE/FOREPAW SLASH - Frontal attack. Slice downward with your front paw at the face or body of your opponent. TAIL YANK - Grab your opponent's tail and yank it with such force that your opponent is thrown off balance.
Hunters/Defenders Larger cats and smaller cats use different moves
Hunters- A focus on stealth and defense, often uses trees and environment.
Defenders- A focus on offense, often uses power and numbers to overwhelm opponents. They know all hunter moves as well. Both
KILLING BITE - A death blow to the back of the neck. Quick and silent and sometimes considered dishonorable. Used only as a last resort.THE SKY-CRUSHER - Balance on a thin branch, making no sound. and land squarely on the enemy, claws unsheathed. (Typically used by Hunters more.)TEETH GRIP - Target your opponent's extremities – the legs, tail, scruff or ears – and sink in your teeth and hold. This move is similar to the leap-and-hold except your claws remain free to fight.Smaller Cats LEAP-AND-HOLD - Ideal for a small cat facing a larger opponent. Spring onto opponent's back and grip with unsheathed claws. Now you are beyond the range of the opponent's paws and in position to inflict severe body wounds. A group of apprentices can defeat a large and dangerous warrior in this way. Watch for the drop-and-roll counter move, and try to jump free before you get squashed. THE TRUNK SPRING - Balance on a thin branch; make no sound then slide down the trunk of your tree. Spring off the trunk with your back legs at head height to clear an enemy. (Commonly used by Hunters.)Larger Cats SCRUFF SHAKE - Secure a strong teeth grip in the scruff of your opponent's neck; then shake violently until they are too rattled to fight back. Most effective against rats, who are small enough to throw. A strong throw will stun or kill them.JUMP AND PIN - Complicated move. Leap backwards, and bounce off the wall. With precise accuracy, land on the cat.Defenders Only
BELLY RAKE - A fight-stopper. Slice with unsheathed claws against the soft flesh of the opponent's belly. If you're pinned down, the belly rake quickly puts you back into control.FRONT PAW BLOW - Frontal attack. Bring your front paw down hard on your opponent's head. Claws sheathed.FRONT PAW STRIKE/FOREPAW SLASH - Frontal attack. Slice downward with your front paw at the face or body of your opponent. UPRIGHT LOCK - Final, crushing move on already weakened opponent. Rear up on back legs and bring weight down on opponent. If opponent does the same, wrestle and flip them under you. This makes you vulnerable to the belly rake, so it takes great strength and speed.HALF-TURN BELLY RAKE - Turn onto your side, slip under the opponent's belly, rake it with your claws, then swiftly turn back onto all fours out from under your opponent.
HUNTING TECHNIQUES
HUNTER'S CROUCH - Keep your body low with your tail sticking straight ahead. Hind legs must be ready to leap and front paws must be ready to pounce.
FISHING CATCH - When fishing in a large flowing or stagnant body of water, keep your reflection away from the water to avoid alerting the fishes of your presence. When a fish comes, quickly hook your paw into the water and scoop the fish onto the surface and kill it with a bite. Also works with toads and frogs.
SQUIRREL RACE - When a squirrel runs up a tree to escape, quickly run up the trunk beside the squirrel until you're fast enough to overtake it before it gets to the top of the tree. Chase it down and hopefully catch it.
BIRD LEAP - When a bird is aware that it is being hunted and begins to fly up, leap as high as possible to drag the bird down.
MOUSE STALKER - Keep pawsteps light on the ground and try to slide them so the mouse you're hunting won't feel your pawsteps.

RANKING SYSTEM
Note- Suffixes are not given to kits or apprentices. It is also common for cats to go by their birth name. Example: A kit may be called Snow, they will go by this until they become a hunter/defender/healer they will then earn a suffix, Snowfall. They may still go by Snow. Some cats end up preferring their suffix. Many do simply go by their full name, however.
-Rank Breakdown- Keeper (Leader)-
The leader of ShardClan. These cats are voted into position by the clan (see Heir and High Council section). Unlike in normal Clans, leaders do not truly receive nine lives. Keepers do not make all decisions in the clan, often relying heavily on the Council, however, they do have the power to veto or make choices without discussion if required. The position of Keeper can only be obtained by cats that: Have shown skills in fighting, strategy and hunter; have acted as the guardian (mentor) of one cat successfully, are older than 33 moons and have been voted in as Heir. Many chose to take Star as a suffix but is is not uncommon not to. It is common for them to be called by their prefix, Star, Keeper or My Star/ My Keeper. They do not select an Heir but do have influence in the nominees. Heir (deputy)-
The deputy of ShardClan. These cats are nominated by the Council (some do nominate themselves but it is frowned upon). Usually, two to three cats would be chosen and the clan as a whole (excluding kits) vote by placing stones. If it is a draw, the Keeper makes the final selection. If no cat votes, new nominees are selected. To obtain this position a cat must: Have shown skills in fighting, strategy and hunter; have acted as the guardian (mentor) of one cat successfully and are older than 33 moons. They are sometimes referred to as Lesser Star, My Heir or Heir. Head Healer (Medicine Cat)-
The main Medicine Cat of the Clan, minimum 20 moons but remains Healer until Head Healer retires or dies.* These cats are in charge of all medical duties. They also have a strong connection to StarClan, though normally it is minimal at best. Often these cats will have a great amount of influence and are able to sway the council if needed. The Head Healer is the most skilled healer and is often the cat that taught the secondary Healer. Healers are allowed to have mates and kits, often their young is expected to become Healers as well. Head Healers are normally old enough to have already had kits. Usually Healers are compassionate, level headed and good mediators though there are exceptions. A new Head Healer has the option of adopting the suffix "Sun" but many do not. They are often referred as Sun, My Sun or Head.
Healer/Healer Fledgling (Medicine Cat Apprentice)-
The apprentice of the Healers. They are learning all skills and knowledge to become a full Healers Even if they obtain all skills required, they remain a Fledgling until the Head or Healer dies or retires, though they can receive their full name before then. If either the Head or Healer is with kits, they will take all tasks of the Healer until their senior has returned, no new Fledgling will be taken. Healer Fledglings are not permitted to have mates or kits- doing so results in heavy punishment. Once they have become a Healer or Head Healer, they are able to have kits without judgment. Two Healer Fledglings only occur if an especially talented kit reaches 4 moons before the current Fledgling has moved to the Healer position. Healer fledglings will eventually have their ceremony, they will then be a healer. As a healer they are allowed to have mate and kits, and they work along side the Head Healer. Defenders (warriors)-
Cats older than 12 moons that have earned their full name. They focus on fighting and guarding though they are expected to know how to hunt and basic medicine skills. These cats will train Novice Fledglings on basic fighting and defense skills. They act as Guardians for Defender Fledglings. These cats tend to be large, brave and loyal- though there exceptions. Especially talented Defenders may be given special missions, including escorting and ambassador work. Defender Fledglings (apprentices)-
Cats over 6 moons who are learning to become Defenders. These cats are assigned a Guardian who will teach them. They know basic hunting and medicine skills. They retain their first name (no suffix) until they have reached 12 moons and have proven themselves to their Guardian. Some cats have stayed Fledglings for longer than 6 moons, it is rare for less. Their Guardian often picks their suffix. They are not allowed to have mates or kits. Guardian and Fledgling relationship are banned, and becoming mates after a fledgling has earn their name is greatly frowned upon and often results in shunning. The Guardian often loses their rank. Hunters (warriors)-
Cats older than 12 moons that have earned their full name. They focus on hunting and stealth though they are expected to know basic fighting and medicine skills. These cats will train Novice Fledglings on basic hunting skills. They act as Guardians for Hunter Fledglings. These cats tend to be small, swift and clever- though there exceptions. Especially talented Hunters may be given special missions, including spy and sabotage work. Hunter Fledglings (apprentices)-
Cats over 6 moons who are learning to become Hunter. These cats are assigned a Guardian who will teach them. They know basic fighting and medicine skills. They retain their first name (no suffix) until they have reached 12 moons and have proven themselves to their Guardian. Some cats have stayed Fledglings for longer than 6 moons, it is rare for less. Their Guardian often picks their suffix. They are not allowed to have mates or kits. Guardian and Fledgling relationship are banned, becoming mates after a Fledgling has earn their name is greatly frowned upon and often results in shunning. The Guardian often loses their rank. Queens-
She-cats 15 moons or older; their kits leave the nursery at 4 moons instead of 6 with very few exceptions. It is normal for queens to chose to leave the nursery as soon as their kits are weaned, usually the father or a close family member will take over watching the kits. Full time attending queens are very uncommon; usually attending mates and family members help with all nursery duties. Fledglings (pre-apprenticed apprentices)-
Cats between 4-6 moons who have moved from the nursery. They learn basic fighting, hunting and medical skills. They help around camp and are not permitted to leave. The only have their given name with no suffix. They are often taught skills by their parents or the the cat their parents are mentoring. They are observed by the Keeper, Head Healer, Heir and Council to decide which role they are best suited for. If a Novice Fledgling is skilled all around, they are normally placed wherever there is a lack in numbers and are considered potential Heirs. Elders-
"Retired" cats older than 120 moons. They often attend to camp duties until they are physically unable to. Some are part of the High Council but not all. They are treated with high respect and often are not expected to fully complete tasks. High Council-
A group making up of minimal 2 Hunter or Defender elders, and keeper or Healer elder. There is only 2 positions open for this. *if the healer fledgling is more talented/skilled than the head healer, they may be selected for the Head Healer. HISTORY & BELIEFS
-Tale of Origin-
Not much is known regarding the journey from the old territory to the current one. All that was known is that many were lost and that the current ShardClan consists of at least two separate groups that combined before settling in the current territory. It has been several generations since the Clan was established however, the names of the original cats have remained common knowledge through stories past on by their families. Most tales however consist of simple plots as they are usually true to life.
ShardClan generally does not concern themselves with past events, seeing the need to instead focus on life in the current. While lessons of the past are still taught, the Clan is ever changing, not clinging to their roots or overly concerned about keeping traditions.
The most obvious indication of this is the lack of connection with StarClan. While they still refer to the Clan often and overall, most cat acknowledge their existence, the lack of a Moonstone has caused them to almost completely lose their communication with them. Only a very few amount of cats retain a connection without the use of a Moonstone, and Keepers do not receive nine lives.
It is believed that all cats go the StarClan upon passing and that StarClan watches over and protects the living.
Cats with an unusually powerful connection are seen as odd and disrespectful, as StarClan is viewed as a resting place opposed to a source of guidance. TRADITIONS
Formal Traditions The trials set for Hunter and Defender Fledglings:
Hunters-
The Fledgling must fast for three days, during this time, they are nameless. For two days, they must take over training of the Fledglings and attend all main hunting patrols- of which they will be in charge of. During this period, their Guardian will stay close and observe, though interference is only acceptable if there is danger.
The third day consists of a hunt for a certain item, usually a unique river rock. The Heir or Keeper will hid said item somewhere in the ShardClan territory. The Fledgling and their Guardian will compete to find the item and return it to camp, presenting it to the High Council. They will each be escorted by a Defender and the Keeper or Heir will observe to ensure there is no obvious cheating. This portion of the trial normally takes an entire day. Defenders-
The Fledgling must fast for three days, during this time, they are nameless. For two days, they must take over training of the Fledglings and attend all main border patrols- of which they will be in charge of. During this period, their Guardian will stay close and observe, though interference is only acceptable if there is danger.
On the third day, they must patrol the entire border of the territory and then return to camp. Once there, they will spar with their Guardian in front of the Keeper, Heir and High Council. This portion of the trial normally takes an entire day.
Clan Life and Love Choosing a Mate
Despite seeming strict to outsiders, ShardClan holds personal freedom to high regard. Same sex/gender pairs are common. The only relationships considered taboo are that of cats that previously held a Fledgling-Guardian relation. However, it is very common for Fledglings to later become mates with their Guardian's kin as generally they form close bonds with their Guardian's family. Due to this, usually Fledglings have Guardians unrelated to them with kits or kin around the same age; however, there are often exceptions with Healers and other special cases. Families
Typically, cats are closest with their immediate family and their Guardian's family. Both mothers and fathers play equal roles in rearing kits and usually their Fledglings play an active role, usually watching over and teaching their Guardian's kits. Rearing Kits
Queens often stay with their kits until they are weaned, then they generally return to their regular duties, during which they switch with their mate. It is not unusual for parents to switch nursery duties several times until their kits move to the Fledgling Den. However, occasionally both will take time away from their duties at the same time. It is also common for close relatives or previous Fledglings to take over nursery duty if neither parent is available.
*Queens will remain as a Queen on the main page until kits have reached 6 moons* In the Nursery
Usually, the nursery only consists of the parents of kits and the Nursery Aid. Long term Queens are unusual, but not complete unheard of. Generally, a cat will volunteer to act as an aid for Nursery, usually they are related to a current parent or are the mate of a Queen. Previous or current Fledglings are often seen at the nursery when their Guardian has kits. Kitting Celebration
ShardClan has a generally low kit rate, usually only 1-3 kits per litter. Due to this, any kit born is seen as a blessing. After a successful kitting, the outside of the nursery is decorated by flowers by the Clan. Each member of the clan will pick a flower and place it. Usually the cats closest to the Queen will place the flowers the first day. On the second day, the rest of the Clan is allowed to place theirs. It is frowned upon to place flowerless herbs and poppies due to them being a valuable resource and potentially dangerous to wandering kits. Flowers like peonies, dandelions, buttercups, daisies and heather are the most common. Generally the Healer will check the flowers to ensure nothing harmful was placed by an unaware cat.
*This is similar to giving a new mother balloons or flowers- There is no intended cultural influence* Love Confessions
While many cats in ShardClan's tend to not follow traditions that are deemed as "silly" one has remained for generations. It is a common for cats to confess their love to another at End's Meet during Leaf-Bare. The trees surrounding End's Meet tend to become heavily covered with icicles, giving the area a romantic, serene atmosphere. The belief is that the since the icicles reflect moonlight in a way that resembles stars, StarClan will bless the pair if the feelings are mutual. It is not uncommon for cats to do this in an season, Leaf-Bare is simply more traditional. CEREMONIES
Note- There is no ceremony for Fledglings
Note- There is no ceremony for retirement or a new Keeper.
Retirement: A cat will simply discuss retirement with the keeper and tasks will be slowly reduced over time.
Heir to Keeper: The Heir will simply take over the Keeper position- an Heir must be voted in as soon as possible.
Fledgling Ceremony-
Keeper: (Fledgling), you has reached the age of six moons, and have followed your training as a Fledgling well. Under the observation of the High Council and myself, we have determined the path before you.
(If Hunter): Keeper: Your (virtues like swiftness, cleverness, stealth so on) as proven that you would be able to provide for your clanmates in even the coldest days of Leaf-bare. You shall be left under the guidance of (Hunter Guardian).(If Defender)Keeper: Your (virtues like bravery, strength, honor so on) as proven that you would be able to protect your clanmates from even the fiercest of enemies. You shall be left under the guidance of (Defender Guardian).(If Healer)Keeper: Your (virtues like kindness, wisdom, sensibility so on) as proven that you would be able to alleviate your clanmates from the harshest of aliments. Keeper: StarClan, hear me now. Under the guidance of (Guardian's Name), this fledgling has proving themselves worthy of their name. (Fledgling), you have completed the trials placed before you. Do you swear on StarClan and the honor of your Guardian that you did so justly?
Fledgling: I do.
Keeper: (Fledgling), do you promise to obey the Warrior Code and (provide for or defend) your Clan, even if it costs your life?
Fledgling: I do.
Keeper: Then, I, (full name), Keeper of ShardClan, shall bestow upon you your name. By the powers of StarClan, I name thee (New Name), for your (virtues).
Clan: (Cheers new name three times) Heir Ceremony-
Keeper: Under the guidance of the High Council, (Name of two cats, who set forward and stand before the clan)), have been selected for judgment. If any cat wishes to be selected, speak now before your Clan.
(Any cat with a full name may volunteer, however, this is often considered crude.)
(if a cat speaks)
Keeper: (Name), do you acknowledge that if you are not selected, you must forever remain as a (Hunter/Defender), never to be bestowed the role of Keeper?
(cat can say yes or no; if yes, the Keeper nods and the cat stands before the Clan with the other nominees. All nominees turn their back to the clan and lower their heads, closing their eyes. They are watched closely by the keeper and council)
Keeper: ShardClan, before you are stones, place them before your chosen cat. Vote true and well.
(Cats take turns grabbing a stone and placing it. This will be done via polls with a designated end date. If you feel that several characters would vote differently, you can PM me and not vote in the poll.)
Keeper: The stones have been placed, as of this day, (name) will carry the responsibilities as the ShardClan Heir. (name), do you accept this role placed upon you.
Heir: I do.
Keeper: Then as Keeper of ShardClan, I welcome you. May you guide your Clanmates well.
Clan: (Cheers) Death of a Clanmate-
There is no announcement of a Clanmates death. The clan will gather and share tongues before the keeper and the two cats closest to the the deceased cat will take the body to Dead Drop and sit with it in silence until the morning before dropping the body into the sea. They will return to their regular duties when they arrive at camp. The Heir will take over leadership duties while the Keeper is away.
If the deceased cat is the Heir, a new heir will be selected before the body is moved. If the Heir is closest to the cat, the Council will take over the Clan for the night If the deceased cat is the Keeper, the Heir will take the role of the Keeper and an Heir will be selected. PUNISHMENTS
– CRIMES & ACTS OF DISOBEDIENCE –
_________________________________________
– PUNISHMENTS FOR KITS –
_________________________________________ Disrespecting superiors: Disrespecting an older cat will result in a scolding at a bare minimum. A Queen can deny the kit their next feed if they so wish.
Disrespecting caught-prey: Disrespecting caught-prey will result in a scolding at a bare minimum. The kit will have to sit vigil with the kill for a designated amount of time, though it is usually less than an older cat - it's well-known how restless kits can be. Following this step, the kit must consume the caught-prey, even if they are still not weaned.
Getting into trouble in camp: Getting into trouble around the camp, such as messing with the Healers supplies, disturbing older cats during their sleep, climbing and exploring in areas they shouldn't be, etc. will result in a scolding, at a bare minimum. A Queen can deny the kit their next feed if they so wish.
Sneaking out of the camp: Sneaking out of the camp and getting into mischief will result in a scolding at a bare minimum. A Queen can deny the kit their next feed if they so wish. _________________________________________
– PUNISHMENTS FOR FLEDGELINGS –
_________________________________________ Disrespecting superiors: Disrespecting an older cat, such as their mentor, will result in some of the following punishments, including but not limited to: cleaning the camp, tending to the Elders, helping the Healer in their den, clearing out old bedding and dirt, confinement to camp, an order of silence for the day, not eating for the day, a scolding.
Disrespecting caught-prey: Disrespecting caught-prey will result in some of the following punishments, including but not limited to: sitting vigil with the catch for half a day / night (then eating it afterwards and not eating anything the day afterward), extra hunting, helping the Healer in their den, cleaning the camp or some other part of the territory, a scolding.
Eating before their Clanmates: A Fledgling caught eating before their Clanmates in or out of camp will result in some of the following punishments, including but not limited to: extra hunting for the Clan, not eating until the next day, cleaning the camp, tending to the Elders, clearing out old bedding and dirt, helping the Healer in their den, a scolding.
Sneaking out of camp: Sneaking out of camp unsupervised and without permission will result in some of the following punishments, including but not limited to: extra training for a set period, confinement to camp, helping the Healer in their den, tending to the Elders, clearing out old bedding and dirt, not eating for the day, a scolding, a cat being ordered to supervise them from afar for a period of time.
Forbidden friendships: A Fledgling caught conversing friendly with an enemy cat on or off the border line will result in some of the following punishments, including but not limited to: Confinement to camp / extra training, a cat being ordered to supervise them from afar for a period of time, tending to the Elders, helping the Healer in their den, cleaning the camp, clearing out old bedding and dirt, a scolding, being shunned from their Clanmates temporarily.
Bullying or teasing: Fledglings being caught bullying or teasing their denmates are usually never punished directly, although a scolding may occur.
Disrespecting the spirits: A Fledgling caught verbally disrespecting the spirits may result in them being temporarily banished from the camp until they can make peace with the spirit. If the spirit is angry enough, they may be temporarily exiled from the territory together. An attempt to return before they have completed this task will result in them being turned away and subdued if necessary.
Similar consequences may occur if a Fledgling cannot detect the spirit realm and/or they were unable to find or gain the acceptance from their spirit guide.
Improper training: If a Fledgling uses dirty tactics during training, such as cheating, performing an illegal or dangerous move, fighting with claws unsheathed, so forth, it will result in some of the following punishments, including but not limited to: Confinement to camp, tending to the Elders, helping the Healer in their den, cleaning the camp, clearing out old bedding and dirt, apologizing to their training partner, a scolding, their graduation being held back (provided they are close to 12 phases of age). _________________________________________
– PUNISHMENTS FOR HUNTERS/DEFENDERS –
_________________________________________
Disrespecting superiors / disobeying orders: Disrespecting a senior cat, especially an Elder, and/or disobeying commands will result in some of the following punishments, including but not limited to: A scolding, glorified Fledgling chores, a temporary ban on leading patrols, temporary or permanent exile (depending on the severity of the matter), temporary demotion, losing their mentorship if they are partnered with a Fledgling.
Disrespecting caught-prey: Disrespecting caught-prey will result in some of the following punishments, including but not limited to: sitting vigil with the catch for half a day / night (then eating it and not eating anything the day afterward), extra hunting, glorified Fledgling chores, a scolding.
Eating before their Clanmates: A hunter or defender caught eating in or out of camp before the Elders, Queens, and kits have had their fill will result in some of the following punishments, including but not limited to: Extra hunting, a scolding, not eating the next day.
Sneaking out of camp: A Hunter or Defender caught sneaking out of camp at night without proper permission or without telling the cat currently on lookout will result in some of the following punishments, including but not limited to: A scolding, confinement to camp, a cat being ordered to supervise them from afar for a period of time.
Forbidden friendships: A Hunter or Defendercaught friendly conversing with an enemy cat on or off the border line will result in some of the following punishments, including but not limited to: Confinement to camp, glorified Fledgling chores, a cat being ordered to supervise them from afar for a period of time, a scolding, being shunned from their Clanmates temporarily.
Forbidden romances: A Hunter or Defender caught engaging romantically with an enemy cat will result in some of the following punishments, including but not limited to: Confinement to camp, glorified fledgling chores, a cat being ordered to supervise them from afar for a period of time, temporary or permanent exile, temporary demotion, being shunned from their Clanmates temporarily.
If kits get involved, that complicates matters further.
If the wrong-doer was a tom-cat, they will be forbidden from ever or raising their kits and may only see them in battle; on top of that, if they came from ShardClan, they will most likely never be taught who their father was. If the tom spills this information to them, permanent exile may occur. If their lover was a Banished cat, they may be exiled along with them. The kits would remain in ShardClan and they would never learn the truth of who their parents were.
If the tom remains obedient and remains within the Clan, they will have to live with the permanent breach of trust and the consequences that follow. When they retire, they'll likely be forced into the position of a member of the Elders' Shadow with no political power over the Clan.
If they had a Fledgling, it is likely they will be given to a new mentor. It's unlikely they'll be allowed to mentor another Fledgling after that.
If the wrong-doer was a she-cat and is now pregnant / has given birth, the kits will be allowed to remain in the Clan, but they will never be told who their mother was. If the mother is not exiled, they will be forced to return to Hunter/Defender duties.
The same consequences that apply to toms - potentially losing their Fledgling, the privilege of one day joining the Elder Circle, so forth - also applies to she-cats in this situation.
Neglecting their Novice: If a Hunter/Defender is discovered to be neglecting their student, then said Fledgling will likely be transferred over to another cat to Mentor them instead. The Hunter/Defender ability to mentor any further cats may come into question. A cat may be ordered to supervise them from afar for a period of time to identify a possible cause of this neglect, such as a possible forbidden romance.
A Hunter or Defemder caught improperly training their Fledgling will result in a scolding and their Fledgling likely being transferred to another cat, who will take over their training from there.
Disrespecting the spirits: If a Hunter or Defender is caught verbally disrespecting the spirits, this will result in a temporary banishment from the territory until they can make peace with the spirit. An attempt to return before they have completed this task will result in them being turned away and subdued if necessary.
Attacking a Clanmate: A Hunter or Defender who attacks a Clanmate will result in some of the following punishments, including but not limited to: A scolding, joining extra patrols and hunting missions with said cat (or likewise, forced separation), glorified Fledgling chores, temporary or permanent exile (if they attempted to severely injure or murder their Clanmate).
If the cats settle their difference through a brawl, they may face no consequences except a possible scolding or a private meeting with the High council.
Murder: A Hunter/Defender who murders a Clanmate will be immediately and permanently exiled, and will be driven from away the territory. If they return, they will be killed on sight without mercy.
Treachery: A Hunter or Denfender who betrays their Clan will result in permanent exile - depending on the severity of their crime, not all diplomatic dialogue may entirely closed off forever, but it will be for a very long period of time, and there's no guarantee of their return. _________________________________________

_________________________________________
Healers: If the High Council deems the current Healer unfit for their position, they may be forced into retirement, assuming their Fledgling has been fully trained. If they do not have a Fledgling, then they must mentor one immediately. If they do have a Fledgling but they are not fully trained, then they must retire the moment their Fledgling graduates.
High Council: If the High Council deems one of their own to be unfit for their position, they may be forced into retirement and therefore relinquishing their leadership privileges permanently.

ALLEGIANCES
–SHARDCLAN–_________________________________________
– HIGH COUNCIL –_________________________________________
BATSPOTS | TOM | 141 MOONS | MALE | BISEXUAL USER: Dawnmist PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | Batspots is a smaller built, dark Gray long-haired tom with yellow eyes. He has white spots that are the shape of bats because of his long fur.
PERSONALITY | Batspots has become blind in one eye and is much quieter than he used to be. His old age has gotten to him and he spends most time resting and inspecting the clan.
HISTORY | Batspots was apart of the rogue group that found ShardClan as they relocated.
TATTEREDFUR | TOM | 159 MOONS | CISGENDER DEMIROMANTIC, DEMISEXUAL; PANROMANTIC, PANSEXUAL | USER: Dark Sun
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | Tatteredfur is a tall, gangling tom-cat whose back posture slopes at such a sharp angle, it is easily to mistake his forelegs measuring longer than his hind legs, which also makes him appear even more formidably giant than he really is. He is often seen sitting on his haunches, with his unnatural stance likely a result of back and hip issues present since an old injury. His legs are almost as thin as the shapes of his ribs that are exposed alongside either side of his midsection. His paws meanwhile are very large, three of which are tipped with 6 toes, while his left forepaw has seven.
Tatteredfur's short fur coat is a solid dusty brown, and remains in a perpetual state of being mattered and unkempt along his topside, running from the back of his head, along his shoulders and spine, and continuing to the end of his tail. Lesser features include a very narrow muzzle ending in a large dark brown nose, an extremely thin, pointy ear (his right ear is almost chewed off at the half-way point), an almost sideways over shaped head, and his eyes are an almost icy sky blue. His tail is very long and is missing patches of fur through malting - the same could be said for various patches along his flanks and neck, although plenty of these are from old battle wounds. He has many of these - several large gashes run along his throat and chest, across both shoulders, three large scars slice across his left side, and his muzzle has been shredded on more than one occasion.
PERSONALITY | Cool and collected, nostalgic, perpetually tired, loyal, undying spirit.

STARSTEP | TOM | HE/HIM | 70 MOONS | CISGENDER HETEROSEXUAL | USER: lunapaw
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | A white tom with a black full overcoat, and scars along his shoulder and his haunches. He has a black stripe along his tail, covering the top of it. He has long whiskers and yellow eyes, with a beady black nose. He has haunting yellow eyes and long whiskers with a long plumed tail.
PERSONALITY | Starstep is neutral and unemotional, and known as a passive perfectionist. Though around his other clanmates he is known to be fun-loving and proactive, and protective over those in which he loves and cares for. He has never been one to shy away from those who need help, and even in his old age is willing to lend a helping hand. He fears the unknown, and the aspect of death itself. Though Starstep belives strongly in StarClan, he fears that may not be where he is headed. He is a brave tom who keeps his dignity held about him, and often holds on to things from the past. Though he is known to hold a grudge, he is a kind tom who is loyal to the clan and shows great resilience.

DUSKSTAR | TOM | 54 MOONS | MALE |HETERO
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | Duskstar is a large, long haired, black colored tom with amber eyes. He has several scars covering his body, but his long fur covers them up for the most part, besides his torn ear.
PERSONALITY | Duskstar is a cynical, apprehensive, and solitary tom, which he blames his mother for. He was once a fun, joyful cat, often finding himself joking and making his group mates laugh. After his mother left he realized he must take things more seriously, as they were nearing the moving of the clan. He also realized that no one could be trusted, and he only trusts his clanmates to a certain degree. Duskstar has recently become self aware of his own behavior, and has slowly begun to see how that has affected how his clanmates see him. At least he’s aiming to change, for the better.
HISTORY | Duskstar was born into ShardClan before it was officially ShardClan. His mother had decided to leave the clan before they moved, leaving Duskstar in despair as she left. This despair quickly turned to dedication for his clan, and he vowed his loyalty to them and became the Keeper as the clan relocated.

BLACKBRIAR | SHE-CAT | 41 MOONS | CISGENDER HETERO | USER: Jademist
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | A black and pale ginger tortoiseshell she-cat with half long fur. She has a white chin running down to her chest, a white belly and a white tailtip. One of her ears has a few nicks along the edge and she has a scar running over her right shoulder. Her eyes are a fiery amber color.
PERSONALITY | Blackbriar is a clancat through and through, maybe not by blood, but definitely by heart. She is passionate, hard-working and exudes confidence in her skill. Living in a clan has proven to be of much advantage to a cat like herself, who thrives in the middle of a group and who takes quickly to the structure of clan rules. She'll gladly rise up to any challenge, standing alongside her clanmates in times of need. Ofcourse, clanlife isn't all butterflies and fresh prey to her. She often struggles with the clan's views towards rogues and outsiders and navigating such a diverse group isn't easy. When other cats doubt her she doubles down on her confidence; she's prone to overcompensate, which makes her come across boastful, even though she doesn't mean to look down on others. This doesn't always make her likeable and her drive to work together makes that she sometimes struggles to give other cats the space and time they need to process things.
HISTORY | Blackbriar had a different name at first, as she was part of the rogue group that mixed with Shardclan as they relocated to their new territory. Before their group met the clancats they had been struggling. After a sickness thinned out the group it was hard to protect themselves from the ruthless predators on the territory, who could smell their weakness. It was a group of badgers that finally took advantage of their vulnerable state, viciously attacking their camp. A lot of cats were lost and Blackbriar feels like she has to keep fighting for survival so everything wasn't lost for nothing. Joining forces with the clancats was their best chance to live on and honor those who passed.
MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION | The scent of badgers still gives her shudders down her spine.

Her brother was the talkative one, and that made no time for her anyways. Regardless, her quietness has made her hate conflict and yet she is decisive.
HISTORY | Rainstalk was amongst the old clan, and was one of the cats to travel and relocate.

MARIGOLDSONG | SHE-CAT | 35 MOONS CISGENDER | KIN: APPLEHEART (BROTHER), SNOWBLOOM (SISTER) | USER: DAWNMIST
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | Marigoldsong is a mostly white, tortoiseshell she-cat with pale green eyes. She has short sleek fur and a medium build.
PERSONALITY | Marigoldsong is loyal, fun-loving, and introverted. She also has a very sweet demeanor, but every ShardClan cat is a bit tainted. She often eats her prey alone and occasionally with the few cats who she would call her friends.
HISTORY | Marigoldsong is a ShardClan born cat along side Appleheart and Snowbloom. FEATHERTAIL | SHE-CAT | 22 MOONS | FEMALE HETERO | USER: lunapaw
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | Feathertail is a sleek-furred grayish-blueish colored female. She has white stripes along her back, and a large white spot around her eye. Feathertail has a large, dark grey tail and dark grey paws. Her chest has messy white fur. Her ears are pointed, and she has a very poised posture. She looks very young, and she doesn't show much emotion, but it's clear in her expression she's a loyal clan cat.
PERSONALITY | Feathertail is an agile she-cat, and she's quick on her paws. She doesn't like to strike up conversation, but rather remain hidden in the shadows. Feathertail is usually gentle, but she can get defensive. When it comes to battle, Feathertail is a fierce warrior that cares nothing more but to protect the clan. Feathertail enjoys climbing trees, specifically birch trees. She enjoys swimming, because it gives her an advantage compared to other cats. She likes being alone, but she's very cooperative. Feather tail enjoys the nighttime rather than the sunlight. She doesn't sleep much, because she has a strong feeling at night that compels her to stay awake, as if she's always worried someone will attack. Feathertail feels guilty when she eats, because she feels like she's taking from the clan and the kits who need food. She feels the need to hunt so she can give to the clan.
HISTORY | Feathertail doesn't talk much about her past, but it's told that she was once a rouge. As independent as she is, Feathertail would travel, not knowing where she was going. She had a friend that had told her about the clan life, but she didn't believe it could be true. Her mother was a clan cat, but she never knew her, nor did she many other cats. Feathertail was attacked by a clan patrol, and that's when she first discovered clans.
Likes : Climbing, Swimming, Being Alone, Going On Patrol, Moonlight, Hunting.
Dislikes : Daylight, Sleeping, Eating. HONEYFEATHER | SHE-CAT | 23 MOONS | CISGENDER PANSEXUAL | KIN: DRIFTSHADOW (FATHER), DAPPLEFUR AND FERNLEAF (SIBLINGS) USER: Honeyfeather
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | Honeyfeather has long, soft golden fur, with subtle tabby stripes and bright amber eyes. She is the fluffiest sibling and has to be careful to keep her paws clean or the fur gets matted between her paw pads.
PERSONALITY | Honeyfeather is a lighthearted and playful cat despite her age. She loves getting up to minor mischief and is always happy to play along with kit and apprentice antics. She can be very affectionate with cats she is close to. She is extremely forgiving and gentle and doesn't like to scold other cats. She can be very talkative when she's bored and some cats find her annoying. She is not the brightest of her siblings and was usually inferior to them while they were training as apprentices but it never bothered her.
HISTORY | Honeyfeather tried not to pick sides when her littermates got in their big fight as apprentices, but because she looked up to their father, she ended up drifting away from Sparrowfoot and now they aren't as close as they were when they were young. She didn't think they ever should have gotten to the point where they drew blood but it was too late for such sentiments.
MISCELLANEOUS | Positive traits - kind, soft, playful Negative traits - annoying, not very smart Very close with her father Driftshadow and somewhat close to her sister Dapplefur
DAPPLEFUR | SHE-CAT | 23 MOONS | CISGENDER HETERO | KIN: DRIFTSHADOW (FATHER), HONEYFEATHER AND FERNLEAF (SIBLINGS) USER: Honeyfeather
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | Dapplefur is a tortoiseshell cat that's primarily black, with areas of reddish-orange and tabby markings. She has piercing green eyes. Driftshadow says she looks the most like their mother.
PERSONALITY | Dapplefur is friendly, but as far as she's concerned no topic is off-limits. She loves to gossip and know who has a crush on who. She is a very determined cat, and her persistence makes her a good hunter. She can sometimes seem off-putting to cats she is less familiar with because she is initially distrustful. She resents the treatment Driftshadow received when they were younger and expects most clan cats to look down on him, something she finds unforgivable. She is the type to intervene when she doesn't agree with other cats but tries not to after getting into trouble as an apprentice.
HISTORY | Dapplefur exploded on Sparrowfoot when they were apprentices and she heard him say something bad about their father. She unsheathed her claws and roughed him up a bit and was punished appropriately. Afterwards, she refused to speak with or apologize to him. However, in the aftermath of that incident many cats blamed her father's origins for her behavior and she decided that she would be the image of a perfect clan cat from then on for him.
MISCELLANEOUS | Positive traits - smart, determined, persistent Negative traits - likes to gossip, picks fights with cats she doesn't agree with Somewhat close with her father Driftshadow and somewhat close to her sister Honeyfeather FERNLEAF | TOM | 23 MOONS | CISGENDER HE/HIM OR THEY/THEM | PANSEXUAL KIN: DRIFTSHADOW (FATHER), HONEYFEATHER AND DAPPLEFUR (SIBLINGS) | USER: Honeyfeather
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | Fernleaf is a dark gray tabby tom with soft green eyes. He has the shortest fur of his siblings and the most obvious striping with thick black mackerel tabby stripes covering him completely.
PERSONALITY | Fernleaf is a very honest cat that likes to work hard for the clan and is always ready to go on a patrol or go hunting. He is the friendliest of the siblings towards other clan members but is harsh toward outsiders. He would like to leave his origins behind him and although he doesn't hate Driftshadow, he wishes he stayed a rogue.
HISTORY | Fernleaf had a falling out with his sisters while they were all apprentices and tends to just avoid them now to avoid arguing. He doesn't feel like there's anything left to say between them because he is embarrassed by their origins and they aren't. He has a few small scars from the fight and thinks very badly of Dapplefur.
MISCELLANEOUS | Positive traits - motivated, friendly, helpful Negative traits - looks down on outsiders, dislikes his own family Will only tolerate his sister Honeyfeather
PALEFACE | SHE-CAT | 27 MOONS | AGENDER THEY/THEM, SHE/HER | GREYSEXUAL; LESBIAN USER: Dark Sun
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | Paleface is a relatively small, lightly built she-cat. They are a dusky brown molly with a dark brown tip at the end of their tail, and a distinctive white-plastered face stretching from end to end, muzzle to forehead. Her fur is short and prickly like that of a hedgehog, resulting in even herself being constantly itchy. Her eyes are a pale pastel yellow.
Many cats underestimate this one for their less than impressive stature. She is built tough though, possessing strong shoulder muscles and a body that "is as hard and deeply rooted as a boulder". Their muscular body allows her back to carry many times more weight than even the average cat twice her size.
PERSONALITY | Paleface has a no-nonsense, remorseless attitude. They minmax to the highest degree and expects the same level of efficiency and dedication from their piers. Despite having no interest in governing leadership, she has a formidable reputation and an attitude to match. She despises small talk and other forms of "useless" chatter; in fact she hates other cats talking under most situations period, including when on patrol and during hunting sessions, and will make it very clear that if they don't shut up, they'll be walking to their nests with more than a few scratches. This she-cat appreciates conformity and getting the job done. Their loyalty to their Clan is among the strongest in their Clan.
Outside of duty, Paleface does not have much of a personality, which may be intentional in design by her. She very rarely converses with others outside of reports and other matters of business; during these conversations she is shown to be constantly irritable, and can frequently be heard shouting profusely and giving out demands. The concept of forming friendships and other social relations, even maintaining in touch with family, do not interest them whatsoever. She makes it no secret that she is perpetually irritated by just about everyone. Young and inexperienced cats annoy them most of all, especially Fledglings and kits, whom they throws a constantly evolving barrage of insults towards, with scorns ranging from words such as "termites" to "fleas" and "useless comrades that refuse to grow up fast enough."
HISTORY | TBD
MISCELLANEOUS | They never sleep in a nest, preferring the cold hard earth. This is due to her overreaching belief that any form of comfort is a sign of weakness. | They are a very picky eater, and seemingly isn't particularly fond of anything; she had even resisted her mother's milk as a kit. | They have no belief in StarClan at all, and looks down upon those who do. THRUSHLEAP | TOM | HE/HIM | 46 MOONS | CISGENDER | HETEROSEXUAL | KIN: Hiddenleaf (mother), Brindlepelt (father), Sagedream (mate), Cloudedkit & Ferretkit (kits). | USER: lunapaw
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | A dark brown tom with heterochromia which plagues his eyes, and long fluffy fur. He has a darker brindle pattern with a white underbelly and ear tufts. He is thick-furred, giving him a larger appearance overall. The soles of his feet are a deeper brown to match his brindle pattern, with pink paw pads. His right eye is a beautiful emerald green, while his left reflects a deep amber color. Thrushleap’s coat is littered with caramel brown splotches, along with stripes along his sides.
PERSONALITY | On the surface, Thrushleap is presented as a dark and brooding tom. However, with clanmates he feels he has a close relationship with, he is able to open up and reveal a rather charming and exuberant personality. His favorite activity is patrolling the Clan’s borders, as he feels important when doing so. He prides himself on being a skilled hunter, along with one of the Clan’s best warriors. Thrushleap spends most of his time attending patrols. He met Sagedream who soon became his mate in due time. Thrushleap fell for her cleverness, and he always stood by her side when it came to maintaining her dignity.
HISTORY | Thrushleap was born into the Clan as a product of the perfect couple. His mother Hiddenleaf was a graceful she-cat who had nothing but love for her mate, Brindlepelt. Thrushleap had never felt the serenity he once felt when living with them, though he had hoped he would gain this feeling from a family of his own someday. When Thrushleap was merely an apprentice, his parents lives would be lost in a raging storm that had made its way to the Clan grounds, when their leader, Silverstar was nowhere to be found. For most of his life, Thrushleap held him accountable for the death of his parents, though he held his tongue for long moons. He rescued the life of a she-cat by the name of Sagedream, who became his life long love.

RIVER | TOM | 7 MOONS | CISGENDER | HETERO KIN : Aspenheart (deceased adoptive father), Splashclaw (adoptive mother), Shade, Sootwhisker, and Sparroweye (adoptive siblings), Ashfire (father), Pebblestream (mother), Silver (sister)
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | A gray tom with medium to long fur and deep, stormy blue eyes. A darker gray streak runs over his spine, going from his head to his tail. Even though he greatly resembles his father in pelt colors, his built isn't as bulky as him. River has a long tail and tall legs, making him quick on his feet.
PERSONALITY | River comes across as though he is rather hot-headed and impulsive but that is mostly because he has trouble expressing his emotions in a suitable manner. He's quick to take other cat's comments personally and he's actually quite sensitive on the inside. As a defense from getting hurt he either closes off or lets out the bottled up frustration in an unfriendly way. Usually, the best thing to do for him is to take some time alone, reflecting on his thoughts. River deeply cherishes the few close relationships he has and one who has found a friend in him, has made a friend for life. After all, he'd know what abandonment feels like; he wouldn't do that to anyone. Loyal, aloof,
HISTORY | As far as River knows his father always wanted the best for his family, but because his mother wanted it her way they had to compromise on that each parent would take one kit. His father told him it was unfortunate that he could only 'save' him and not Silver and Pebblestream. River had a hard time understanding why his mother wouln't have just came along to Shardclan, even if it was only for him. He is her son after all.. Maybe she just preferred Silver over him? Once he settled into Shardclan with Ashfire a kind queen took to him and with her he gained a more stable side of family. He's become very close to his (step)brother Shade and will get defensive at anyone who points out they are not actually related.
MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION | River is a skilled swimmer and nothing excites him more than the thrill of the hunt. He very much looks up to his father, taking every word of his for truth. Ashfire had hoped for him to become a defender fledgling and drilled him relentlessly the moons prior to get him ready.

PERSONALITY | Mudfur is well-mannered and weak-willed, often giving into his own impulsive behavior. He can also be aggressive, enthusiastic, and ambitious. With all of this, he is extremely loyal to his clan, and had hoped to be named deputy by Duskstar. But the Keeper couldn’t look past his impulsive and carefree behavior, which caused Mudfur to have a desperation to prove him wrong.
HISTORY | Mudfur was a part of the old clan before it relocated, he was amongst the ones who decided to travel and relocate. MORNINGSTREAM | SHE-CAT | 40 MOONS | FEMALE BISEXUAL
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE| Morningstream is a long haired silver colored tabby she-cat with bright blue eyes.
PERSONALITY | Morningstream has a sweet and selfless attitude, often finding herself helping out as much as she can. But she is easily manipulated and submissive.
HISTORY | She is apart of the ShardClan that chose to relocate. APPLEHEART | TOM | 35 MOONS | CISGENDER HETERO | KIN: SNOWBLOOM (SISTER), MARIGOLDSONG (SISTER)
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | A pale orange tabby tom with half-long fur and a small white splash on his chest. His eyes are a light forest green color.
PERSONALITY | Appleheart is eager to prove himself, having lived most of his life in his attention-seeker sister's shadow. He desperately wants others to see his potential and often gets jealous when he is overlooked. However Appleheart has a very caring heart and he is often kind and warm towards others. He likes to create a sense of community, even though it has been much harder since their clan mingled with cats from different backgrounds. But being a mediator is something Appleheart is used to, as he often has to protect Snowbloom from his clanmates' anger and Marigoldsong from being shut out. Caring, diplomatic, jealous
HISTORY | Appleheart was born with Marigoldsong and Snowbloom to their (Shard)clan-born parents. He loves both his sisters, though he always has been closer to Marigoldsong. When cats started making plans of relocating he was determined to take his sisters with him and their clanmates to a better place.
MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION | TBD DRIFTSHADOW | TOM | 54 MOONS | CISGENDER HETERO | KIN: DAPPLEFUR, HONEYFEATHER, FERNLEAF (KITS) | USER: Honeyfeather
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | Driftshadow is a relatively small tom with large ears. He's got relatively long fur, but it lacks the fluff that all his kits inherited. He has a sleek, primarily black pelt with a beige underbelly and uneven markings that stretch up onto his sides and down to his paws. He has pale blue-gray eyes that are always watching his surroundings.
PERSONALITY | Driftshadow is a naturally worried cat that constantly imagines the worst-case scenario for his kits, even now that they're grown. He is quiet and kind, and doesn't argue when cats say things about him being an outsider and not belonging. He has the unique position of being an older cat that doesn't command any respect from younger members of the clan. He avoids telling other cats what to do in most situations, not wanting to start any conflicts. He authentically cares about younger members of the clan and will look out for any of them, even if they aren't his kits. He doesn't think fighting is the answer to much anymore and will simply walk away if someone tries to pick a fight with him. Honeyfeather is the closest with him now, since Dapplefur thinks he's too soft on those that treat him as less and Sparrowfoot wishes they weren't related.
HISTORY | Driftshadow was a rogue a long time ago when he fell in love with a clan cat. He worked very hard to try to be accepted by the clan as her mate, but unfortunately, she died during kitting and he was left to raise his 3 kits as an outsider in the clan. As a rogue, he lived in close proximity with two-legs and their many dangers so he is familiar with traps and digging through trash. He has accumulated many scars over the years and did a lot of fighting just to survive to the next day. He would never mention it, but he doesn't believe in Starclan or the like, but he knows his mate did, so he's glad that all the kits do. He wishes his kits still got along, but he's glad that he gets to be in the clan with them regardless.
MISCELLANEOUS | Positive traits - skilled fighter, docile, caring Negative traits - worries too much, shady origins Very close with his kit Honeyfeather and somewhat close to her sister Dapplefur ASHFIRE | TOM | 50 MOONS | CISGENDER | HETERO FORMER WISPCLAN, FORMER BANISHED KIN: Pebblestream (former mate), River (son), Silver (estranged daughter)
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | A large and muscular built gray tom with medium to long fur and amber to orange eyes that resemble smoldering fires. A darker gray streak runs over his spine, going from his head to his tail.
PERSONALITY | Ashfire has an eerie calmth about him, moving through life very deliberately. Everything this tom does is to serve himself. His emotions carefully considered and applied to the right situations to make it beneficial for his social status. Though, behind his fiery eyes it is hard to see what true emotions reside inside of him. That is if he has any at all. Usually he feels rather indifferent towards others, cold even. Other cats are just pawns in his play, there to be used when he needs them.
HISTORY | Born and raised in Wispclan, Ashfire knew he wanted to jump ship once he noted that Wispclan was getting smaller, weaker in his eyes. This prompted a desire in him to get into Shardclan. His elaborate plan consisted of getting close to Pebblestream and eventually following her when she voluntarily left Wispclan. He put up his most charming act, playing the ever supportive mate. That is until Pebblestream decided she didn't want to go along with his ideas. His demeanor changed completely. He wasn't going to spend his time as some banished lowlife, caring for a mate and kits who were pretty much useless to him. After Pebblestream left him he relentlessly stalked her and in one dark night he took one of her kits away, using him as a tool to finally accomplish his plan.
HISTORY | He has much disdain for Wispclan cats and their beliefs but whether this is his true opinion or just because he sways to the opinions of the Shardclan cats around him is unsure. SKUNKPELT | TOM | HE/HIM | 56 MOONS | CISGENDER | HETEROSEXUAL | MATE: Specklefoot USER: lunapaw
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | A black tom with a white underbelly and mittens, along with a white-tipped tail and dark-grey stripes spread across his coat. He has a white muzzle, and dark eyes with a pink nose. He has a white blaze stripe connected to his muzzle and spreading behind the back of his neck.
PERSONALITY | He is calm, quiet, and collected, as well as often regarded as shy as he often remains hidden within the shadows. Skunkpelt is mysterious, and unusual as he spends his time lurking within the darkness. He is a gracious and rather elegant tom with a dark side like no other, though he shows his other clanmates great respect. Skunkpelt often regards his elders as foolish and useless, as they contribute nothing to the clan. He possesses a rather negative outlook on life, partially due to his rough upbringing. He is rather mischievous, and a very sneaky tom who finds his way into places he often shouldn’t. He finds it difficult to make small take with other clan members, and views it as rather futile as a whole. Skunkpelt views himself as superior, and often fantasizes about one day becoming the leader of a clan of his own. He was often picked on for his small stature, leading him to have a hateful attitude towards other cats. However, he found himself very prideful in his later years, and kept his head held high with great dignity about him.
HISTORY | Abused and abandoned as a young cat, and his parents were rather neglectful and hateful towards him. His mother never fed him, leading him to seek milk from other queens within the clan. His father began to abuse him, clawing at him and taking out his anger upon him whenever he felt fit. Skunkpelt took it upon himself to leave home when he was only 6 moons, and found shelter within a new clan which he made his home. SNOWBLOOM | SHE-CAT | 35 MOONS | CISGENDER HETERO | MATE: MUDFUR | KIN: APPLEHEART (BROTHER), MARIGOLDSONG (SISTER) | USER: Jademist
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | A beautiful white she-cat with half-long fur and a pale ginger tabby tail and ears. She has pale blue eyes.
PERSONALITY | Charismatic and spoilt with an extra dose of sass. Snowbloom is the kind of cat that thinks the world revolves around her. Everyone around her is just there to humor her, she is the main character. Cats that look different won't have to expect any symphathy from her - looks are everything. She prides herself in her beautiful physique and she walks through camp with an air of confidence, judging those around her. Of course there's more to Snowbloom than looks and superficial stuff but those deep feelings and insecurities are buried far away, where no one will ever know. Arrogant, self-centered, prideful
HISTORY | Snowbloom was born after Appleheart and Marigoldsong to their (Shard)clan-born parents, barely clinging onto life. Her parents struggled with their fussy newborn who had much trouble drinking from her mother. Once she became strong and healthy her parents were so relieved that she was going to make it. They put her on a pedestal, always giving her everything she wanted.
MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION | Snowbloom has great hunting skills, which make up for her poor battle moves. She knows the basics, however she'd rather not get her paws dirty. Clan politics bore her to death. When Appleheart decided to be in favor of relocating she followed him, trusting his opinion. SAGEDREAM | SHE-CAT | 38 MOONS | FEMALE HETERO | MATE: Thrushleap KITS: Cloudedkit, Ferretkit. | USER: Lunapaw
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | A lithe light gray she-cat with striped facial markings and a ringed tail. She has light brown haunches, and her slim tail varies from brown, beige, to white stripes. She has a slightly darker grey cape with a white underbelly, and a lean stature.
PERSONALITY | Sagedream is a quite and soft-spoken she-cat with a bubbly personality. Though cold at times, she retains a kind and calm composure. She developed severe attachment issues due to her past, and shares a strong bond with her kits, Cloudedkit and Ferretkit. Sagedream keeps a close eye on her kits, as she is a careful and wary she-cat who trusts no one. She retained great pride, though she remained humble and always listened to the needs of others. She was always readily available, and Sagesdream kept Starclan close and dear to her heart, always keeping those who have fallen in mind and in spirit with her.
HISTORY | Sage was born a kittypet in a two-leg home, and her mother was sold shortly after her birth, leaving her alone and defenseless. Sage grew to the age of an apprentice before leaving her home, when the door was left wide open. Despite her lack of trust towards mostly everyone, she shares a close bond with her mate Thrushleap who saved her from severe injury. CLOUD | TOM | 3 MOONS | MALE | HETERO KIN: Sagedream (mother), Thrushleap (father), Ferret (brother)
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | A tiny light beige tom with black mittens all the way up to his haunches. His face consists of various grey stripes along with his cloudy grey eyes, and black ear tufts to top it off. He has darker ears and a darker muzzle, with a light brown cape. He has a ringed tail which consists of various different shades of grey, along with various shades of light-brown to make up his cape.
PERSONALITY | Cloud has a bright and bouncy personality to match his mother’s, and enjoys exploring the clan grounds on his own terms. He is often teased by playmates for his close relationship to his mother, though this never caused him to have any doubts. Though small in size, he has a big personality along with a bold spirit. Cloud has a bright imagination, giving life as a warrior an exciting experience in which he one day hopes to achieve.
HISTORY | Cloud shared a close relationship with his mother being her only kit for several moons, however when Ferret came into the picture, this changed. However, it changed for the better. The two became very close, and Ferret even became his best friend. The two were inseparable, and were always seen spending time with one another. Cloud didn’t mind sharing the love and comfort of his mother with a sibling, and rather enjoyed having a new playmate. Cloud shows great care for Ferret, and is always very gentle when playing as to not hurt the tom, as he does the same. FERRET | TOM | 3.5 MOONS | MALE | BISEXUAL KIN: Sagedream, Thrushleap (parents), Cloud (brother)
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | A light brown colored tom with a lighter underside and darker mackerel spots littering his pelt. He has lighter-colored dainty paws with a striped tail. He is often remarked as a very handsome tom, having very distinct and strong facial features. He is able to fit into small places as he is very lean, and can make himself quite small in stature.
PERSONALITY | Ferret is often remarked as a menace to society, as he spends his free time gathering any objects he’s able to find, including those that belong to others. He is sneaky and sly, and is often caught lurking around clan grounds. He is extremely agile and flexible, allowing him to fit within extremely small spaces. He often collects shiny objects, as those are his favorite. Ferret is remarkably skilled, and this extends to his expertise hunting. His favorite meals include larger prey such as rabbits and voles, though he doesn’t care for anything that has feathers.
HISTORY | Ferret was abandoned by his mother at birth, and has no memory of her or of his father. Though, he doesn’t wish to have them in his life ever again, and doesn’t care to have any sort of connection with them. He was found by Sagedream, who adopted him into the family with her kit, Cloud, and her mate, Thrushleap, who soon became his new family. He had never felt excluded in any way, and the others always went out of their way to include him. Ferret became close with his sibling, and they became the best of friends ever since he had become a part of the family. They were inseparable, and always stuck by each other’s side. Whenever one or the other was faced with confrontation, they stuck together and always stood their ground, no matter what. Ferret also shared a close bond with his mother as she had taken him in and shown him great care ever since. Sagedream had always treated him as though he was her very own kit, despite any other circumstances. BIRDWATCHER (SHE/HER) | SHE-CAT | 38 MOONS | BISEXUAL | KITS: Brackenkit, Breezekit, Clearkit, Clovekit | USER: lunapaw
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | A light grey dappled she-cat with darker grey mittens and spots on her back. She has a ringed tail, and a messy coat with dark grey ears. She’s a gorgeous she-cat with short whiskers and a long plumed tail.
PERSONALITY | She is extremely intuitive, and knows her way around. She is very understanding, and a natural leader at heart though she can often be sensitive. She’s a skilled huntress, who mostly prefers anything with feathers. She mostly keeps to herself, enjoying the solitude which she occasionally gets. She spends most of her time within the nursery, where she looks after her kits. As her name suggests, Birdwatcher enjoys going on the occasional walk to listen to and watch the wildlife. She enjoys the sounds of nature, and feels a strong connection to the Earth itself. She is very spiritual, and often receives visions she belives are from StarClan. Within these visions, she often sees other animals, typically a bear that is chasing after the dying sunlight. Though she has never been able to decipher the meaning of these visions, she hopes to meet a cat who may be able to.
HISTORY | Birdwatcher was abandoned by her mother when she was young, and has vague memories of her past life. She knew that she was once a kittypet, though she never longed for that life. She longed for the freedom to explore and adventure on her own, and she felt she had found this within clanlife. When she was abandoned, she had to learn to fend for herself in the mountains. She often hunted birds and other small animals, and became quite good at it. Since she grew up in mostly solitude, she found it difficult to adjust to clanlife.

ASTERPAW (SHE/HER) | SHE-CAT | 6 MOONS | BISEXUAL | USER: lunapaw
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | A primarily white she-cat with a grey back tattered with white speckles. She has a long light-grey tail, with darker grey mittens. She has a light-grey muzzle and ears. She is fluffy, with short whiskers. She’s a rather gorgeous she-cat who knows how to flaunt her beauty, though she is blind in one eye.
PERSONALITY | Asterpaw is a calm and fragile she-cat, though she is a skilled tracker and hunter. She is agile and intelligent, and she also knows how to fool just about anyone. She doesn’t let the loss of her eye affect her, though she has severe PTSD due to the owl attack. Asterpaw is a kind and compassionate she-cat, though she often keeps to herself. She is very emotional, and leads with that rather than her logic. She remains level-headed through the worst of situations, and is always rather relaxed. Asterpaw has flashbacks of the traumatic attack she endured, in which an owl clawed out her eye and took a piece of her ear. She has trouble sleeping due to this, and often wanders clan grounds during the night. Asterpaw has few friends, though she is close with Frostpaw, who has always been quite kind to her despite her differences. She spends most of her time either hutning or exploring, mostly alone.
HISTORY | She was born into the clan from two intelligent cats who spent the majority of their time involved with the clan affairs. They never spent much time with Asterpaw, leading her to often play alone. Due to this, she became a very imaginative she-cat. However, she never minded being alone most of the time, and rather enjoyed the solitude. Shortly after she was awarded her apprenticeship, she was sent on patrol with warriors. Asterpaw was attacked by an owl while on patrol, and she was lucky enough to escape with her life. After this, she became rather withdrawn and had always remained quiet. She experienced a bout of depression, and became rather isolated from the rest of the clan. Asterpaw lightened up later on, though she still often had flashbacks of her traumatic experience. Frostpaw was there to comfort her shortly after the attack, and remained by her side for a long while. Asterpaw had appreciated the company, and the two became close friends.

TINYROSE | SHE-CAT | 28 PHASES | FEMALE BISEXUAL | WISPCLAN SURVIVOR USER: Dawnmist
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | Tinyrose is a small white she-cat with green eyes.
PERSONALITY | Tinyrose is kind-hearted and caring, but she is also logical and realistic.
HISTORY | TBD PEBBLESTREAM | SHE-CAT | 41 PHASES | CISGENDER BISEXUAL | KIN: Sweetflower (mother), Smoketail (father), Willowbrook (sister,) Shardspark (half-brother). | MATE/KITS: Ashfire (former mate), Silver (daughter), fate of River (son) unknown. CURRENT BANISHED SURVIVOR| FORMER WISPCLAN USER: Dark Sun
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | Pebblestream is an average sized, soft looking she-cat. Her fur is of moderate length and is as sleek as an otters, minus along her belly and tail. She has a naturally slender, bodacious figure, but had gotten a bit tubby in her youth from spending a startlingly longer time at the nursery than most, and she has kept much of the weight ever since, predominantly at her cheeks, midsection, and her butt, which is particularly big and plump. Most of her pelt is a dull, evenly toned charcoal gray, and her underside, which includes her belly, haunches, chest, throat, chin, much of the surface of her legs, and her paws, are as white as fresh snow. Ash gray circular patches of varying sizes run along the sides of her pelt from head to tail. She has welcoming emerald green eyes, a carbon copy of her mother's. PERSONALITY: Pebblestream is a naturally gifted chameleon - her personality fluctuates depending on who she’s talking to, a skill she pulls off quite effortlessly. Around more "professional" and humorless individuals, she’ll put on a plain face and a pinpoint focused mind, showing little emotion at all.. She shows little time for small talk and would rather get straight to the point instead of beating around the bush or sugar coating anything. Under relaxed conditions however, particularly when she is surrounded by cats she trusts the most - those she has formed a greater emotional bond with - she becomes a much more approachable, casual and friendly character with a good sense of lighthearted humor. She has even be shown to be flirtatious at times when her confidence around others is high. While she isn’t quite on the level of being a natural den mother like her mother was (although she always knew she would have kits one day), she never stop giving it her all to reputation intact and to never seem obsolete, one method of which was always making herself useful inside or out of camp. Pebblestream is generally described as a very intelligent, crafty she-cat who has a knack for devising clever tactics and strategies that impressed even some of the senior warriors, and her natural maturity absolutely made her gain considerable grounds in winning their respect, despite her young age at the time. Ever since her self-exile seasons ago, underneath this sweet and respectable she-cat lies a deeply troubled soul, tortured by moons / phases of unrelenting trauma. She is emotionally vulnerable and her sense of judgment is shaky, especially to the cat who hurt her the most, her former mate. Meanwhile she clings to her daughter like a caterpillar to a leaf, paranoid as anything, and would do anything to protect her. HISTORY| Pebblestream's past is as clouded as WispClan territory on a typical morning - perhaps she considers her Banished existence her new life, the only one that matters now. After phases / moons of barely tolerating the Elder Circle and their increasing diabolical practices, she finally gave way and announced her departure.
She had planned on rejoining her sister on the Islands of Departure, but political turmoil acted as a roadblock to her for seasons, leaving her alone in the main part of the top of the territory to fend for herself. She was isolated for countless days and nights, until she was unexpectedly approached by a familiar tom late one evening. She immediately recognized him and - Ashfire, a former Clanmate of hers. She had barely known him while he had still served as a WispClan Guardian, only remembering that his previous attitude combined with largely undetermined but very likely serious reasons led to his exile. The tom had greeted her and took his place two tail-lengths away, obviously intending to stay. She resisted his company at first, but quickly found herself intrigued and later enthralled by the tom, although for what reason she could not exactly determine.
Several phases / moons later, she was carrying his kits, and they were well on their way to arrival. Ashfire barely visited now - Pebblestream would stay up for many sleepless nights waiting for his return. More than once she had attempted to track him down, but his scent trail mysteriously vanished before she could catch up with him, and she dared not to venture deeper into her former territory. He would always come back to her forever, including the day she delivered their kits. Once again, Ashfire would depart, returning only twice over the next two moons. During his latest reunion with the queen, he offered her a safe place beyond their borders where they could raise their kits together in peace. She deeply considered his offer - no, it almost sounded like an invitation, as if he had been preparing for this moment for some time - but after much silent deliberation she ultimately turned him down, determined to remain put until tensions lowered and she could take her place on the Islands; once WispClan were done with leaving them alone and their borders were no longer closed off, it would be safest there for her and her new litter of two.
Ashfire would seemingly accept his mate's decision, and would, at this point perhaps expectedly, disappear that same night. He was not taking no for an answer however, arrangements had already been made, a deal had been struck with the ShardClan leader. Deliver at least one of the kits, and he would guarantee his favor.
Like a fox in the night, Ashfire crept upon the sleeping bundle and awoke the tom-kit, River, with a nudge of a forepaw. The gray tom would take the kit a safe distance away before offering him a place amongst the sister Clan across the river. River was naturally reluctant and was determined to stay put with his family, but Ashfire, the far bigger of the two, already had his mind made up. He stuffed the kit's mouth with moss, grabbed it by the scruff, and retreated to the other side of the border. Pebblestream would awake the following morning in a rabid frenzy, and would frantically search for days for the newborn. He was nowhere to be found.
Several moons / phases passed. One evening while she was breastfeeding her daughter in the protection of a small cavity burrowed into the side of a cliff, a great storm bellowed through the region, sending a torrential downpour down the Sunlight Steppes' many channels, forcing the pair to flee. With their home flooded, and as they would later discover the tunnel to the Islands was completely collapsed, Pebblestream saw no choice but to begin their journey towards the mountains, hauling themselves through the devastated landscape of their old home. With any luck, she had thought, all of the surviving WispClan cats would be there waiting for them. MISCELLANEOUS | Her favorite prey-type is lizard, which was always a niche oddity among her Clanmates. | She still nurses Silver despite her daughter now fast approaching 7 phases / moons old. | She frequently has nightmares, leading to many sleepless nights and unbearable mornings. LILYHEART | SHE-CAT | 57 PHASES | CISGENDER DEMIROMANTIC/DEMISEXUAL, LESBIAN WISPCLAN SURVIVOR | KIN: Frostfeather (mother), Heavysplash (father), Silentsong (sister) USER: Dark Sun
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | Lilyheart is a she-cat of average size. Her fur is sleek and streamlined. Her base coat is white, and black flecks are sprinkled across her back, while several large lighter gray splotches are plastered irregularly on places such as her haunches and her butt, the tip of her tail, behind her left ear, and her muzzle. Her eyes are an enchanting dark forest green.
Prior to the disaster, Lilyheart typically boasted a lithe build during the colder periods of the year and became plumper during the warmer seasons when the ocean was restocked with schools of fatty fish; nowadays she is perpetually thin. She was often described as one of WispClan's most beautiful she-cats; heavy emphasis is placed on her bodacious, elegant figure, her gorgeous pelt, and her youthful face coupled with those startling eyes of hers. Her ears, while not as striking as her sister's, are conspicuous nonetheless. Her tail is moderately long, as are her four limbs; her hind legs are quite larger than her forelegs, giving her a large rump. Her paws are tipped with unusually long claws, perfect for skewing up the slippery texture of fish scales. She almost carries no scars, none worthy of mention.
PERSONALITY | Lilyheart is driven by duty and the service to her Clan. She has inherited her mother's temper and brutally blunt, direct nature. She has worked on managing her anger issues, but despite her best efforts she is always a dormant volcano waiting to explode.
Her social skills are fairly lacking - not out of apathy towards social situations, but is born out of undeveloped means to express herself clearly without sounding plain or rude. Her face is often blank, making it difficult to read her emotions. She is also terrible at accepting compliments, opting to an attempt to quickly change the subject. Lilyheart is also heavily introverted, preferring her own company to that of others, and at times she feels like she has to force herself to engage in the most basic of social pursuits. She hates small talk, and would love nothing more to connect with a cat on a deeper emotional level, but so far she is out of luck. Behind her rough exterior is a heart of gold. Her morals extend only to those within her Clan though - she greatly distrusts outsiders and has shown some evidence of xenophobic beliefs in the past.
To prevent herself from spiraling into a pit of paranoia from the amount of insecurities she has, she has developed into a workaholic as a continual effort keep her mind distracted elsewhere.
HISTORY | TBD
SILVER | SHE-CAT | 7 MOONS | BANISHED KIN: Pebblestream (mother), father or siblings unknown
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | Silver is a medium sized domestic medium hair and tabby she-cat. She is a very pretty molly, with gorgeous fur, a naturally lithe and elegant form (although due to her continued reliance on her mother's milk, a little bit of tubbiness along her face and midsection have set in), and a face that could enchant a StarClan cat. Her fluffy fur, which is predominantly longest at her tail and chest, is a most enchanting shade of silver that almost gives the impression that it's "glowing", and looks absolutely stellar when she is bathed in moonlight. Darker gray stripes run horizontally along her back and around her tail, breaking up the base coat; she has several white details in her fur as well, including socks, her chest and throat, and the bridge of her nose. Her large round eyes are a very cool blue and sparkle like gemstones.
Other details include the following: a cute black nose, black paw pads, relatively wide ears, nimble, long legs ending in dainty paws, and a tail that resembles a great plume of smoke.
PERSONALITY | Silver has shown to be an incredibly pure and innocent, if not naïve soul who never fails to take the time to admire the small things in life, from sunrises to fields of flowers. She has a strong belief that everyone and everything has an important role to play in the world, even horrific creatures such as foxes, or the lowly mosquito. She is incredibly sweet and gentle, and is always seeking to help other creatures out, whether it's with her own kind of perhaps a poor ladybug that toppled onto its back and needs rescuing. Unfortunately, her ability to stand up for herself is quite lacking, and any confrontation results in her stammering her words and cowering away in fear, like a turtle crawling back into its shell. She has to regularly deal with high or crippling levels of anxiety, which shackle her down and unfortunately play a big part in her social capabilities, or often lack thereof.
Silver has proved to be a very intelligent and creative individual who has no struggle thinking outside the box whenever confronted with a problem, a trait that came from her mother. She has personal difficulty speaking up however, as it expectedly fuels her anxiety to the absolute brim, and therefore tends to remain withdrawn. Public speaking flat-out murders her ability to speak. This has led to her develop to be an excellent listener however. She is never one to judge and has endless curiosity.
She usually isolates herself whenever she isn't clinging to her mother's side. Entering or initiating conversations has proven to be monumentally difficult for her, meaning that it would normally be up to others to make the first move. Her caution extends to everyday situations as well - it can take quite a few moments for her to even leave the nest in the morning.
HISTORY | Silver never knew Clan life, having been born and grown up as a Banished cat beyond the borders of WispClan's mainly patrolled territory. Early on she was offered up for adoption, but the Elder Circle rejected her, leaving her to live a life of solitude with her mother. Recently, a terrible duo of a storm and a flooding incident have forced them from their home.
MISCELLANEOUS | Due to almost drowning in the disaster, she has developed a fear of deep water. | She still drinks milk from her mother very regularly. She finds the bonding and the act itself especially comforting to her. | Her sense of hearing is especially sharp. As a result of this, her balance is a bit wonky, and she often finds the noisier portions of the world to be particularly overwhelming, such as the chatter within Clan camps or the rushing of the river; during these stressful situations she often crouches down and covers her ears. | She frequently daydreams or stares off into space, so despite her remarkable hearing she is spooked easily. | To help combat her anxiety, Silver often takes the time alone from others to meditate. TROUTDAWN | SHE-CAT | SHE/HER | 74 MOONS CISGENDER | LESBIAN | SURVIVOR OF WISPCLAN WC RANK : GUARDIAN SWIMMER
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | Troutdawn is a tall, slender she-cat with a pale-colored pelt and dark blue eyes. She is mostly a faint gray-beige with some darker striping down her back and a lighter underbelly.
PERSONALITY | Troutdawn has a very holier-than-thou personality and looks down on Shardclan cats. However, with the knowledge that she isn't getting any younger, she feels obligated to be a member of a surviving clan. She doesn't like to listen to toms, since Wispclan usually had mollies in positions of power, and she has an even worse bias against rogues or former Wispclan cats that were banished.
HISTORY | Troutdawn grew up in Wispclan with her family, her parents have since passed on, and her only surviving littermate is currently missing. Troutdawn herself was dragged far from where she had been hunting by a stronger-than-usual current and barely managed to survive. She is trying to get back to Wispclan and figure out what happened. _________________________________________

TINDER | TOM | HE/HIM | 88 MOONS | TBD USER: Dark Sun
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | Ragged light gray tabby tom with black paws, and dark blue eyes.
PERSONALITY | Grumpy, honest, fiercely territorial, thick skinned, blunt, simple.
HISTORY | TBD SWINDLE | SHE-CAT | SHE/HER | 78 MOONS TBD | USER: Dark Sun
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | Lithe gray-and-white she-cat with green eyes.
PERSONALITY | Antagonistic, argumentative, cold, stoic, a loudmouth, short temper (almost perpetually angry or bitter) apathetic, easily bored, selfish, jealous (of ShardClan), cunning, manipulative, mischievous, flirtatious.
HISTORY | A former kittypet turned rogue after her former owners threatened to have her returned to the shelter for being too violent and destructive around their home. Having remained in the shelter for years, the molly had no interest in going back. She escaped before she could be thrown into the back of a monster and departed the scene with haste, and never looked back. She used to live in a series of congested alleyways before she was driven out by a rising power (rogue gang) who refused to bring her in due to them knowing of her past heritage. The she-cat wandered for many moons before settling near ShardClan territory. (As to not break current lore, she will never mention her previous existence as a kittypet.)
MISCELLANEOUS | Photographic memory. | Incredibly swift and agile, despite her age. | Known as "the scentless she-cat" for maintaining a completely scent-free pelt. | Prefers to use traps and psychological warfare when engaging in combat, provided she didn't lose her quarry during a chase. When cornered, she often deploys dirty tactics such as using a forepaw to send dust or dirt into her opponent's eyes, or she'll slash their forehead open to blind them with their blood. She'll often go for vulnerable areas, such as the throat, ears, nose, or eyes. She avoids getting too close to her opponent (at least without disorientating them first), for most of this is a ruse and she is really no more than an average fighter. Unless she has no choice however, she seldom kills opponents - she sees them as her plaything

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE | A dark grey tom with a lighter grey chest tuft, and darker grey speckles scattered across his coat. He has lighter ear tufts, with piercing red eyes. He often wears a devious smirk across his face, and he has a scar across his right eye.
PERSONALITY | NightShade is a sadistic murderer of a tom, who was exiled from his previous clan due to kiling clanmates. He has violent dreams which he often mistakes as prophecies, and feels the need to fulfill them. He often views himself as a sort of renegade, wreaking havoc wherever he goes. He is a vicious tom that has murderous tendencies, and acts upon them accordingly. NightShade often lurks in the shadows where he is rarely spotted. He is a strong and large tom with great agility, and a skilled hunter. However, his hunting extends to other felines, as he seeks them out to kill.
HISTORY | NightShade was once part of a clan, though he was exiled due to murdering several of his clanmates, and once they discovered the traitor, they no longer had any use for a killing machine. NightShade once had a mate by the name of Waterstride, though one night he caught her with another tom. He murdered them both in cold blood, and never looked back. NightShade never had any regrets or qualms, knowing he was all-powerful. He often finds himself circling clan grounds, where he hopes to invade. Though many cats have been sent out to defeat NightShade, none of them have ever returned.

A shipwreck lies to the very South of WispClan land, but only the Elder Circle is aware of its existence. There is also a campsite Northwest of ShardClan land and an abandoned fishing hut and docks to the North of the territories, but these structures are currently undiscovered. 5) Soul
6) Spirit
7) Star 2
*1- (Head Healer only (optional)- returns to previous suffix when they retire)
*2- (Leader only (optional)- returns to previous suffix when they retire)
Note: Kits in ShardClan are not given their forenames until they are 6 moons of age, and their surname is presented to them when they graduate as Defenders, Hunters, or Healers, typically 6-7 moons afterwards. The term "paw" is not traditionally used as a temporary suffix.

Duskstar sat in front of the Giant Cedar, staring at the massive tree before him. He concentrated on what he knew he had to do, begin the ceremony for the new heir. He took a deep breath before making his way up the staggering roots that made a perfect staircase up to the tallest root. He sat down slowly as he looked over the camp, it was practically destroyed in the disastrous storm. They were lucky enough that the camp didn’t flood, and he had doubts that WispClan even made it through.
Duskstar focused his thoughts on what was important, the clan needed a new heir. He cleared his throat before speaking, “may every cat old enough to catch their own prey meet under the Giant Cedar.” He waited while the cats gathered, and he waited patiently for Batspots and Tatteredfur to take their places below the tree roots. “We have faced a tragedy bigger than we could have ever imagined, and we faced big losses. That’s why I stand here, in front of you all today, to begin the ceremony to elect a new heir.” Duskstar took a moment to take a few breaths before continuing, “today we will be electing a new heir in an unfamiliar way. I have decided that the high council will be choosing the new heir,” he took a moment to look at the cats before him, who gave snarky looks to one another.
Duskstar looked over to Batspots and Tatteredfur, “have you made a decision?” The tom asked the high council cats who stood a few tail lengths below him. He looked back up to the cats sitting in the crowd, very few of them were good enough to be the new heir. Maybe he thought that because he doubted all of their capabilities, or maybe he knew that no cat could replace Aspenheart.
Batspots cleared his throat and made a small nod towards Duskstar, “we have made a decision, and we have chosen Blackbriar for the new heir.” He mewed to the clan.
Duskstar felt as though a cat had raked him across the stomach, had they really chosen a cat who isn’t even a ShardClan born cat? He quickly snapped out of his dilemma as the whole clan stared at him, he cleared his throat and continued, “Blackbriar will carry the responsibilities as the ShardClan heir. Do you accept this role placed upon you?”

Blackbriar stared up at the Giant Cedar from her spot in the crowd. Her multicolored fur was ruffled from the strong winds that had blown over their clan and her head swirled with the aftermath of the storm. Shardclan had survived but lives had been lost. She knew a new heir had to be chosen, even though the death of Aspenheart still felt so very fresh.
Her amber gaze narrowed thoughtfully as Duskstar announced the change in their decision process. But once her name rang through her ears her eyes widened. It was.. unexpected. A former rogue to be heir? She felt a ripple of pride wash over her. It validated that rogues really were a part of the clan, even with their background and with all the judgement that had came from it.
However, her pride was overshadowed by a feeling of duty and responsibility. Looking around at her clanmates with whom she just shared an incredibly tough time she knew things weren’t going to be easy. The stakes were high and the high council placed a lot of trust in her with their choice. Clearly she wasn’t the only one surprised by it, even Duskstar seemed to feel some type of way about it - if only for a split second. That wasn’t about to dampen her spirit though. Rising up to her paws to get a better look at the cats sitting at the Giant Cedar, she meowed: “Yes, I’d be honored to.” She dipped her head respectfully to the keeper and the high council.

The star-pelted tom had been among the first below the Great Cedar. He always was, like some sixth sense had lured him in like buzzards following the enthralling scent of steaming crowfood in the roasting sun. He had been the first to notice changes in the air, the direction of the wind, the sound of the clouds rushing by overhead, before the storm had come - he always had a knack for these things, noticing the minute details, at times almost foreseeing events. It could be that a sliver of his soul was crying out, demanding to be freed like a bird stuck in brambles, the tiny inner monologue that the path of a Healer might have been a suitable alternate path for him. As far as he was largely concerned however, this was but raw instinct.
For seasons the tom had been biding his time, waiting, watching, assessing, like a hunter in the night stalking his prey. A bright flame had burned in him ever since he was but a kit - the fires of ambition. Like a dormant snake, he knew his time would come. That he could also sense. Nevertheless of how long he had to wait, he would play the game fairly and he would not make himself too obvious. Now, at long last, the tendrils of power might finally reach for him, welcoming him in like a queen inviting her kits back into the nursery where they belonged.
The tom was at the foot of a scraggly alder, glancing up at the unoccupied Giant Cedar above. There had been no emotion in his eyes, his face betrayed nothing to anyone who might have taken a glance. Such a longing stare, unbroken until the ruins of their camp was overrun like a swarm of bees, his surviving Clanmates emerging from their ravaged dens. From the opposite direction, Duskstar and the High Council emerged. They appeared shaken like everyone else, but like the mightiest tree before them, they ultimately remained rooted to the ground, disturbed by undefeated by recent events. The tom had always respected his superiors for their remarkable focus - perhaps they too recognized his qualities.
Soon... soon.
Of course the black-and-white tom had not been cherishing this cataclysm nor the fall of many of his denmates, many of which he considered good friends, Aspenheart included. Though they did not speak often, he had long since come to respect the then Heir of ShardClan. He would have made a commendable leader should he had lived, but fate was a cruel she-cat and had snatched him, and others, away from the living world.
May you find peace amongst the stars. he had meowed through a silent prayer.
In spite of recent tragedies, burning in the mind of ShardClan like fire on wood, they could not linger. WispClan undoubtedly would have sustained heavy casualties, and although it was unlikely for them to launch an invasion at this hour, the tom knew they couldn't take any chances. But it wasn't their rival neighbors his concerns were primarily placed on - that was on the foxes and badgers that stalked their borders, as well as any opportunistic rogue that might use the Clan's current disorganization to their advantage. Not one patrol had been sent out since late last evening - that would have to be rectified.
Duskstar spoke, and with that everyone listened intently, the tom included. He had expected his leader to announce the new Heir, but instead it was the High Council - an odd but favorable choice. Aspenheart's death would certainly have taken a huge toll on him - like ShardClan, he needed the time to recover and gather his thoughts.
"We have made a decision, and we have chosen Blackbriar for the new heir.”
Those words ate through the tom like termites on tree bark. An impurity as Heir? Surely Duskstar had no part in this and would challenge the Council, demanding authority be turned back over to him. He was wrong about this assumption - Duskstar seemed entirely too accepting of this decision. He could not have engineered it, had he? He had long since gathered his opinion on the outsiders, and he was no sympathizer. The tom searched his face, extrapolating everything he was able to from the vast distance. Was there doubt he saw in his leader's eyes, like a tiny flicker of a flame before dying out in charred embers? Yes, that was doubt, that of which he was certain. Nonetheless, some of his respect for his leader seemed to burn out along with it.
There were few candidates, sure, but surely they must not resort to this? There were some worthy cats still amongst them, such as... himself. His tongue salivated at the possibility. Crescentstar.
But no, he still reserved the title of Crescentfall, and worse still, he still bore the rank of Defender.
He had always hated the impurities. It felt good to hate them, it made his nerves come alive. It granted him purpose, knowing there was always that impossible challenge out there waiting for them. Cleanse this world, exterminate them all. Such a beautiful verse. It gave him what he had always so desired. Power. Pride. Point.
Now, those pedestals gave out beneath him like fragile branches, sending him careening to the endless depths below. He was drowning again, like when he had been a kit and had fallen into Frog Stream. His mother had leaned over and fished him out, his darling savior. But she was gone now, as well as his father. He was on his own. With sheer determination, he broke the surface, gasping for breath, struggling to focus. With time his sight returned and his vision narrowed. He hated Blackbriar so much, his lungs were screaming, but he could not expose his position. Further patience was key.
Crescentfall realized he had been idle for too long. If he wanted power, he would have to seize it.

Honeyfeather she-cat - 23 moons - hunter crush: open location: under the Giant Cedar - tags: open
Honeyfeather shifted closer to Driftshadow, the harsh wind felt like it cut straight through her fur. "We have made a decision, and we have chosen Blackbriar for the new heir." She perked up, trying to locate the she-cat and see her reaction. It was a bit of a surprise, but not a bad one. Blackbriar was a very respectable cat, and although Honeyfeather wasn't personally close with her, she had confidence she could do a good job. Blackbriar seemed to like the rigidity and structure of the clan and seemed like she would fit right into being in charge.
Dapplefur she-cat - 23 moons - hunter crush: open location: under the Giant Cedar - tags: open
Dapplefur had been in the middle of something when the announcement started so she didn't bother locating her sister and settled at the back of the crowd of cats. When she heard the new heir would be Blackbriar, she was overjoyed. If the clan could make a former rogue the new heir, then things were on the right track in her eyes. She was certain there would be cats that didn't agree with the decision, and she had already picked her side. She shifted on her paws, excited at the prospect of congratulating the she-cat after the meeting was over.
Driftshadow tom - 54 moons - defender crush: none location: under the Giant Cedar - tags: open
Driftshadow was relieved to be standing in camp next to Honeyfeather after all the chaos from the storm. Announcements didn't usually interest him, as he tried to stay quiet and out of the way of more important cats, but this one was different. Blackbriar was a former rogue, he knew that for certain. She didn't act like one, and certainly didn't talk like one, but he knew she received the same glares he did. There was a moment where he wondered if he hadn't lost his mate if he would have tried harder to be a clan cat like her and if he could have earned the same respect she clearly had, but he cast the thought aside and let himself lean on Honeyfeather a bit more. Being with his kits, safe and sound, clan or no clan, was all that mattered. He wouldn't have made a good leader anyway.
Fernleaf tom - 23 moons - scout crush: open location: under the Giant Cedar - tags: open
Fernleaf heard the announcement and felt his pelt begin to prickle. How could they pick a former rogue? Blackbriar wasn't a clan cat, how could they trust her to lead a clan? The storm that destroyed the camp was bad, this was just adding insult to injury. Even his mousefodder of a sister, Honeyfeather, was half a clan cat more than Blackbriar was. He had to contain his reaction to try to prevent the cats around him from noticing, but his tail swished, irritated. Tabbies never change their stripes, when the job got hard, and it would, he was confident that Blackbriar would turn back to her rogue ways. He was over this farce, and looked around, ready to leave, just waiting for the other cats to start moving first.

// Snowbloom, gathered under the Giant Cedar
Snowbloom sat at the front, her swollen belly clearly on display. The storm had been quite scary to her at first but when she learned that everyone would fuss over her because she carried kits it got a whole lot better. She loved being a queen, her belly getting her all the attention she craved and she didn’t have to do so much work. If only she could be pregnant forever..
She barely listened to what the keeper and high council announced. It didn’t matter to her who became the new heir, well that’s not fully true. It only mattered if Mudfur would’ve taken the spot. Then other cats would’ve really looked up to them. But that wasn’t the case, Blackbriar was appointed, so she lost interest quickly. She had to keep herself from sighing with boredom.
// Appleheart, gathered under the Giant Cedar
Appleheart had laid down his repairwork on the dens that were ravaged by the storm to gather with his clanmates at the keeper's call. He listened intently to the announcement. Surely the new heir had big pawsteps to fill, Aspenheart had been a beloved member of the clan. His ears perked up with surprise as Blackbriar was appointed. Some cats would definetely not enjoy having to listen to a rogue in charge. He didn't mind though, he never understood why there had to be such a divide according to where one came from. The past was the past. Hopefully this decision by the high counsil would unify the clan more. Make them stronger by accepting eachother. However, Appleheart knew it would be a long stretch. Which was confirmed by the mixed response the announcement received.

PALEFACEpaleface | 79 moons | they/them, she/her | Small dusky brown she-cat with a white face, and pale yellow eyes.
Paleface swished their tail back and forth in impatience. Their paws were twitching, claws extending in and out, and although laying flat they felt as if their fur was as prickly as a den full of porcupines. Just get along with it already! We're not getting any younger here! The she-cat had absolutely zero cool waiting for anything - they had only been clustered with their Clanmates in roaring anticipation for less than half the time it took for a cat to eat a mouse. If a cat stood in their way for more than a heartbeat or two, the brief thought of them clawing their ears off would whiz through their mind.
The dusky brown she-cat was particularly on edge today, and for good reason. The recent storm had shaken them from nose to tail tip, and the loss of some of their Clanmates had sent their emotions spiraling through the roof. They of course were well aware the surviving ShardClan cats were going through similar turmoil, but nonetheless some level of selfishness or at least brash behavior was racing through their mind like a hunter at top speed. Why had no patrols been sent out since just after the cataclysm occurred? Surely the borders must be checked, prey stocked up. The few remaining kits must be starving by this point, and there was barely a mouse tail left on the pathetic prey heap.
Paleface didn't particularly care who was in charge, so long as they were ready to put all the work in with no compromises and no fussing. Goodness me, they would constantly think, the majority of their Clanmates seemed like nothing more than kits grown up into adult bodies. At least they weren't whining or groaning as they had dragged themselves out of their dens.
Nonetheless, the announcement of an outsider as Heir rippled through Paleface's system. The Clan needed a strong, dignified new second-in-command in a time like this. This would only potentially cause further divide within the ranks. Surely this was not the time nor the place? The she-cat narrowed their eyes, either from their disagreement with the decision, or perhaps it was because of the sun's rays spotlighting their face directly. They also had doubts that a former rogue had the drive to put all the work in. Blackbriar would have to prove herself to them, just like to the rest of their Clanmates. Still, no reason to put them down on the first day of the job. When the meeting had concluded, Paleface made the uncharacteristic move of approaching the newly appointed multi-colored tortoiseshell to congratulate her.
"It seems that the High Council," they began. They had almost said "Duskstar". "...made an interesting decision. Of course though, I will hold you to the same standards regardless of where you come from. I hope you're ready for the tasks ahead of you." they meowed, showing a creepy toothy grin, the closest they ever came to a smile.

Duskstar fought himself to bite his tongue as he looked at Blackbriar, as he doubted her immensely. He wanted anything but to oppose their decision, but he owed the high council his respect. With so many of the clan gone, Duskstar had to trust them with their decision. “Then as Keeper of ShardClan, I welcome you. May you guide your Clanmates well,” he mewed clearly and dipped his head. He could feel the many stares from the clan, he then jumped down from the large root next to Blackbriar, “we need patrols sent out. Don’t come to me unless you have answers about WispClan.” Duskstar ordered before heading towards his den.
Splashclaw padded quickly to catch up to Duskstar and followed him into his den, “what are you doing? Letting an outsider replace Aspenheart?” She mewed sternly but a bit shaky, she still couldn’t accept that Aspenheart was gone. And how could an outsider replace Aspenheart, how dare they, she thought silently to herself.
Duskstar turned and faced her, he knew she was still grieving and he didn’t want to upset her. Aspenheart was his best friend, and he had grown somewhat close to his family over time. He let out a sigh, knowing there was no nice way to say it, “we respect the high council. Would you challenge their authority? And how dare you challenge mine. Go, now.” Duskstar said clearly before turning his back towards her.
Splashclaw flattened her ears, she could feel her eyes getting watery and she left the den quickly. So many emotions flooded her, she was angry, she was sad, but mostly she was grieving.
// Mudfur with Snowbloom in camp
Mudfur padded slowly over to his mate, Snowbloom, who was expecting their kits. “How are you feeling?” He asked her, and although the new heir lingered in his mind, he cared much more for his mate. One half of him expected to become the heir, and the other half was thankful he’s not. He know that even though Blackbriar wasn’t clan born, she could do the job just as well.

(Is Thrushleap a defender or a hunter? What about Fernleaf? And are there specific cats we want to have on the patrol that finds the Wispclan cats?)
// Blackbriar with Paleface, clearing
Blackbriar was still standing tall, steadily meeting the keeper's gaze as he meowed his welcomes to her. She thanked him with a respecful dip of her head. "Consider it done." A soft grin lined her mouth. She could sense Duskstar wasn't fully welcoming of her new position. They'd never spoken much on a personal level - only about business. But that didn't matter to her. They'd have to work together. No matter her background, no matter Duskstar's opinion of her. And she was going to make this work, she owed it to the other former rogues in the clan that faced the same judgement. Her clanmates reluctance just fanned the flame burning inside of her. What more was this than just another challenge?
Once Blackbriar turned around to scan the crowd for cats to send out on patrols Paleface came up to her. Her tailtip twitched with subtle - though positive - suprise at the words of the experienced hunter. She thought Paleface would be harsh, judgmental maybe but this was definitely something different. "I'd expect nothing less." She nodded comfirmingly at their last comment. Paleface’s work ethic was something Blackbriar respected, even though their ways with others were sometimes questionable. The passion for working hard the two of them shared made the new heir all the more appreciative of her clanmate’s words.
“You can lead the first hunting patrol. Take Feathertail, Honeyfeather and Marigoldsong with you. If you see anything out of the ordinary, let me know. As soon as you get back I’ll send a second hunting patrol on it’s way in the opposite direction.” Blackbriar meowed to Paleface after a short pause to think. The prey pile desperately needed to be stocked but she couldn’t send out all the hunters at once. Plus, the camp was a mess and it needed to be rebuilt too.
// River with Splashclaw, near Duskstar’s den
River’s noticed Splashclaw leaving Duskstar’s den, looking quite distressed. His blue gaze quickly scanned around him before he hurried towards her. Luckily Ashfire was nowhere to be seen. He only called Splashclaw ‘mom’ when the large tom wasn’t around, out of fear he’d dismiss River’s feelings as weakness or point out that she’s not really his mother.
“Mom… are you okay?” He meowed, worry clear in his tone. It was an emotion reserved almost exclusively for her. Since she took him in as a kit, she was the first cat he really trusted. She was the mother who did want him and who raised him lovingly. River was convinced she must be one of the kindest cats around. Seeing her so upset was terrible.
// Snowbloom with Mudfur, clearing
Snowbloom perked up at the voice of her mate. “Oh hey.” She purred, sitting up so she could look at him better. “I’m feeling fine actually.” The fact that she didn’t worry about much but her social status had a positive effect on the kits growth; there was no stress to keep them from being healthy. Not even much from the storm, as she’d been too elated by all the attention she was getting to worry that she would possibly die. Besides, she wasn’t the smartest cat around. She knew that. But at least she was the prettiest! With a very accomplished mate. Her life was perfect. “I could’ve sworn Duskstar would make you the new heir.” That would’ve made her life even better. Oh well.
(I hate and love Snowbloom simultaneously 😂😭)

PALEFACE paleface | 79 moons | they/them, she/her | Small dusky brown she-cat with a white face, and pale yellow eyes.
The small dusky brown she-cat dipped their head with respect. They were more than pleased to be leading the first hunting patrol since the disaster - in all honesty, they always found it quite uncomfortable and at times aggravating when they weren't leading them at all! Honestly, some of their Clanmates acted like spoiled young Fledglings at times. They were determined to ensure that this patrol would go swiftly and return with a bountiful of meat without issues.
"I'll gather them right away. I'll be taking them along the border of our territory nearest towards Fox Woods - the heavy rain would have washed all traces of our scent away, and the foul creatures that live there will be sure to not forget who controls this side of the forest," she meowed, their voice sounding like she had tasted something bitter and was scraping it off of their tongue. "Let us hope they are remaining cowering in their dens." they added as they whipped around. They quickly scooped up Feathertail, Honeyfeather, and finally Marigoldsong (they had to wait for her as she was busy making dirt) and took the lead towards the exit of the camp. The thorn tunnel was entirely gone, likely turn apart and blown apart in the wind. It would have to be replaced as soon as possible - the camp was exposed like a turtle having lost its shell without it.
"We're heading towards Fox Woods, so listen up. The scent markers will have to be replaced immediately upon our arrival. Along the way and after, we may hunt. Equally as important, we cannot allow those maggot filth to think we have abandoned our borders. We are proud, we are strong, and ShardClan is very much still alive, and they will not disregard that fact. Understood?" they called out behind them, their voice as grating and as sharp as teeth scraping against stone. "If you hear anything, see anything, scent anything, don't investigate. Report to the rest of the patrol without hesitation, and for StarClan's sake, from now on keep your mouths as quiet as you can. You don't want any trouble."
Normally the phrase would have been "I don't want any trouble", but the cats on the patrol knew full well just how cutthroat Paleface could be when irritated.
A thin drizzle splashed onto the she-cat's body, water that was collected among the leaves and branches of the tall alders and pines above, remnants of the terrible storm that had only just struck the land. They shook their pelt to remove the uncomfortable dampness settling in, not caring if the rainwater was being sent directly onto their Clanmate's pelts behind them. The ground beneath their feet was almost as boggy as mud, making every pawstep that little more difficult. The air was filled with the vibrant scents of the forest. Not much had changed there. A noticeable amount more sunlight was peaking through the canopy up above however, and as the she-cat looked up they realized in some spots there was no cover left at all. Their gaze lowered, their eyes tracing down the trunk of a tall Douglas fir bent awkwardly towards one side before meeting the disturbed ground around it. This was but one tree that had been lost to the test of the world yesterday - there would undoubtedly be plenty more that had joined it in its defeat. Crude territory border map (below). Outlined in orange is ShardClan territory, green is former WispClan territory, and yellow represents former Banished land.
Paleface and their patrol are heading towards the bottom-left section towards the very beginning of the next forest, along that "bulge".

(I don’t have any preference, I do think that Blackbriar should be on the patrol that finds wisp. Unless Jademist you don’t want her to be I don’t mind. Other than that, it doesn’t matter. I have Mudfoot, Sparroweye, and/or Morningstream that could go too)

(Not really Dark Sun! Paleface may go in the direction she sees fit. Anywhere except for where they would run into the Wispclan cats I think 🤔 Dawnmist Ah okay, I’ll make a nice selection!)

PEBBLESTREAM & SILVER pebblestream | 41 phases | pretty gray-and-white she-cat with light gray spots, and green eyes.
silver | 7 phases | silver tabby she-cat with fluffy fur, and blue eyes.
current location: sunlight steppes below the first "S" | tags: none
Something shifted in a small cavity carved in to the face of one of the low lying cliffs, as if a pile of stone had come to life. It groaned and exhaled as the light from the early morning sun basked it in its blinding rays. A head lifted, revealing the form of the face of a feline. The creature's dull eyes squinted at the harsh new light, complaining once more as it readjusted to the light within the tiny cave.
"It's morning." the gray-and-white cat meowed femininely. Her head hurt, like if rocks had been pounding on it all night long. She struggled to remember - no, that had been the sound of the rain, the trees falling in the distance, water rushing from the river far louder than she had heard it before. Luckily she and her daughter frequently resided nearby - they may not have made it through the night otherwise. They had not had the privilege of resting on soft bedding the previous night unfortunately, leaving the she-cat so stiff she could barely even move. What was her name again? It was on the tip of her tongue. P... Pe... Pebble...
"Pebblestream." she meowed with grace as she recalled the familiar vocal structure.
Pebblestream lingered almost motionless for some time longer. She craved sleep, sleep that would eternally take her away from this place. Had she meant to die last night and she had but been delaying the inevitable? Although more greatly exposed out here, she feared for the safety of her Clanmates most of all. The forest must have been damaged greatly from the insufferable winds and rain. Even after having exiled herself all those moons ago, she still loved them.
The overwhelming, comforting thought of sleep took over the she-cat once more. She lowered her chin onto her forepaws and was about to complete the curl of her tail around her face when her muscles suddenly jolted, as if she had been hit by a bolt of lightning. This sudden disturbance had been entirely intentional by her, one last ditch attempt to jostle herself away. She had a daughter to care for, who was sleeping soundly half a tail-length ahead of her. She must have rolled over in the night. Cautiously the she-cat drew one forepaw forward and prodded the still body in front of her. She was a little cold, but nowhere near enough to signify she was at death's feet. She sighed with relief.
"Silver," the plump molly croaked, prodding her a few times more. "Come to me, you need warmth."
The smaller she-cat groaned in disapproval at having been pulled out of the land of dreams. No more words or sounds came out of her. Slowly the damp scrap got to all four of her delicate paws before padding over to her mother and plopping herself down at her midsection, taking in her mother's warmth. Pebblestream curled around her daughter, embracing her as best she could - now close to 7 phases old, she wasn't exactly the size of a kit anymore. The pair lay in silence for an undisclosed amount of time.
"I'm thirsty." the smaller silver she-cat mewed in a half tired state.
Pebblestream nodded and rolled over onto her side. She twitched uncomfortably at the sudden realization how cold and dank the rough stone felt beneath her body - she must had been exceptionally exhausted last night to have slept through the feeling, not to mention the ruckus that had been going on outside. A new sensation took hold as her daughter started to feed. The queen clutched her wrapped tail tighter around Silver now.
We must move soon. There is no prey here. she thought. She reasoned the other Banished cats, if there were any alive at all she horridly thought, wouldn't be in the mood for sharing any fresh-kill they could capture, and most of the prey up here would have scurried into their burrows and wouldn't be seen for perhaps days. Would WispClan offer her aid? They weren't aware of her having a kit, and she was aware of the potential consequences upon her reveal. What else was there to do? Travel to ShardClan?
No, she would make way to the WispClan camp. She did not know what she could offer in return for her and her kit's temporary asylum - she was sure the Elder Circle wouldn't let her in out of the kindness of their own hearts for free. Looking down at her daughter, who was still busily drinking, she tucked her head in and rested it beside her shoulder. While they were stuck here, she would take in the moment, count her blessings, and make a game plan. The dripping of water droplets outside the moist cave barely interrupted her thoughts as she pondered in the sanctuary of her own mind.

Honeyfeather she-cat - 23 moons - hunter crush: open location: hunting patrol to fox woods - tags: Paleface (Dark Sun ) Marigoldsong (Dawnmist ) Feathertail (lunapaw🐾 )
Honeyfeather heard her name called for the hunting patrol and quickly followed, nodding at Driftshadow as a brief farewell before they left camp. Paleface always barked out orders so gruffly, she flicked her ears in mild annoyance. She would never disobey orders, but did they always have to talk like that? Every sentence like they were itching for any cat foolish enough to talk back? She doubted any would after everything that had happened. The water dripping down from the trees was making her fur stick to her sides, Driftshadow's efforts to groom her earlier were clearly in vain. At least it wasn't colder, the water alone didn't bother her much, she was never a perfectionist. Fox Woods was far from her favorite destination and she really hoped they didn't run into too much trouble. It was the farthest point from camp in the territory, and Driftshadow has long since trained her to keep her wits about her far from camp like that.
Dapplefur she-cat - 23 moons - hunter crush: open location: clearing - tags: Blackbriar (Jademist )
As soon as other cats started moving around and the new Heir sent out the first patrol, Dapplefur couldn't wait any longer and made a beeline for Blackbriar. Her tail tip was twitching with excitement and she barely came to a stop in front of the older she-cat before she started talking. "Congratulations on the new rank! I know you'll be a great Heir, the High Council truly is very wise for choosing you," she spoke loudly, with complete and utter confidence. There was unabashed admiration sparkling in her eyes when she looked at Blackbriar. "Sorry, I know I shouldn't take up your time, but I just really wanted to tell you that," she added.
Driftshadow tom - 54 moons - defender crush: none location: camp - tags: open
Driftshadow watched Honeyfeather leave camp and realized he better get to work as well. Can't leave his kits to do all the work after all. He spotted Maplebloom dart over the Blackbriar, she was still the same boisterous cat as when she was a kit, and he got to work collecting up the debris that was all over camp. Sticks and leaves were strewn everywhere from the wind. There would be a lot of rebuilding to do, so anything that seemed useful he piled up near the particularly damaged areas like the meager remains of the thorn tunnel. It would be a lot of work to rebuild. Even if every cat did nothing else, it seemed they would still be going to sleep in an unfinished camp, and he knew there were mouths to feed. He did a quick scan of the camp to see if any other cats needed anything more urgent taken care of.
Fernleaf tom - 23 moons - scout crush: open location: camp - tags: open
At the first sign of Blackbriar ordering a hunting patrol, Fernleaf got away from the gathering of cats to make himself useful and avoid having to be bossed around by the former rogue. When he saw who was actually on the patrol, his mood somehow worsened. Really, Honeyfeather? That mouse-brain was one of Blackbriar's first choices? She was already turning out to be a bad Heir. When he spotted Driftshadow join his efforts to clean up the camp he almost stopped what he was doing but knew the clan came first. He kept an eye on the senior warriors though, expecting orders soon. (Sorry I'm a bit late to the party!)

PEBBLESTREAM & SILVER pebblestream | 41 phases | pretty gray-and-white she-cat with light gray spots, and green eyes.
silver | 7 phases | silver tabby she-cat with fluffy fur, and blue eyes.
current location: sunlight steppes below the first "S", later the northern tree line. | tags: none
A very light drizzle manifested shortly after the two she-cats reunited from their slumber, the soft wind that was blowing in their direction sprayed droplets onto their fur coats, but it was the uncomfortable cold that accompanied it that sent shivers down their spines. The only source of warmth the queen experienced was from the form of the smaller gray she-cat burrowed into her side. Her purr fell in perfect rhythm with Silver's, easing her mind a little.
We must travel to the WispClan camp first thing. Surely even if the camp is flooded, they would have retreated up the rock ledge into the Elder's Den? she pondered. A frown hit her, one that almost reversed into a guilty smile. She knew all too well the Elder Circle would have made a large fuss about that.
Pebblestream, who had been watching her daughter fondly for the longest time, returned her gaze to the mouth of the "cave" - it was too small to be a real cave, but too great to be called an overhang - as she mentally prepared herself for the journey ahead of them. It wasn't the greatest stretch in the world, not by a long short, but with the high likelihood of fallen trees and turned up debris, the passage would be slow, there would certainly be detours, and the wet ground would stick to their paws.
The plump queen returned her attention back to her belly as her daughter finally pulled away. She had finished feeding and was curled up but a mouse length from the curvature of her midsection. She wanted to give her all the time in the world to rest, but but they didn't have the luxury of time on their paws.
"Silver," Pebblestream meowed, holding back the tiredness in her voice, as she prodded the smaller she-cat with a paw. "We cannot rest yet - it'll just make walking more tedious. Come on, we have to get up now." she insisted, taking the initiative and rose to all four of her paws, cringing at the cracking of her joints.
"Are we going to a warmer nest?" Silver croaked, barely able to keep her eyes open as she joined her mother's stance.
Pebblestream shook her head. "I don't think we're going to have the luxury of dry bedding for a few nights at least. With any luck though, we'll run into some others."
"Others?" Silver echoed.
Her mother held back an answer. She wanted to speak, but no words came out. This would be the first time within her daughter's memory that she was going to meet other cats. This would be a strange new experience for her, but one she would have to adapt to - this was likely to be the norm for her from now on.
Pebblestream had self-exiled herself seasons ago after rising conflicts between herself and the Elder Circle. There were no arguments or foul words spat between any of them - she took her leave towards the end of a regular Clan meeting, and was disappointed at the time to see no cats accompany here. With the cats from the Islands keeping to themselves now, she would have been all alone out there, but it was a choice she made on her own conscience. She could not serve under leaders who saw no value in their Clanmates. This was also long before she had become a mother. Some days she wished it had stayed that way - looking back on her past self only two moons ago, she had been selfish, no cat deserved to grow up in the life of an outcast - but every time she looked into her daughter's reaching eyes, she felt a sense of purpose that had been robbed from her too years ago.
If only her brother could have been here with them... But given she was struggling to raise only one young adolescent, perhaps that was for the best. She hated the idea that he would be better off with Ashfire. Should she have joined him? Why hadn't she?
"Yes, the rest of WispClan." she meowed, noticing she had been staring into open space for a few moments. "We're heading to their camp. It's not safe for us out here any more, and with whatever prey is left buried underground in their own nests, we'll starve if we remain. Now come on, you need the room to have a good stretch." the queen meowed as she made her way into broad daylight away from the protective cover of the looming cliff. Silver let out an audible sigh and followed her outside, using the opportunity to remove the stiffness from her legs and toes.
"So where are we going to?" Silver inquired. "Way out there towards the trees?" she mewed, making an educated guess.
"Correct. The edge of the tree line marks the more heavily patrolled section of WispClan land. I doubt we'll meet anyone until we make it further into the heart of the forest however. Do you see those large ridges of rock to your left?" she meowed, indicating with her tail towards the towering mounds, which resembled miniature mountains. "Inside there is the camp. There are some secret routes up and in, but we won't be taking those - the rocks will be too slippery and there's no telling they're even accessible anymore what with yesterday's storm. We'll have to take the long way down towards the bottom, right up to the thorn tunnel. Now follow, and try not to lag behind."
Within short time the fragments of rain ceased falling from the billowing pale clouds, as if the world had been weeping in sorrow from the former turbulence. All of a sudden the surrounding view became a bit more cheerful, and the blurry outlines of the trees in the distance became clearer. The she-cats had not been traveling long - the grass only grasped about halfway up the queen's legs and only a little higher on Silver's, and the gentle slope downwards aided them along the way. As they approached the tree line, Pebblestream heard her daughter's stomach gurgle from behind her. She slowed her gate as she allowed her to catch up.
"Did you get enough milk this morning?" she asked her, looking over her shoulder.
"Well, mostly," Silver mewed bashfully, looking off to one side briefly. "But it'll be nice to have some more later."
"I'm afraid I don't have anymore right now," Pebblestream meowed, recalling the last moments of Silver's previous feed where the smaller silver molly had been struggling. "I am doubtful WispClan's prey-heap pile survived, so you'll have to wait longer than you're used to." she added. She kept a mental note as they were enveloped in the shadows of the towering golden birches - look out for prey. Now that the light rain had stopped, any fresh scents laid down by any forest creatures should remain easily detectable.
"Wow." Silver mewed in wonder, her eyes growing as large as full moons as she looked up, and up, and up at the beautiful sight. She lifted her gaze up, and up, and up, all the way up the length of their white spines, and she still could not see the tops of their magnificent golden pelts.
"Now listen closely," Pebblestream meowed to her sternly, only continuing when the she-cat's eyes met her own. "WispClan is unlikely to take kindly to trespassers in their lands. I am not sure how they'll react to you - they'd never hurt a kit, but given that you're Banished like myself..." she paused. "Just let me do the talking if we run into any of them. I know many of them personally, some were very good friends of mine seasons ago, and plenty of them are reasonable cats."
"Okay, I understand." Silver mewed obediently. "Let's go then. I'm not a kit either, I'm 7 phases old now." she added, puffing out her chest.
"Then lie. Say you're not yet 6 phases." Pebblestream meowed plainly.
"Okay, fine. But... you'll lead the way, r-right?" she stammered, suddenly intimidated by the looming forest in front of them."
"No I won't. I want you sticking to my side like a caterpillar to a leaf." her mother told her as she pushed forward, only picking up her walking pace as Silver fell in line beside her.

Splashclaw with River
Splashclaw couldn’t help but smile at the sight of River. One thing was certain, and that was her love for her kits even if she didn’t kit them herself. “I’ll be okay, it’s hard getting used to things without Aspehheart, but I’ll get there.” She mewed softly to the small tom. She let out a small sigh, as she didn’t really know if she was comforting him or herself. “How are you feeling?” Splashclaw asked River, she was curious if he had been okay through everything that’s been going on.
Mudfur with Snowbloom
Mudfur smirked at Snowbloom, she had always had such blunt comments, and he never really minded it. “I thought so too.. But I don’t mind, more time for you and the kits.” He mewed with a smile, oh how I have softened up. “Anyways, have you talked to Rainstalk? When are we having these kits anyways…” the tom trailed off, he thought about the kits and how excited and scared he was. He wanted to be ready, but he never would be.
Marigoldsong with patrol
Marigoldsong trotted after the patrol, her ears twitched as Paleface made orders. She never had a problem listening to orders, but she was never a fan of how bossy Paleface could be. The she-cat looked to Feathertail and then to Honeyfeather, “does anyone else not like the Fox Woods?” She asked the two she-cats in a whisper.
Sparroweye with Fernleaf in camp
Sparroweye padded up to Fernleaf, and with a smile she asked, “do you mind helping me clean out the elders den?” The elders den had gotten filled with a lot of leaves, twigs and other things for the storm and needed to be cleaned out.

PEBBLESTREAM & SILVER
pebblestream | 41 phases | pretty gray-and-white she-cat with light gray spots, and green eyes.
silver | 7 phases | silver tabby she-cat with fluffy fur, and blue eyes.
current location: west of the WispClan camp, heading into the forest toward / in said camp | tags: none
Pebblestream and Silver stood shoulder to shoulder, their pawsteps almost in sync with one another, as they pushed their way through the dense undergrowth. It was not too long before they encountered a beaten down path, a thin strip of land trampled by generations of pawsteps, exposing the bare topsoil beneath. Good, thought the gray-and-white queen. That should make our passage much easier.
The forest around them seemed in a slightly battered state, but otherwise relatively untouched. The white and gray birches stood tall and proud, undefeated in spite of their fragile skeletons. Their magnificent golden leaves, a feature that they carried almost year-round, littered the ground as if it were already dusk-leaf, and were joined by a host of detached branches and twigs scattered aimlessly, no real surprise there given the harsh winds that had been present yesterday. There was an eerie silence in the air - not even the flutter of a bird or the sound of a squirrel cracking open a nut could be heard - only a soft breeze accompanied the pair.
Pebblestream's senses were on full alert, her claws retracting out of their sheaths periodically as she mentally prepared herself for the potential need for self-defense at any moment, and she would defend the life of her kit until her last dying breath. That moment did not arrive thankfully, but the tension in the she-cat's muscles would increase tenfold as a truly disturbing sight fell upon them both.
"It's all gone," Pebblestream hoarsely croaked as she struggled to find any words at all. Nothing within her language could describe the desolation that lay before her. Her paws felt weak beneath her, threatening to give out at any moment. She would have let them if she was alone - she felt like she wanted to just lay over and shut her eyes, and let the world take her. "Everything is destroyed." she meowed, her voice barely more than a whisper.
Countless corpses stretched out before them in almost all directions, forming a rough circle or oval. Dozens of tree-lengths of uprooted pasty white trees, having been violently ripped right out of the ground and squashed against the earth as if a giant paw had squashed them, and most were facing the same direction, turning away from the sun-drown-place.
"I thought the roots of trees went on forever." Silver mewed, her eyes as wide as her mother's.
The gray-and-white queen remained as motionless as soon for many long heartbeats. Her daughter's voice was barely a whisper to her; only the soft feeling of her fur brushing against her own as she joined her side was effective enough to bring her back to the current moment.
"Come, we make for the camp." Pebblestream meowed after she had gathered her thoughts. Or what is left of it. she dared to think.
Making a sharp turn to their left, the she-cat's disturbing prediction was quickly confirmed. It was worse than she could have ever imagined. The healthy bushes lining the edges of the trenches, all were missing without a trace. The ground itself was as disturbed as the rest of the woodland, the grass torn out or buried under thick dried-up mud. The thorn tunnel too was destroyed, its branches scattered fox-lengths further than it had been. Crossing the land-bridge between the twin trenches and looking down into the narrow decline below, Pebblestream was shocked to discover that much of her former home was now underwater. A great pool sat at the center of the camp, stretching almost from edge to edge, guarded on all sides by the imposing rock wall, secured to the ground through tons of earth and stone, the only recognizable feature that had been spared.
Approaching the new water source, as murky as swamp juice, festering with mosquitos, littered with debris, and deep enough to swallow a cat whole if they ventured too far out, the she-cat narrowed her eyes at a patch of fur that was floating under a fallen branch, and they suddenly shot open at the realization that it was not a remnant of the prey-heap pile that she was looking at, but one of her own Clanmates. Luckily the fur was dirtied and the head was below water, rendering them unrecognizable to her.
"Silver," she meowed. "Come this way. It'll be safer for you to wait over here." The queen beckoned with her tail, wrapping it around the smaller silver she-cat and proceeded the guide her towards the right side of the camp. Although they had since abandoned them, she prayed to the spirits that the adolescent she-cat had not have been burdened by such a heart-stopping sight. After she had sat her down beside a fallen branch, one that was almost as thick as a very trunk, and told her to sit still, she turned away before preparing to wade out into the water. She would have made the trip around, but collapsed trees on both sides blockaded any chance of traversal.
"Where are you going?" Silver mewed. "Can I come too?"
"No, I said wait here, and don't look out into the water," Pebblestream snapped, her voice unusually venomous. "I'm going to investigate the dens that have not been flooded. I expect you to be waiting here by the time I get back."
An uncomfortable shiver was went coursing through the she-cat's body as she submerged her paws and legs into the sickly waters, forcing to keep herself afloat and her head as far away from the putrid smelling surface as she neared three tail-lengths from the shore. The mosquitos swarmed her like tiny pikes, but she paid little attention. She hoped she would not bump into another corpse on her way to the other side. At last she reached the stony shore, and clambered herself on top of a smooth stone, not bothering to shake out her pelt as she would soon be diving right back in anyway. The plump queen cautiously ascended the middle crag along the zigzagging trail, fully away of the consequences if she slipped off. As she approached each den she poked her head inside and gave them a thorough inspection. Every one was empty, a trend that would continue until she had reached near the peak of the summit.
Pebblestream carefully entered the massive hollow chamber. It was almost pitch dark - the majority of the glowing orange mushrooms that would have illuminated much of the place had been turn from their stems and tossed careless across the floor. Like the other rooms before, this one showed no signs of life, and the air was stale. As silent as a field mouse, the queen edged her way in the direction of the entrance to the Stonefang caverns, her wet paws occasionally squashing down on a prickly surface - the remnants of the elders' nests.
"It surely must be right here. It was right here, wasn't it?" she meowed frantically. Although she had only been in this room once before - back when she was a kit on a little mischievous adventure - she had the knowledge of the tunnel that stemmed through here, like the rest of her Clanmates. Now, the gaping hole had been sealed shut with rubble. This must be the wrong side. she assessed, and proceeded to investigate the right side of the room. Here the ground was uniformly smooth. No, she had been on the correct side before.
What if they're all trapped down there? This spine-shivering thought hit her greater than any wave from the sun-drown-place. Her head turned back towards the collapsed entryway. A groaning gust of air swished around the den, making the she-cat feel even more unnerved.
If they are, there is no hope of them, nothing that I can do. she thought helplessly. Perhaps some made it out into the forest beyond.

PEBBLESTREAM & SILVER
pebblestream | 41 phases | pretty gray-and-white she-cat with light gray spots, and green eyes.
silver | 7 phases | silver tabby she-cat with fluffy fur, and blue eyes.
current location: heading out of the old WispClan camp, traveling south | tags: Dawnmist
Pebblestream remerged from the still pool at the other end and took the time to thoroughly shake the water off her fur. At the very least, her drenched pelt had kept out the majority of the irritating bugs that had no called the former WispClan camp their home.
It's just not right. They don't belong here - it's as if they are mocking us. she frowned.
A scrap of silver fur lay ahead, collapsed against the sturdy frame of the maple branch. She was breathing softly as she slept - Pebblestream felt that little bit guilty as she prodded her with one paw, disturbing her from her peaceful slumber.
"We're leaving." the queen meowed.
"Already?" Silver mewed in a half-awake state, getting up and raising her rear as she stretched in the early morning sunshine.
"There's nothing for us here anymore." Pebblestream meowed blankly.
"Could they be in the forest somewhere?" Silver mewed, her activity having suddenly peaked up.
"That's what I am hoping for Silver. Follow me, out of the camp. We're going to take a look around, and like before, stay close to me." her mother meowed.
Silver let out a little sigh as she forced herself to keep moving. Her legs were stiff - laying down on all those rocks had not done her any favors in this respect - and she felt like she could fall right over and sleep for moons.
She's shaken, but not nearly as much as I had expected. Pebblestream thought to herself. It's perhaps a good thing then that she was raised away from the company of others. No cat her age deserves to be traumatized.
Crossing the land bridge and around the devastation that lay before them, the pair pushed their way into the forest deep. It seemed more alive now with the sounds of woodpeckers and rodents scurrying through the undergrowth and up the lengths of the trees echoing throughout what remained of the woodland. Mother and daughter continued their search for some time, almost up until the sun had reached the height in the sky.
We must be in the heart of the forest now, and still no signs of them. the older she-cat frustratingly thought to herself. Where to first then? The Training Hollow? The Spirit Tree? Past World's Wounds?
