howdy
working on the third clan to complete the ShadeClan + GorgeClan story
tentatively named RootClan but definitely not final. They live in a lightly wooded area north of both ShadeClan and GorgeClan

im currently working on MountainClan (its a little ambitious rn, think im gonna add on other clans afterward)
i have it posted on post-it clans, though im not done
maybe ill transfer it onto another page after, have some ideas for accompanying clans

ahh i just posted one of my clans up on post - it clans. i hope i did it right lol! i'm planning on adding a lot more to stormclan, plus i want to add the other two clans they border. i'm developing a world rn that i want all my future fics to take place in, and it's a whole lot of work that i'm doing very slowly lmao. i really love post-it clans, it's super helpful to be able to post a clan that's a work in progress, so i can look back on it and keep it a bit more organized than my very messy doc. plus it's super fun to read the clans others are creating!

The great thing is that it's easy to post wip's or try new things, see what direction they go, and it doesn't have to be perfect cuz if it doesn't hit the vibe you can just make another. ezpz

I guess it's just my philosophy that I like building new Clans to inspire other people to push limits of the format and show new possibilities! I want other people to steal my ideas haha

it's a secret but I actually do all that work to make Clans just to have an excuse to make more characters oops

StormClan is like. 40% done now. I do like making these generic Clans but typing them out feels like more work than for the fantasy/specialized ones? Perhaps because the landmarks are so cut and paste most the time haha. StormClan is like a cross between old forest ThunderClan and ShadowClan-- it's not meant to be anything special, just something people can cut and paste into their own worldbuilds if they need an extra Clan prebuilt for whatever setting they're working in.

What I REALLY need to do is immortalize the Fanfiction World Clans in there..... That project was super cool for the five months it existed back in 2017 haha I should probably etch it in clay before it is just another buried thread that I don't remember making.

looked over the old way I wrote territory over 6+ years ago and internally cringed. gonna have to rewrite EbbClan's territory. I keep debating if I should add legacies and lore to the clan as well since I didn't have it before.
like, I kinda thought their starclan could be connected to the ocean maybe? don't know if that's a good idea or not.

Several things:

I want to rewrite my old, first-ever fanfic from when I was really young, but can't seem to find the inspiration

I love using generators, they are fun to use and create some interesting thing to build off of, however I can never bring myself to complete a story on them 'cause there's a thought that nags my mind always saying "They aren't really yours, the generator created them and they don't below to you, you're being uncreative." Anyone no how to deal with this?

Also, circus clans, they live in a circus surrounded by a dark forest where a traveling group of strangers comes and preforms, sometimes taking cats with them. Any ideas for that?

On generators... I guess it depends on how much you take from them and how complete they are? Some of the ones I've seen are simple prompts where it still requires a lot of creative work on your side before the story is any good, and those are the ones I tend to like using. Hell, even my Clangen story, which is basically entirely generator prompted in a way, is well over 50% my original content; I stay true to the events as they come up, but the reasons for them and the way they go down is not always the cut-and-dry generator text... otherwise it would be boring to see the same fight every time for readers.

Perhaps find a generator that gives you only half an idea, which makes you come up with the other half. Another fun thing is to use two different generators and take half an idea from one, half an idea from another, and try and mesh them together in a satisfying way! Usually, this process forces you to make up an entirely new idea from the two disparate ones.

OH BOY circus groups. That brings up old memories! I got a small forum history lesson for ya: so when this board was still being conceptulized during the Fall of the Official Forums back in spring 2016, before it was this forum (which is supposed to be a spiritual successor to the old one) Tomo and a few other older members were going to make a more private forum for the older members of the community, because at that point, most of the "OG" members of the Official Forums had grown up with the series and were now all 18-21 and going into college and the like, and we were sick of the OG forum's censorship (anyone remember the lotion ban???). So there was some word floating around if a new forum was made, it would be more friendly to darker and more adult themes.

This doesn't end up happening, mostly because there was a huge surge in popularity to Tomo's server compared to the other "refuges" that other groups of forumers made, so it ended up being a true replacement forum once the old forums were closed for good and rules were put in place to make this forum friendly for younger members, which is great!

But I had already started planning a fic that had been in my head for a while now at that point: a very murder-y and gorey horror story where a circus group visits the Lake Clans and starts wreaking havoc. I actually still have the thread up somewhere, but there's only two chapters written because I ended up deciding such a fic had no place on these forums, even through dm, as I had no way to check people's ages outside of people I knew from the old forums and I didn't want to give that kind of content to kids. So it got scrapped. (THOUGH now that I use Ao3 a lot..... I might see if my plot notes are any good and try my hand at writing a little bit of it, at least a few scenes. I've never been good at horror genre stuff).

But yeah, a little forum history that idea made me suddenly remember haha

But what do you mean by canon remake? If you're simply typing out the canon world with no changes to canon, then probably not? But if you're making major changes or big AU then that totally belongs in Post-It!! (you can even edit your post there to put it up!!)

I would love to hear about your AU! Building on the established canon is one of the reasons warriors is so fun.

Making brand new clans feels kinda odd to me - like i'm populating this fictional Earth with way too many cats against its will, and somehow they all develop the same/similar social system + naming conventions n shiz as the cats in the book (Plus, as everybody knows, warrior cats as a concept could never ever work in a world similar to our own because HOW THE HECK TO PEOPLE NOT SEE ALL THOSE CATS!! But luckily the canon is there to suspend my belief because it makes sense in THAT world so it can make sense to me) - so I like to build completely new casts by developing the future of the canon clans. It is a LOT of fun making a timeline of changes in their culture that lead up to MY version of the clans!! It's like I have their whole world in my hands and im shaping it. Its great

I’ve run into a new idea I guess. I’m not sure if I should pause work on the current one I’ve been building on Post It Clans or not.

Basically, the new clan idea I have needs a name and I don’t want them to follow StarClan. I’m not sure if I should have them believe into something part of the culture where they’re based or something new. Kinda thought to go Roman, but eh.

the clan lives by a giant lake, there’s a large mountain range and mountain sides. It’s a dense forest along with waterfalls and a small valley. There’s also a cliff (rockslides and falling would be common here). I’m thinking they may live in caves not too far from the lake shore.

I thought of including twolegs but I don’t know if it’s a good idea? Do I split it into 2 clans?
