Sunclaw with Lynxspots, Ivyshine, Larchember, and Flutterpaw Echo Ravine, headed to Owlclan border @ Tealraven , Sand , Yacinthe , @certifiedhoodclassic
"We could, if we finish the Owlclan one quickly," Sunclaw acknowledged Larchember's suggestion, nodding briskly as he started back up towards the border, not running flat out now. Flutterpaw was now fully grown, at least physically, so no small apprentice paws should hold them back from both. "It would save the rest of the clan a second trip down the mountain." Actually, that would be very convenient - he wouldn't have to go out of his way to perform some useless task for days, if he led an efficient patrol that secured both borders. Perfect.
While he was rubbing Ivyshine's face in dung he felt practically inspired to mentor and lead like a good little warrior. As the patrol neared the end of Echo Ravine he turned around for his apprentice. "Flutterpaw, when we get to the border, see if you can identify which scents come from the Owl night warriors, and if you can do so without leaving cover, I'll be very impressed."

Ivyshine accompanied by Sunclaw, Lynxspots, Larchember & Flutterpaw | OwlClan border
Ivyshine was impressed by Larchember's suggestion. It wasn't a bad idea at all. The clan could save time and energy if the five of them did both borders in one trip. She padded carefully after Sunclaw, glancing over her shoulder from time to time. She wondered how Flutterpaw was taking this patrol, considering her very arrogant mentor was a featherbrain. "Larchember is right. We should hit both borders while we're out today," she agreed while her whiskers twitched, despite having to stick with Sunclaw for a long amount of time. She hoped something would lead him astray and the rest could finish the patrol together without any issues.
Show off. He thinks he's the perfect little warrior, doesn't he? The fluffy warrior was stuck in her thoughts, rolling her blue eyes as he instructed Flutterpaw to identify scents from OwlClan's night warriors. How haughty could the golden tomcat get? He was already stretching her temper thin which was unlike Ivyshine. She didn't have spats too often, but Sunclaw must have found a way to get to her. She had plenty of words to say back to him, but she simply wasn't using them. Yet.
If Flutterpaw could pull off Sunclaw's request, it would be great for her. For Sunclaw, it would be a reason to brag and rub it in other mentors' faces. Whether the apprentice succeeded or not, she preferred to watch Sunclaw fall flat on his face in fox dung. Now that would be satisfying.
"I think the rest of us can start marking the border," Ivyshine proposed as her tail and whiskers twitched. "Sunclaw can do his training with Flutterpaw in the meantime. We need to secure the border."

Flutterpaw at the end of Echo Ravine, heading to OwlClan border with Sunclaw, Lynxspots, Ivyshine, & Larchember Tiri || Tealraven || Sand || Yacinthe
“Both borders? That sounds great to me!” Flutterpaw mewed at Larchember’s suggestion. It made sense for them to do both borders in one trip. They would be saving the Clan’s time by doing so. It also meant they would probably be out for much longer. I won’t have to be looking for new bedding or taking out the elders’ ticks! Perfect! Perhaps she could even learn a thing or two from Sunclaw.
Reaching the end of Echo Ravine, Sunclaw turned to instruct something to Flutterpaw. “Flutterpaw, when we get to the border, see if you can identify which scents come from the Owl night warriors, and if you can do so without leaving cover, I'll be very impressed.”
“You bet I will. I got it all covered!” the black and white she-cat exclaimed. Finally! I have a chance to do something!

LYNXSPOTS owlclan border / with sunclaw, ivyshine, larchember & flutterpaw "Both borders?" Lynxspots echoed. He wasn't thrilled at the idea of spending any more time with this group of cats than was necessary. The longer they stayed out the more likely it seemed that something would go wrong. He wasn't sure why he felt that way; so far CrowClan had stayed neutral in the other Clans' affairs, playing the passive observer as resentment grew on either side of their borders. There was no reason to think this border patrol could end badly.
But it seemed he was outvoted. Determined not to back down, Lynxspots said, "Alright, sure. Why not." Flutterpaw scampered past him, eager to join her mentor. He smirked. If she thought staying out longer meant getting out of apprentice chores, she was probably wrong; he knew from experience.
Lynxspots dipped his head deferentially to Sunclaw before turning and following Ivyshine across the open stretch of grass. Without thinking, he flicked his tail out to touch Larchember's shoulder, seeking reassurance, as he often did when the pair were together. Being out here in the open made them vulnerable. He didn't like to think that OwlClan eyes could be watching them from the shadows of the trees on the other side of the clearing.
Suppressing an involuntary shiver, he quickly stepped up to the invisible line separating CrowClan from OwlClan and left a marker. One down.

Sunclaw with Lynxspots, Ivyshine, Larchember, and Flutterpaw Owlclan/Crowclan border @ Tealraven , Sand , Yacinthe , @certifiedhoodclassic
He suppressed a humrph, watching Ivyshine waltz the rest of the patrol right up to the scent markers out in the open. If she wanted to do it that way, fine. That was their choice. Personally, he'd thought his plan to have one cat out in the open and the rest hidden would've been a good one, especially here, on the border where a warrior had recently died, but whatever, he'd tried, he wouldn't take the fall for it if it went wrong. He did wave Flutterpaw into cover, though. She was his apprentice, his responsibility, and if anything happened to her, his problem. Besides despite everything the little she-cat had managed to grow on him, like a tick in an elder's fur or something, always happy to see him and excited to do things.
But she was getting bigger, and she always wanted to achieve things on her own. "Very good," he meowed to her, and backed off. Sunclaw left Flutterpaw to trot to the front of the group and lay the next marker, one of his ears twitching back to keep her in hearing.
