"I-I understand." Dr. Benzedrine was worried now. Not like he hasn't been, but like extra worried now. What if he wasn't the same Card Trick that was so nice and kind, yet a vicious protector of those he loves? What if he isn't even half the man he used to be? What if that all changes? Benzedrine shook his head to rid his mind of those thoughts, instead focusing on Kobra Kid as he finally removed his helmet and set it next to Grace. He was slightly sweaty, and panting only a little, and Benzedrine guessed it was the heat that made him take it off. But damn this man looked good. Benzedrine sighed and looked back down at Trick, now wondering what his group would do without this guy. Even though it seemed like Benzedrine was the leader, he really wasn't. It was this little dude that kept everyone from going insane. Well, for now, they have the Killjoys and these others to prevent anyone else from getting hurt or accidentally ghosted.

Martha gave a little nod, glad that he did. A lot of people got worked up when she told them things like that, but it was the hard truth. Most likely, the two of them would be fine, but she said none of that out loud as she made her way over to Grace and sat down next to her, beginning to check her over too. When she was done, she informed, "All of her basic functions are in order. She should be good too, eventually." She ran a hand over the girl's hair, a bit of mother appearing in her before she straightened up one more.

Eventually. Kobra Kid let out a sigh of relief as he scratched the back of his neck. They didn't have all the time in the world, but that didn't mean they couldn't wait. Jet Star set a hand on Kobra's back as he sat next to the other, a more sullen expression coming over his face as he looked up to Martha. "I just hope she isn't emotionally damaged..." Jet said, Kobra hissed at him to shut up. He didn't want to have to worry about more. Or anybody for that matter. They already had enough on their plate. Party Poison shook his head, looking at Jet with furrowed eyebrows and a worried look on his face. Kobra, noticing this, glared at Jet before shrugged his red jacket off and tying it around his waist, exposing a dirtied yellow shirt-muscle shirt (kind of a mix between the two) with black stripes slashing down violently contrasting the yellow. He sighed again, pulling his hair back over his head so it was out of his face, but to no avail. It just fell off and hung there like a defiant fringe over his eyes.

"Well, if she shows any signs of emotional trauma, The Doctor can always bring her back to me," Martha said, giving the Time Lord a meaningful look, to which he simply gave a shrug. She knew that he would at a moment's notice, even if he acted all nonchalant about it when she suggested it. Even so, they didn't know if they'd need it yet. Maybe she'd be fine.

Jet Star bit his lip ."She's strong. Stronger than most kids from Before. Even though she's ten, she's seen more than most of the rebels besides us have. It'll probably, hopefully even, be more on the mild side if it does strike her." He said, looking up at Martha as he said that. He hoped what he was saying wouldn't come off as rude or... mean. I guess is the word. Like one of those bosses who forces you to work even though you're throwing up because 'you're fine', or smething like that. No, he was trying to convey a different point, and he hoped that she got that.

"Hopefully," Martha replied, sighing, before looking to The Doctor and asking, "are you planning on sticking around here for a bit, or...?" The Time Lord shrugged one shoulder. "Yeah, as far as I know of," he replied nonchalantly glancing over her shoulder at the Killjoys. He didn't know if they had anywhere to be at, but he knew that they'd let him know if they did. They were a mouthy bunch.

Party Poison knew they were probably going to stay for the night, according to a conversation about sleeping arrangements earlier, but for right now he might go out for a late afternoon ride in his Trans-Am just to clear his mind and maybe ghost some Dracs in the process. They seemed to be quite on the prowl lately, even though it did weird him out that they were no where to be found in Battery City. Maybe they were all being distributed throughout the Zones. He didn't exactly know. He didn't think any rebel exactly knew.
"You guys staying?" Kobra Kid spoke up, looking towards the YoungBloods. The Prophet and Mr. Sandman shrugged, while Dr. Benzedrine rapidly nodded with wide eyes. Kobra cocked his eyebrows at his behaviour but again, people get really attached out here.

"Well, if everyone's fine staying, that gives me some time to check on some things, get some things done..." The Doctor mused slowly, eyes flickering between all of them. It was stressful, being the boss here, virtually, and being the actual President of everything on Gallifrey... but, he had to get it done somehow, and this gave him a chance to do a bit of something.

"Right, you can go do that, I'm going out for a minute, be back in around 20. Maybe 30." Party Poison said, Jet Star shooting him a funny look as Poison just waved him off, the jingling of keys ringing out in the smaller inside of the Diner as Poison exited out of the door and to his Trans-Am, kind of worried about this sudden need to get out for a little while. But oh well. He'll be going where there were little people, even Dracs, so he knew he'd be most likely fine there. But he never knows, so he made sure he got his rayguns and whatever before hopping into the trusty old car and zooming off into only he knows where.
"I hope he'll be alright." Kobra Kid whispered to himself, the YoungBloods shooting him a worried look, Dr. Benzedrine looking outside at the dust cloud at the infamous Trans-Am had left behind.

[[ sorry, it was my birthday so i poofed xD ]]
"He'll be fine," The Doctor sighed, stretching his arms above his head, shoulders popping, and he grimaced, "are any of you hungry? It's been a long day." He was hungry for sure, and for a moment he pondered if he should treat these guys, wait till Poison got back, and take them back in time to some sort of nice restaurant where they'd be able to order an actual meal. But, there was probably no getting them into normalish clothes, so... that was off the table.

(nah it's fine)
(happy late birthday!)
"Guessing since you guys are weird you have something that is infinitely better than Power Pup?" Kobra Kid asked, Jet Star letting out a laugh as Dr. Benzedrine recoiled in disgust. That poor excuse for dog food was really the only thing they could eat put here, they were lucky if they could find anything else edible.
"Please." Benzedrine said, looking out the window to the white BLI vending machine that held the hellish stuff. Even though they had some more stuff they kept for safekeeping, only to be eaten on special occasions, the YoungBloods still often found themselves eating Power Pup as there was just nothing else.

[[ thanks! ]]
"Ugh, yeah," The Doctor replied, wrinkling his nose. He went on food trips back in time and forwards (no spoilers though) in time, grabbing things for himself and his own friends. "We could eat here, or I could take you back in time and get some McDonald's or something. I should probably get Martha home too." He turned, winking at the woman, who just rolled her eyes. He looked back to the Killjoys and asked with a nonchalant shrug, "What do you want to eat?"

Kobra Kid smiled widely, glancing over at Jet Star who was doing the same. "As long as we get edible food, I really don't care where or when." It would be nice to go back in time, though. See the world before it went to Hell. Kobra wanted to see trees, and grass, and plants other than dried up desert plants and the occasional tumbleweed. He wanted to see the green other than Fun Ghoul's clothing. Jet wanted the same things as his friend did. Before was nice.
It was then that Mr. Sandman and the Prophet stood up, the jingling of their bike keys in their hands. "Sorry, but we kinda have to leave. The camp could have been ravaged. Bring back some food for us!" Prophet said, Kobra raising his eyebrow at their weirder behavior. Maybe it was the near-strangers, he didn't exactly know. They could be unsettling at times. But it was clear that whatever happened, Dr. Benzedrine was going to stay put. So Kobra, Jet, and Benzedrine waved goodbye to them as they took their bikes (leaving Benzedrine's near the Trans-Am) and took off into the horizon.
"Huh." Jet said, frowning a little bit at their almost-awkwardness but brushing it off as nothing more than distrust. It was the norm.

"Bye," The Doctor said simply, watching them go without moving, but then looking to the Killjoys and the one remaining Youngblood and saying, "I should get Martha home, and then I'll pop back for Poison, and we can get dinner, yeah?" It would just be him, them, and Ashildr, who had appeared in the door. Great. He didn't exactly like 'Me' all that much, in case that hadn't been made abundantly clear by the fact that he never talked to her other than to give her directions or to say things that needed to be said. So, without another word, he turned from the room, Martha following. It was a short trip and a hug back to England, and then another short trip back to the Diner, wherein The Doctor threw the front door of the box open and called, "Hey, Poison!"

Party Poison sat on the bonnet of the cooling down Trans-Am in a comfortable silence as he watched the late afternoon sun begin to dip below the horizon. One might say it was boring, but it's like those scenes in those cheesy romance movies where they just watch the sunset in a comfortable quiet. Poison just wished Fun Ghoul was with him at the moment to enjoy this as well. The other Zonerunners where doing who-knows-what in the Diner, probably trying to make light of the darker situation at hand.
At the call of his name, Poison's head whirled around to see the Doctor with his head out of the TARDIS calling for him. Poison felt himself smile as he waved at them and hopped off of the hood of his car and walked over there. "Yes?" He asked, wondering if this was for the food that Kobra Kid told him they were going to get. Man he was hungry for anything other than Power Pup.

"Want food?" The Doctor asked as he simultaneously disappeared back into the TARDIS with a flash of silver hair. He jogged back to the console, ducking around it, thinking. He wasn't too sure how he felt about riding these boys around, with what he'd seen them do, but he had to remind himself that he hadn't been that much different than them all that long ago. They were kids, boys, raised in a violent fight-or-die sort of environment. It was only natural. Well, no, not natural. No one was naturally like that. He knew that he hadn't been when he was a little boy.

(when i was a young boy)
Party Poison smiled even wider as he brushed his red hair out of his eyes and nodded. "Food? Oh hell yes." Anything other than Power Pup. "Where?" He asked, peeking his head inside the TARDIS and taking a quick look around at everything. It still amazed him, how this could be real. He was sure, if this fell into the hands of the BLI, it would be all over. They'd take over time and space because with this machine simply because they could. That thought sent a shiver down Poison's spine so he quickly shoved that thought aside. "And shall I go and grab the others?" He asked, looking right at the Doctor now.

[[ ]] "Anywhere you want. Go grab them," The Doctor replied with a little half-smile, fiddling lazily with some of the buttons that didn't really do anything. He had the monitor spun around so it was facing him, watching the med bay. All was well, from what he could see. Ashildr was there, sitting on the counter, typing lazily on her phone with her hair falling in her eyes. She'd told him to bring her a burger, to which he'd grunted and trudged back to the console room. He could only handle so much of Me in one day.

Party Poison nodded before jogging over to the Diner, throwing open the door and standing in the doorway. The conversation that the other Zonerunners were having ceased as they noticed the redhead enter, earning them a weird look from Poison before he spoke. "Were do you guys want to go?" He hoped they knew what he meant, and apparently they did, as the three broke out into a fit of whispers for a couple of moments, before looking at the now confused Poison.
"Diner?" Kobra Kid asked, gesturing to all of this Diner. "Like what this was Before." Kobra said, and Poison felt his smile widen as he nodded, remembering those quite clearly.
"Well, if you want to go, get up!" Poison said, feeling satisfaction well in his chest as he watched the Zonerunners get up and go and meet him by the door. "The crew staying here?" He asked them, them all nodding. Good, he thought. They could keep a good watch over this place wile they were gone.
They all exited out of the door and entered the TARDIS, Poison making sure his beloved Trans-Am wouldn't be stolen in the time they were gone as they took their positions on the ledge overlooking the console and waited to go.

"Diner?" The Doctor called as they came in, though he knew exactly what they had said. He had pretty good ears, damn good ears, you know, nonhuman ears. He watched them walk in from the corners of his eyes, beginning to pull levers and push buttons as the ship whirred to life. He did ten years back and a quick little location hop, since he'd actually been parked in the Diner, and then pulled the break, stilling in his dashing about as the ship squealed and wheezed around them.

"Oh yes! A diner! Sorry, forgot to say." Kobra Kid said, blushing only slightly at his blunder. He didn't know why exactly, he shouldn't be like this, but oh well. He was. And he was excited. Much like Jet Star, who was reliving his memories of these types of places. He had wanted to go back to Before, ad just keep going back until he died because f//k, he didn't want to see the Fires ever again. That was actually Hell. Dr. Benzedrine was just kinda freaking out, very ecstatic for what was about to happen. He wished Card Trick could see this as well.

"It's fine," The Doctor said, "we're here." He pulled the break down completely, the ship giving one final wheeze before stilling completely. The Doctor plucked his jacket from one of the banisters, pulling it on as he gestured to the door with his head, yelling up, "Come on then." And with that, he walked out the door, hands in his pockets

As his brother quickly debated whether to leave their rayguns here or not, a zillion questions ran through Kobra Kid's head. Like, such things as 'If they see my face.... will they recognize it and think 'oh my god I saw that guy like fifteen years ago in my diner what the heck'?' and 'will it be any good?' and 'will anyone notice our rayguns/clothing?' and other thoughts bounced around his head such as 'ASDFGHJKL' and 'oh my gOD' and... I think you get the point. He was beyond excited. His leg bounced up and down as he waited for the others to conclude something, which they indeed did.
"Right, just hide your rayguns." Party Poison said. "As this is Before, most likely, they'll think we're dressing up or something." Poison said as he took off his jacket and tied it around his waist, successfully covering up the yellow raygun on his hip. Jet Star did the same, Dr. Benzedrine hiding his holster in his belt. Kobra Kid just let it be, knowing that he already looked weird and the raygun did look like a toy.
With a 'come on' gesture, Poison led the Zonerunners down the stairs of the ledge, but before he could get one foot even out of the door Poison let out a loud gasp of surprise and felt tears well in his eyes as he saw what was no doubt Los Angeles or something from the perspective of someone from Before. No fires, no desert, Better Living Industries was just a pharmaceutical company, and everything was good and well. The warm smell of food drifted lazily past his nose, Poison smiling wider than he had ever before as he smelled as much of it as he could. He looked up to see a sign that read in bold lights, 'October 19th 2009' which sent even more chills down his spine. This was around ten years ago, which meant three years until everything went to Hell.
Kobra was feeling very emotional at this sight, Benzedrine as well, Jet running over and taking up the Doctor in a tight hug with whispers of 'thank you'. You couldn't blame them either. Nobody wanted their heads, they didn't really have to scavenge for whatever edible things they could find here, no scorching sun and painful desert, no Battery City, and no ghosting. Not as much emotional pain as well. Life was good Before.

The Doctor stiffened like a board as Jet wrapped his arms him. For a second, the Time Lord didn't know what to do with his own arms, letting them hang down at his sides before he carefully wrapped them around Jet's back and gave him a little pat. "Uh, you're welcome," he said simply, giving the man a squeeze before writhing his way out of his grasp. He didn't like hugs. This was definitely the same Diner that they used as their base, but in a completely different setting. Well, not really. It was in the same place, but not everything around it had been completely decimated to dust and sand. The Doctor popped back in time all the time, and forwards (once again, no spoilers), so it wasn't that jarring of a sight for him. But for these five, well, it must've been a shock. The Time Lord could kind of understand. Kind of. Not entirely, though.

As much as he wanted to run in and take everything he could get his hands on, Party Poison prevented himself from doing so as he looked towards the Doctor with an expression that clearly said, May I go in?, which didn't really do anything as he heard rapid footsteps echo out, and he whirled his head around to see Jet Star running right towards it and only slowing down to open the door and walk inside. Poison let out a laugh as he rolled his eyes and followed his enthusiastic friend, leading the other Zonerunners who were barely holding in their excitement through the same door.
They were all met with a delicious smell of cooking food, the sound of plates being dinged together with laughter and conversations, and the sight of a 50's like diner that really called back to the past. Everything was futuristic but screamed 1950's, right down to the waiters and waitress's uniforms. The sign in front of them said in bold white lettering, 'Seat yourself!' but before anyone could do anything, Poison shot a look at the others to see if they were going to enter as well.

The Doctor gave his eyes a mighty roll before striding forward and through the double doors. He glanced around, and then took a seat at a long table that would seat all six of them without a problem, picking up the menu that was laid neatly on the placemat and thumbing it open. This place had the basic diner cuisine, if you could call it that. Burgers, fries, sandwiches, salads that were probably pretty half-assed... The Doctor enjoyed this kind of food. This regeneration wasn't exactly the healthiest eater, so this was the kind of place he hopped into when he actually did feel like eating.

Smiles were abundant amongst the hungry rebels as they sat down (Party Poison sat next to Dr. Benzedrine, and Jet Star with Kobra Kid adjacent to them), each aching for something that was not in the least bit nasty. Their eyes which were as starving as their stomachs ate up the pictures and words describing the food, their minds getting used to that this was (hopefully) reality. That this, for some odd reason, was happening to them. And boy were they grateful.
As Poison read over the list of vegetarian options, his mind was brought back to Fun Ghoul and his 'trying my best to be vegetarian' ways. Which didn't really help, all they had to eat was Power Pup and some other nasty 'food' that was definitely not vegetarian in the slightest. So Poison bit his lip and looked up to the Doctor. "Uh, can we get something for Ghoulie, Grace, and... Card Trick?" He glanced over at Benzedrine for a moment, who was looking back at him. Biting his lip again, he looked back up at the Doctor for an answer.

"Yeah, sure," The Doctor shrugged, not looking up from his menu. It was then that one of the waitresses sauntered over. She was older, dressed in what was probably just known as 'diner garb.' "Hello," she crooned, smiling just a bit too long at The Doctor, and then looking to the younger men, "out for lunch with your... nephews?" The Doctor chuckled, and then replied, "Yeah, nephews." "That's sweet," she said, smiling as she continued, "and what would you like to drink?" "Water, for me," The Doctor said simply, folding his hand on top of his open menu.

Kobra Kid was trying his best not to chuckle in the slightest as the waitress asked if they were nephews of the old man, and apparently his iron poker face did a very good job as the waitress didn't suspect a thing from him. Not so much the other three though, as they were all trying desperately not to laugh as they hid their faces as discreetly as possible behind their menus. But they all knew what they wanted besides food.
"Water for the four of us." Kobra said, gesturing to the four Zonerunners while using his other hand to try and fold his defiant fringe back over his head, but once again failing to be successful at this action.

"Alrighty," she replied with a smile, apparently not noticing anything off as she jotted that all down and turned to walk back to the little bar where she could fill up the water glasses. The Doctor, meanwhile, picked his menu back up again and said, "I don't think any of you look or sound anything like nephews of mine." He was Scottish, they were American. He was curly haired and pasty, they were all pasty, but all had flatiron straightened looking hair. But, hey, if she wanted to think they were his nephews, she could go ahead.
