Q9: My absolute favorite is a discontinued juice called Strawberry Breeze, by I also like grape and apple. Q10: My dad lived one time zone behind my mom so one time when I was flying from his back to my house I got to see day and night at the same time. It was pretty cool.

How dedicated I can be to the people I love. It just seems like real loyalty and keeping your word are undervalued these days, and I pride myself on it. To me it's a matter of my honor to do what I say I will and do my best for the people that I care about. Feeling like I failed doing it makes me feel the worst and I think someone failing to carry out a promise or being disloyal is about the worst kind of personal character.

Forever. I'm notably good at keeping secrets. One of my specialties.

I have a garbage memory, so I'll probably forget the secret itself within the week.

For some reason I thought I'd already posted on this thread, but evidently I have not. Perhaps I answered one of the questions in my head but forgot to write it down ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯ Anyway, to get caught up... question one I think most of my pet peeves are pretty common. As for something that wouldn't bother other people... probably historically inaccurate clothing/hair and modern gender norms in a story that is trying to be historically accurate.
question two I haven't, but I'm planning to try my hand at gardening this spring/summer! Gonna plant some sunflowers along the fence and put some new trees in the backyard to create more of a privacy screen btwn us and the new house that's being built.
question three I... honestly can't come up with anything. When I try something I think I won't like I'm usually right.
question four A lot of my favorite fictional characters are unpopular within the fandom they're from. Sera from Dragon Age and Glimmer from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, for example.
question five Sensitive to bright lights, so generally not a fan of artificial light.
question six Well, I seem to have accumulated a lot of NASA and space-themed articles of clothing. I also enjoy wearing silly socks with fun colors and patterns on them!
question seven Uhhh I managed to qualify for the state spelling bee twice but chose not to go the second time. I've also won awards for my art at the county fair - couple of first places and a best in division ribbon.
question eight nope
question nine apple juice, hands down.
question ten Phantom of the Opera live on Broadway <3 Also the fireworks in Washington DC on the 4th of July were pretty incredible.
question eleven Physically? I like my hair and my freckles. Otherwise... I like that I go out of my way to help others, be kind, and make sure people feel included and loved. That's important to me.
question twelve If it's not a serious/life-threatening secret? Probably forever, since I'll probably forget about it the next day lol

I'd like to say never but I've realized I've been told things that I guess were supposed to be secret but I'm pretty dumb and unlesss someone explicitly tells me that it is a secret not to tell anyone, I end up talking about it- even if it's just to my roommate or a counselor. People outside of the situation who don't even know the person I'm talking about, basically so it's not like I'm blackmailing them or going to get them caught or whatever. This has gotten me in some amount of trouble before though, but I just don't pick up on that kind of nuance to what is and isn't a secret or intended as one.
But if someone does tell me specifically that it is a secret then I do try keep my mouth shut or just deflect questions with "I don't know." or "I can't say."

QOTD 13:
Do you have any good luck charms?
|
|
|
Post by Ivyfalcon on May 3, 2022 21:12:00 GMT -5
Hello! I’ve been wanting to answer these but haven’t had the time to get caught up until now. 1. What is something that wouldn't bother most people that causes you to feel angry? Pretty much anything bad/negative about birds, mainly because of people being rude to me in the past. Also, just inaccuracies with things I know a lot about, for example when they show Bald Eagles in TV, movies, etc. they generally use a Red-tailed Hawk call rather than an actual eagle call and it bugs me.
2. Have you ever grown a plant? What kind of plant was it, and if you haven't grown any, which ones would you want to grow? I’ve had several plants, but I’m honestly not super great at remembering to water them, so right now I pretty much just have a saguaro cactus.
3. What is something you thought you'd hate until you tried it? I generally avoid trying things that I think I’d hate, as I’m super picky so I’m usually right, but guacamole wasn’t as bad as I thought I guess, I still don’t really eat it but if I had to I’d be okay with it.
4. What's something that's unpopular that you actually like? I mean, pretty much all of my hobbies are pretty unpopular among my peers, I’d say. Sometimes I like to joke that I have the hobbies of a retired person. They’re not really unpopular though, just somewhat unusual for my age, for example, birding, playing solitaire, coin/paper money collecting, and model plane collecting.
5. What is your favourite source of artificial light? Honestly I keep the lights off if it’s daytime and not too cloudy for the most part, unless I’m needing to see something better, like for reading or drawing. I strongly prefer the lights at home to anywhere else in public though because my lights are just less harsh, whereas I often think other artificial lights are.
6. Do you have any collections? Yeah, a ton. As mentioned in #4, I have a currency collection, in which I mainly collect U.S. coins (like one from each year of specific types, any silver coins, and any errors), world coins/banknotes from each country (I have the vast majority of countries’ coins, less for banknotes), and any coins with birds on them. I also collect anything aviation-related: I have several model planes (and am planning to get more fairly soon), several plane books, all of my old boarding passes, some airplane safety cards, and a couple more things I just ordered. I have a pretty big 4+ leaf clover collection too, as I have hundreds, maybe even around a thousand, 4-leafs, around 25ish 5-leafs, a few 6-leafs, and a 7-leaf. Finally, I collect lots of bird-related things, as I have around 200 books about birds, hundreds of bird stuffed animals (I especially collect the Audubon ones that make sounds), and many paintings/posters/statues/other decorative bird things. I tend to just obsessively collect things relating to my interests.
7. Have you ever placed in a contest? My high school marching band placed high in/won many contests, but that obviously wasn’t just me. Most things I’ve done that could be considered contests weren’t really the kind where there was just one winner, but I’ve gotten the top score (it was on I think a 1-5 scale) on a band solo before. Also, if you count scholarships as a contest, then I guess I’ve won some of those. I guess valedictorian could also be considered a GPA contest, and I was that, but I don’t think I’ve ever really won like “first place” in a real contest like that (unless I’m forgetting).
8. Do you know a secret family recipe? No, I’m terrible at cooking and no one in my family (as in parents and grandparents) really cares for it much either, so I don’t think we really have any family recipes.
9. What is your favourite juice flavour? I really don’t drink anything but water and milk regularly, but I enjoy orange juice on rare occasions when I get it. I do like most fruits (and therefore most juices) though.
10. What's the most amazing thing you've ever seen in your life? Probably getting to see several wild birds in Australia that I only could’ve ever dreamed of seeing before, or saw in captivity, such as kookaburras, lorikeets, and penguins.
11. What's something you like about yourself? My intelligence, I guess, as it’s generally the only thing I ever get praised for. Also, my passion and willingness to stand up for what I believe in, especially when it comes to birds.
12. What's the longest you can keep a secret? I’d keep a secret forever for the people I care about most (of course as long as keeping it wasn’t dangerous for anyone).
13. Do you have any good luck charms? I don’t really believe in objects giving me good luck or anything, but I keep my 7-leaf clover with me generally because I think it’s cool and finding it was lucky since they’re obviously not common. Additionally, I have a favorite shirt which I had been wearing during many of the greatest days of my life, but I don’t think it’s lucky or anything because I had preplanned it most of those times (like I knew the days would be significant for me, even though they generally turned out even better than I had been hoping, so I wore it), and it wasn’t at all special to me before I just happened to be wearing it on one special day. At this point I just keep wearing it when I’m anticipating good things because wearing it is associated with so many good memories to me, but I know it’s not luck since I set it up that way.

Not really good luck charms, but I've carried around various items throughout my life for security. First it was my baby blanky, then a stuffed rabbit, then it was a big rainbow slinky, when it stopped being seen as "acceptable" for someone my age to carry a comfort item/fidget I started wearing capes or this heavy leather jacket my ex gave me. I've also rotated through multiple necklaces & rings as a subtler fidget. Sometimes I carry some of my rocks in my pocket, but i've never seen them as being "good luck". Unless luck means staving off anxiety.
