[ ^^^^^ very true, and it does make the most sense for them to bump into song and pancake
Oh also!! So I wanna keep this rp small, I was thinking five members at the most, and we’re at four right now, do y’all wanna keep it open a bit longer to see if somebody else pops in or y’all think we’re good to close now? I’m down for whatever, but I do think we have a nice group going so far c: ]

CINDERFALL prairieclan territory / with pronghornstar, cherrypaw, mintpatch, songdapple & pancake Cinderfall could feel strength returning to his battered body the more he walked as his muscles remembered how to move in tandem. It was temporary, fueled by adrenaline, and he could tell it wouldn't be long before exhaustion overwhelmed him once more. Fatigue dragged at his paws with every step. Somehow he managed to keep moving.
A small voice drew his attention. He had to strain to make out the words. His gaze fell upon Cherrypaw and his heart softened. He wanted to reach out and give the smaller tom a reassuring touch on the head, as he had often done with Wheatpaw, but the apprentice was just beyond his reach. He settled for resting his tail lightly, briefly, on Cherrypaw's shoulder as they walked. "Thank you, Cherrypaw. You've been so brave. I am glad you're here with us," he murmured, and meant it.
Cinderfall, himself a rather quiet cat, didn't mind a comfortable silence. But this, the silence that settled over their ragtag group now, was anything but. It was an empty silence, desolate, full of holes. There was no birdsong. No breeze stirring the prairie grass. Just the sound of their own breathing and their paws trudging through the dust. It made his skin crawl. He wished someone would say something.
A flicker of movement up ahead caught his eye and he lifted his head. "Is that...?" He focused on two cat-shaped figures in the middle distance, headed their way. He squinted, trying to place a name to the tortoiseshell coat. His thoughts were unhelpfully muddled. "Oh. Oh! Songdapple!" He called out, recognition dawning on his face. But who was with her? The other tom's scent wasn't familiar, and his pelt didn't match that of any of their missing Clanmates. Subconsciously, Cinderfall straightened, no longer leaning on Pronghornstar for support. He watched alertly as the other felines approached.

- - - yooo~ - - - Indigothorn PrairieClan Camp -- very. very. alone.
They split up. For a moment, Indigothorn just... wandered. He flicked a paw over a shiny bit of metal, admiring the way it sparkled, a little star born of this destruction, until it flashed in his eyes and he backed away with a startled jump, blinking the spots from his eyes. He investigated the nearby medicine cat tunnel and the surrounding area, nominally to search for Sagepaw, though the grey tom figured that the others would have spotted her by now if she'd been so close to where they'd gathered.
He followed his nose, though everything was fogged with the smell of heavy rain, churned mud, and broken grass stems as well as more unsavory odors that were beginning to rise from the muck: death, blood, chemicals from the twoleg trash that burned his throat with their overpowering scent when he got too close to a rainbow-colored puddle. Indigothorn gave that a wide berth as he pressed onward.
He'd known the path Mintpatch had taken and avoided double checking her path, remembering the dead Clanmates she'd listed. Rainpaw. Instead, he forged the opposite direction, away from where Pronghornstar had taken the others. It wasn't long before he stumbled upon his first corpse: Toadpool, a senior warrior, his brown fur pressed beneath a heavy sheet of metal that Indigothorn couldn't move by himself. He did throw his shoulder under it when he first saw the patch of fur, the hot metal searing pain into the cuts on his shoulders, but even as he managed to wriggle his broad frame under the metal, he'd know the senior warrior was long since dead.
Indigothorn backed out from under the metal, his fur static and spiked from rubbing up against it, and hissed his frustration. "Sagepaw!" he yowled, redirecting his anger into volume. He could only hope the apprentice was alive to hear; she hadn't been with her siblings or with Mudfeather, so perhaps she had found somewhere safe to weather the storm. Indigothorn hopped on top of the sheet of metal, his claws scraping against it as he struggled to keep his footing on the slippery, hot material. From his new vantage, he could at least see above the grasses and into the knotted clearing. He could also see Rainpaw--
"Sagepaw!" he called again, pulling his eyes away. "Please," he added, quietly, tail lashing, feeling a dull satisfaction from the way the metal was uncomfortably hot under his pawpads. "There can't just be six of us left." Indigothorn was talking to himself now as he watched the grasses for movement, a tight malignant ache in his stomach, a hole where good memories hid away. "Sagepaw!"

»»————- ★ ————-«« Songdapple PrairieClan Camp With Pancake, Pronghornstar, Mintpatch, Cinderfall, and Cherrypaw (Feathertalon - Tealraven - Brownie ) Trekking onwards towards the PrairieClan camp, Songdapple could faintly smell her Clanmates' scent. She was getting close.
That's when she heard her name. It was Cinderfall.
"Cinderfall?" Songdapple meowed quietly as she slipped into the camp. It really was her Clanmates. Songdapple was shocked at how little of them were left. She looked over and saw Duskbramble running towards the group.
"Oh, you found her," He meowed with exhaustion, the dusty gray tom stood tall.
Songdapple smiled. "Is everyone okay?" She asked, looking around at what was left of her Clan. "Is this all that's left?" Songdapple was sure that there were a few cats missing, right? She had known that there wouldn't be many left, why did this come as a shock to her?
She had found them at last, but there was still a hollow, empty feeling inside.

After some time of walking, the small group was starting to head out of the worst of the debris. The camp had gotten hit the worst from the looks of it, which was sad when Pronghornstar took in the sights of everything else around her. The territory was an absolute mess, metal flung here and there, trees fallen and piles of earth torn from the ground. The brown tabby couldn't imagine how hard it would be to work around all this damage. Would they even be able to clear out their own territory, or would it be stuck like this forever? It was a hard thought to swallow, and the question only opened up pathways to ideas that worried the leader even more. If they couldn't clean up their home, could PrairieClan even still live here?
These thoughts were luckily chased away when Cinderfall called out the name of a Clanmate Pronghornstar had yet to know the status of.
A wide grin split the face of Pronghornstar. Without thinking she sprang forward, getting closer to the tortoiseshell warrior that had appeared through the clear path. "Songdapple, oh, it's so good to see that you're okay," the leader breathed, relief washing over her, easing a ton of weight off her shoulders.
The relief, however, was soon replaced with the weight of apprehension when she noticed the cream colored tom standing nearby. The molly had never seen him before. He didn't appear aggressive, and Songdapple didn't seem startled that there was an unfamiliar cat alongside her. Pronghornstar narrowed her eyes, an itch of defensiveness washing over her. Instinct had her fur bristling, her claws itching to unsheathe, but she swallowed the urge to defend herself and her Clanmates down. Right now they were in no shape to engage in battle, and as Pronghornstar glanced back toward Songdapple, she noticed the scarlet-stained cobweb pressed tightly on the molly's leg.
Voice coming out a bit more tense than she had wanted, Pronghornstar asked, "And who is this?"
The tom jumped, looking a bit startled that he had been dragged into the conversation. He quickly leaned his head down to give his chest a few licks before answering, "Name's Pancake. I helped Songdapple out here. I'm assuming you're her Clanmates," he observed, voice level with only the faintest hints of embarrassment lacing in his words.

- - - Poor Mintpatch is trying but my girl needs at LEAST a nap first <3 - - - Mintpatch PrairieClan -- Pronghornstar, Cherrypaw, Cinderfall, Songdapple, Pancake, Duskbramble
She looked up at Songdapple's voice, though while Pronghornstar leapt off to meet the tortoiseshell warrior, Mintpatch took the pause to sit and rest beside Cherrypaw. "Songdapple, oh, it's so good to see that you're okay." Echoed Pronghornstar's voice from across the distance. Mintpatch had to strain her ears to catch the response of the cream tom, apparently called Pancake. What's a loner doing this close to the path of the storm? Mintpatch wondered, her eyes narrowed.
He hadn't harmed Songdapple, which would have to be enough for now. Mintpatch let out a deep breath and closed her eyes to the scene, gathering her strength. When she opened them a few heartbeats later, she felt more stable and instead turned to Cherrypaw. "See," Mintpatch said to the small tomcat, wishing she could be more comforting, wishing she could do something more to pull the emptiness from his glassy eyes. "PrairieClan is strong. They'll find Sagepaw too." She put all the confidence she could into that simple statement, and hoped that was enough to make her believe it too.
Sagepaw had been overlooking Mintpatch's illness when Mudfeather was busy, and she'd taken a liking to the little molly. She might trip over her own paws more times than not, but her heart was always in the right place; not only would losing her mean losing their last medicine cat, it wouldn't be fair for the storm to end a life with that much pure kindness and potential. Between the little molly's resourcefulness and StarClan's blessings, Mintpatch hoped she'd found somewhere to weather the storm and, like her brother Cherrypaw had been, was merely frightened and needed to be found.
So she smiled and though she didn't go so far as to touch Cherrypaw, not wanting to overstep boundaries in the apprentice's shocked state, she did fall into a soothing purr and stayed close by while the others conversed with Songdapple and the odd loner, Pancake.

Each pawstep was met with flashes of terror. Each breath shook with panic. In his mind all he could see was the darkness that lay upon them like a blanket of death. All he could hear was the roar of the tornado as it tore through camp, shaking everything to its very core. All he could feel was the panic that flared through him. He had jumped in front of Hollypaw, his last sight of her being that of something large being tossed right toward them. They had been talking casually right before the storm had gotten bad, Hollypaw suggesting that they go and visit with Sagepaw once they had completed their training that day. Cherrypaw had agreed, excited to do something with both of his sisters later that day. Then came the storm. And now Cherrypaw very well could be the last surviving kit from his litter.
Misery washed over him all the while worry sank its talons into his bruised body. Hollypaw was dead. Sagepaw was missing. If they were both dead…if something had happened to both of them… Cherrypaw stumbled over his paws, barely managing to steady himself. Even if he was barely able to compute anything around him, he realized that he needed to keep up with the group. The others had more cats to worry about, cats who were ill and injured. He didn’t need to give them any more reason to be concerned.
’They’ll find Sagepaw, too’.
The voice was familiar. Cherrypaw’s ears twitched, the only sign given that Mintpatch had been acknowledged. He stopped in his tracks when he heard more mumuring around him, voices high in reassurance. A missing Clanmate must have been discovered alive, yet Cherrypaw knew it wasn’t Sagepaw. If it had been then she would have immediately come to his side, or he would have instantly recognized the comforting cadence of her voice. Cherrypaw had received neither of those.
Deflating even more, his body feeling small and his mind weak, he hunkered down near the ground, body bunched together and pulling in on himself as if seeking out warmth. Nearby was the rumbling of Mintpatch’s purr, the elder nearby, Cherrypaw could feel the molly’s body heat against his ginger fur. He remained silent, so did Mintpatch, but just her silent closeness was soothing to the young tom, just her being there with such a calm aura keeping him from falling off the metaphorical cliff into the sea of depression that crashed below.

CINDERFALL prairieclan territory / with pronghornstar & co, songdapple, & pancake Cinderfall was doing a pretty good job of not blacking out, all things considered. Standing unaided on his wounded shoulder for the first time that day, white-hot pain arced through the broken bone, spotting his vision. He managed not to sway too noticeably on his feet. His jaw was rigid and he favored his front left leg, but other than that, there were no visible indications of the level of discomfort he was in. His pride wouldn't allow him to appear weakened in front of the stranger - it would make for a poor first impression if the tom had never met a Clan cat before.
He fixed his flinty gaze on the newcomer. Pancake. His whiskers twitched. What sort of name is that? A kittypet's? The tom wore no collar, but it was hard to imagine a loner or a rogue with such a silly name. Whatever he was, Pancake didn't appear to be a threat. He looked more like he wished he could sink through the ground and disappear; he kept shifting uncomfortably under Pronghornstar's eyes, avoiding her fierce glare.
"Songdapple," Cinderfall mewed, "is it true? This, uh... Pancake helped you?" The blood-soaked cobwebs plastered to her wound did not escape his notice. His eyes glinted with worry. Is she alright? Did any of us escape this disaster unscathed?
SAGEPAW prairieclan camp / with indigothorn "Sagepaw!" A voice cut through the silence. The stench of death hung wetly in the still air, fetid, organic. A fly buzzed somewhere nearby. Nothing moved. The little apprentice stared at the ground, eyes blank. "Sagepaw!" The voice came again, and this time, she knew she hadn't imagined it. Her head snapped up. Yes, there was definitely someone else here, though their words were faint, as if coming from far over the plains. She didn't catch the rest of that sentence, but she heard her name a third time, edged with desperation.
"I-Indigothorn?" She called softly. Sagepaw stood and watched with wide, grey-green eyes as the dark grey tom stumbled toward her. She hadn't smelled him right away because his scent had been drowned out by the overwhelming odor of death and twoleg chemicals spilled across the ground. She stood, hope flaring in her chest and across her face. Her smile was a brilliant sunrise. "Indigothorn! It is you!" She scrambled over a sheet of metal to meet him halfway. Skirting a dark, malevolent-looking pool of something, she threw herself into the tom's side.
"Indigothorn, where is everybody?" She asked, tilting her head back and looking up and up at him. "Did... did anyone survive? Maybe they escaped in time? And made it safely out of camp?" She added hopefully, her mew bright.

- - - . - - - Indigothorn PrairieClan Camp -- Sagepaw
From his perch on the metal, he finally spotted movement. There, on the hill, a patch of orange bright against the grasses. Indigothorn took a sharp breath, narrowing his eyes against the sun for a moment to make sure what he saw was real, that it wasn't just his tired imagination, but it moved again and it was a cat, a small cat: Sagepaw! She'd heard!
He leapt from the metal, jarring his shoulders with the reckless motion, but he ignored the ache and shot forward in the direction he'd seen Sagepaw. "Sagepaw!" he called once more, for good measure. He stumbled into a clearing of shorter grass and there she was, across the field of debris, looking ruffled but uninjured.
"Indigothorn! It is you!" she said with a wide smile, darting across the clearing to meet him, colliding into his side with all the force a determined apprentice-sized cat could. He took the impact in stride, though a bit startled from her quick movements and bubbling emotion, particularly after the somber affairs that morning. It was like looking into the sun after a day of rain, and with that simple contact, Sagepaw brought forth Indigothorn's own repressed feelings, shaking him like he was floating on a log in water. "Indigothorn, where is everybody?" Sagepaw asked, grounding him.
He looked down at the apprentice, who had taken a step away. "Did... did anyone survive?" Her voice caught for a moment, but then lit with a smile again, hopeful. "Maybe they escaped in time? And made it safely out of camp?"
Indigothorn didn't have it in him to let her down so harshly and promised he'd never take the apprentice any closer to the ruined camp. But it wasn't as if she was too young to realize what had happened, however much optimism still lived in her heart. "A lot of cats died," he admitted, trying to be as gentle as he could with the words. The grey warrior crouched lower so he was eye level with the apprentice. "But a few managed to escape. Like you, and me, and Cherrypaw." He knew the question of Hollypaw would be next, but he pushed on with the list of survivors, hoping that might soften the blow. "Pronghornstar is there, with Duskbramble and Cinderfall and Mintpatch. We're supposed to meet them, after I found you."
Speaking the list out loud made it sound smaller and the omitted names pushed loudly in Indigothorn's ears. He wanted to tell Sagepaw that everything would be okay, but that wasn't true. Instead he ended softly with: "we're survivors, Sagepaw."

SAGEPAW prairieclan camp / with indigothorn "Oh," she said softly, her eyes dimming for a moment. She wondered how many of those cats had died because she hadn't been there to help them. She lifted her head at the mention of survivors. "Oh! Cherrypaw's okay? And Pronghornstar and Mintpatch and the others?" She brightened. "So they did make it out! That's great news!"
Sagepaw scampered past him, eager to be reunited with her Clan and with her siblings. "C'mon, let's go! We need to help them!" She skidded down the sheet of metal, took a few steps forward, paused, and looked around hesitantly. So much of the ground was covered in detritus whipped up by the tornado. The dens had been blasted apart. The corpses of freshkill hung like ghoulish decorations from the three trees marking the edge of the camp. Everything she had known her entire life, ripped to shreds in an afternoon. It was disorienting and more than a little nauseating. Focus, Sagepaw. Your Clanmates need you!
"Indigothorn, I need to get into the medicine den." She said, as if it were the simplest thing in the world. Only, she wasn't quite sure where the medicine den was anymore, or if it was even still standing. The tunnel might have collapsed. But it was worth a look - right now it was all they had. She turned to face the warrior and beckoned with her tail. "We should see what's left of our stockpiles of herbs and gather as much as we can to take with us. Mudfeather and I are going to have our work cut out for us!"
It did not occur to her that the names Indigothorn had listed were the only ones left. It was hardly a comprehensive list; surely more than seven of them had survived. She tried not to think about the names that hadn't been mentioned. Just because Indigothorn hadn't brought them up didn't mean they were dead... right?

"Without Pancake to help I don't think I would've gotten up off of my paws," Songdapple chuckled. "A lot has happened in the past few days."
Sagepaw was missing, but surely she would be found soon enough. Songdapple gulped down her fear and lived in the present, she had found her Clan and that was all that mattered.
"Is the Clan leaving?" Songdapple asked. "Is it safe to live here anymore?" Songdapple shuddered at the thought of another tornado. It had caused so much destruction. She couldn't bring herself to look around the camp, she was sure that she was going to see dead Clanmates everywhere, she had seen enough of them already. She just hoped that Sagepaw was still out there, the Clan needed their medicine cat. She looked up at the sky.

The urge to unsheathe her claws and bare her fangs grew ever stronger as Pronghornstar continued to eye Pancake, but she told herself over and over again to keep herself together. Aggression would get her nowhere. This loner had done nothing, and wasn’t even expressing defensive behaviors. He had helped Songdapple find her way back, and Pronghornstar needed to appreciate that. If anything her willingness to battle the tomcat was telling her that her fighting spirit remained strong - the shock from the storm and all the deaths hadn’t dampened her protectiveness over her territory.
Pronghornstar kept her gaze on Pancake a moment longer. Suspicious as she was of him still, logically she knew he was no threat. He remained silent as the Clancats conversed, and eventually, as Songdapple spoke, Pronghornstar removed her gaze off Pancake and toward her warrior. Sorrow washed over the leader once more at Songdapple’s inquiries. ”We’ve lived through storms before,” the leader started slowly, almost as if she were unsure of her words. What she said was true. Tumultuous storms had raged across the flatlands numerous times, but this had been the first time that a tornado had slammed the camp directly, tearing into their territory with hungry teeth and murderous claws. This storm had taken so many lives, had ruined their camp, had destroyed their land… The leader was about to concede and tell Songdapple that relocating may be a possibility, but she remembered that a loner was standing near the tortoiseshell, and it would be an even bleaker day than this before the leader admitted defeat in front of a stranger. ”Once we all regroup and take some time to rest, we’ll assess the situation. PrairieClan has lived here for generations, one storm can’t ruin that.”
