Uh oh did someone say moss? I actually know too much about moss. The stuff the used for bandages was sphagnum moss, also more commonly known as peat moss. It’s very good at absorbing crazy amounts of water thanks to it’s special hyaline cells (which if you look under a microscope, they are large transparent cells between the much smaller green chlorophyll cells). If you ever been to a bog, you might find peat moss in the wild, if fact there are peat moss bogs where most of the land is covered in piles of this moss.

𝔖𝔬𝔯𝔯𝔢𝔩 ahh, yes, the good ol' YouTube rabbit hole. We're well acquainted. xD It is fascinating! I love watching reconstructed, speed-corrected footage with added sound from that time period up through the mid-20th century. It feels like time travel! xєяσ єємαι zσηтαησѕ ♬ I would so love to see another broadway show or even a production on tour! You are beyond lucky, xero! Side note, you've got me interested in Come From Away. I've seen you talk about it before and I keep meaning to listen to it. It's the one about Operation Yellow Ribbon during 9/11, isn't it?

hi sorrel! im into hamilton too! and i'm into history as well! hiii!! That’s awesome! I’m glad to see so many people who like history:D History really is fantastic, I like it, because even though there are facts that details what happened, people can still have their own perspectives and opinions on things, unlike in math or something where there's only like one correct answer, not saying that stuff in history is wrong, it's just there's different perspectives to explore which makes it more appealing to me. I hope this makes sense.

Yes, I do that all the time!
This might be weird, but... I was reading about the Blitz recently and found some soundclips of an authentic air raid to listen to as I read. Those sirens sounded like a nightmare. Hard to imagine that was the last sound some of those people ever heard.
Old music from that era makes me emotional, too. Songs like "White Cliffs of Dover" and "When The Lights Go on Again." Obviously, we know how it all ends now, but back then they didn't know if they were going to win or lose. Makes lyrics like "rain or snow is all that will fall from the skies again" and "Jimmy will go to sleep in his own little room again" hit a lot harder.

I think might be what attracts me so much to true crime, because like "Wow, can you imagine?" My example matches poorly with yours I think, so it might not seem like I get what you mean, but I do, I just suck at explaining lol.

oooh, i love historical fashion! i initially got into it bc i was looking for drawing references and wanted my characters to be dressed accurately to their time period.
that’s how i ended up watching a lot of “costubers” like Bernadette Banner, Rachael Maksy, and Karolina Zebrowski on youtube. you should check them out if y’all are interested in that kind of thing!

I take some artistic liberties with costuming for the sake of being able to replicate them easily. I want to draw comics, and that includes drawing people in motion, so I have to simplify the historical clothing somewhat. Don't want the panel to look too cluttered! But at the same time, I want it to be recognizable as being from a certain era and as accurate as possible.
I really enjoy Edwardian women's fashion. I love the long, swoopy dresses. They look so elegant and pretty! Oh, and fancy military uniforms are fun too lol.

Those of you who like history/period dramas, historical fashion, and/or Broadway, check out The Gilded Age on HBO! It's a new show from the creator of Downton Abbey and there's a bunch of theatre actors in it. (Audra MacDonald, Denée Benton, Kelli O'Hara, and Patrick Page, to name a few). I watched the first episode last night and I'm hooked.

Today in feeding my Elizabethian London/John Dee/Arthur Dee special interest, I have found *yet another* homosexual.
Arthur's godfather was apparently in open-secret relationships with several men. And so was the godfather's brother. They both were married, but ended up setting up a 'bachelors establishment'.
He also discovered how to freeze meat, only he caught pneumonia in the process and died, so whoops.
(Sir Francis Bacon, if you were curious.)

autistic mood of the day: Someone just got really, really mad at me and is now refusing to talk to me. I have no idea what I did, but whenever I tried to speak, I got interrupted and talked over. I think me trying to understand what happened just made it worse, somehow? I'm so confused ;-;

I think me trying to understand what happened just made it worse, somehow? I'm so confused ;-; Oh, I feel it. I've had problems with feeling like someone is mad at me and then when I ask, that unfortunately just makes them even angrier. People have to come to you about their emotions on their own terms, but gee if it isn't anxiety-inducing when they decide to make you wait. On a less relevant note, I've actually been cycling through interests quite quickly, which is unusual for me. Right now I'm currently maybe a little obsessed with FNAF, which is so funny coming full circle on this because I used to avoid it back when I wasn't in the best mindset (a judgmental one that I have since grown out of, thankfully). Security Breach lured me right in with that father-son dynamic between Glamrock Freddy and Gregory. I'm even about to work on a mod for another game in celebration of it. Of course, it's a wonder if it'll ever get finished. I'm a serial procrastinator, always have been, and that tends to get in the way of "work ethic". We'll see.
