Clans…
1. ThunderClan: Ashtail’s Clan of giant cats. Most cats were directly or indirectly named for canon characters, especially at the beginning.
2. ShadowClan: Mine. The most important cats in the Clan (minus medicine cat) were transparently “inspired by” canon cats, though the background warriors were actually original.
3. WindClan: Mine. I didn’t care about them, with one exception.
4. RiverClan: Ashtail’s.
5: SkyClan: Mine. If anyone was around for Dappled Leaves, this is the “original continuity” I mentioned.
6. LeafClan: Ashtail’s. Lived entirely in the trees.
7. FlameClan: Mine. Lived in taller grass than WindClan. Ignoring the fact that moors are full of tall grass, not well-mown lawns.
8. NightClan: ??? They were mine. Lived around Highstones.
9. DawnClan: Ashtail’s.
10. DuskClan: Ashtail’s.
11. FormClan: Ashtail’s Clan of giant cats that were all twins; each pair of twins had a rhyming prefix and the same suffix.
12. WeirdClan: Ashtail’s sparklecat Clan.
13. HazelClan: The exiled Hazelfur/star, her four kittens, and a couple former rogues. I believe Ashtail had one HazelClan cat who then attempted to kill Hazelstar.
14. BlazingClan: A Clan cobbled together by Blazingheart/star, Hazelstar’s son, consisting of rogues, loners, former kittypets…and refugees from the original twelve Clans…
15. SongClan: A giant group of travelers who decided they liked how BlazingClan lived but not where and made a camp in the nearby mountains.
16. Whatever the equivalent to BloodClan was; I don’t think they were something-Clan.
Cats were, as I said, made of Model Magic.
Basic rules:
If a cat’s head comes off, or if its body is split, it’s dead.
We weren’t allowed to try to kill each other’s cats (except in special circumstances).
Plastic tiger = mountain lion.
Legs and tails could be glued back on (or the fact that they were gone could be ignored) unless we wanted them broken for plot.
Leaders could be glued back together eight times.
In cases of accidents with cats we really cared about, we could save them from death.
If our real cat broke a cat, that death didn’t count.
This gave very large, very fat, and very small cats an advantage, because it was difficult to break them.
When the WAVE OF DEATH started, we established that the last warrior in a Clan was by default the leader. This continued to “last cat” in some cases.
Wave of Death: We got pettier and more bored with the game. We were on vacation. If one cat died the Clan would of course get mad and there would be more deaths. But since they weren’t real cats they didn’t get actually worn down by the fighting, so it kept going.
Original set of leaders:
Tigerstar of ThunderClan, a tiny brown tom with green eyes, who was exceedingly friendly to everyone.
Tawnystar of ShadowClan, a blatant copy of Tawnypelt except dilute.
Smallstar of RiverClan, a small, squat, fat white she-cat with cobalt blue eyes and tiny legs. Our cat liked to steal all of the Model Magic cats, but Smallstar was his favorite.
??? I believe the purple cat with blue eyes in this drawing is the WindClan leader, who was purple because it was difficult to turn white Model Magic black.
Lianastar of SkyClan, an orange cat with a white muzzle and blue eyes who I didn’t care about at all.
Whitestar of LeafClan, a white cat with green eyes.
Firestar of FlameClan, a ginger and white tom with one green eye. He wasn’t intended to be like Firestar. He had a dry but level personality and was intense about StarClan (which had a lot to do with part of his backstory).
??? The picture has a black and white cat with yellow eyes, which is probably the NightClan leader.
??? The picture has an irritated gold she-cat with yellow eyes, which I believe is the DawnClan leader.
??? The picture has a fluffy gold and white tom, who by process of elimination should be the DuskClan leader. However, I am now thinking that some of my guesses are wrong.
The FormClan leader was either Boldstar or Goldstar depending on which one Ashtail could find that day. They were both orange and white toms.
First, two rogues.
Firefang (mine): Ginger tabby tom with cobalt blue eyes. Cursed for something vague he did a long time ago; every time he reaches his last life, StarClan appoints him leader of something arbitrary and gives him nine lives, even though he never leaves Twelvetrees.
Swift Star (mine): Very long-legged, slender, slightly-mottled pale gray she-cat with black streaks and a vaguely star-shaped black mark on her face. ShadowClan helped her once, so when she feared for her kits’ lives as rogues, she sent them to live in ShadowClan.
Fox (Ashtail’s): Big white tom who was antagonistic toward WeirdClan right at the beginning.
Other ThunderClan cats included (Ash)…
Bluewhisker/star: Original deputy. Looked like Swanfeather from The New Clans. Ashtail insisted she was simply the best warrior in the forest, but honestly she was a brat.
Foxtail: Orange tom who died according to the set rules but Ashtail resurrected him with a different cat’s head. Which was white.
Sunshine: Dark brown tom.
Flameheart: Dark brown tom.
Graystripe: Dark gray tom with a white spot on his back that was originally cobwebs.
Silverstripe: Pale gray she-cat, Graystripe’s mate.
Lightningtail:
Mercurytail/star: The last survivor of ThunderClan, except when Ashtail made more out of nowhere.
Yarrowstar: The biggest cat ever to live, the same size as a mountain lion (which was bigger in comparison to a standard cat than a tiger is to a house cat, because we used plastic tigers for mountain lions).
Squirrelpelt: Dark brown she-cat.
Brambleheart: Dark brown tom.
Hollykit: Black plastic she-cat.
Lionkit: Orange plastic tom.
Jaykit: Gray-brown plastic tom.
Yes, having plastic cats was cheating, but by then, well…
Other ShadowClan cats included (mine)…
Blacklegs: Original deputy. White tom with black legs.
Rainbowheart: Medicine cat. “Pewter-colored” (my way of saying I mixed orange and blue and just barely didn’t make the resulting gray a solid color) she-cat with orange eyes. I guess she was okay, sort of, if you ignore her name.
Badgertooth: Medicine apprentice. Dark gray tom with a black and white striped face and cobalt blue eyes. I liked him at the time. Ashtail went to great lengths to break him. He was pretty much Nearly Headless Nick for a long time.
Featherpelt: Light gray she-cat.
Stormfall: Dark gray tom. Featherpelt’s brother. Had some kind of huge rivalry with Blacklegs.
Badgerface: After Ashtail finally managed to break Badgertooth for good, I glued him together and said he was a new kit named for the recently dead medicine cat.
Icestar: Was never made. Canonically Tawnystar’s mother, a longhaired white she-cat who had Bluestar’s backstory before Bluestar’s Prophecy was even written. Go me.
Shinepelt: My favorite cat, a fluffy golden tom with yellow eyes. Ashtail DESPISED him, so Bluestar led raids on ShadowClan solely to kill him. I managed to protect him for a little while.
Whitefur: Shinepelt’s former apprentice. Bluestar’s raids killed her first.
Zebraheart: Black and white tom that I didn’t like.
Marbleswirl: Heavyset black and white tom.
Nightswirl: Black and white she-cat.
Shadeheart: Black and white she-cat.
Zigzagpelt: White tom with black streaks.
Mottlepelt: Black and white tom.
There were two more black and white cats. The eight of them were siblings and the children of Swift Star.
Cinderstreak: Sturdy mottled pale gray she-cat with black streaks on her back. Medicine cat. Went to create WeirdClan.
(the other) Whitepaw: Cinderstreak’s apprentice, a white tom.
Other RiverClan cats included (Ash)…
Bigbelly/star: Medicine cat. Giant fat white tom. Last survivor of RiverClan.
Fatbelly/star: Original deputy. Giant fat white tom.
Other WindClan cats included (mine)…
Chocolatetail/star: Last survivor of WindClan, he became the default leader as a very young warrior. Small brown tom with a darker brown ridge on his back and yellow eyes. Also had a weird black spot on his face (made when I attempted to give him pupils for some reason even though almost no one had pupils and my hand slipped). Had fierce battles with Yarrowstar, who had decided he was the biggest threat to her Clan. It took “years” for her to kill him (about three months of real time) because he could hide in small spaces.
Other SkyClan cats included (mine)…
Swirledfur/star: Gray and pale yellow she-cat with blue eyes. I honestly liked her even though she’s a Typical Mean Leader in Dappled Leaves. She was good.
Dappleface/star: Swirled orange and white she-cat. Became leader after LeafClan, DuskClan, and DawnClan (illegally by the rules of the game) teamed up to eradicate SkyClan for having the largest number of surviving cats because they stayed out of the original few Wave of Death battles due to me not caring about SkyClan. What happened was that Swirledstar wasn’t on her last life, but I lost her head and didn’t find it until the next week.
Cloudedfur: Was deputy for a while. White and peach tom.
Starcloud: Big white tom with a gray mark. In the game he was an arrogant warrior killed by Leaf/Dusk/DawnClan. In Dappled Leaves he was an evil
Graycloud: Dark gray tom. Went to WindClan after the end of SkyClan.
Passionflower: Marbled white/peach/pale yellow she-cat with green eyes. Went to WindClan after the end of SkyClan.
Redear: Swirled red and white she-cat, the last to be killed. In Dappled Leaves she became Dappleface’s sister.
Thunderhead: Brown tom with a yellow ear (changed to white in Dappled Leaves). He also got renamed Thundercloud because jam spreader kept making fun of him.
Yellowfur: Evil medicine cat. Yellow she-cat.
Other LeafClan cats included (Ash)…
A lot of white cats. All the Model Magic was white; we had to mix marker into it to make the other colors (or sometimes drew on them).
Other NightClan cats included (mine)…
Hazelfur …
Bluefire/star: White she-cat with a black back. The final member of NightClan. I tried to make her never the leader so there wouldn’t be a second Bluestar in continuity, but it was too late.
Other DuskClan and DawnClan cats, uhhhhh (Ash)…
Other FlameClan cats included (mine)…
Ginger…something: Firestar’s mate and deputy. Also ginger and white with green eyes, because this was the most common appearance in FlameClan.
Firestar’s backstory: For some reason that he considered a good reason but I don’t remember what it was, he faked a sign to become the next leader. When Firefoot arrived at the Moonstone, he actually got stuck in a small space looking into the Moonstone’s cavern. A flood like in the lake tunnels pushed him through but also impaled him on the Moonstone. However, because he had made it to the Moonstone, they gave him nine lives anyway. Yeah.
WeirdClan (Ash)…
Notail/star: Blue she-cat with yellow eyes and no tail.
Violetheart: Purple she-cat. Medicine cat.
Cinderstreak of ShadowClan took her apprentice to go build WeirdClan. Not sure why. WeirdClan lived far away, on a cliff.
FormClan (Ash)…
Boldstar and Goldstar are the only ones I actually remember. Their warrior names were Boldface and Goldface. Even though they bordered WeirdClan (and therefore lived really far away), they were big enough that the travel time wasn’t bad for them to Twelvetrees.
Now for the drama.
Before the Wave of Death, Hazelfur split from NightClan with her newborn kits. She reappeared with them as her apprentices and with a band of rogues, went to the Moonstone, and became Hazelstar of HazelClan. She had a vendetta against her old Clan and killed a couple of them.
This was very unfortunate for NightClan, because they basically immediately lost all their warriors, leaving just Bluestar, who got killed by hostile DuskClan and DawnClan cats, who were then promptly lost somewhere.
The Wave of Death began. DuskClan, DawnClan, NightClan, and FlameClan dropped off the map, and SkyClan was eliminated. RiverClan (which…only had about six cats at any given time…) had comparatively long-lived warriors because they were so fat (and therefore hard to break), but they ultimately all died, too. (Smallstar broke in an accident; the others were a little less compact, though technically much larger.) WindClan got ravaged. ThunderClan decimated ShadowClan. All the LeafClan cats and most of the FormClan cats were physically lost (Goldstar and a replacement Coldstar remained).
Blazingheart, Hazelstar’s son, abandoned HazelClan to make his own heroic Clan to take her down.
The stragglers from ShadowClan and ThunderClan finally teamed up to destroy HazelClan. One or two HazelClan cats surrendered.
Chocolatestar made it to the cliff where WeirdClan and FormClan lived, but the official story is that the equivalent to BloodClan wiped them out and briefly entertained the idea of living like a Clan.
Blazingheart took refuge in the side of WeirdClan’s cliff and basically advertised Clan life. There were two ways to get in and out of the camp—the cliff face and a tiny tunnel. This became instrumental in hiding from the six mountain lions that wanted to eat the cats.
BlazingClan…
Whitesnow (mine): Big white she-cat, formerly a kittypet named Snow White.
Cloudtail/star (Ash): Tiny white she-cat covered in scars who was glued together at least thirty times.
Screechfur (mine): Dark brown and black tom with yellow eyes.
Brackenheart (Ash): Brown and gray tom. He had a nearly identical brother.
Squirrelpelt and Brambleheart came to join BlazingClan but decided not to. Instead they hung around near SongClan and tried to kill SongClan border patrols.
Chocolatestar tried to join BlazingClan, but Yarrowstar would not let him anywhere near the cliff.
Whitemouse (mine): Gray Siamese tom, former loner.
Silvermouse (Ash): White tom, former loner.
Blazingclaw (mine): A yellow tom, like a sickly gross yellow, with orange eyes, named for Blazingstar after the leader’s death.
Splashpelt (mine): Gray and white tom.
BlazingClan had many, many more cats than that.
SongClan was started by Song(star), who thought Clan life looked cool. In-universe the giant group of travelers disliked the open cliff face. The real reason they didn’t join BlazingClan was just that they didn’t all fit in the camp at the same time (I mean, you could fit them in there, but it was extremely crowded) because they came at a time when BlazingClan had a lot of cats.
Then there was another wave of death and BlazingClan had about five members at any time from then on and then we stopped playing.
BloodClan equivalent…yes, they had the collars…
Pebble (Ash): Little gray tom.
Bolder (mine): Dark gray and black tom with a yellow underbelly. Very emphatically was not named Boulder, because although he was Pebble’s second in command, he did not want to be thought of as an extension of Pebble.
Brick (mine): Reddish brown tom. When Ashtail’s cat tried to kill him by snapping his neck, what actually happened was that she broke his (dark purple Model Magic) collar. I peeled the rest of the collar off, but his neck was stained, so canonically he had bad bruises and a neck that was forever sore.
Rock (Ash): Pathetic gray tom.
After Brick went to the forest and got his collar ripped off, he came back to find that Rock had taken his job. Rock was a whiny little thing, so Brick beat him up until he gave his job back.
That’s all I remember right now.
