Ashtail apparently has a friend over in the backyard, so I’m not sure if we’re going to get to 14 today, but we’re so close...

oh my god look at this art I just found So, first of all, this is amazing. But...I'm confused, because there's no way I was older than 5 when I drew this. I could maybe buy 6. I have other art from when I was 7, and this is just not how I drew anymore. And yet...it says "DS" in the corner. "DS" is not my initials. I can only imagine it stands for "Dawnsilence." But...I thought Dawnsilence was invented to be a warrior name, and I thought I started Warriors when I was 7? Maybe Dawnsilence already existed and just happened to work as a warrior name later on? (My real name is covered up in the fancy box near the middle right.) "Colopsagath" was a species of dinosaur I invented. They were basically supposed to be Compsognathus but only about six inches long from nose to tail, and I pretended they lived in my ceiling/floor (um, in the space above the first floor of my house, but below the second floor). I believe "cm" is supposed to be some sort of copyright or trademark. I think I thought "cm" was the French version of "TM," but upon looking it up, it's actually "MC."

That's very odd.
I recently discovered that I must have started reading Warriors at 9, which was o.o Because I thought it had to be 10 at the earliest.

I remember my mom picking it out for me at the bookstore, but suddenly I'm no longer sure of the date! abbreviated yet still long opinions incoming For me it's hard to rank the original, because it's almost an entirely different kind of movie, but I have enough opinions about the sequels to make a list of just the sequels, I guess.
I feel like I would call the original "better" than any of the sequels, but in terms of how much I would want to watch it again, I guess I'll include it still?
Also, I am not including hate-watch-ability in the rankings, because that would not be fair.
Movies that are very bad:
#13: XI Invasion of the Tinysauruses. I know it's a bold statement to say XIII isn't the worst, but honestly XI offends my sensibilities more. I think it basically comes down to two things: XIII doesn't intend to be taken seriously at all, and XIII could be written off as a fever dream, while XI is clearly important to the canon. I hate the Tinysauruses, and I hate that they save the day by tickling. Tria is okay, I guess, but with every new Triceratops they add I get more frustrated with the ones we've already seen. I hate the tree and the plot where Littlefoot thinks he's too little. The song Cera and Liz sing was probably the high point of the movie, and I still couldn't stand it because of the chorus of Tinysauruses singing in the background.
Also, all of the adults except the longnecks and eventually Tria are just instantly on board with killing all of the Tinysauruses, which Littlefoot explicitly called longnecks. Petrie's mom is one of the first to start singing, and even Ducky and Spike's mom is there. Then, when Littlefoot admits that he knocked the flowers off the tree, everyone just instantly forgets about killing an entire species. There are never any consequences other than Tria being kind of mad at Mr. Threehorn for a while (and everyone hating Littlefoot for lying). I guess they just forgot it was a movie about racism and decided it was only a movie about lying now?
Watching XI as a child was when I truly learned what betrayal was.
#12: XIII Wisdom of Friends. Don't worry, I still hate it. I just didn't feel like the movie wanted me to pay attention, which at this point is a good thing. Also, I don't think the living squeaky toys ever interacted with any of the adult characters, so that's good. Technically bad, but it means I don't have to think about them fitting into the world. The high point was definitely the part where they're pretending to drown in the river, before Littlefoot shows up to recite platitudes at them.
#11: X Great Longneck Migration. This movie makes me angry and I don't know why. I don't care about Bron; I think he's annoying. The Shorty plot was a reasonable idea, but I really feel like there's more emotional payoff to his ability to throw rocks than to the arc of learning Bron really loved him. Every moment the sharpteeth were on screen was boring. I kind of liked the eclipse plot, but it really feels like every second spent with the longnecks was just empty space, devoid of emotion, when it was clearly supposed to be emotional! Almost everything that happened in this movie made me bored and angry.
I guess one thing is just that it really feels like they should have had time to let Littlefoot meet more than two new characters in the crater. He meets his dad and Shorty, and that's...it. Maybe they could have used some of the time devoted to the interminable sharptooth fight to make up some characters.
A confusing point in this movie's favor is that the scene where Pat steps in lava gave me nightmares as a child. That's...probably just because I'm afraid of that kind of thing, but good job, that was the scariest part of any of these movies.
Movies that are kind of bad:
#10: XII Great Day of the Flyers. It was pretty boring, but I don't hate Guido. For a character introduced so late in the series, he was...okay. (She did choose his worst moment to show in the video.) The movie was boring, and I don't get what the great day was about. Maybe I missed some important dialogue, but it mostly seemed like it was a parade where the stakes would be "Petrie embarrasses himself and his family," but then who were those three big pterosaurs? Are they, like...respected elders? Parts of the movie made it seem like this was some sort of drivers' test for flyers? Also, unless all those other pterosaurs flying around were from out of town, why don't we ever get to meet any of them?
(Aside: the population of the GV is very inconsistent. Sometimes it's chock full of dinosaurs, and other times there are like 20 total and they can all live on the one hot spring.)
Anyway, having seen the movie just a couple times as a kid, I remembered the sleepwalking/flying as multiple short scenes, and I agree that the one long scene was boring. Something Jenny doesn't mention is that Cera's new sister is incredibly annoying. I almost feel like I hate Tricia's design more than the squeaky toys. I mean, they kind of look like the dragons from Dragon Tales but worse, but Tricia is a horrible distorted Triceratops who is honestly worse to look at than the admittedly "gummy and wrinkly" designs earlier in the series. She also makes horrible baby noises and screams. I can't stand her. And Petrie's siblings all being bullies is...I mean, I guess they could go with that if they want, but Petrie's mother (who has already lost all my sympathy) does nothing about it, and they all just decide to stop being bullies when Guido tells them their faces look like butts. It's all so pointless.
#9: XIV Journey of the Brave. Most of the movie was okay, but I didn't like the lizards that worshipped Petrie, and (I think Jenny also said this) I didn't get why Ruby was there. Or Chomper, for that matter. He's just...in the GV with no explanation. Not even hanging out with the main characters. I think Jenny said Ruby was his babysitter, but I didn't get that at all from the movie, and I still don't get why either of them is there. I mean, it's great that Chomper is back, and maybe if I watched the TV show I would understand, but having not watched the show, I have so many questions!
Spent way too long in the desert, partially as a result of Petrie's lizards. (The scene where Petrie accepts that he has to leave the lizards was okay, I guess.) The plot and ending were fine. I liked that Wild Arms was a coward and a liar, but they tried too hard to make him funny. There was a noticeably steep increase in the number of cartoon sound effects, which I imagine is a holdover from the TV show. I liked how the movie seemed to be attempting to give each character a reason to be part of the plot: Cera can smash rocks, Littlefoot is a quick thinker, and Spike's single-minded pursuit of food helps them a couple of times. Petrie, um...can see lava, and Ducky...is there for moral support, I guess? They tried.
I think it might have been an accident, but it feels like Cera grew a lot before this movie. She didn't scream at every little thing. I...don't remember if she screamed ever during this movie?
Movies that are decent:
#8: VI Secret of Saurus Rock. First I just want to say that these four movies were extremely difficult to rank, and they could really be in any order. Anyway, this movie was fine. Doc was pretty cool, the songs were all acceptable, and the ending fight was good. There were a lot of scenes that I actually liked.
Unfortunately, there were also Dinah and Dana. It's not even the fact that they're young, it's the way they talk, and the squeaky voices. "Dinah Dana rocky go-go!" And the joke where Ducky keeps translating for them, which extends to Cera asking Ducky what various phrases mean (I refuse to go back and watch, but something like, "No-no Grampy Threeby grr").
#7: IX Journey to Big Water. I like the Mo plot. Like Jenny said, his voice was kind of annoying, but that's acceptable coming from a dolphin-like creature, and he didn't behave too annoyingly. I think it also helps that the characters actually get annoyed when he's annoying. The Liopleurodon was probably the scariest design in the series. I really like the scene where Mo shows Littlefoot the starfish, and then they all sing a song about how big the world is while the eggs hatch. I don't even mind the opening; I wasn't too bored by it, but all the rain and stuff is suitably dreary, and the song is really on the better side for this series.
However, the movie loses a LOT of points for the imaginary friends sequence. It should have been a one-off joke where everyone looks at Petrie and then it ends. Not a full song that felt excruciatingly long plus another too-long joke while Petrie is flying by himself.
#6: VIII Big Freeze. I actually barely remembered any of the plot of this movie and didn't think I would like it at all, but it was fine. I knew this was the one where Spike had to choose between his family and his species, but it's hard to have significant emotion with a character the writers are clearly tired of. Wisely, it focuses a lot more on Ducky. The songs are fine, the plot is fine. The scene where Mr. Thicknose falls into the water still makes me wince because the water looks like lava, but that's actually a good thing, I think. I don't understand the school plot at all; he should just have been some kind of elder, not an actual teacher? This one was a lot better than I remembered it being.
#5: IV Journey through the Mists. I liked the plot and the villains, and some of the scenery was pretty cool. Allie...in concept I want to like her, but I just don't, and I don't like Tickles, either. The scene where the flowers bloom is predictable but great. The song the villains sing to each other is decent.
I think I dreamed once that they sang a beautiful song upon reaching the mountains for the first time, when there's a double rainbow, and since then every time I've seen the movie it's disappointed me, but that's a me problem.
Movies that are good:
#4: III Time of the Great Giving. First of all, this is actually a pretty small gap from the previous one, but I still feel like it should go up a ranking. The pacing is weirdly sporadic, but other than that, it's fine. Jenny talks a lot about the goop they fall into, but really it's just the first couple movies, and I guess the lizards trap Cera in sand in XIV. I like the bullies, I like the drought plot, the songs are fine, and the fire is actually reasonably scary. The velociraptor fight went on a little long, I guess.
(The original is...probably here? But maybe it should go between III and IV, or even between IV and VIII...?)
#3: V Mysterious Island. Basically what Jenny said, but the pacing felt really weird while actually watching it.
#2: VII Stone of Cold Fire. This is my hot take. I will agree that the aliens were mishandled: I think they should have had more influence on the actual plot, and I think they should have been less explicit about having them beam up into the spaceship (just have them disappear, don't show the beam).
Pterano and his creepy buddies are fun and steal the show. I like when Pterano has a flashback and then sings about how great he is while Sierra tries to threaten him and Rinkus tells him to be patient. I also like when Pterano has a breakdown over the meteorite and then Rinkus and Sierra start screaming at the meteorite and hitting it with rocks.
The scene where they make a boat is fun. I like all the parts where Ducky is running away from the flyers. The volcano erupting is cool, and so is the elevator.
I don't remember if Jenny was the one who commented on this or just the other person Ashtail watched afterward, but I think the stakes were fine in this movie. Throwing a sharptooth into the climax of every movie is just boring, and it's perfectly fine for this one to be a volcano instead, a volcano whose eruption has already been integrated into the plot so it doesn't just come out of nowhere! Also, magic is already implied to exist if not straight-up confirmed, and now aliens are canon too, so I don't think you can really just assume that meteorites are never magic in this universe.
I approve of Jenny's comments on "Beyond the Mysterious Beyond."
#1: II Great Valley Adventure. I feel boring for putting the second movie as the best sequel, but I really feel like it is. It has Chomper and the other two fun villains, Ozzy and Strut. I love "Eggs" and also everything else Ozzy and Strut do. I don't think I have very much to add about the movie.
The VHS we (had? rented?) when I was a kid would, when rewound, play the movie backward at a speed that was still completely followable, and I have fond memories of watching this one backward at least half as many times as forward. The long sequence near the beginning of them stealing Ducky's sibling-egg in particular.

Pokémon fusion About a year ago, there was some meme (maybe a Tumblr post?) saying to hit "random" on the Pokémon Fusion site to get your "government assigned starter." Here are some that I generated. My starter: Hauntchu The Shocking Pokémon, Ghost/Electric type; ability Levitate. It is a prankster that likes to scare people. Sometimes it disguises itself as the shadow of Pikachu. Adderbite's starter: Wigglywrath The Furious Pokémon, Fairy/Fighting type; ability Huge Power. It is consumed by rage which leads it to attack furiously, although its body wiggles as though made of Jell-O. Ashtail's starter: Metaeon The Withdrawn Pokémon, Bug type; ability Shell Armor. It is a very quiet Pokémon that seems unsteady on its feet sometimes. Most of the coarse fur covering its body is flattened into an impenetrable shell-like mass. jam spreader's starter: Growtwo The Growing Pokémon, Fire/Psychic type; ability Intimidate. It grows to double its usual height in battle and can change the size of other Pokémon and objects as well. Breccianose's starter: Magiuk The Lasagna Pokémon, Fire/Dragon type; ability Thick Fat. It...it's a lasagna with a face. Also it's magic.

dog fakemon that I don't think I've posted here Vaurrow (Ground) -> Petrifur (Ground) Vaurrow doesn't move much, and Petrifur hardly moves at all. When sent into battle, Petrifur plants the ends of the arrows coming from its body firmly into the ground and then stands still. It seems that the arrows somehow take in nutrients, which is good considering Petrifur cannot move enough to eat with its mouth. One might think a Pokémon so immobile would have difficulty battling, but when approached it is able to hit quite hard. As a sessile Pokémon it does not seek out fights, but it can become aggressive if provoked. alternate form Pidgey I saw in a dream I assume Velociraptor Pidgey is still Normal/Flying, but considering it doesn't have any evolutions, I'm going to say it has far better stats than the real Pidgey, maybe on par with Pidgeot. I'll also give it the ability Tough Claws. According to the dream, hackers found Velociraptor Pidgey buried deep in the code of a Pokémon game. Upon investigating, they found that Velociraptor Pidgey was programmed into every game since the beginning, although it was never obtainable through legitimate means. Although no one had known about it besides GameFreak, it had been legal in the metagame since 1878.

Thank you! Galar fossil Pokémon While these Pokémon do not appear to have been closely related, they all produce certain unusual compounds in their bodies that are preserved in fossilization, which is why their fossils are able to be combined and revived into hybrid Pokémon. The rare genes that cause shininess also interact with these compounds, causing all of their shinies to look similar. Solentozolt (Electric/Flying) Regular ability: Volt Absorb Hidden ability: Static For a long time, only the front half of this ancient bird was known. It was only recently that the back half was discovered, allowing competent scientists to resuscitate the Pokémon as it used to exist. While the membranes attaching its tails to its legs contain no bones, they can be seen in a famous impression fossil. It seems that the oscillation of these membranes generates most of the electrical power this Pokémon commands. Arctophtin (Ice/Psychic) Regular ability: Slush Rush Hidden ability: Ice Body A fish-like reptile, once known only by its back half, it turns out to have had a long snout full of very sharp teeth. It seems to be extremely intelligent. While it cannot speak, it consistently understands human speech very soon after revival. It lives primarily in the water, but has to come up for air. It is also capable of walking around on land, just very slowly. Dracollenia (Dragon/Ground) Regular ability: Sand Rush Hidden ability: Hustle At first, it was controversial among researchers whether the front half seen here actually matched to the back half, no matter how well they fit together, because the back half was usually thought to be from a herbivore. It wasn't until a few nearly-complete specimens were discovered that it became accepted by the scientific community at large. The large horns on its head seem to be used mostly for territorial disputes. When chasing after prey, it leans its head upward, leaving the horns to lie roughly parallel to its body. Dunossovish (Water/Fighting) Regular ability: Water Absorb Hidden ability: Strong Jaw It was thought for a long time that the fossilized fish heads common in Galar were from a species related to certain other ancient fish, but it turns out it was more of a sea monster all along. This Pokémon is built to be dangerous, from its armored eyes to its powerful jaw to its heavy, knife-like tail, but it has a calm and stoic demeanor. While it can only breathe underwater, it can hold its breath for upward of an hour safely in order to walk on land, comparable to some whales.
