This is an original concept which invites creative improvisation from its joiners, but here is the basic information about the world: The main story takes place in a futuristic/cyberpunk solar system with a single main planet, Zula. The planet itself is rather large with an abundance of plant and animal life. Most of the people who live there are incredibly wealthy and are referred to as The Farmers. Most people, however, are not so lucky. The vast majority of the population live on the orbiting moons in large cities called the Lunar Slums. In contrast to the planet, the moons are both poor and overpopulated. The buildings are packed so tall and tightly together that the streets are mostly shrouded in shadow, which is cast off only by the artificial lights of the clubs and shady joints.
The people who inhabit the slums are accustomed to looking out for themselves. More often than not, they become associated with gangs from a young age in order to protect themselves. Most everyone knows how to fight, and those who don't are usually rich enough to live on the main planet. But leaving the slums is much easier said than done. One must own land in order to live on the main planet, and plots are a thousand times more expensive than the average moondweller makes in a lifetime.
But living in the slums does have its advantages, if you forget about the toxic waste that results in unusual mutations among residents. What are those perks? The toughness needed to survive and just enough bitterness to keep a person going.

Our story centers around the residents of one of the worst hoods in the moon system, on a moon called Waste. It's the largest of the moons, and its city is the densest. In the depths of the city, toxic waste lingers like a thick fog. Babies are born with strange attributes whether it be strange coloring, unusual size, and extra or missing limbs. Many children are orphaned from a young age due to the damage the waste has on the lungs of people of live there. It's also rumored to make people more aggressive or even crazy.
Toughness is necessary to survive on Waste. Most resort to the sale of illegal substances or services. Others resort to violence in the form of gangs. Territories are complicated, with one gang lording over small slices of land.
Powerful men and women prowl through the streets with large entourages, and they look to the gangs to carry out their dirty work. The moons are very rarely visited by the residents (Farmers) of the planet. Those who do venture to Waste usually have nefarious intentions.
CHARACTERS The Tin Soldiers From the worst depths of Waste, the Tin Soldiers are a gang which lords over a prominent gambling club. They are known to be quite tight laced, and answer to a King Pin who prefers to stay in the shadows. Despite their decrepit stomping grounds, their clothes tend to reference military garb. (Open: 4 mains)
The Jungle Kings Once members of the Tin Soldiers, the Jungle Kings split off recently to form their own crew. They began to make money by hosting street fights, which was against Tin rules. The members are considered quite feral and unpredictable, and all of them are named after animals. (Open: 4 mains)

People from the planet of Zula are colloquially referred to as Farmers. This is in reference to their large swaths of fertile land, even though many of them do not actually work the fields. In fact, Zula residents are far from humble ranchers. They are usually very educated and wealthy. Many attend the famous universities in the various cities across the planet. They are an intellectual folk who stereotypically believe themselves superior. They live in large, beautiful houses with many rooms. They dress in refined, neutral colored clothing in comparison to the bold colors of the moon.
The wealthiest and most powerful of the farmers are members of the Solar Federation. It is a oligarchical government which relies heavily on wealth and political influence. Although the moons are a part of their jurisdiction, all of the government is comprised of Zula residents. Most of the government reach in the moon system comes in the form of a violent police system.
Although an asteroid belt between the moons and Zula makes travel difficult, some Farmers do make the trek out for the purpose of entertainment. Gambling, illegal substances, and company for hire are much easier to find in the slums than on the planet.

Tournaments are one of the primary forms of entertainment for the solar system and the only thing that tie the moons and the planet together. They are held several times a year, with fighters coming from all over the system to compete. The matches are extravagant and often deadly, with the Solar Federation presiding. Many children in the slums grow up wanting to become fighters. Gladiators are the biggest and wealthiest celebrities outside of politicians. Even those who were born in the slums are rich enough to move to Zula and change the fortunes of their descendants.
Tournaments can be structured a variety of ways, either with fighters playing on teams or individually. Weapons are also varied from swords and spears to guns and cannons, which tend to have mechanical components. Inventors and armorers work together to put forward the best machinery, which gives Farmers a key advantage in tournaments. They have the resources to put forward the best and highest end gear. But moon dwellers are known to play dirty, and they are unafraid to take risks with their gadgets.
Anyone is qualified to try out for tournaments, but the field of mainstays is quite small and difficult to assimilate. Tournaments are held at the Colosseum on the small moon of Bolt. Tickets to board the ships to the moon can also be quite expensive.

To join, just head on over to the joining page. I won't be updating the main page with character info, so be sure to check there for that too. But before you do that, there are a few things that I should note!
โ
First, in terms of literacy, I'm not going to set a word count or anything. Just try to match the effort level of your roleplay partners and read what the situation calls for.
โ
Activity is pretty wack on this site lately, and I'm guilty of drifting away from things too. Please only join if you intend to contribute.
โ
When it comes to creating characters and world building, please let your imagination run wild! If I haven't addressed it on the main page, I literally have no answers, so feel free to wing it!
โ
Please follow the forum rules even though most of us are grown adults haha Of course characters of all shapes, sizes, and orientations are welcome so long as they are original.

This is an original concept which draws from a few points of inspiration including Arcane, Bladerunner, Gladiator, etc. Please don't directly copy the world. The layout and banners are also by me, although the background images were found on pinterest.

[ Thanks~ No problem there! To be honest, I made technology and tools that are particularly advanced one of his weaknesses with that in mind. ^^ ]
[ Nice! I actually have something of a story for that too~ Cassi was born with mutations from the toxic waste but a Zula scientist managed to 'stabilize' him. ]
[ Looking forward to it! ^^ Oh, and you can write Moth as already being familiar with Cass if you want- that might make things easier depending on your scenario? Also, I'm watching Arcane now so I have a better picture of your world~ ]

[ Oh, I definitely like it already~! I don't play either, but I've always been a fan of their music videos/cinematics. I have no idea what's happening but it's nice to look at! Haha~ ]
[ Ohh okay! I didn't know the gangs were small! are you thinking maybe 50 or so? Or less? In either case, are there more 'roles' within them or are they more loose with rules? ]
[ Yep, it'll be fun! Especially considering they both have sharp-tongues~ ]

Moth โฅ The Colosseum โ
The staging room was past capacity. Upwards of a hundred bodies were sardined into the dim and stuffy space, some pushing against each other to afford the room to stand. Others were crowded against the wall, not complaining when their shoulders were bumped or their toes stepped on. They were a rugged group of many shapes and sizes, but all with an intimidating edge. Most everyone carried a weapon. And there was the ever-present fog of toxic waste, pooling around the floor as if it had been pumped in by a smoke machine.
Moth resorted to the use of elbow jabs more than a few times. The man next to her (bald headed, wearing a gas mask), had very little understanding of personal space. As numbers were called out, the entire room edged toward, waiting for their groupโs turn to speak with the Tournament organizers.
โNumber 27!โ a gruff voice broke out over the muffled noise.
โThatโs us!โ shouted Moth, raising her crumpled slip of paper so she could be seen among the crowd. She couldnโt see the other Jungle Kings but supposed they would find their way to the front when the board at the front was updated. She could see the numbers flickering already as they rose to include the newest additions to the tournament.
She crashed up to the front, finding herself opposite a row of stern-faced people at a long table.
โNumber twenty seven?โ a wrinkled woman with blue-tinted skin inquired.
โYes. The Jungle Kings,โ announced Moth, presenting the slip of paper as evidence. โThere are five of us. A quintet, if you willโ
The blue skinned woman was unamused. โDid you bring your own weapons and armor?โ
โOf course we did,โ Moth answered, instantly matching the shortness of the organizerโs tone. โThe poster said to, did it not?โ
The organizer scanned Moth up and down, taking in the two-toned locks of black and lilac, the spiked leather belt, and the incredulous expression. โI donโt see a weapon on youโฆOr armor, for that matter.โ Spectacled eyes flicked up, offering the statement almost as a challenge.
โI guess youโll just have to trust me, cupcake,โ Moth leaned forward, placing both hands against the edge of the table.
The organizer scrunched her nose, then dropped her shoulders in resignation. โFine. You and your group can report to locker room A3. Your exhibition fight begins in fifteen minutes.โ
โThank you!โ Moth chirped, expression brightening immediately. She followed the direction of the organizerโs shrug to a hallway at the back of the room. The hall was less crowded than the staging room, with only a handful of people loitering as they waited for their gang-members or strategized for their fights. A few glanced up, a mix of judgement and intrigue in their eyes when they saw Moth pass. She could read their thoughts without needing to hear them. They were wondering how a girl like her ended up there.
Moth ignored them, following the numbers above the doors until she reached A3.

โฅ The Colosseum โ
-- Cassowary 'Casso' Vega
Body heat. Body odor. The drone of words and hum of multiple heartbeats at once, shifting steps and unsteady breaths- and those are on the lesser scale of his ongoing sensory overload. Casso's nanites- the dunami- struggle to find a focus point amidst the controlled chaos. Everyone is a threat. They're all too close- everywhere he looks he finds a weapon. Multiple 'blips' on his vision would highlight everything within sight if he'd let it- but he can't close his eyes lest he lose the bright pink saving grace that he has used to steer himself through the crush of bodies.
Ordinary crowds are a hindrance. The near-bursting staging room is a nightmare. He could almost regret not training the dunami to become more accustomed to large gatherings of people- not immediately intent on killing him- but Casso isn't in the mood to 'regret' anything save not snapping the arm of the merc who had carelessly elbowed him in the face. The wall had been a relatively easy space to protect, but now Casso has to find a northern current in the sea of people as he unerringly tracks the more eye-catching of their five-man cell. Moth had been happy to keep hold of their ticket and do the talking. Which is just as well, Casso is suffering from the closest he can get to a migraine and the dunami have irked him into a shouting match. All outside voices register as white noise.
>>Threat! Not yet!<< >>This! Look there! Kill that! Deactivate threat assessment!<< >>Not on your life, scumsucker.
Huh. Ironic. And they're mimicking human speech patterns again. Cassowary glares into space, body temperature rising as the dunami become more agitated. He can't actually shut them down without doing the same to his body so the fastest solution would be to accost whoever is slogging through the applications in order to propel himself to the other side. Casso seizes someone's jacket and swings them aside with the intention to do just that when he is accosted instead- well, nearly.
"Hey Cas- ah!"
The familiar sing-song voice registers only after he begins to crush the delicate hand that had been reaching for his sleeve. Cassowary drops it with a grunt, luminous eyes flicking toward the younger man's face simply to give him respite from the more hostile ones. Hymn is biting his lip and tenderly rubbing at his fingers but still attempts a smile.
"Hi! Fancy seeing me here, right~?" Apparently recovered, the technologist manages to present himself with jazz hands. He gets nearly knocked over for the trouble but this too, fails to dampen his cheer. "Ahaha! You probably never thought I'd be so brav- wait, where are you going?!" Hymn trots after him, platform boots giving him height and a more solid base with which to squeeze through the crowd.
"I don't give a sh-"
"I'm here to help!" This line is delivered in a stage whisper, and Hymn tentatively tugs at the trailing sleeve of his jacket. "I know you'll be like, amazing, but it wouldn't hurt to have a little maintenance now and again, right~?" Casso once again shifts his gaze to meet a vaguely pleading look. Hymn obviously has an angle- he's a frail tinkerer who blanches at the sight of blood and, more damningly, is a member of Cassowary's rival gang. He wouldn't be here of his own volition and certainly not solely for Casso's sake. His help wouldn't be free either, as can be expected of their accidental symbiotic relationship. It would be a hassle keeping Hymn alive whilst also targeting his teammates. Not worth it. Besides, he can see the Tin Soldiers' robot-thing somewhere to their left. Hymn could offer it maintenance or whatever just as well.
Hymn reads his response before he even opens his mouth, doe eyes growing impossibly wider.
"Ca-"
Casso shoves him away and does the same to the bodies in front of him, doggedly following Moth's voice as she speaks to the organizers. Now that he's closer, it's easy to pinpoint her familiar tone and use it as a focal point. The dunami buzz in his head and whisper through his veins, but their intensity lessens once he emerges into the long hallway leading to some form of sanctity; At least as far as he's concerned. Casso bursts into room A3 and practically slams the door behind him, glaring at it. He's just gained about a hundred more reasons to kill everyone beyond the walls.
He hisses out a sigh and runs a hand through midnight hair, tuning out the dunami's latest observations as he leans against a wall and removes a flask from his belt. Casso takes a swig of the metallic liquid and allows his gaze to drift wearily until it alights upon the room's only other occupant. Moth has pink hair. That's about all he knows of her, beyond her name. Probably. Beyond basic information like height, weight, which side she favors, the lingering scent of her various concoctions, approximate age, blood type- they've never truly had a real conversation as he isn't one for niceties. He's learned something, though, having caught the tail-end of her interaction with the organizers and caught a dubious look as she passed a much older woman.
So, she's accustomed to being underestimated. He'll reserve judgment on whether or not that is warranted, not exactly privy to how the kingpin decided that she would be joining them. Casso eyes her over his drink for a bit,
"Cupcake?" He muses, "is that what they call you?"
