my parents fish tank is a bad story
they got the fish and the tank from a friend who was moving away to the mainland and couldnt keep them
but then time goes by and some of the original gold fish die (either jumping out of the tank or they just die in the tank and float)
the tank broke and flooded the house and my mom and i had to panic save the floors
we got a new tank (slightly bigger than the original one) but the remaining fish died while in the temporary bowl we usually set up when cleaing their tank.
then my mom complains about having an empty tank, so they go buy more fish, but this time they r much smaller and r blue with orange in them (idk what they're called RIP). also got one of those catfish looking bottom feeder things, the small ones.
anyways, more time goes by, and we still end up losing more fish.
we have some of them left right now, but a lot of the fish have tried jumping out again.
i've heard from pet store workers online and stuff that the tank we got is WAY too small. even if it is slightly bigger than the original one...
idk man, we're not destined to have pet fish. i dont even LIKE fish but even i get upset at how many times our fish die and that our tank is too small for them even if they are smaller fish

The last time I had fish was college/right after college. I had 2 beta fish, and my husband had 2 beta fish, so 4 small fish tanks total. We kept them in a magnetically closed cabinet (pretty strong magnet too). One day we came home from work to find 2 of them dead on the floor from where the cats finally figured out how to break into the cabinet, and the other 2 died within days from trauma/where the cats stuck their dirty paws in the water. Now it's cats only for us.

I used to keep and breed/raise Bet ta Fish! Super rewarding and I miss them a lot.
TONS of work though! Keeping fish is very hard and can be very complicated. You have to really know your stuff to keep a proper tank.
When I'm more settled and finally moved into my new place, I plan to get a small 5 gallon tank (minimum for any small fish) and get another betta. I want to get one from this ethical breeder I found who breeds the most gorgeous bettas!
Can't wait to have another betta. I miss the little guys

I used to have fish. Didn't spend a lot of time around them because they lived in my room at my dad's house and I was hardly there, but they were nice during the little time I spent around them.
