It's kinda funny that yesterday some of my classmates were talking about it, and then today this thread comes up. Seems like everyone likes it. I haven't watched it but I might. It is number one on Netflix right now and for good reason. It has some of the same vibes as The Hunger Games and Battle Royale. I liked it a lot and the characters were all well-rounded.

Everyone's talking so much about it- and right now while i'm writing this, my brother is watching it. I feel like i should give it a watch, but i'm not very interested in the plot.

I saw it while I was browsing Netflix, and I thought about watching it, but I can't stand the sight of blood, so maybe that wouldn't be the best idea.

Everybody is talking about it but nobody is actually saying much about it and it just seems like the new normie show like walking dead and game of thrones. So I can't say I'm interested.

Finally got around to watching it. I just finished episode six. My two favorite characters died back to back. WHY. Ji-yeong's death was so sad.

I haven't seen the show yet, but I HAVE seen the anime that was one of its inspirations, Kaiji. The anime was amazing to watch, so I'm really excited to see Squid Game.

Just finished episode six last night. I hate how the episode ended because it was outright sad. My two favorite characters are dead. I really dislike Sang woo. Do you all prefer the English dub or the original Korean version? I can’t stand the English dub.

I was watching a video that told me that there was an anime based on the idea of which the series itself was made. I don't know how true it is, and whether the idea for the series was stolen from the anime, but I would really like to watch this anime in the near future. Firstly because it's a good replacement for the TV series, if I like it, and secondly it would be interesting to compare the two releases.

Firstly because it's a good replacement for the TV series, if I like it, and secondly it would be interesting to compare the two releases. it was inspired by battle royale. it's not "stolen." it's called inspiration. the writer of squid games is very open about his inspirations and what influenced his story. battle royale is more about society expecations and behavior (and also it focused on teenagers vs adults), where squid game is more about economic systems, debt, and class divide (and it focuses on adults bc tons of adults get caught up in capitolism and accumulate debt over time). death games was not uncommon in japanese media by that time (it's its own subgenre), i think there was a few besides battle royale that existed by the mid-2000's. also squid game was originally written and deveoped as a stand alone movie in 2008, and the writer/director worked for years to get it greenlit somewhere until netflix took it up in 2019 (i think it was 2019). and it got reworked and fixed into an episodic series on netflix.

Of course I did, and after watching it I don't know which category of people I'd put myself in, because I liked the show on the one hand, I watched it in one go even though I don't like Korean soap operas. And on the other hand I would not re-watch it, and I usually re-watch the series 2-3 times to notice all the little things, so I do not really like it or what? Would you watch it again?
