welcome!
So I've had this idea for a really long time, and I won't be able to open the actual rp until the 4th of August. But I thought I might start generating interest and ideas around an rp. It would draw all of its inspiration from warrior cats but with human characters rather than cats. Essentially, it would be a tribe of people living in the forest. The ranks and cultural system would be the same as in the warrior cats books (with leaders, deputies, apprentices, etc.) This will be a semi-advanced to advanced rp with an emphasis on realism (aside from a few obvious concessions such as Starclan and some practical elements).
Obviously there would have to be some changes. For example, humans are much bigger than cats and therefore would need more accommodating shelters (no one can really sleep in a marigold bush unfortunately). We would also have to suspend our disbelief on some things. For example, I think it would be interesting if the members of the clan mostly wore white cloth and pelts, but those with specialty ranks might use some dyes. But I also don't want to delve too much into tasks like weaving or growing crops (we can experiment with those things a bit though if there is interest). I still want it to feel "wild" in the sense that the clan only interacts among its members and perhaps a rival clan. Most of the activities around camp will be similar to those in the books, like hunting and fight training.
But I will definitely need help planning this thing! And I only want to do it if there is some legitimate interest.
I would love helpers in deciding how the warrior cats culture might translate onto human subjects. For example, the naming system. I would like for it to stay more or less the same, but obviously they will not be using words such as "tail" and "paw" as frequently. They might be replaced with words like "palm" or "fist" or "hair."
Important questions to answer:
Age range for apprentices? What would shelters be like? - Ideas around territory?
Should there be a rival clan or should the rp be centered around one?- What should the clan members wear?
What kind of weapons or tools should be available to them?
UPDATED IDEAS: (thanks to Pearl for help)
- Tentative name for the clan is "Viperclan," centered around ideas of ferocity, valiance, recklessness, and selflessness.
- Ranks are more or less the same with a few updates. Warriors are split into three categories: guards (who specialize in fighting, protect against the enemy clan and predators), providers (who specialize in gathering food by setting snares, fishing, and hunting larger game as well), craftsmen (who build the shelters, craft weapons, and craft other materials for the clan)
- Apprentices start at the age of 9 years old with a mentor who teaches them in a wide range of topics. At 13 they choose their area of specialty (fighting, providing, crafting, or medicine). Then they either keep their mentor or are assigned on within their discipline until they are ready to become a warrior (or medicine man/woman) between the ages of 16-19.
- Clanmembers live in houses made of mudbrick and flat stone. They are very small, only large enough to house 3-7 people and a fireplace, though large game is cooked outside in the main fire pit, around which the clan gathers for much of the day.
- Animals will be north american (wolves, cougars, wild horses, deer, beavers, porcupine, bears, etc.)
- One rival clan which will likely be comprised of NPCS (?) with allegiances listed on the main page.
- Guards, leaders, deputies, and some select others can own horses. Others might own dogs or birds of prey.
- Medicinal herbs will be the same as in clan rps for nostalgia's sake (and so we don't have to come up with uses for new herbs lmao)
- Kit suffix is now "tot" and apprentice suffix is now "colt." Queens are referred to simply as "mothers."
- Note: Both medicine people have been claimed. There will however be two available slots for medicine apprentices. (I'm making more of these positions available because they are so essential.)
- There will be no claimable deputy position because Marestar has not selected a deputy yet. She is invoking an archaic practice surrounding deputy selection which involves a number of candidates going through trials to determine the most capable.

helpers:
I would love to have volunteers to bounce ideas off of! While I'm travelling from the 28th to the 4th and don't think I can handle opening the rp during that time, I'll be bringing my computer. So I'll be able to work on planning things out. And since I tend to get inspired about rps, if no one is giving me feedback I'll just keep planning without it lol
Point being, if anyone has ideas they would like to implement, please let me know in the next few days before I get too far in the process c: I'll be posting all of my musings on this page and they are subject to change if others have differing opinions.
I'll be switching up the polls with relative frequency to answer some of my more concrete questions.
Also anyone who chills with me in the planning stage will have first dibs on important ranks.

It's an interesting idea. If you want to keep it "wild", then there can't really be weapons like guns. How about going back to the middle ages? Weapons like swords, spears, shields, crossbows, longbows and daggers?
Change Kit to something like Tot or Kid which would be aged 0 - 8. Then Apprentices from 9 - 15 or 16. Warriors after that. And rather than medicine cats, they would be called Healers. Clan Leader would still be Clan Leader. Maybe changing Deputy to Second. Another suggestion is maybe split Warriors into Hunters, Guards and Gatherers. Queens would be Carers. And there could also be labour type jobs too, such as Weavers (make clothes) and Weaponsmiths.

Sorry I was at lunch and couldn't be as detailed in my response as I wanted to be. I also like the term "Tot." Any ideas for apprentice suffixes? Deputy will probably remain the same. So I'm thinking warriors, as you said, would be split up into something like:
Guards: In charge of patrolling the territory, accompanying hunters, leaders, and medicine men when leaving camp to protect against attackers. Providers: Feed the camp by hunting large game, small game with snares, and gathering berries/other vegetation. Craftsmen: Warriors who specialize in creating things like weapons and accessories, as well as building/maintaining structures for the camp.
Warriors can do all of these things, but definitely specialize in certain areas to make things more efficient.
Mothers and elders can also help with providing clothing and cosmetic things (jewelry and such).
Apprentices from the age of 9-13 are trained in all of the occupations (providing, crafting, and fighting) by a mentor. At the age of 13 they might be assigned a different mentor who specializes in their chosen area of expertise.
Does that sound like a good plan?

How about the word Tyro for an apprentice suffix? Tyro means beginner or novice.
The rest sounds good. I'm not sure if there should be a sister Rp or just an NPC villain... Both have their advantages and disadvantages.
As for their shelters, mud houses?
And how about horses? It could be a plot idea for them to learn how to ride horses.
I think they should have a more of a forested territory, but their homes should be in a clearing? They do need predators like wolves and giant cats around as well as large herbavores like elk and deer or even wild boar.

How do you feel about this for a layout idea? The clan name can obviously be changed, as can the color scheme and everything. I'm trying to get a bit of coding done before I go on my trip because it'll be difficult to find the time to fiddle with things when I'm in New York. Feedback is welcome!

Colt sounds good. I think it's better to have a shorter suffix. I feel Sprout is a little too long.
That's true. But then you have to be constant with NPC characters. Everyone Rps in a different way, so if two different people Rp the same NPC character, it'll come out with different results.
If they're near a forest then loghouses would be good, but they're a lot harder to build. Plus they need to be able to use fire, and a log house would most likely burn down. Mud houses are eaiser to build and they won't catch fire. You can even create a chimney.
If we look at places like Mongolia, the horses weren't sheltered. They had to brave the elements, but they were still domesticated.
You need to change the colours. It's a little harsh on the eyes and hard to read.

The horses are allowed to roam once they're trained since they don't stray far. Otherwise, they're tied up for a little bit. This could be a learning process for the clan.
Yes it's the main banner. Adderclan is alright, but the colour is too similar to the background. As for the Clan of the Valiant, it takes a while to read properly and a little hard on the eyes.
As for the Introduction, while it's easier to read, it's not the right colour against the green you're using.

Is this version of the banner better? Keep in mind "adderclan" will be in the title of the rp so people will know what it reads It looks a lot better.

About the Warriors. How about splitting them into four categories: Guards, Providers, Craftsmen and All-Rounders? It'd be the All-Rounders that do the basic teaching since they're jack of all trades? They could be like a reserve force that help out in any discipline when extra people are needed?
I may add medicinal herbs every so often since I'm studying up on them.

I'll paste everything into the layout eventually, but I'm going to start writing out the information for the front page because it's going to be quite a lot. Feedback and edits are welcome as I go.
Introduction
Welcome, potential joiner! This is Viperclan. It is a fan clan but with a twist: instead of centering around the exploits of wild cats, it is a story about wild humans. All of the lore is inspired by the warrior cats books. The species of the characters is the key difference, but the spirit of warrior cats is intact. This an exercise to examine how the warrior cat culture would translate to the human experience. We must ask for the suspension of disbelief as this clan is not meant to replicate the experiences of any current or historical human culture. It is purely fiction.
Viperclan is comprised of proud folk, known for their valiance, recklessness, and selflessness. They are a people both of the plains and of the forest, with a territory that spans many miles. Their rivals are Nettleclan, who live to the west. Because of the enemies and predators (bears, mountain lions, and wolves) that roam the land, Viperclan must always been on guard. In fact, they have people among their ranks who specialize in combat. Their warriors fill roles daily, whether it be providing for the clan, protecting them, or crafting their shelter and goods. In every other way, it is a typical clan, one which fights every day for its survival.
Are you brave enough to join their ranks?

Ranks and Titles:
As mentioned previously, Viperclan is structured the same as any clan. It is headed by a leader and a deputy. It has a medicineman (or woman). The majority of its members are either warriors or apprentices, and it also features queens (though now they are called "mothers") and their younglings, known as "tots." The suffixes for the youngest members of the clan is the same as their title. For apprentices, who are slightly older (9-19), it is "colt." All other suffixes remain the same. In general, names tend to reference human-related things such as palm, fist, hair, arm, arrow, hatchet, hammer, etc. But they also, like warrior cat names, refer to plants, animals, the weather, etc.
The most important different between a human clan and a cat clan is that humans require a few extra things: larger shelter, more game, and sufficient clothing. They also live in an environment with larger predators, and border a clan with fierce warriors armed with weapons. For all these reasons, warriors must have a very wide range of skills. All warriors in the clan can feed, protect, and shelter their clan. That being said, things run more efficiently when they can focus on one of those things. For that reason, warriors are split up into three categories:
Providers: These warriors provide food for the clan. They hunt large game such as deer, boar, and elk. For this they hunt in groups, carrying bows and spears. They can sometimes track herds for several days before returning to camp with their kills. They also hunt smaller game such as rabbits and birds by setting snares. Lastly, they fish in the rivers and ponds in the territory.
Guards: Charged with protecting the clan, these warriors train daily to improve their skill with a variety of weapons such as spears, bows, hatchets, machetes, and throwing knives. They patrol the territory daily to protect against Nettleclan. They also accompany hunting parties to protect against predators (bears, wolves, other humans, mountain lions, lynxs, moose) and will travel with the leaders and medicinemen on their outings as well.
Craftsmen: Humans require large shelters, so the craftsmen are very important members of the clan. They build the mudbrick and river stone houses which protect the clan against the elements. They can also create weapons, craft jewelry, repair items, and gather the necessary materials.
Again, all of the warriors are trained to accomplish all of these tasks. In times of crisis, craftsmen become guards, guards become providers, etc. Their title merely references how they spend the majority of their time. Mothers and elders help the clan run by weaving textiles and tanning leather for clothing. They often busy their hands with the creation of jewelry made of feathers, beads, precious rocks, and shells.
Apprentices (or "colts") from the age of 9 to 13 are trained in all of the duties by their mentors. This is to ensure they are well rounded and also that they respect the roles of their fellow warriors. By the age of 13, they must select the area in which they would like to specialize in order to continue their training. Sometimes this means being assigned a mentor who has more knowledge of their preferred area. They will graduate to the rank of warrior only once the leader deems them ready, which is typically between the ages of 16-19 years.

Territory
Viperclan territory is quite vast. It is a three day-long walk from one end to the other, or a day long ride on horseback. The camp is in the center of the territory, in an area called the "moor" or "meadow." This part of the territory is covered in tall grasses and wildflowers bloom there in greenleaf. Several streams cut through the territory, which can be used for fishing by the providers. The most frequently used stream is to the west, a couple miles away, and is called "Slow Stream." Further to the west, with another stretch of land between, is a wide river that marks the western border of the territory.
The mountains to the east and to the north also mark the territory, as well as the lake to the south. Through the center of the territory, a bit to the east of camp, is another notable stream called "Red Stream" because the runoff from the mountains makes it muddy in newleaf. It has a large island between two of its tributaries, which contains a forest good for hunting rabbits and deer. The far eastern side of the territory is another moor where the elk like to roam in leafbare.
The mountains directly north of camp are steep and difficult to climb, but some of their peaks grow flowers that cannot be found at lower elevation, so the medicine men frequent them in the warmer months.
Camp
Viperclan's camp is on the moors near the middle of their territory. The moors can be quite windswept at times, but the camp itself is sheltered next to a few hills. There is a small spring that trickles out from between the hills, where the clan can get fresh water and wash clothes. A number of both deciduous and coniferous trees guard the camp from intruders, as well as natural rose thickets. Beneath the hills is the largest of the mudhouses, belonging to the leader's family. It is different from the rest as it has an attached overhang used to shelter up to three horses. To the left of that is the medicine man's house, which is large enough to house up to six people. Its front-facing all is covered in a flowering vine it also has a fenced in garden. Directly across from it, to the right of the leader's house, is the spring.
The rest of the mudhouses belong to the families of the clan. They are typically just large enough for five to seven people to sleep comfortably, and each has its own fireplace to heat the homes in leafbare. Some of the homes have gardens, others have spaces to tie up a horse or store tools. Young warriors tend to live with their parents until their families outgrow a space. If a person does not have a family, they sometimes live with others their age or other family-less members of the clan. The houses of the camp are very simple and do not have much space for anything besides sleeping.
Most activities are done outside, and the center of the camp is a dedicated space for cooking around the main fire. Clanmates tend to sit on large rocks to chat or go about their daily tasks such as crafting.

Rules
Here are a few things to keep in mind before joining Viperclan. If you do not think you can abide by these, it would probably be best if you joined a different roleplay.
1. Literacy: This is a semi-advanced to advanced roleplay. While posts of four or five paragraphs are sufficient, keep in mind that a level of detail and attention is expected in posts. Typos are expected and okay, but please try to make your characters complex and your plots nuanced.
2. Activity: I as much as anyone know that activity can be difficult when you have things going on in your real life. None of us can see the future, but perhaps avoid joining if you expect you will be unable to contribute to the roleplay regularly. This is especially true if you involve yourself in important plots or claim necessary roles.
3. Realism: This is a fictional roleplay which does not take place in any real place or time. That being said, please do not make characters with unnatural physical attributes or abilities. People of any existing race, color, sexuality, or shape are completely fair play. Make all characters sufficiently flawed while also keeping in mind the physically demanding nature of their lives.
4. Maturity: Though the content will be more or less the same as the warrior cat books, human material tends to feel more mature by nature. Try not to write material that will get us in trouble. But also don't join if you fear things will be beyond your level of comfort.
5. Godmodding: Please do not control other people's characters in your posts.
6. Character Making: There is no character limit for this roleplay, but please air on the side of "a-few-quality-characters" rather than "a-ton-of-one-dimensional-characters." Also leave enough important plots and ranks open for others as possible.
