By the end of it Crawley was giving a drunk round of applause, while Noah himself was giving Ives a wide grin. ”That was great! Nobody can beat the original, but you-“ He paused mid sentence as he tried to find the saying he wanted. It took him a bit, but after the momentary silence, he continued, ”gave it a run for its money!” There, that’s the saying he had wanted.
Ives blushed a little, rubbing the back of his head as he gave a “awh shucks” gesture. “You guys really think so?” He asked sheepishly. “I’m still not very good at singing, not like Nori, but I think I’ve gotten a bit better over time,” he admitted.
Ives wiggled excitedly, like a dog wagging their tail, at the compliments. “If you liked that, you should see the whole band at some point, we’re so good together,” he said with a grin.
Meanwhile, Beau, who had been waiting in the back, tipped his head to the side and stepped forward. “So you guys go to Frontier?” He asked, looking them over, trying to figure out if he had seen them before.

”You’ll have to let us know when you play next,” Noah commented, eager to hear the whole band together now. ”If I’m not busy, I’d love to see you play. Actually,” Noah stopped and looked around, ”do you have a pen and paper?”
While Noah dealt with that, Crawley focused his attention on the next question. He was starting to sober up just a bit, becoming a little more coherent. ”I do,” he answered Beau. ”Noah doesn’t, though.”
Ives tipped his head to the side, looking over at Noah curiously. “Paper? Oh yeah, yeah, uh, sure, lemme just-“ he reached across his guitar and stretched a hand across the coffee table, grabbing around until he found some paper and a pen, giving them towards Noah. “Okay here you go,” he said.
Beau looks over at Crawley. “What’s your major? I don’t think I’ve seen you around before,” Beau explained. “I’m a history major.”

Noah took the pen and paper as soon as Ives handed it over to him. Instantly he wrote down his number, handing the paper back to Ives once he finished. ”My number,” he explained. ”Shoot me a text or something when you’re playing.” He honestly wanted to go to one of their performances if he could. He obviously wouldn’t be able to go if he was at work, but if he wasn’t then he would do his best to show up.
To be honest, Crawley was sure he had never noticed Beau around the school either, but it seemed like they had totally different studies and probably never went to the same buildings for classes. ”I do digital art, so I’m not really in a lot of history classes or anything.” He had to take a few just for credits and whatnot, but even then it was just two, maybe three, of those classes altogether.
Ives blinked, staring down at the paper in his hands. He hadn’t ever had someone want to hear him play before...well he had, but not like this, not in the whole “here’s my number” thing like this. It was...nice. “Thanks,” Ives said, smiling as he looked over at Noah. “I’ll be sure to give you a call.”
Beau nodded. “I’m not...super artistic, it makes sense we haven’t seen each other around much,” he agreed. “I doubt you would’ve seen Thaddeus or Norman either, Thad’s gonna go to med school once he’s done here and Norman’s a criminal justice major,” he explained simply.

For Noah giving out his number was pretty normal. He was a sociable guy, somebody who definitely felt more energized when he had a crowd around with him. Most of the time he was off doing something with Crawley, and their friend group tended to be the same, but it was also nice to have somebody to potentially meet up with that wasn’t Crawley. ”My phone’s usually always on, and I check it pretty regularly unless something is happening at work.” It wasn’t hard to get ahold of Noah, and if he couldn’t answer right away he more than likely would within the hour.
Crawley squinted in thought before shaking his head. Yeah, he didn’t know of a Thaddeus or Norman, either. He was rather social inside the school, and outside as well, but Frontier was large, there was no way even Crawley could get around to knowing everybody.
Though, as he thought about it, he wondered if maybe Kristoffer, who had stayed back at the apartment rather than head to the party, would know Thaddeus. Medical students and biology students shared similar classes, right? ”There might be a chance you’ll know my brother, or your friend might. Kristoffer’s not the most social, though...” He trailed off, wondering if his twin even had the ability to make a friend on his own.
Ives nodded in understand. “Okay yeah, and if you ever wanted to call or text me, I’m pretty much always available, other than during performances but uh, street performers usually can pause to check their phones,” he explained, smiling for a moment before he realized that while he had Noah’s number, Noah didn’t have his. “Oh! Did you want my number back?” He asked
Beau thought about it for a moment. Kristoffer...he didn’t think he knew him. “Thaddeus might, I can ask, what’s your last name?” He asked as he looked back towards Crawley.

Right, if Ives wanted Noah to get in touch first he would need the other guy’s number. ”Sure,” he responded. He could always just save Ives’s number into his phone if Ives made contact first, but there was the chance that Ives never called or texted, and Noah did want to keep in contact.
”Fox,” Crawley answered easily. ”It’s a pretty cool last name, huh?” A smirk pulled at his lips as if that would make himself look cool as well when in reality it probably just made him look like an idiot.
Ives nodded and quickly scribbled his own number down on a paper to give to him. “Here-“ he said, pausing for a moment as he looked at the paper in his hand, laughing. “This is kinda old fashioned isn’t it?” He asked, gesturing towards the papers.
Beau couldn’t help but laugh lightly when Crawley bragged about his last name. “It’s pretty cool, but I think I might have you beat,” he warned quietly. “My last name is Wolff,” he explained, arms folded. What were the odds? A wolf and a fox.

Okay, that was pretty funny to think about. Passing a piece of paper to one another with their numbers on it was pretty old-fashioned. That was probably something his parents had done. Or, something they might have done if there had been actual love and whatnot involved there.
"Yeah, it is," Noah laughed, looking at the paper Ives had given to him. "But old fashioned or not, it works, ja?"
Crawley was ready to be underwhelmed when Beau first mentioned how he had Crawley beat, but he had to admit, Wolff was a pretty hecking cool last name. "That is cool," Crawley agreed. "But foxes are still better, I mean, they're sly and cunning. Wolves are stronger, I guess, but too mainstream these days." Not the he had anything against that, but as an art major, he couldn't even begin to count how many times he had somebody ask him to draw their cringy wolf fursona. Not that he had anything against furries either, but, he wasn't really about to spend all of his free time drawing fursonas for people for free.
Ives gave a lopsided smile, nodding in agreement. “Yeah, it is, but it still works,” he agreed and glanced down at the paper Noah had given him, smiling at it. He liked to think he was a social, friendly guy, and typically clicked with people, but this time, Noah had taken a genuine interest in his music, and that...that was nice.
Beau laughed slightly. “I guess that’s true, though foxes are pretty mainstream too,” he commented. Especially after Zootopia, people loved their fox ocs after that movie, and how did Beau know this? He was also a fan of Zootopia, he knew this stuff.

There was a part of Noah that didn’t want the conversation to end, he was enjoying himself, but at the same time it probably was getting late, and he had no idea if his newfound friend had any plans for the next day that involved him getting up early. Besides, trading numbers seemed like a good place to end. They could pick up where they left off at least. ”I’ve had fun, tonight was nice even if we didn’t stick to the party.”
Beau did have a point there. ”Yeah, but you still see more wolves,” he replied back with a simple shrug. While he’d admit that Wolff was a cool last name, Crawley wasn’t ready to admit that Fox could be beaten.
Ives nodded in agreement. “Yeah, it was fun, I didn’t actually spend much time at the party, but I liked it, plus it’s not every day I meet another country fan,” he said, placing his guitar on the couch as he got up to his feet. “I’ll be sure to let you know the next time I’m playing,” he told him.
Beau did have to give him that, he wasn’t wrong. “Alright true, I can’t really say I blame them though, wolves are pretty cool,” he said as he looked towards Crawley, pausing for a moment when it seemed like Ives and Noah’s conversation was nearing an end. “Are you guys heading out?”

For as much as he’d love to stay, Noah knew their time together was coming to an end. At least he had Ive’s number and Ives had his, so this wasn’t the forever end for that. ”We probably should get going,” Noah replied, looking over at Crawley who glanced between him and Beau before giving a slight nod of agreement.
Ives and Beau nodded in understanding, with Ives getting up to his feet to see them to the door. “This was fun! Maybe next time you’ll get to properly meet Nori and Thad too,” Ives offered with a lopsided smile as he showed them out the door.
Post by Feathertalon on Jun 6, 2021 4:51:13 GMT -5
”I’d love to meet them,” Noah responded back as he and Crawley headed toward the door.
Crawley nodded. ”Yeah, and maybe next time you could meet Kristoffer, too.” Though that was a big maybe, Kristoffer wasn’t the bigger fan of getting out and being social, but maybe he’d like this group of people. They didn’t seem like the kind Kristoffer would shy away from.
Right before heading out, Noah stopped and turned to quickly look over at Ives, a faint smile on his face. ”Seeya around.” He waited a few seconds more before finally turning and stepping out the door, Crawley right behind him.
A couple days later, Ives was standing at a corner of the street, playing his guitar. He hadn’t made much yet, but hey, a dollar was a dollar, even if it was only a dollar...he paused for a moment, looking around. Yeah, nobody was even stopping by. He looked around for a moment longer before grabbing his phone and hitting Noah’s number, sending a quick text that said “hey I don’t know if you’re available but I’m playing at the corner of [street name] if you wanna drop by” and hesitated for a moment before sending it.

Fortunately Noah had the day off. As soon as he heard his phone go off he checked it, excitement rushing through him when he noticed it was from Ives. He instantly sent a message back. ’I’ll be there soon!’ All he had to do was get dressed and head on out, it wouldn’t take him long.
A warm excitement flooded through Ives when he got the text. Smiling at his phone for a moment, he put it down and glanced around the street again and started to play, this time a little happier than before.

Not too long after having sent the text, Noah was on his way. He would have brought Crawley and Kristoffer along as well, but they were both in class, so that left just him. It wasn’t long until he has made it, and the sound of music told him where exactly to go. He stopped once he saw Ives, standing there and listening while he played.
Ives spotted Noah in the distance and smiled in greeting towards him, however he didn’t stop until the song was finished, afterwards he put Alberto down and walked over to him. “Hey! You came!” He said excitedly.

A wide smile came across Noah’s face. ”Of course I did. I wouldn’t lie about coming.” As he spoke he dug around in his pocket for a moment until he pulled out a rather crumpled twenty dollar bill; he handed it out to Ives. ”It’s not a lot, the performance was worth more.”
Ives blinked, staring down at what was obviously a 20 dollar bill. Instantly he shook his head. “I couldn’t take that much, really,” he said, gesturing with his hands and shaking his head. Noah should use that 20 dollar bill for something he needs.
Ives looked at him for a little longer, then back to the money, finally he reached out and grabbed it. “Are you sure? I don’t want to put you out,” he said, still a little unsure about taking this much money.

Noah shook his head, chuckling a little. ”You don’t have to worry about that at all.” Sometimes it was a tad bit amusing to see how other people reacted to a simple twenty dollar bill, but at least Ives finally took it.
