Rank all the novellas you have read from best to worst, feel free to add reasons too.
I will be ranking them as well, sharing my reasons, and maybe sharing how I can improve some of these novellas
Here's mine:
Blackfoot's Reckoning: I really am glad I voted for this novella, I love how they set up the story for this novella and learning about Blackstar's past through his nine lives, I find it really clever.
Mothwing's Secret: I really like Mothwing, and I enjoyed what they did with her novella, it was nice seeing her go through the difficulty of her brother Hawkfrost, and losing faith in StarClan, and I love seeing her wanting to become a Med cat and the moment where Leafpool and Willowshine comforting her after learning the death of her brother.
Ravenpaw's Farewell: I love this novella, I adore the relationship between Ravenpaw and Barley, and Bella and Riley are adorable too. But this was sad because Ravenpaw ends up dying ;-;
Tawnypelt's Clan: This was a good novella, probably the only time I enjoyed reading about the Tribe of Rushing Water, I love the Grandma and Grandson relationship between Tawnypelt and Shadowkit.
Daisy's Kin: I love to have a novella for our perma-queen Daisy, I really enjoy her and seeing her struggles in ThunderClan during the whole imposter thing. I enjoyed seeing her help out with Smoky's kits and Mousewhisker's bond with his father Smoky and his half-siblings.
Goosefeather's Curse: I like this novella, we see the struggles Goosefeather has to go through, and he didn't have a choice to become a warrior, and he's trying his best to help his Clan. Poor Goosefeather
Cloudstar's Journey: I liked that we can be at a very different part of the timeline, it feels fresher. I feel bad about all the struggles SkyClan had to go through, shame on the other Clans, and I enjoyed some of the characters like Cloudstar, Birdflight, Tansypaw, Mintpaw, and multiple other characters.
Pinestar's Choice: I liked this novella and Pinestar's struggles with the whole "you need to kill Tigerkit to save the Clans" thing, it's a good plot, and as well as seeing some moments of his past and liking the ways of being a kittypet. I enjoyed the introduction of Firestar's grandmother and Jake. I loved how Pinestar left to be with Shanty's twolegs after her death, it felt nice.
Mapleshade's Vengeance: Again, I love how this book is at a different timeline, it's fresh. I did enjoy this novella but some of this makes some characters look bad, like Appledusk and Oakstar, when it really isn't really exactly their fault for the death of the kits. I like the whole Mapleshade trying to avenge her kits thing too and the way it ended. This novella managed to make me love to hate her, in other words, she's a pretty decent villain.
Hollyleaf's Story: It was nice to see what was going on with Hollyleaf while she hid in the tunnels, I liked the scene with the baby fox, the moments between her and Fallen Leaves, and her wanting to go back to her Clan and helping out in some ways without anyone noticing. I like how it ended too.
Tree's Roots: Another fresh novella and at a completely different culture. I enjoyed seeing how Tree grew up with the Sisters and his struggles of being alone after the death of his best friend. I like his moments with his father, sister, and Pebbleshine.
Tigerclaw's Fury: Our first villain novella, this is a decent book and they did show things from Tigerclaw's eye, I liked that he and his rogues helped ShadowClan just so they can join them, and Tigerclaw getting his way up to becoming a leader. I was a little bothered that Mapleshade was in his thoughts for some parts of the book, wasn't really necessary.
Dovewing's Silence: It was a pretty good wrap-up to the OOTS era, was a bit little slow on some bits but still enjoyable.
Leafpool's Wish: It was a good way to show the gap between TNP and POT, a little bit slow, I felt bad for Squilf since she was lied to by StarClan in order to take the kits, still entertainable. I enjoyed seeing the moments with the three as kits, especially Jaykit and his blindness.
Spotfur's Rebellion: I really like the first half of the novella, I liked how they tried to show Spotfur's rebellious nature during her apprentice hood and the moments between her and Stemleaf, but they could've done better with the second half, it's mostly just bits we have already seen during TBC, they did fine with Spotfur suspecting something was wrong with Bramblestar and the assassination attempt, but they could've done much better. Show some bits of them gathering more cats, have them almost caught from this, show more moments of her mourning Stemleaf.
Pebbleshine's Kits: This novella was entertaining, but it was pretty depressing. I liked Pebbleshine trying to find her way back to SkyClan, I enjoyed her encounters with Bugs and Bunny, Milo, and Olive, and I like how her novella interloped with Tree's Roots. It was depressing though because Pebbleshine tried many ways to find SkyClan and almost gave up on some points and kept on going and mounted to her death almost immediately after giving birth. It had an alright ending with her watching Alderpaw and Needlepaw finding Twigkit and Violetkit.
Thunder(star)'s Echo: It was a pretty good sequel to DOTCs and Mothflight's Vision, but not really that groundbreaking, it was nice seeing Thunderstar's early days as a leader and his bond with Lightning Tail. The plot with the dogs is alright.
Mistystar's Omen: This one was kinda slow with a few chapters, I didn't like the way how Mistystar treated Mothwing even after all the years she's been loyal to her Clan. I did like the beginning and a bit of the end where there's the omen and Misty lets Moth help her save Reedwhisker.
Redtail's Debt: I like this novella, we get to see Redtail's early life, and his suspicion with Tigerclaw but the ending ruined it for me, they messed up real badly like a punch to the gut, this needs a reprint to where Oakheart actually died from the rockslide.
Shadowstar's Life: I like Shadowstar and the plot was alright, but I do not like the way how they kill her off so fast, this is like moons after Thunder's Echo and they decided to kill her off that fast, this could've taken place much farther from how Thunder's Echo taken place, where we can at least be somewhere fresh, and meet new characters, but that didn't happen. And Sun Shadow's death was a repeat of Lightning Tail's death, both Thunderstar and Shadowstar get killed after witnessing their deaths. The plot with Skystar being concerned about his territory being taken from twolegs, was a fine plot, and Shadowstar feeling like someone was trying to kill her, that was a decent plot too, but why did it have to be Quick Water, it would've been a much better if it was someone from Slash's group, maybe even Slash himself, that would make a pretty good sequel for DOTC's and many people including me would like to see an actual proper conclusion to the whole thing with Slash. Have Sun Shadow get killed by one of the rogues, which makes Shadowstar want to avenge him, she can die the same way where her and maybe Sun Shadow's killer injure each other just like the actual novella, heck maybe even have Quick Water join sides with them instead, that would be much more interesting and Shadowstar's death more honorable.
Spottedleaf's Heart: This one is self-explanatory, this novella shouldn't have existed. How would I improve this, remember the sickness from Goosefeather's Curse, bring it back, or literally any sickness. Have Spottedpaw see all her Clan-mates sick and dying, have her be motivated to help them get better, that would make a much better novella than how this abomination turned out.
So yeah, that's my ranking for the novellas. (And oh boy, we have finally reached the 500th page of Warriors General, let's goooooo)
