Coalpaw Coalpaw laughed about Spottedkit needing to knock some sense into Duckkit. She nodded. "I'm sure Snowdapple worried about Wishpaw because she was always getting into trouble and about me because I'm so closed off. I would rather watch other cats than interact with them." Coalpaw said getting a little too introspective for her own liking. She sighed and continued to follow the border.

Brackentail "Flamestar and I were the same way when we were younger." Brackentail stated. "Luckily, we had Rosefur to keep Flamestar from doing anything too reckless, but he always seemed to get into trouble when we were apprentices. He got more responsible as we grew up, probably because he realized what a pain he was being to his mentor and anyone else who got mixed up in his shenanigans." The tom looked up at the sky. The sun would be setting soon. "We should head back to camp now." He meowed.

Coalpaw Coalpaw walked along ththe border listening to Brackentail. "What were you like when you were younger?" She asked her mentor. She had heard plenty about the new leader's antics from the elders but not as much about her mentor. She nodded and turned toward camp when Brackentail said to go back.

Brackentail As they walked back, Bracken tail thought for a moment before replying. "I used to be very quiet. More than I am now." He stated simply. He leapt over a log before continuing. "I used to only really talk to Rosefur and Flamestar, but one day I saw Willowtail eating by herself and I decided to go and eat with her. We became friends and she really helped me get out of my shell. I had liked her for a while, but I didn't know how to go about telling her. I made the mistake of telling Rosefur, who told Flamestar, who ended up telling half the clan, but Willowtail felt the same. One good but awkward conversation later, we decided to be mates."

(Thats a cute story. How'd your interview go?)
Coalpaw Coalpaw smiled and nodded as she made her way back to camp. She thought for a moment. "When we were headed to the Moon Mushrooms Flamestar said we were alike. I had said I don't want to get into unnecessary fights." She purred about the Brackentail and Willowtail love story.

(really well! I think I have a good shot at getting the job!) Brackentail "Flamestar was never one to back down from a fight." Brackentail meowed. "I'm not, nor have I ever been very confrontational. I'll fight if I have to, but if the issue isn't affecting me or the clan enough to cause a problem, I would usually just leave it be or find some other way to deal with it. I was pleasantly surprised when Flamestar announced he was going to be diplomatic with these other cats because I figured he'd end up just driving them away."

(Nice. I start my job sunday and then have 2 days off for dog sitting and an appointment then work again Wednesday. )
Coalpaw Coalpaw nodded. "He stayed pretty calm when the cat leading their patrol got a little nasty. It took another she-cat saying the leader would want to meet with him to get him to conceed." Coalpaw said explaining what had gone down with Red and the other loners. "We don't know how many cats they have to know if we could drive them out either."

(cool! What type of job is it?) Brackentail "I think he learned a lot during his time as deputy." Brackentail responded as they approached the stream. The tom waded across and shook his pelt once he reached the other side. "It's a good thing Thymestar was so level headed, because I doubt that without having Thymestar to lead as an example, Flamestar would probably be much more aggressive of a leader."

I'm a carryout person at Bob Evans.))
Coalpaw Coalpaw crossed the path of a garden snake and jumped as it startled her. She laughed it off since it was a harmless snake. "Thymestar must have known he would get more level headed as time went on or at least hoped he would. I think Flamestar will be a great leader for a long time." She added for a long time because she wasn't ready for Basilstar yet.

(You'll probably have more control of your hours than me. I'm doing a paid internship at a construction management business so I'll probably be pretty set to 9 to 5 monday through friday.) Brackentail Brackentail let out an amused snort as Coalpaw jumped. "Too bad we're not on a hunting patrol. I've never tried snake before." He heard Turtleheart remark. He watched the snake slither off before continuing. "I think Thymestar made the right decision. I think Crowflight might be a little too nice to be leader and out of Flamestar, myself and Rosefur, he is definitely the best fitted for leadership. And you," He stated, dipping his head towards Turtleheart. "Were pregnant with Lionpaw and Eaglepaw, so Thymestar obviously couldn't pick you." He was going to say more, but he was interrupted by a loud growl from his stomach. "Hopefully the fresh-kill pile is well stocked when we get back. I'm famished."

At least you'll get 40 hrs a week I'll only get 37 at most. And I work weekends)
Coalpaw "Crowflight was too young too I think. He hadn't been a warrior long enough to have an apprentice yet. Or at least it seems like it." Coalpaw said with a blush not wanting to get too deep into clan politics. "Basilwhisker seems to be stepping into his new role pretty well. I mean he's sent out patrols and not the same cats twice." She didn't know what else to say so she just kept walking.

(I couldn't work weekends anyways because I volunteer on weekends, but yeah. working weekends would be kinda rough.) Brackentail "True." Brackentail agreed. "I keep thinking Crowflight is older than he is." In the distance, the tom could see the outer brambles that made up the camp walls. He picked up his pace a little, though not too fast so as to leave the other two behind. "Basilwhisker was the natural choice." He stated. "If I were Flamestar, I would've chosen him too. He's bound to do well as deputy."

Coalpaw The apprentice nodded. "I think you would have made a good deputy too. You could tone down any more fiery points in Flamestar's personality." She blushed again and changed the subject. "WWishpaw said that Basilwhisker taught Rosefur to fish this morning." She said nonchalantly. Though the way her sister said it they seemed to be getting to be more than friends.

Brackentail "Oh, he did, did he?" Brackentail asked. "I never even knew Basilwhisker could fish. I wonder why he would..." The tom fell silent for a moment as a smile crept up on his face. "I bet I know what's going on." He glanced over at Coalpaw. "If my intuition is right, it seems like you might have your first apprentice sooner rather than later!" (looks like everyone's gonna know what's going on before those two do lol.)

Coalpaw Coalpaw giggled at Brackentail's statement. "I'd like to learn to fish."she said completely ignoring the point that Basilwhisker was flirting with Rosefur. She thought about how she could mentor one of their kits if they had some aand smiled. "Do you really think they like each other?" She asked naively

Brackentail "I'd almost be willing to stake a moon of night time patrols on it." He stated, sounding rather convinced. "I'll have to ask her, though I doubt she'll be forthcoming about it. At least she'll know the clan is talking so she won't get caught off guard if she hears things. She'd be mad if I didn't tell her."

Coalpaw Coalpaw nodded as they came up to camp. "I think Wishpaw would be mad at me too if there was a rumor that she liked someone and I didn't tell her before someone else." She finished the statement before walking into camp. She nodded to Palerose and Lichenheart who were layibg near the entrance to camp talking about something.

Brackentail As they walked into camp, Brackentail dipped his head to the apprentice. "I'm going to go let Flamestar and Basilwhisker know we're back." With that, he headed to the leader's den. "Flamestar, you in there?" "Yes." Came back a groggy voice. Flamestar cleared his throat and padded out of the den. "I take it you three didn't have any issues?" "None." Brackentail replied. "No signs of intruders or anything else that'd cause trouble for us." Flamestar "Good." The ginger tom replied. He looked around the camp, spotting both Coalpaw and Turtleheart. "Why don't you go get something to eat. There's still some fish left, courtesy of Rosefur and Basilwhisker." "You heard about that too, huh?" Brackentail replied. "Do you think it means what I think it means?" The ginger tom laughed. "What, that the clan might have a few new members before long? I wouldn't doubt it." "Well, whatever happens, I hope Rosefur is happy." Brackentail replied. "I should probably go talk with her, see where her head's at." "Alright." Flamestar mewed. He stretched for a moment as he watched Brackentail head over to the fresh-kill pile, preparing himself for what laid ahead. "I hope I'm right. For all their sakes."

Coalpaw Coalpaw nodded to Brackentail and headed off to the freshkill pile. She saw the fish that had been caught and under it was a small vole. It had a fishy scent to it but she didn't mind. She went over and layed near the apprentice's den. She ate her vole quickly.
Basilwhisker The deputy got up as the patrol came back and he paced back and forth waiting for Crowflight and the others to be ready. He was anxiously awaiting the meeting.
Crowflight Crowflight was napping under the guardian oak when Basilwhisker's pacing woke him. He got up and went to sit near the other warrior to wait for Cloudear and Flamestar.
Waspbite and Lillyfern Waspbite was looking out across the water when he realized it was getting late. He called to Lillyfern who was nearby and had her wait. He then walked up to Snowy and cleared his throat. "I was hoping you would come with Pine, Lillyfern, and I to the meeting tonight.
Lillyfern came when she was called and sat near the leader's nest waiting for him.

Flamestar Flamestar noticed that Crowflight and Basilwhisker had already gathered, preparing for the meeting. The ginger tom made his way over to the medicine cat's den and poked his head in. "Cloudear, it's time." "Alright." She replied. "I'll be right out." The leader headed to where the other two were waiting. "Cloudear should be just a moment." He informed them. Cloudear Cloudear stretched and headed out of the medicine den. She spotted the others and made her way over. "I'm ready." She announced. Flamestar dipped his head to her. "Good, let's get going, then." The ginger tom took point as they headed to the meeting. (I'm gonna write up the brackentail-Rosefur dialogue seperately.) Snowy Snowy stood up, looking at Waspbite in surprise. "Oh, really? Sure!" She was caught off guard by the leader's request. "So Red isn't going, then?" She asked. She wasn't surprised. The second in command nearly ruined any chances at talking with these cats last time, so it was probably for the best that he didn't come to the meeting.

Brackentail Brackentail grabbed one of the fish off the fresh-kill pile and spotted Rosefur near the Guardian Oak, grooming herself. He carried the fish over and plopped down next to her. "So, I heard you went fishing today." The tom stated casually, not wanting to somehow irritate her. He took a bite of the fish. "Yeah, Basilwhisker showed me how." She replied. "It was actually pretty fun." She continued to groom herself, licking her paw and drawing it back over her ear. "About that." Brackentail meowed, lowering his voice so no one else would overhear. "There's been some whispers around camp." "What do you mean?" She asked. She paused her grooming and tilted her head. "Like rumors?" "Yeah." Brackentail replied. "Everyone's noticed that you and Basilwhisker have gotten kind of close recently and..." Rosefur Rosefur cut him off. "And what?" She asked rhetorically. "Basilwhisker's just a friend. He showed me how to fish because I wanted to learn and he wanted to help me." She stated, though she stammered a little. "Is it me you're trying to convince, or yourself?" Brackentail asked. "You know both Flamestar and I are on your side no matter what, we just want to make sure you're happy." Rosefur sighed. "I don't know." She said, exasperation in her voice. "I think I like him, but I never pictured myself in a situation like this. I always thought I'd just be a warrior and stay focused on my warrior duties, not mooning over some tom or raising kits." "It's not like you can't go back to being a warrior after you have kits." Brackentail pointed out. "Turtleheart's already back on duty and I know Willowtail wants to too, once the kits are apprenticed. It's obviously not mine or anyone else's decision, but I'd hate to see you make one you're going to regret." "I'll think about it." Rosefur replied. "I need some time to go over everything." "That's fine." Brackentail reassured. "If you ever want to talk, I'm here. Flamestar's obviously a bit more occupied, but I'm sure he'd make time for you as well." The tom took one last bite of the fish. "I'm going to go see if Willowtail wants the rest of this." He said as he stood. Rosefur stood up too, arching her back. "Alright, you go do that." She meowed. "And thanks." "Any time." The tom replied as he carried the fish over towards the nursery. Rosefur watched as her littermate walked away, then looked down at her paws. "What am I going to do?" She asked herself, shaking her head slowly. (yay, drama!)

Basilwhisker and Crowflight Basilwhisker nodded and then followed behind Flamestar. He fell back with Crowflight and went over the plan one more time with him. That they would fall back to the tree bridge after they were sure that Cloudear had escaped. That was if there was a fight. He calmed his nerves by hummming quietly.
Crowflight followed behind Basilwhisker and nodded when the deputy came back and confirmed he knew the plan. He then fell back into place behind the deputy as he sped back up.
Waspbite "Good. No I thought I better leave him behind. I want things to go smoothly tonight." Waspbite said with a purr. He looked serious as he talked about the meeting. "We don't know what to expect so be ready for a fight if push comes to shove."

Flamestar Flamestar was quiet as they walked, his mind focused on the meeting. His mind wandered between the different possible outcomes of this meeting and the importance of what he was about to do. When they reached the tree bridge, Flamestar paused for a moment to bunch his hind legs underneath him and push off the ground, landing squarely on the tree. Cloudear Cloudear followed in suit, gracefully landing on the log, just behind Flamestar. She trotted along, her head held high. She knew that, no matter what happened, everyone there would do their best for the clan, so there was no point in worrying now. Snowy "Of course." Snowy replied, respectfully dipping her head to Waspbite. "That being said, I don't think these cats are wanting a fight either. Especially after that one helped with Spider's fox bite." The she-cat took a quick glance over at Spider.

Basilwhisker and Crowflight The two warriors followed behind both Flamestar and Cloudear. In turn they jumped up on the tree bridge and walked across neither one slipping. They jumped down and waited at the other side for Flamestar to lead on.
Waspbite and Lillyfern Waspbite nodded happily. "I'm glad someone else thinks tonight will go well. I wonder what they want from us though." He looked at Snowy contemplating what he would do and say.
Lillyfern got up and came over to where Pine was at and dipped her head in greeting. "Waspbite wants us to get ready to leave." She said. Sitting down she wrapped her tail around her paws.

Flamestar As the group neared the Warrior Oak, Flamestar broke the silence. "Keep an eye out for anything strange. If you see something off, don't be afraid to speak up. We don't want to walk into an ambush." The leader pushed on. He ducked underneath a low-hanging branch, his back brushing up against its rough bark. Cloudear Cloudear nodded at Flamestar's order, perking her ears up. She couldn't hear anything abnormal, though she wasn't usually out of camp this far, so she wouldn't typically be the first to notice if something was different. Snowy "Who knows." Snowy murmured. She then spoke up, making her voice more clear. "Hopefully they're willing to share what they know about medicine, though. If spider's wound gets infected, I don't think there's anything any of us could do for him." She watched as Pine and Lilyfern talked. Pine Pine lifted her head to took at Lilyfern. "Okay." She said, returning the nod. The she-cat stood and stretched her hind legs. She looked over to where Waspbite and Snowy were talking. "Are we leaving right now?"

Basilwhisker Basilwhisker scented the air and started walking a perimeter around the Warrior Oak . He checked around and up into trees and anywhere a cat could hide. When je smelled nothing but prey he made his way back to the group. "I don't think they're here yet nor does it smell like they've been here in a few days."
Waspbite and Lillyfern Waspbite sat there for a second and pondered what they could give in rrturn for the medical knowledge. "How is Spider doing? I noticed you were helping him out." He asked not knowing how much the she-cat cared for the tom.
Lillyfern nodded. "Yeah I think they are probably discussing possible outcomes of the meeting." She started to walk away toward the leader and Snowy.

Flamestar "Good." Flamestar replied, nodding. "That means they likely won't have an ambush set up if they haven't even scouted the area." The ginger tom looked around between the group. "Well, I guess we wait and see if they actually show up." In his impatience, Flamestar perked his ears up, making sure to be alert for the other cats. Snowy "He's healing up well." She replied with a nod. "He's still got a while until he's ready to resume normal duties and there's still a chance that his bite could get infected, but it's definitely better than it was two days ago. Web and I have been making sure to give him that herb she told us to use and so far, no infection." Pine Pine turned to follow Lillyfern as the she-cat headed towards Waspbite. She tried to listen in on what Snowy and Waspbite were saying, but only caught the end of what Snowy was saying. She respectfully dipped her head to Waspbite. (how was your first day?)

Basilwhisker The tom nodded and sat down to wait as well flicking his tail as he did. He seemed a little impatient but utterly calm. He paused his tail thrashing to listen and scent the air.
Waspbite Waspbite nodded. "Good. I don't want him going back to his duties until he's fully healed. No matter what others might say about him." He dipped his head back to Pine as she showed up and looked at the entrance to camp. "We better get going. Those other cats are probably already there."

Flamestar Flamestar unsheathed his claws, feeling his nails dig into the soft ground below, before retracting them again. He did this a few more times as he waited for any sign of the other cats. Cloudear Cloudear sat with one paw on the other. She remained relatively still and her gaze occasionally scanned the trees, her senses alert. Snowy Snowy didn't reply, but she was glad that Waspbite shared her sentiment. The last thing Spider needed to do was reagitate the wound. She watched as Pine and Lillyfern walked up and prepared to leave. Pine Pine scratched her ear. "Let's get going, then. We don't want them leaving before we get there." She responded, waiting for the group to move so she could bring up the rear. (understandable. Take out counters seem like a very "I'm waiting for the next person to show up" type of job. How busy was the restaurant?)

( it was hopping. We had to shut off online ordering because they were coming in faster than the cooks could get food out. They also had me as a second person so the first person did all the work really. They kind of expected me to be more ready than I was since I've been trained for two years but I don't feel ready to go without help. Its like everything had been moved around.)
Basilwhisker and Crowflight Basilwhisker streched and sighed. "Maybe they aren't coming. But I guess its not quite time yet." He flitted his tail a couple times and sat back down.
Crowflight began to pace scenting the air as he went.
Waspbite and Lillyfern Waspbite nodded. He led the way to the gnarled tree that his second in command said was the meeting spot. He scented the air as they headed in that direction.
Lillyfern took the rear position of the group. She followed behind the others scenting the air for any threats. She yawned and sighed as she wasn't very keen about going to this meeting.
