BNA. Maybe a year before the events of the show. It doesn't require you to watch the show. I can pretty much lay out the entire setting.
Modern day but with a twist. As long as people can remember, there has been a division between the people of the world. Both groups want to live their lives normally, yet feel threatened by the other's presence. The humans, the predominant race on earth, which make up a vast majority of the population, live their everyday lives the same as you or I. They go to school, work, etc. On the other side of things are the beastmen. Though at first glance they seem human, the two groups are very different. Beastmen are a different species entirely from homosapiens. They possess the ability to switch between two forms, a human form and their beast form. In their beast form, beastmen are stronger, faster and more in tune with their senses than humans. For centuries, humans have exiled, persecuted and killed beastmen simply for being themselves.
Great strides have been made to protect beastmen, however. Recently, with the help of the Japanese prime minister, a city has been created on an island off the coast of mainland japan. Barbara Rose, the founder and mayor of Anima City, advertises the city for what it is; a safe haven made by beastmen for beastmen. At long last, beastmen have a place where they can be themselves without fear of harm.

I'm not looking for paragraphs upon paragraphs per response, but I would prefer it if you could keep it at around 4 sentences at least per post. I've found that short responses are hard to respond to, especially if they're lacking in detail.

Nope! The setting is pretty basic and I'm not going off of any residual plot from the show, so you should be fine. I think the biggest thing is just understanding the situation and how the beastmen work. Their transformation is pretty much like my profile pic, where they kinda just transform suddenly. When they're in their beastform, they typically take after the abilities of their animal, so a dog is gonna have a great sense of smell, a cat is gonna be super quiet and stealthy, a monkey is gonna have a lot of slight of hand, etc. Characters also tend to take after their beastform personality wise. For example, a monkey might just be a common thief, a bear might be kinda lazy, etc. (Also, I love your status. Thick as Thieves is probably one of their better songs from threat to survival, though I also really liked misfits.)

Most beastforms are pretty standard, some are weaker than others, like a raccoon beastman isn't gonna be able to go toe to toe with a lion beastman, etc. there's a gang that operates within anima city which conducts multiple illegal operations including but not limited to baseball gambling rackets, weapon smuggling and human trafficking. I can't think of any limits for the main characters, as they all have their own advantages and disadvantages. For example, the character I have in mind is a melanistic gray wolf, which would make his fur in his beastform black. His most impactful ability would be a keen sense of smell and good hearing.
I completely forgot about State of My Head. I actually got to see that performed in concert at 98-rockfest in Tampa. (it's a radio station, not 1998 lol)

Yeah, picking the animal is fun. I ended up with a melanistic wolf because I thought it'd be cool. Either way works for me, though pm will probably allow me to respond quicker since I get a visual notification for it.
They were really cool. It was like a week before attention attention dropped, so they had a giant canvas over the stage with the album cover projected on it, then they opened with sound of madness. then when they performed State of my Head, Brent Smith gave a bit of a monologue before the song that was really cool. They also ended up splitting the floor down the middle and started running through the crowd giving people high fives and stuff.

Lol I get you. The character I am using now was originally gonna be a mountain lion but I decided against it because it didn't quite fit his personality. Something that might help you figure out what animal to use would to figure out their human form and their personality first, then figure out what animal corresponds the best to that. I also sent the pm so we can transition over to there whenever you want.
Oof. I was like 15 at the time so my dad took me. We also almost got mugged at a gas station on the way back and got out of a 20 mph speeding ticket, but that's two whole other stories. lol. Down here in florida covid isn't as big of an issue as most places. Desantis has done a pretty good job handling the state economically so we are bouncing back a lot faster than others and have very low per capita deaths due to immunizing the old people first.

lol
The whole day kind of felt like a fever dream lol. I feel like Georgia might have a little economic trouble due to a bunch of companies trying to boycott the state for their voting law thing (and are then going to states that have more strict voting laws than Georgia. dumb.) but I haven't heard anything on covid or economics from Alabama.
