That all sounds good to me - the gender locks were always pretty silly. Like why switch pegasus knight back to female-only after Fates??? There are a lot of classes, I'm not entirely sure how to explain/word them on the main thread. Or maybe I don't need to? If everyone is already familiar with the class-system, I guess there wouldn't be a need for that. Or I could make a separate thread explaining classes and link it on the main thread? Hm.

Are you familiar with Serenes Forest? Its got a list of all the classes, among other things. But I guess you'd still need to explain how the system works. Anyway, here's the list I'm talking about. If nothing else we can use that to explain what each class is good for.
(and maybe we can make some changes to some of the Master Classes so they're not a downgrade? Looking at you, Mortal Savant.)

Well, classes aren't going to be adhering exactly to the originals anyway as I don't think it would rp well if we hyper-focused on stats. We could change a couple of things in regards to skills learnt and just overall viability for classes like Mortal Savant (because that class definitely didn't live up to anyone's expectations ha)
Thanks for the link. Serenes Forest is a super handy resource and sometimes I forget that this forum allows outside links ^^

Yeah, makes sense. We wouldn't want to have to focus on stats, at least not to that extend. Maybe just a general rule that Master Classes are just more powerful, faster etc. than the lower ones, no need for specific numbers. Oh, and are Dancers a thing? Sure, we can't really do that "move twice" thing since this is an rp but maybe it can have other benefits? Then again it would be a bit weird to have someone dance in the middle of a battlefield. Yup, I just thought we could make use of it ^^ Especially when it comes to skills and magic.
One more thing, how are we gonna handle healing magic? I know it can't be used on the person who's casting it but maybe we could change that for the rp. Or we come up with an explanation as to why people can't just heal themselves.

Oh, yes. Master > Advanced > Intermediate etc. In regards to dancers, I was wondering if maybe they could count as a magic user. Kind of an energising magic - giving a character that extra push which in gameplay terms, would equal an extra move. I think dancers would have to have something else to do other than well ... dancing. A dancer could wield or sword or use white magic or do both, something that stops them from just being that person who dances on the battlefield. It depends if someone makes a dancer character, really. I'm happy to work out the details with them.
I think healing magic should be usable on yourself as well as others. It works well as a gameplay mechanic, but not so much in rp, where there isn't much reason why healers can't be healing their own wounds (though, I would like to keep a limit on it and on magic usage as a whole). If anyone can suggest a reason why their healing would only work on others, I'm happy to change this. In a similar vein, magic in general, is only really used on the battlefield in Fe if I remember correctly. Should magic be able to do more than it does in-game?

Hi, Matfish! Sure. Are you fairly familiar with how Three Houses operates? It isn't strictly necessary to, but it might help avoid confusion haha

Is it much diferent from other FE games?

There are some differences - different classes and the setting for example. There will be a map for the latter though.

Ah, classes. That might be a problem. Do they just add new ones or change old ones?

A bit of both I think. Pineclaw dropped a link to all the various classes further up if you want to look!

I mean what classes?

Post by Sussuru on Mar 10, 2021 8:00:32 GMT -5
Whatever you want that isn't one of the enemy classes. Everyone (apart from professors and potentially church staff) will start in noble/commoner class, then move up to a beginner class, then to a corresponding intermediate, advanced and master class. eg. noble -> soldier -> cavalier -> paladin -> great knight

In a similar vein, magic in general, is only really used on the battlefield in Fe if I remember correctly. Should magic be able to do more than it does in-game? Agreed on the dancer part! Some magic and a weapon would make dancers more practical. While I don't really have one planned my Black Eagles character might become one at some point. I'm not sure about that yet, though. There are other good classes for her, after all, but she's the only one of my characters who actually has an interest in dancing and is either good at it or will turn out to be a fast learner. You know, in case we want to do the White Heron Cup. Yeah, it makes more sense if they can heal themselves. As for limits, I'm sure we can figure them out. And I think magic should also be used outside of battle. It can be used for all kinds of stuff but there will be rules for it, I think. Even if it's just something like "no setting the classroom on fire".

The White Heron Cup, The Ball, The Mock Battle and The Battle of the Eagle and Lion are some of the monthly events that I plan to keep if that helps ^^
I'm thinking magic is pretty tiring to perform + most units won't have a strong grip on it at the start. That'll help keep things controlled. But, yes, "no setting the classroom on fire" is a good guideline and one that will most likely be drummed into their heads by the professors!

Hooray for that, then! Especially the Mock Battle and The Battle of the Eagle and Lion.
Aside from learning more spells later on I'd also think that even the simpler spells would become stronger over time. But yeah, it should be tiring to perform, especially at the start of their training. As for guidelines, I guess there will also be something along the lines of not attacking other students or church staff. Just some safety stuff in general.

Agreed. One more note about classes is that since house leaders get their own unique ones, I'm happy for anyone playing a house leader to create their final class. That is, unless they'd rather use Dimitri, Edelgard or Claude's - those could be repurposed if need be. Ember34

Are there other roles planned for the "others" category? Like knights and squires that work for the church, some of them even among the Knights of Seiros? Maybe some of them could accompany the students sometimes. But I guess they could be some NPCs who are not really assigned to any of us.

At the moment, I'm most concerned with getting the student positions filled. Everything else can technically be rped by whoever is online. It would be nice to have some knights in particular, however.
