- Grimm is disinherited a little over a week before Garreg Mach opens their doors to the current class.
- After The Mock Battle, he finds out that his brother, Halvor (who was a decorated Adrestian knight) has been murdered. In fact, he died around the time Grimm left for the monastery.
- Grimm is implicated as the murderer, a bottle of poison having been found in his room. It is believed that Grimm poisoned Halvor the day before he left for the monastery which they see as him fleeing his crime. This is the narrative the church receives from the Hespers.
- There was a delay in the church being notified because of internal conflict within his house (Grimm’s parents being uncomfortable with disinheriting a son with a crest when they already lost one)
- The Church of Serios has to decide whether to remove Grimm from the premises or investigate further.
- A team of knights (perhaps with the rest of the Black Eagle class) are sent to the Empire to look into Halvor's murder.
- Evidence proving the true murderer is found.
- In actuality, Halvor was murdered by Grimm's other older brother, Arvid. Their parents neglected Arvid and doted on their crest-bearing sons. Arvid murders Halvor and attempts to exile Grimm in order to become heir to the family.
- After being found out, Arvid steals the Hesper relic and runs away. The Black Eagles are sent to put him down.
- He is defeated and Grimm obtains his relic.
