When stores had little daycares in them for parents to drop off their child to build a snowman or something, and then watch a Disney movie while their parent would shop? Was I the only deprecated child who insisted on certain items be bought (like cookies). Or I would make vomit sounds when my dad put vegetables in the cart so much that my dad just dropped my douchcanoe self off at grocery store daycare.

I remember those, but my parents never put me in one of those germ infested petri dishes.

I feel like there's one of those in a store around my area but I can't remember which one.... it has this little entry way that is like a 3 feet tall red arch and "only people who can walk through without bending over can enter!"

when i was younger the wegmans and the shoprite in my area had them. we went to wegmans more often before we moved about half an hour away and i liked the wegmans one better anyway- they had a whole ass jungle gym in there and a ps2 or something that we could play spider-man on. i remember when my sister was allowed to go in but i was "too young" and i would sulk the entire shopping trip. then when i was old enough to go in my sister was almost old enough to age out. ive been to that wegmans recently and they closed that thing thats really sad tbh.

don't really remember those, but my parents would never have even thought of leaving me alone at one anyway (at least until i was like 13 but by that point i'd probably have been too old)
to be fair, we lived in a pretty rough area for crime until i was like 7, so i kinda get why they kept a tight handle on us.

^^ similar, they had those, but only really for young kids. Maybe 5-10. I'm really surprised they ran for so long because I doubt people needed any qualification to work at them and I bet it was pretty easy to snatch a kid from them... most ours were in public places like malls rather than in front of stores.
now, those same playplaces are just indoor parks where you have to stay and watch your own kid. They've been pretty barren; no one wants to sit with their kid in gross indoor mall-park for any length of time

I'm pretty sure the Wegmans near me had one of those. I haven't been there for so long that I'm not sure if they have it anymore.

Pepperidge Farm remembers. I don't recall ever seeing one but I honestly did not get out much as a child.

The only place I can think of is the play area at IKea, which was pretty legendary.

I only remember that in the mall. And they still have it. It's an enclosed playground area kids can hang out there while parents shop.

I have not seen those is ages, I’ve been in one while my parents were at the mall when I was like 8 or 9 and I would collect lost items and give them to the nice lady in charge. I think that was the only time I’ve been in one. The last one I saw was like four or five years ago at a Walmart far from where I lived and it was empty so my cousin and I looked at it then a lady came which I believed works there and gave us both a coloring paper which is nice of her. I believe after that store daycares have pretty much became extinct.

The local Kroger store had one, but it was replaced with a storage area for ClickList shoppers (people who order online and then have employees bring the stuff out to their vehicle) right before the pandemic started. Turned out to be a wise decision lol

i've seen play areas in stores, but you have to stay and supervise your kid they don't have someone watching them for you. ya know what i wonder about though some stores around my area used to have mini shopping carts for children? and then like a decade ago they got rid of them. I used to love having my own tiny shopping cart when i was like 5/6, i wonder why they stopped having them lol

My mom banned me from using the mini shopping carts because I rammed one into her shins at full speed.

I remember going to one in Wegmans a single time. I think a movie about figure skating was playing.
I completely forgot that kids' shopping carts were a thing. I can't remember the last time I saw one of those.
