"Come sit on the sofa," Caley says softly. He takes out his phone, and calls a restaurat nearby. "We'll have food in 30 minutes. What do you normally do?"

Yuda moved so he was sitting on the sofa, after a bit of hesitance. He slipped his phone back to his pocket after sending the email. "Normally do?...Reading," he answered him. "Otherwise I don't really do much." Yuda had never tried to get to many interests. "How about you?"

"I like to read, but I tend to play around with the stocks... the ASX is quite interesting to play with. It's why I had enough money to buy this place from that father of mine. I wanted something of my own, so I learnt how to play with the stock market while in high school. I used up all of my allowance playing and learning until I found the trick to making money."

"ASX?" Yuda looked at him confused. He didn't know much in regards to the stock market, due to holding no interest to learn about it. "But guess I have to give you drops for trying something complicated." Yuda flicked his gaze back to the tv, seeing what the news was talking about.

"Australian Security Exchange. That's what the Australian stock market is called." Caley turns back to the TV. He felt tired now that he was back at the hotel. He had just arrived back in England that day. He checked into the hotel to grab the key card to his penthouse, before dropping his things off in his room and heading straight to Yuda's home. Now that he was back, and relaxing, Caley felt immensely tired. He slowly drifted off to sleep.

"Oh..," he responded. Yuda sat for a while before noticing the new silence. Glancing over to Caley to find that he had fallen asleep. He muted the tv, to prevent the noise from waking him up. He stood up and carefully moved Caley to be laying on the couch figuring it would be more comfortable for him. He settled back on the ground, as he watched the muted tv.

Caley woke up half an hour later. He was pretty disciplined even when sleeping. He would wake up when he needed to, and he woke up just in time for the food to arrive. There was a ring at the front door. "Hi. Yes, I'll let you up now." Caley presses a button that unlocks the elevator, allowing it to reach the top floor. He turns too Yuda. "Our food is here."

Five minutes later, there was a knock on the door. Caley opens it, and passes over the money to the delivery boy, taking the food. "Thank you," he smiles, before closing the door. He turns to Yuda. "I wasn't sure what you'd like to eat, but I bought Chinese today." He sets the food on the table, and pulls out two bowls and chopsticks. He sets the on the table, before sitting down and opening up the food.

"That's fine," Yuda said, following him, before sitting down at the table. He put his hands together and sent a quiet thanks for the food. He bite his lip a bit, as part of him was hesitant to begin to make an effort to begin to eat. He observed the food a bit to see what all he had ordered.

Yuda gave a slight nod. "If you want to." He took some of the Szechuan chili beef. He ate quietly as he wasn't really one for conversation when he ate. He stayed away from the sweet and sour pork as he didn't like sweet food and tended to steer away from them.

Caley takes note on what Yuda eats and what he doesn't. Noticing the sweet and sour pork, Caley takes the dish. He mainly eats the steamed rice, with a little bit of the chicken fried rice. He stays silent throughout the meal.

-- Anubis' Successors
-- Ira Edan-Kilborne, Arlo Kilborne
Ira is kind of like a dog- is Arlo's general impression of him. It has never been more true than now, as his apparent older(?) brother flits about the graveyard as if it were...some happy place. None immediately come to Arlo's mind, but it's like that. It is difficult to tell if his twin knows the gravity of their situation. Arlo doesn't know him well enough; they've only recently 'reunited' and so their relationship, at least on Arlo's end, is in question. Ira doesn't appear to be of the same mind, however. He loops around a couple aged gravestones, inspects the lightning scar of a nearby tree, and when Arlo calls, "heel!" He somehow makes it before his brother within minutes. He walks backward, gloved fingers laced behind his back and an excited glint in his seafoam eyes. "Hey hey-"
"You are going to trip and I will be forced to step on you." The interruption is delivered with a solemnity that suggests that this is a bygone conclusion.
"You mean over-"
"I know what I said." Arlo narrows his eyes and his brother's grin widens in response. "Why are you-" He waves his hand to encompass the less than hospitable environment. At least not for the living. And perhaps for the dead as well, considering how ill-kept the graves are... "-like that?"
Ira sidesteps a crumbling gravestone with ease. " 'cause it's fun! Aren't you the least bit curious?"
"No."
"There are others like us! I mean, not as laudable but I'm sure they try~"
"My- our survival may depend on their competence."
Ira spins on a heel to swing into Arlo's personal space and is met with an elbow that just barely misses his jaw. "Aww, you do love me!" Arlo makes a face that Ira is apparently delighted to see. He's been rather expressive as of late- there need to be more ways to communicate how much he suffers in his brother's presence.
"Oh~ Look! There they are!" The taller teen makes to bounce over and enthusiastically introduce himself- like an overeager puppy- but Arlo collars him and draws up short, assessing them from behind sagging tree branches. Thanatos and Pluto's successors; They look deceptively normal- not something he can really claim of his brother and himself. Arlo wears darks glasses to hide his heterochromia but Ira proudly sticks out with his concentrated eccentricity. Today he's purposely decided to wear white- a jacket of the color over a violet crop top and white capris. He's at least conceded to wearing black boots for tromping- or waltzing, in his case- through the cemetery at night. This means that they probably stick out more than usual, even though Arlo also conceded to simply wearing a midnight peacoat and charcoal every-weather pants: because he must have as many pockets as possible at all times.
"Khen~ we're starting to look weird. Do you even blink?"
Arlo simply releases him and keeps to his brother's shadow, watching as he approaches with his usual lackadaisical grace and greets the pair with a genuine smile. "Good evening~ We're here by request of Anubis himself. I'm Sutekh and this is my shadow- you needn't bother with him- he's only here to bring down the mood~"

Yuda finished eating after a while, but felt awkward about leaving. He looked at Caley. "Want me to wash the dishes when you are done," he offered. While waiting for his fiancé he looked around the room just observing everything in the penthouse. It's look was vastly different from his parent's house, but he felt he would be able to get used to it after some time.

@quod: -- Thanatos' Successor-- Thana AetosThana keeps her head down. It's dark now, and she knew she wasn't supposed to be out this late, but she didn't care. She received a message from Thanatos, saying she had to go to the graveyard tonight to meet up with the other successors. Apparently there were two successors for Anubis and one for Pluto. Thana meant 'death', whereas Aetos meant 'eagle', and she really looked like her name. Tonight, she wore what she always did: a black tank top with black skinny jeans and a large black trench coat over it all. Her wings were rather cramped under the trench. She looked around to see if anyone was nearby. Removing her gloved hands from her trench coat pockets, she takes off her coat to reveal the jet black wings. They looked like crow wings, but much bigger. She stretches them, before lifting off into the air. It had been a while since she last flew, and she was incredibly happy to go flying once again.
"I hope they're alright, Thanatos..." she mumbles to herself. She was very worried that she may not like them. She closes her eyes, feeling the wind surrounding her, comforting her. This was the only time she felt free. She felt that she had a love-hate relationship with Thanatos because when he first came into contact with her as his successor, she immediately sprouted these wings. Of course, she had her powers before she knew about being Thanatos' successor, and nearly killed her mother because of it.
Finally reaching the graveyard, after flying in circles for a little while, Thana lands. She folds her wings carefully, before putting her trench coat back on. She knew she was early, but she didn't care. She didn't want the others to know about her wings; not just yet. She didn't want to be the only abnormal one, after all. She slinks to the centre of the graveyard, and crouches under a tree, her head down. Some minutes later, she hears the crunching of leaves under someone's feet. Probably another successor... she thinks to herself. She looks up to see nothing. She frowns, looking around. She can hear the footsteps, but can't see the person? Someone finally materialises in front of her, a cap in hand. She scrutinises him carefully, from his blonde hair and dark eyes, to his tall figure.
"Hi," he smiles, holding out his hand. "I'm Cato Albina. Pluto's successor. And you are?"
Thana looks at his outstretched hand, and looks away.
"Thana Aetos..." she mutters. "Pluto's successor..."
~~ -- Pluto's Successor -- Cato Albina
Cato looks up and down the street. No cars. That's good. This means he'll have a quiet stretch of road to walk on with nothing to bother him.
"Hi!"
Oh, no. He spoke too soon.
"I'm Calla. What's your name? Can you see me? Can you hear me? I guess not. You living humans are always the same. You can never see me, nor hear me..."
"Can you please shut the hell up?" Cato grumbles.
"Oh, so you can see and hear me! That's a first. You're like, literally the first person who can."
"How long have you been dead?"
"Oh, just 10 years."
"That's a rather long time... I'd love to help you, but I've got something to do. Goodbye." Cato moves quickly. He really wanted to get to the graveyard as quickly as he could. As Pluto's successor, he had to make a good impression on the other three successors. After all, Pluto is a rather big God. And when Cato received his message, the God had stressed on the fact that Cato had to do a good job.
"Aaw! Can't you stay for a little bit? It's been so long since I've spoken to another person."
"Talk to the other ghosts nearby. I know there are some around."
"But they're boring! Always talking about the same old things."
"Well, I can't chat." Cato looks at the watch on his right wrist. "Shit. I'm late." He starts sprinting. He whips out a cap, and places it on his head, turning him invisible.
"Hey! Hey! Where are you..."
Cato eventually leaves the ghost girl behind. He reaches the graveyard quickly, and heads for the centre. He hoped he wasn't the last one there, or Pluto would give him the headache of a lifetime. He slows down as he enters the graveyard, walking once he reaches the centre. He spots one girl only. She was wearing all black, with a trench coat. She looked rather dark though. As he walks closer, she seems to look around, but cannot spot him. Once he's in front of her, he takes off his cap, and smiles at her.
"Hi." He holds out his hand. "I'm Cato Albina. Pluto's successor. And you are?"
She looks at him and his outstretched hand, before looking away.
"Thana Aetos..." she mutters. "Thanatos' successor..."
"The other two are rather late, aren't they?" he asks. Thana grunts, still not looking at him. She remains crouched down. Cato falls silent, as they wait for Anubis' two successors. Eventually, he hears two footsteps emerging from the trees.
"Good evening~ We're here by request of Anubis himself. I'm Sutekh and this is my shadow- you needn't brother with him- he's only here to bring down the mood~"
Cato looks at the one speaking, and smiles warmly. "Hi. I'm Cato. Cato Albina. Pluto's successor." He holds out his hand for the two to shake.
He notices that Thana remains where she is, quickly glancing at the two, before looking away.
"Thana Aetos. Thanatos' successor..." she mutters once more.

Yuda narrowed his eyes and threw one of the chopsticks at him, the chopstick hitting against Caley's hand. "If you want I can punch you next time," Yuda commented as he stood up, taking his bowl to the kitchen area at the very least. He headed for his room to unpack everything that he had brought with. He picked the duffel bag off the floor and set it on the bed in the room beginning to take the clothes out and setting them on the bed.

Caley laughs at Yuda, before heading to the kitchen, his bowl and chopsticks in hand. He takes his time washing the two bowls, and places all the unfinished food into another bowl and into the fridge, before throwing everything else in the bin. He then heads to Yuda's room, poking his head in. "Do you need any help?" He asks. "If not, I'm heading to bed."

Yuda looked over to the door looking at Caley. "I think I can handle this," he said. "And if not I know where to find you...thanks though." He took the clothes and put them in the dresser in the room. Yuda set the duffel bag on the ground so it would be out of the way, he sat on the bed thinking. Should I go and talk with him about everything or just leave it for now? He debated quietly in his head.

"Ok. Goodnight," Caley says, before heading back to his room.
The second he places his head on the pillow, he was out like a light. Caley doesn't wake up until the next day. It was 7:00am, and he was full of energy. Caley stretches. Hearing a pop, he groans.
"That feels good," he moans happily.
He skips out of the room, ready to grab a bite to eat. He opens the fridge, only to see nothing in it.
"I forgot to stock uo the fridge..."
Caley heads over to Yuda's room.

Yuda was asleep, having stayed up for most of the night due to his poor sleep habits. He had forgotten to take off his glasses before falling asleep, the frames were pushed up amongst his hair. The book he had been reading had fallen to the floor along with the notes he had been making as he read.

Caley pokes his head into Yuda's room. Seeing Yuda like that, he creeps in. He gently takes the glasses off Yuda, and quietly stacks the book and notes neatly on the floor, before leaving the room. He gently closes the door, grabs his key card, wallet and phone, and a jacket before heading out the door.
Shopping time," he grins.
Caley looks up the closes supermarket. Finding one nearby, he walks the whole way.
"Hm... I need... water, rice, noodles, meat, vegetables, fruit, some snacks, juice, chocolate, milk and tea..." he mumbles, as he flies down the isles. He grabs what he wants, taking at least an hour before he collects everything he wanted. He goes to the check out, and smiles at the cashier as she rings up his items.

After a while, Yuda woke up sitting up with a yawn escaping from him. He rubbed at his eyes, as he tried to remove the blurriness from sleep, granted it didn't help his usually bad vision. He squinted as he searched for his glasses, when he found them he put them on, now being able to see clearly. He looked around the room with a small frown, at first not recognizing where he was, but soon it came back to him.
"Oh right, Caley's penthouse," he said as he exited the bed. He stretched again when he stood, he noticed the neat stack on the floor. Was it like that before he feel asleep? He couldn't remember so he didn't decide to dwell on it, figuring that maybe it was Caley or something. He exited the bedroom and headed back where the main living space was.

@ EmberCaley eventually returns. He decided to call a cab, since he had too many groceries with him. It seems, he went a little overboard, especially with only the two of them, but since the apartment had no food, he just splurged. He asks the people at the reception to help him take all the bags to the elevator. Once inside with all the bags, he waits for the elevator to reach the top and open it's doors. He then presses a button that makes the elevator stop for an extended period of time. He grabs four bags, and hauls them to his front door. He unlocks it with his key card to see Yuda in the living room.
"Yuda! You're awake. I found that we didn't have any food in the apartment, so I went to get some. The rest is in the elevator. Could you help me bring them in? Don't forget your key card." ---- @ending(That's great.) -- Thanatos' Successor-- Thana Aetos Thana carefully watches Ira and Arlo. They were both people she didn't want to care for. She knew them, since they all went to the same school. She just hated interacting with anyone, so she didn't know them personally. The only thing Thana could think about when she saw Ira was annoying. She could only see him as annoying. There was nothing else to it. He was too talkative. He seemed to have this enormous ego, and he looked like he was trying to overcompensate for something. Maybe he was lacking in some area, but honestly, she didn't care. As long as he stayed well away from her, she'd be happy.
Looking at his twin, however, she had a much more favourable feeling. He was quieter, and she liked that. He's more her speed, and she was glad there weren't two hyper twins around. Just Cato made her feel tired. With the addition of Ira, she just felt exhausted, so looking at Arlo, she felt much better. She half-listened to what Ira was saying, but at the same time, didn't really care. Some of what he was talking about went in one ear, and out the other.
She knew that she had to talk at some point, but she just couldn't really be bothered most of the time. But she knew she had to tell them a bit about Thanatos, his expectations, and her powers. It's not like it was a secret, anyway. She was just scared to use them. And how would they react to the wings on her back? Oh, well. She was a loner to begin with, so telling them will probably only make things easier in the long run. When Ira finally stopped speaking, she decided to talk first. That way, she could get it all over and done with.
"Thanatos is cold...dark... He only wants me to get the job done. He doesn't care for anything else," she begins. She liked Thanatos' approach to everything. It was quite soothing, having a God who had a no nonsense attitude. It made things easier for her, and she wasn't very attached to him. She did like the fact that she could understand why she had her powers now.
"Everything I touch, that has life energy, dies. Everything with a soul, dies at a single touch... I don't have control over it at all..." She frowns a little, before continuing. "I can also fly."
She takes off her trench coat, and extends her jet black wings. From the wind that's whipped up by her wings, her long black hair fans out a little. Her pale face and bright pink lips shine from the dark background of her hair, wings and clothes.
~~ -- Pluto's Successor -- Cato Albina
Cato laughs at Ira's chatter, as he shakes his hand. He didn't mind the fact that Ira was wanting to look deep into his eyes. He stares right back at him. It seems he'll be making a new friend. When Ira suggested they talk about his powers though, he flinches slightly. He was happy to be acquainted with Ira and Arlo, but he was still nervous about his abilities. He turns to Arlo, and shakes the extended hand, also inclining his head towards the quieter twin. He liked the quieter twin's personality too. It made the group well-rounded.
He felt that Ira was a little vain, liking the sound of his own voice, but that didn't matter. Cato was a cheerful and kind boy. He is willing to make friends with anyone and everyone, regardless of their negative traits. He watches as Thana introduces her God, and feels surprised at her wings. But it made sense, with wearing the trench coat. That coat was too heavy, and would only weigh her down with how thin the poor girl was, yet the coat hid her wings perfectly. She also looked quite beautiful when extending her wings; much like a fallen angel.
Cato watches in silence, not really ready to talk about his abilities. He's always had this aversion when speaking about anything he's seen or heard, because he's been terrified that he'd be sent to a mental asylum. He most certainly didn't want to be used as a test subject. But that's what his parents are like. They're obsessed with being the perfect family, with the popular and academically smart son, and the popular, yet ditzy daughter who does as she's told. Watching how selfish his parents have been, moulding him and his little sister into the dolls they've always wanted made him a little selfish too. If it weren't for his grandmothers, he'd be jsut as selfish and phoney as his family.
Cato hesitates to speak once Thana was done. But since she was courageous enough to talk, he needed to be too.
"My powers are of judgement. Pluto is the judge of the underworld. He judges whether a soul is good, evil, or average. You can tell by the colour of the soul. A white soul, is a pure one. One of good. A black soul, is evil. An average soul will be a mix of white and black: grey. Depending on how good or how bad depends on the solidity and purity of the colour." Cato falls silent for a bit, before continuing. This time, about Pluto. "Pluto is rather vain. He is constantly annoying me with his chatter, because he wants me to be the best. As a God of the 'Big Three', as he likes to call himself and his brothers, they are the rulers of the sky, the sea, and the dead. This means that they have a much bigger responsibility. Jupiter is the God of Gods. He rules all the Gods, and oversees everything. And Neptune is the ruler of all the seas. He determines everything under the ocean. And you know how the ocean covers over 70% of the Earth. As for Pluto, he's perfectly happy ruling over the punishment and rewards of the humans and animals. Depending on how they do in their lifetime, he judges them as he suits."
Cato then shows them the cap.
"This is the helm that Pluto keeps by his side. Since he can't use it in the mortal realm, he's given it to me. It changes to suit the wearer. Since I'm a high school boy, it's changed into a cap, so that it doesn't stand out. It will turn me invisible whenever i wear it. I tend to keep it in my back or side pockets of my pants." Cato looks down at his forest green polo shirt and beige cargo pants. He looks back up at Ira and Arlo. "Am I talking too much? I have a feeling I've been talking too much..."

-- Anubis' Successors
-- Ira Edan-Kilborne, Arlo Kilborne
-#-)
Ira is all performative geniality and open curiosity. He brightens further and uses the act of shaking Cato's hand to stare directly into his eyes. Anubis' shrewd nature is more prominent in his brother but he can borrow a little as well. His first impression is that the pair are rather boring, but then he finds most people boring. Until he gets to the meat of them, of course. "I'm pleased to meet you both! I look forward to working with you in the future! Whenever that is- what are Pluto and Thanatos like? I wonder how their culture compares to ours! Well, I've researched of course, but I'd like to hear it from genuine fact rather than opinion, you know? Anubis has been created for his duty so he doesn't have a lot of agency- that's why he likes Khen- Sekhen," he clarifies. "We're a package deal so he was blessed with me as well~"
They've previously been forced to keep their True Names- 'gifts' that had been bestowed upon them by Anubis- between the two and their mother. Ira is clearly proud to be able to introduce himself as such. These are to be the names they will retain as successors and thus are more important than the rather banal 'Ira' and 'Arlo'.
"He's the judge and I'm the executioner~" Ira winks and draws a pinky across his throat. "I imagine you two have very different roles, however. Care to share~? We're meant to be a team, after all!"
Arlo automatically moves to extend his hand toward Pluto's successor and inclines his head in acknowledgment. "We are Sekhen and Sutekh, for all intents and purposes." The nature of his brother's name is...complicated. And so are the relationships between the entire pantheon, so perhaps it suits him; named after the embodiment of chaos and the animal associated with it. Sekhen contrasts with a more positive meaning. He'd originally been the sole successor but his name was changed when Ira was also chosen. A wish for their eternal cooperation, perhaps. They would need to embody all aspects of Anubis if they wished to even accomplish half his duties. Egyptian gods are much too multifaceted.
One benefit from having an extrovert who loves the sound of his own voice around is how well Ira can take the attention off of him and gather information at the same time. His brother normally wouldn't devote so much time to the uninitiated, but he's endlessly enamored with his power and position and likely seeks to find others who are the same. The thought is strange but Ira might actually be attempting to make friends. Or perhaps just allies. Arlo has never really seen him dedicatedly interact with fellow students unless necessary but he seems to recognize them from shared classes.
Ira is determined to include Thana, even though he knows she'd rather not. He's relatively familiar with her due to their lack of interaction in school. His attention centers on her ever-gloved hands; she's always very careful to avoid physical contact. Ira wears gloves to hide his scars but he suspects her reasons are less vain. Unlike the others, the second successor of Anubis is just that- secondary. It may be part of the reason he has seized upon the opportunity with such zeal. He needs to prove that he's more than an afterthought. The others have a head start in managing their unique abilities and inheritance while Ira has been forced to play catch-up. Though he hates to admit it, his advancement was greatly improved when Arlo actually bothered to help him out under the weary claim of needing to ensure he doesn't put Arlo himself in danger.
Ira truly wants to get to know the others. What are their strengths and weaknesses? How do they intend to fulfill their duties? How can he ensure that he's the best of them? Thana already seems rather tortured by her role- her aversion to touch and the careful way she moves obviously connected to it. Cato seems to focus on him in a way that suggests he's blocking something else out. Arlo is... absent and deathly, in a way. Anubis is both busy and capable of delegation- he's like a workaholic father who tries to make up for his absence with a sudden abundance of time and gifts- except he's really seemed to take to Arlo and has way too much influence over his life. His little brother might not be so...like that if he'd had a normal father figure. Their mother said he was a sweet kid who wanted to be a vet and had befriended all the local animals Disney princess style. Then he started mummifying them so that they'd 'stay with him forever' so...maybe that wasn't destined to last in the first place.
Arlo certainly doesn't give the impression of geniality now, leaning with his back against a tree and his fingers tapping on crossed arms as he stares stolidly into the distance. He's clearly no help in making this situation less...formalistic but that only means that Ira needs to inject a little more pep into his interactions to make up for it. He unobtrusively positions himself in a way that he can keep all three successors in sight whilst also being near enough to Thana that she could be included in the conversation if successfully coaxed. He also has the benefit of a moonbeam gilding his hair in silver and emphasizing the brilliance of his eyes. Nice!

(That's fine. The blue-green colour you used is fine too. It's actually very different to my two colours.)
-- Thanatos' Successor
-- Thana Aetos
Thana carefully watches Ira and Arlo.

-- Pluto's Successor
-- Cato Albina
He's also incredibly competitive. He believes I should be better than the Greek and Egyptian successors.

-- Anubis' Successors --Ira Edan-Kilborne, Arlo Kilborne
( - # - }
Ira listens attentively to what Thana says- she's rather recalcitrant but at least she's willing to open up a bit! He can work with that. She's just a different kind of stoic than his beloved brother, whom he already has a head-start with because they're family. Arlo doesn't seem to know what to do with him and Ira seizes upon that. He speaks when he feels that he needs to so Ira simply created situations in which he needed to and doggedly followed him on his morning routines and community work until he wore him down. Arlo is very easy to wear down. Thana requires different methods. Especially if she's both inwardly and outwardly prickly- she has a reason to be, but it's a rather boring reason. He'd absolutely love to wield the power that she has! And he really really wants to know more. How can she apply it in the trials ahead? What does she desire beyond that? And how exactly is she meant to mitigate her overpowered-ness? Perhaps they'll be facing an army of the undead, but he suspects the four of them really won't have any trouble with that, haha~ He runs fingers along his absent smile, considering. With such an absolute and singular power, she's bound to have some unrealized weak points. Just a thought! These other two may be rivals but he's never really considered targeting his brother at all. He loves him too much~! Ira shoots Arlo an affectionate glance and is met with a mildly disgusted look. 'I love you too <3'
He's distracted from this line of thought when Thana brings her short introduction to a close- and reveals magnificent ebony wings. They're similar to a crow's by the spread and sheen of the feathers- And she's stolen his moonbeam, but he doesn't mind. Ira has always thought that Thana was pretty, even with her near constant frowns, but now he openly shows his admiration by flitting from one side to another in an effort to inspect them more closely without entering her personal space. "Ah, that's amazing! You've always been beautiful and your wings really suit you~! Hm, I suppose they must be cumbersome? But I'm sure we can help with that! And hopefully you'll be able to fold them more comfortably in the future! Perhaps there won't be as many humans where we're going~" Wherever they're going...But Ira doesn't mind! It still promises to be fun regardless~
Arlo's attention returns to the clearing before him. It'd never truly left, but he was content to let his brother perform while they were relatively safe. Ira's sudden...existence had greatly upended his life yet he's been gripped with the vague notion that he needs to watch him or he'd disappear again. He's of the opinion that it's internalized trauma from their violent separation. What a pain. It's fortunate that he left his therapist in Egypt- Ira randomly sends moon-eyes his way and Arlo reflexively wrinkles his nose. His brother is undeterred, but he's once again left to his own thoughts when Ira switches to fawning over the girl. She can't control either of her gifts? What use is she, then? Her reserve will likely only slow them down. Though, perhaps Thanatos has made her this way for a reason. Could it be some kind of hero's journey nonsense? She should ask. But then again, the others seem to indicate that their relationship with their patrons are vastly different from his. Anubis doesn't really know how to interact with him, and so simply gives him whatever he asks for. Still, they should throw their weight around more. They are the successors with Thanatos and Pluto's powers waning. They should have more agency than this. Tsk. Perhaps it's better that Ira is working his angle. They need more discipline and as fickle as his brother likes to present himself, Ira has a lot of it. He can be trusted, in some ways. Once he's been muzzled.
Ira successfully keeps any further thoughts from his face, even as he notes the obvious reluctance the others have in opening up about themselves and their gods. He can empathize with them; they alone had to carry this burden while he has Arlo and their mother- and Arlo never cared about being alone. He'd never had to bottle it all up and it must be uncomfortable to try and give voice to something that has always been buried. He doesn't frown but finds his lips twitching into a mild smile. It's a habit now, Ira can't shift into a neutral expression for long because he's always been smiling in an effort to project that he's okay. Cato has quite a bit to say and Ira appreciates him all the more for it, watching intently and humming to show that he was listening. His body language is all off, just like Thana's, but that's okay. Maybe they can grow into themselves now that they aren't alone. That's a cheering thought!
"No, no!" Ira's grin can widen now as he waves his hands at Cato's uncertain inquiry. "That's great! It's just as I asked! Your cap is awesome! Are you invisible to spirits too?" "Now I have to respond in turn, right?" He hums and places a hand on his hip, going over what he knows about himself so far. "Well, first Anubis visits us in dreams and only speaks when he has to, but will give good advice when we ask. He's always very busy but he takes breaks when he can to teach us more about our powers and our roles. That's why Sekhen's so regal~ He's already prepared to rule the afterlife." He grins mischievously when Arlo raises a hand to cover what might be a blush. Arlo isn't as starved for praise as Ira but he still doesn't know what to do with sincere compliments. He can barely meet Anubis' eyes sometimes and Ira takes advantage of that weakness with absolute relish whenever possible.
"Ah, so! I mentioned that I'm an executioner, right? I'm Sekhen's guardian and the guardian of the dead. As such, I can do this-!" He points to the top of his head, from which sprout large canine ears that fade into a dusky green. They're likewise adorned with the same gold piercings that had been in his human ears. "And that-" A lengthy tail swishes into being, bearing the same sickly sheen. "They give me more strength and speed and what not. That's all I can do for now! But I'm supposed to become a giant jackal who can eat the living and the dead alike." He curls his fingers into paws and mouths a 'roar'. "I also have a crook for offense as a human, but Khen's holding it for me." He whirls on his heel and points to the hairpiece entwined with the dark hair on the left side of his brother's head; a braid of gold and lapis lazuli from which sprouts a spray of golden feathers. "My crook and his flail are connected unless we separate them." Ira completes this with jazz hands. "The hidden magic only twins know~"
And because Arlo has yet to indicate that he's going to open his mouth, "Sekhen hasn't really told me what he does, exactly, but I know that he's kind of like an exorcist. I know he eases the passing of the dead and can stop people from dying immediately, I think?" Arlo gives no indication as to whether or not this is correct. "And he's a judge, too! Khen, do the thing!"
This, he will not let go, so Arlo responds in a drawl, "There is no one here to judge."
"Ah, well. He'll show you eventually! Now we've got that out of the way-" Ira taps his foot thoughtfully and checks his palm as if something is written there. "Are we just meant to make friends for tonight? If so, I know a great place for us to have late dinner, or dessert!"
