Lark hadn't expected R to be able to force him anywhere while he was in his arms- realistically it was possible. But it was a surprise. He ended up back against the wall, arms curled over R, and with his heart beating in his throat.
Anatomical inaccuracies aside. Holding his breath in this tiny tunnel had Lark's vision swimming. He was overly aware of the blood pumping in his veins- and he could almost feel the buzz of R's systems working under his fingertips. He really hopes R doesn't mind that Lark pulls him closer. R is both warm and cool, and that's an interesting thought. The metal was cool, but all his processors gave him heat in the areas they were most concentrated.
Not what his focus should be on. Not at all.
He swallows, presses his face into R's side and lets out the slowest breath he can manage. Lark can only hope he is channeling his inner calm, and that his breathing wasn't actually as loud as it sounded.
"Maybe it's synthetic. With very advanced heat regulation? Or... I suppose it could be a golem?"
The dragon goes silent in the canyon and Lark crushes R closer. Too loud. Could it actually hear them?
He could toss a rock and hope the thing followed it. That would only give them a quick distraction though. The dragon was also probably smarter than that.
Ok.
The only logical thing was to go deeper into the tunnels. Hopefully there was some exit closer to that structure they are looking for. But... more than likely they would get lost if they got turned around.
What should he do. What could they do?
... well.
Lark lets go of R with one arm and slowly pulls open his bag. He digs through it, wincing every time he budges something metal, and finally pulls out a length of rope.
Looks like they were going to Hansel and Gretel this.
Lark reluctantly lets go of R, worried he would drop when let go, but of course he keeps floating as always. So, with quick movements he ties a knot into a rock creeping out of the wall. He shoots back up, pulls R into his arms again, and hurries down the tunnel.
At least they could find their way back there, and hopefully the dragon would be gone by then.
.... hopefully the dragon wasn't going to see the rope either. A brief thought of being reeled in like a fish flashes in his mind and he shakes his head.
"We just have to trust this is as empty as the rest of the planet. R." His voice sounds thunderous in the quiet cave after all that tension.
"Hopefully one of these tunnels leads out. And hopefully none of the entrances are big enough for it to come in"
