-- closed (for now!) --
why hello
welcome to my one-on-one search thread :3
-- an intro --
i am the willowflower, and i like to write! some quick stuff 'bout me: >> i enjoy semi-literate rps; i try to go for three hefty paragraphs a post >> i am very active >> all my characters are trans >> i really enjoy mysteries, magic, romance, and slice of life >> i prefer rping in a thread, and am also a big fan of chatting while rping >> my tone tends to lean towards humorous, dry comedy, marvelling in the absurd as well as heartfelt, sweet moments of humanity >> i have unfortunately reached my early 20's and suffer the burdens of adulthood, and so for the comfort level purposes let us match in a vaguely similar age group >> my writing tends to be very character-based - you'll notice that my offered plots are very character-driven and depend very much on not only our character's personalities and histories, but also their dynamic and chemistry with each other. >> side characters are beautiful
-- plots ---- one: fake dating -- muse a needs a significant other for reasons (annoying mom? creepy lovestruck stranger? plot-relevant wedding? going undercover to solve a case?), so they seek out the help of a very good friend/roommate muse b. we can go a few routes depending on the characters: slowly falling in love in domesticity, mutual pining, or maybe a gay friend needs a beard and its wlw/mlm solidarity, and a beautiful friendship blossoms. -- two: soulmates -- soulmates are a concept that exist in this world! the idea that someone's fate is intertwined with yours, and you simply belong in each other's lives in some way or another. however, muse a is unable to access this essential piece of information - perhaps everyone gets a soulmark on their right wrist, and muse a lost their right hand in an accident. perhaps everyone gets their soulmate's first words on their wrist, and muse a was born mute, leaving muse b with an empty wrist. perhaps muse a is in love with muse b, who has already found their soulmate in muse c. what muse a doesn't know, though, is that muse b has a second soulmark, and is desperately trying to hide it from muse c, who also has the exact same second soulmark. it's just a matter of time before these three fools in love finally find each other. -- three: enemies to lovers -- it's the rivalry. it's the begrudging acceptance. it's the unlikely friendship. it's the slow descent into mutual pining and desperate longing. muse a and muse b, ie declared enemies, end up stranded on an island, or lost in a series of caves underground, or stuck in a never-ending hallway with doors leading to death, and are forced to work together in order to survive. they save each other's lives. they learn to trust in each other. they open up to each other. and in these moments of vulnerability, they grow to love and care for each other. it's gonna be beautiful. -- worlds ---- urban fantasy -- magical realism! runes are etched into the graffiti of the alley walls, fairies pour a shot of charm in your latte, centuries-old vampires rant in history classes about the difference between romanticism and baroque, and animal-headed people on their phones are a common sight. note though that the tone will not be gritty city life, but rather light-hearted and having fun with the ridiculous. also puns. puns everywhere. inspiration: bojack horseman -- space dragons -- we're in space! with space sharks! and dragons made from stardust! it's a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, where the universe is one big terrifying ocean of mythic and earth-inspired creatures. the sky is no longer the limit as we explore various planets and meet galactic beings beyond our comprehension. inspiration: she-ra and the princesses of power -- magic school -- what's a more classic setting than an academic institution? whether it be a high school drama or college student antics, our characters will be struggling to balance their personal lives with loads of homework, part-time jobs, and extracurricular projects. either way, if you've ever endured public school, it's going to be extremely relatable. inspiration: a very potter musical -- if you'd like to join me in a rp adventure -- choose a plot, any plot! one plot and one world: i have three plots and three worlds that we can mix and match - these plots can take place in any chosen setting to spice things up! when it comes to world-building i tend to set general rules and then just wing it, but we can definitely take the time to flesh things out. we can even combine worlds! want a magic school in space? lmk! what i'm thinking is that we'll chat a little bit on this page about our ideas, and once we've settled on something solid i'll draw up a new thread on the 1x1 board! our first posts can be a character form (if that's something you enjoy - creating character forms is one of my passions) and maybe a quick world-building guideline before we begin our story!

Ahhh Willow! I missed you haha. If you'd be good to rp I'd love to do something with the space rp. I'm stuck on the plot though because they're all so good.

anormallife -- i'd love that! just going off of the plot, would u say a never-ending hallway of doom would fit nicely in a school of magic? i'm mostly inspired by the horror games where you walk down a looping hallway that changes subtly every time you loop - the doors can open up to nightmareish scenarios, like detention
or, if you're more down for something slice of life, lmk! what kinds of stories and characters do you like to rp?
faundestwishes -- hi!! and yes i would be so down! for the plotline, we can choose at random or see what might suit our characters best ~ would you be down for maybe a mini spaceship journey? maybe our characters are a two-or-three person ragtag team sent to explore a new planet that's been discovered. i'd be so down to play an AI system/robot. have you played/heard of outer wilds, by chance?

A ragtag group exploring a planet sounds great! Can run into all sorts of fun on a new planet!
Maybe wait until we make characters? But, soul mates would be interesting bc do AI/robots have soulmates/soulmarks?? Or enemies to lovers- but rivals who look at exploring two different ways could be interesting.
I am always here for AI/Robots and space. So I'm totally game haha. I havent heard of Outer Wilds, but I'll totally check it out.

ooh, either soulmate or enemies-lovers would be super interesting - robot angrily pining after a human, despairing bc why would a human ever be with a robot with no soulmark? does a robot even have a soul? maybe we can weave in enemies-lovers through the dynamic of machine v. human; cold calculating logic vs morality and emotion. they could end up stranded together on the very planet they're exploring. it would be hilarious if the robot is just secretly in love with their human rival like; "my programming far exceeds your puny fleshy body ha ha ha (human falls) OHMIGOSH ARE YOU OKAY"
yes! if you like space and exploring i do highly recommend outer wilds - i brought it up bc the planet designs and scientific themes are super inspiring for a space rp

Haha, both options sound great. If it was soul mates- maybe the human has a soul mark that matches a specific part/processing thing on the robot (limited model? Only one if that model?) But the human isnt one to flaunt it si the pining is strong. Or, the robot just pining for this human who is so frustrating and illogical but also please stop getting hurt it makes me worried!! But they butt heads and the robot is like, "why was I even concerned about you again? You are the worst!"
Well then I definitely gotta check it out because I love stuff like that haha

hope its okay to comment but i love the second idea of there being soul mates, i am a major fan of the whole soulmate trope, especially the disability soulmate au trope.

Yeah I feel like something like that would totally fit, kind of like a magic assignment/test gone wrong type of thing. I enjoy like action/adventure with like slice of life thrown in to like slow things down and have some character bonding and development. I'm a sucker for romance, but it doesn't have to be the main plot point. I usually rp guys so that's probably what I'll stick to for this one unless something else comes to mind

faundestwishes -- !! if the human character has a soulmark relating to a specific gear/processing chip in the robot that would be so sweet ;.; like maybe the human is just like 'wut does this mean' and either gave up on it or is very romantically hopeful, and it doesn't click until like maybe the robot gets badly hurt and they have to find the specific gear thing in the rubble of an ancient ruin they find on the planet
Ember34 -- of course u can comment! and ty, i'm also a sucker for the soulmate trope, no matter how many times i see it! it's always interesting to think about the exception - like, if the mark is on the wrist, not everyone has a hand, you know? so what about them? let's include them!
sweetclover1 -- yes sweet!! let's! do you have a fav plot you'd like to do? :3 (maybe revive some old characters idk)
anormallife -- having it be a test gone wrong is a great idea! and heck yeah, we'll probably start out in the school itself to establish the characters' rapport - maybe they're vying for top student, maybe they're just the heads of opposing clubs, what do you think? - before introducing the test and having them get stuck together somehow. maybe they're opposite in some aspect that make them butt heads, like maybe one is a rule-sticker and the other is a chaotic troublemaker. also i totally agree, character bonding a+

willowflower yes that would be so interesting!! and how easily would they be convinced when people claim to be their soulmate? would they believe them or would they slowly lose faith over time the more they got lied to?

willowflower I feel like heads of opposing clubs could be fun but I just wouldn't know of what. Some made-up magic sport like quidditch, but different maybe bc we want to be original here lol. they also can be competing with grades too so like everything they do is a competition. I was planning on making my character a little bit of a troublemaker, somewhat of a cocky b*stard, so if you want to make your character the opposite I feel like that would be fun. Opposites attract lol

willowflower so i was thinking, doing the mark soul mate idea, where the person is missing/lost a hand and losing their mark, having it set in the magic school world where they rely on their hands to cast magic? and so muse a(for example) if they are the one without a hand faces alot of teasing or bullying for missing a hand and still trying to become a wizard/witch/sorcerer and maybe muse b is part of that group that does it? but when they get assigned to work together a sort of slow burn romance begins to develop as muse b begins to realize/see how hard muse a has to work in order to cast magic/keep up? this was just what i was able to come up overnight, you are welcome to reject it

Yessss. Or maybe the human is like, also partially an electrician/engineer and they have to /make/ the part to help the robot out, so once they like put the part back in and really look at it and realize that's their soul mark right in front of them.

anormallife -- ooh, may i propose the rivalry between an art and a science club? from there a natural disagreement on how our characters see and approach problems. to juxtapose your troublemaking cocky character i'm imagining my character could be far more straight-lanced and traditional in terms of what it means to be a good student/solving problems by the book
Ember34 -- i really like that idea! maybe casting magic is a series of gestures, but muse a has to work harder since they only have one hand to gesture with, and therefore their casting is slower but more creative to compensate. they could go to like an academy for mages and are in a lot of classes together so muse b has plenty of opportunities to tease muse a. and to respond to your previous post, exactly! if there's a lot of pressure to find your soulmate in this world, how does muse a cope? to hopeful or cynical would they become? btw, do you have a preference between playing muse a and muse b?
faundestwishes -- oh!! that'd be so beautiful ;.; ok, i think we got a solid construction on our plot. let's talk about our planet! one of my ideas is something small and creepy, like maybe there's zero life and the danger comes from the unstable/unfriendly terrain of caves and canyons. the mystery/mission would be to learn what the heck happened to life on that planet, and there could be ruins or old technology there left to read and scavenge.

willowflower yea that was what i was thinking of them doing gestures for the spells and such!!! and of course muse a needs to work hard to do it with one hand. im excited to see how muse a would cope, maybe having a cycnical approach would be fun, as when they do start to develop feelings for muse b they would be in denial over it, and they could take in account of muse b's teasing and think that muse b is just playing some sick joke on them maybe at the start?? as for my preference i dont mind doing either, do you have a preference to either?

willowflower I love that actually! Just really like polar opposites in every way possible

Sounds good!
I mean, that's always fun. Especially if there's obvious signs there was once intelligent life and now it's just uninhabited. The human would probably be paranoid because that's the perfect set up for something bad. But it's just crumbling terrain and such. Do you think no life at all, or some form of alien wild life?

Post by willowflower on Feb 9, 2021 22:32:54 GMT -5
Ember34 -- oh definitely! a cynical muse a has potential for angst ^.^ and i'd be very interested in playing muse a! oh btw, what kind of assignment should they work on? something that uses a lot of magic - maybe a performance? something they'd have to practice/rehearse for?
anormallife -- hehehe, excellent! i was thinking my character would be head of the science club, if that sounds good! i was also thinking that the assessment that send them down the hallway was supposed to be a, go through each door and face your fears, get to the end of the hallway and you're done... except the hallway keeps looping it starts with small fears, like spiders and heights, then gets deeper and deeper into existential crises and the crippling fear of loneliness though, now i'm thinking maybe the hallway thing is like,,, a dare. like students have heard of the creepy cursed hallway that's been closed off for ages, and of course the two heads of the art and science club decide to prove their mettle and superiority by going in
faundestwishes -- honestly no life at all sounds delightfully terrifying - like what horrible thing could've possibly ended all life on this planet? leaving nothing but rocks your thoughts?

I think it's a great idea- because... let's say they planned on their being some sort of plant or animal life? Does the human have enough food? If they get injured, or the robot is injured, they only have each other to depend on. The ominous idea that there /might/ be something there but it isnt, nothing ever happens with that. Then like, whatever happened there before, is it going to happen again to them? Is it gone? Can be quite ominous!

willowflower That is fine with me! yeah, that could work, like a student really got messed up from the hallway forever ago so they had to stop using it for exams but it still exists in the school and hasn't been touched for ages. and then you get the rumors flying around like 'i heard it makes you go insane' or 'the max someone had been in there is 3 minutes before they had to tap out' Then my character comes along is like: 'A stupid hallway can't scare me, I'm sure I could last longer than (insert your character's name here), they can probably only last a minute before they're begging to leave and crying like a baby'

Ember34 -- awesome! i think we've got a pretty solid concept, is there anything else you'd like to flesh out?
faundestwishes -- yeah, definitely! they truly are alone with each other, heightening the dramatic tension. i'm not sure exactly what happened to the poor planet but i'm sure we can figure it out! is there anything else you'd like to flesh out? i think we're at a good place for me to start an rp thread :3
anormallife -- lol perfect, my character would definitely take the bait, like "how dare you assume i'd react with such indignity! i would most certainly brave this nonsensical hallway far longer than the likes of you!" i think we're at a pretty good place to start rping! is there anything else you'd like to flesh out first?

Yeah! I'm sure we can think of something spooky for that, but we don't need it yet! I think we're good to start!
Do we have contact with a different ship/other people, or just the two?

Post by anormallife on Feb 10, 2021 14:39:31 GMT -5
willowflower I think the only questions I have left is how we want the magic to work and like things they would study and if a student can specialize in a certain type of magic

Ember34 -- i have no preference but fxf comes to mind as a possibility, i'm imagining a lady character
faundestwishes -- awesome! and hm, perhaps in the beginning they'll have contact to a mission control, but then lose that communication during their mission. add to the feeling of isolation
anormallife -- yeah! ideas that i have include: a soft magic system where they use wands and spells; maybe they all learn elemental magic (ie water earth fire air) but students will tend to prefer a specific element/element form like ice or wood; or maybe they focus more on how magic applies to their area of study like biology or sculpture, so they would learn typical math and history stuff but with magic involved. what do you think?
