Sorrelspots ;; Great Sycamore ;; Twistedpaw & Rushpaw ;; sweetclover1 ;;
Sorrelspots shook sandy granules from her pelt as she rose to her paws. She'd managed doze off in the sandpit after having a tough nights sleep. She padded from the sand to the forest floor and flicked her ears, I'd better bring back some prey, at least, she mused as she slunk through the forest. Yet as she walked she felt an uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach. Initially, she figured it was just due to her nights unrest; however, it was an insistent feeling, and she felt as though she needed to hurry. Where am I going? She narrowed her yellow eyes and her paw steps hastened.
Faint voices ahead made Sorrelspots halt and perk her ears, Twistedpaw? She took some time to sniff the air and picked up the scents of Twistedpaw and Rushpaw but no one else. Instead of being concerned, she rolled her eyes. "Mousebrains," she mumbled to herself. Although it was hard to be too angry as she remembered being an apprentice and partaking in her own adventures.
She padded closer to the Great Sycamore and kept her ears perked to follow the sounds of the apprentices.

Sandtuft"Hmph! As if you could ever get ahead of me," Sandtuft scoffed at the prideful she-cat. "I'll have you know I was one of the best hunters this clan has ever seen! You should think back to when I was practically stocking the fresh kill pile myself!" Sandtuft stretched himself taller and puffed his chest out with pride. I haven't even been retired for that long. Don't tell me all these young cats don't even know about my glory days. Well, I'll just have to gather them around one day and remind them of the legacy they should try to live up to. Sandtuft licked his paws and drug them across his ears. He shook out his fur which had some dirt stuck on it from lying around so long. "A walk does sound nice right about now. It's warming up a little and my joints could use a good stretching," the old tom let Brindlefrost take the lead as it seemed she knew where she wanted to go. Together they set off through the camp's exit.
[aether]
IvysplashLeading the young tom outside of the safety of camp, Ivysplash set off for the Battle Zone. Of course she was in no rush to reach the dangerous area and took her time strolling through the forest. "We need to be on the lookout for anything unusual or dangerous on our patrols." Ivysplash told the apprentice following her. Adderpaw was following right by her side and they continued stepping through the undergrowth little by little. "It's not often anything does happen but you know.." the tortoiseshell she-cat gulped. "Well, when something does go wrong it can end up badly." Her shoulders sunk a bit as she thought of her parents. Just two ordinary fighters protecting their clan with their life. Very noble of them, but she doubted she could ever be that brave. She started to make small talk with Adderpaw to distract herself from her own worries, but suddenly halted in her tracks. The strong and sour smell of fox lingered in the air. It was stale, but the scent had to have been from the last few days. "Adderpaw this is what fox scent smells like," she twisted her nose at the stench. "It's not a fresh scent so we should be okay. It's hard to say how many there are though. Let's continue on to the Battle Zone since it's not too much farther forward, and then we'll report back to Blackstar about this."

Owlnose twitches his whiskers in amusement. "See much better." He opens his mouth once more to scent the air and see what was nearby. There were still some mice nearby and possibly a bird. He heads into a random direction and stops when he notices a mouse nibbling on some grass. He glances around for a moment before crouching down and slowly stalking forward. He paused seeing the mouse look around and sniff the air. Owlnose silently watched for a few minutes before leaping forward, pinning down the mouse and biting down to end it's life. He sits up and licks his jaws feeling proud of himself. aetherAdderpaw follows beside Ivysplash taking in his surroundings and enjoying the feeling of being out of camp. "We need to be careful cause Unkindness cats could be lurking right?" He heard plenty of stories about them and how they could strike or trespass at any moment! When she pointed out the fox scent, Adderpaw takes in a deep breath in an attempt to commit the smell to memory. He has yet to see a fox but heard they could be quite deadly! Vinedew

Twistedpaw and Rushpaw aether Twistedpaw had been too focused on what was below her that she didn't notice what was above her until it was too late. Rushpaw had heard the flapping of some wings, a whoosh, but by the time he had called out a warning to his sister it had been too late. She turned around, her eyes wide as she let out a yowl of alarm when an owl swooped down at her.
The tiny black she cat was practically trapped- where else could she go?- as the talons tried to grab at her. Rushpaw was too far down to be much help was she was knocked off of the tree instead of grabbed, letting out a pained scream as she hit branches the further she fell. Thin branches whipped at her and she was falling too fast to really be able to grab onto something until she hit the ground with a bone cracking thud, front leg twisted in an unnatural way.
"Twistedpaw!" Rushpaw wailed, trying to climb down quickly, terrified that she was dead. His sibling didn't answer him and it felt like he was taking just too long to actually get down, unable to breathe as he tried to nudge at his unconcsious sibling. She was still breathing- but just barely.

Ivysplash "That's right," Ivysplash nodded at Adderpaw. "It's possible some Unkindess cats could wander onto our territory. Especially with leaf-bare coming up - some cats tend to do crazy things when they're hungry." The tortoiseshell she-cat continued leading the way towards the Battle Zone - the scent of fox lingering in the air but becoming more faint. Ivysplash picked up the pace a little until that smell was far behind them and stopped just short of the wide lawless stretch of land. She gazed out and stared at the giant willow tree softly swaying in the breeze, and turned to Adderpaw. "Let's mark the trees on our side of the border," she took a step towards the line of trees the declared when Magpie territory started and began clawing the bark to show any passing cats not to enter.

Brindlefrost ;; Camp ;; Sandtuft ;; Vinedew ;;
Brindlefrost let out a gravelly purr and shook her head slowly. Sandtuft's vitality was contagious, however her old bones were not up to the task of partaking in the competition of who would be fastest. As always, she was all talk and had nothing to show. "I remember, I remember, O' Great One" she flicked her tail back and forth in a humorous dance. She gestured with her head for the creamy tom to follow as she made her way towards the entrance. At first her movements seemed forced and stiff - her hips moving in exaggerated side swaying steps. As the walked her muscles and bones seemed to relax and she found each paw step became easier. "I don't think I'll ever get used to the leafbare cold," she fluffed up her coat against a breeze. "The camp is so shadowy too, there's never a good place to sun myself. Say, you can catch all that prey but you couldn't clear a way in the trees by the elders den?" Her scratchy voice teased the tom. She padded slowly towards the sandpit which was notoriously the best place for sunning oneself. The sand soaked up all the warmth the sun had to offer.
A walk through the forest was refreshing. If she'd had the energy, the old she-cat would have sprinted. Instead she walked, her nose relishing the scents of trees, leaves, and the occasional whiff of prey.
Rowanblaze ;; Marsh ;; Owlnose ;; Hawkeyes258 ;;
Rowanblaze felt his back straighten under Owlnose's praise and he nodded firmly, "Thanks!"
As Owlnose caught scent of his own prey, Rowanblaze pushed some leaf litter over his mouse as he moved to watch intently as his black companion stalked his own prey. The prey may be getting scrawny now, but if we catch more we'll be able to feed half the clan! His thoughts were optimistic and he waited as Owlnose disappeared after his prey. When the black tom reemerged from the bush carrying his prey Rowanblaze jumped up to his paws, "Awesome!" He meowed brightly. "We'll be feeding the whole clan at this rate!" He laughed.
Sorrelspots ;; Great Sycamore ;; Twistedpaw & Rushpaw ;; sweetclover1 ;;
The world seemed to move in slow motion as Sorrelspots pushed her way forward through a bush only to come face to face with the scene of Twistedpaw flailing in the air as she tumbled from the Great Sycamore to the earth. Her jaws loosened in a soundless gasp, the sound of Twistedpaw's body crumpling to the earth sent a shiver from her nose to her tail. There's no way... she couldn't survive that! Rushpaw's fearful wail jolted Sorrelspots from her shocked daze and she started forward, first on shaking paws, until she pushed through. With Rushpaw so terrified and Twistedpaw not moving, it would be her role to step up and lead the situation.
"Rushpaw! What is going on?!" She asked frantically as she came up to Twistedpaw. Naturally, the sight of the she-cat made Sorrelspot's stomach roil - the apprentices front paw was a disturbing sight to say the least. Awaiting Rushpaw's answer, Sorrelspots bent down so her ear as an inch from Twistedpaw's face. When she felt the slight huff of breath against her whiskers it gave her some relief, although it was only momentary. They were far away from safety here.

Twistedpaw and Rushpaw w/ Sorrelspots aether
Rushpaw didn't know that anyone was near them, practically jumping out of his pelt when Sorrelspots made an appearance, his hackles raised as he tried to get his words in order. "I don't- I don't know! An owl- we were climbing- and an owl- she was up so high," He managed to piece out, looking back at his sister in horror. "Is she- is she dead? I killed her didn't I?" Rushpaw nearly wailed, looking up at Sorrelspots with wide and scared eyes, because he was technically the one who had started the whole argument beforehand. If it weren't for him, she'd have been fine. He didn't leave the other apprentices side, crouching next to her as his ears flattened against his skull, hackles raised because he had no clue what to do in this situation.

SorrelspotsπΏ - Great Sycamore ;; πΏ - Twistedpaw & Rushpaw ;; πΏ - sweetclover1 ;;
The fearful shock in Rushpaw's wide yellow eyes was all Sorrelspots needed to see for the she-cat to understand this was an accident. However, accident or not, the situation was clearly dire and she had to struggle to calm herself. "Rushpaw, run back to camp and get Riverstripe. Last I saw he was still in the medicine cats den, go swiftly!" Her eyes were wide and serious, her voice commanding and stern. "Go, now! Don't stop, just run!"
She turned her attention back to Twistedpaw and began giving her strong, soothing licks over her forehead. Given the fact the apprentice was still breathing yet was unconscious gave Sorrelspots some hope but her stomach dropped as she looked to the apprentices front leg. That doesn't look right... A fear for Twistedpaw crawled up Sorrelspots spine but she had to have faith Riverstripe would do his best to help it.

Rushpaw aether Rushpaw hesitated when he was told to leave his littermate- how could he ever do that when she was barely breathing? He didn't want to leave her, but Sorrelspots was older than him and clearly knew what she was doing, especially when her tone was so commanding right now. The young apprentice took one last look at his sisters broken body before taking off back to their camp, yowling as loud as he could for RIverstripe the moment his paws hit The Mischiefs camp.
He came barreling into the medicine cats den, desperately looking for the medicine cat, scrambling to a halt. "Riverstripe! I need help- Twistedpa- she. She's- help," He couldn't actually verbalize it, fur puffed out as he tried to get his bearings, horrified at the thought of taking too long and his sister being alone in the woods. "The Great- The Sycamore." He gasped, each word enunciated with a shallow breath, before turning to go back to Twistedpaw without actually thinking that Riverstripe would need more information.

Owlnose buries his catch and licks his jaws. "we just might." Owlnose remarked. He liked seeing his clanmates each whatever he caught. "Let's keep hunting and try to find a bird or rabbit." Owlnose wasn't the best at hunting rabbits but he hoped Rowanblaze could be of some help. He walks a little further to see what else they could find. aetherHe Adderpaw nodded and begins scratching the tree back as well. He hoped that those Unkindness cats would think twice about crossing into their border!

Riverstripeπ§ - Medicine Cat Den ;; π§ - Rushpaw ;; π§ - sweetclover1 ;;
Riverstripe counted his stocks precariously, making mental notes of each herb he would need to collect. I could use some more marigold, I should collect some more lungwort now that it's getting colder, and- however, his usually peaceful task was disturbed as a frantic cat exploded into his den.
He scrambled to his paws and stared at Rushpaw with wide, questioning green eyes. "Rushpaw! What's wrong?" The small tom squeaked and as he listened to Rushpaw's breathless babbling his confusion only deepened. Great Sycamore was a useful piece of information, but before Riverstripe could inquire more, Rushpaw was racing back out of the den. "Rushpaw!" The medicine cat called after the apprentice before he let out a sigh. Obviously something is very wrong... but what do I need? He glanced back to his stocks. He grabbed an assortment of herbs and chased after Rushpaw. Despite the wad of sweet and bitter smelling herbs, Rushpaw's terrified scent hung in the air giving Riverstripe an exact path as he raced quickly to the Great Sycamore. There, he could understand Rushpaw's shock.
"Twistedpaw!" He mumbled around his mouthful as he came to the apprentice's side. Sorrelspots had done a fine job of keeping watch and offering soothing licks, however, now that Riverstripe was there she stepped back.
Riverstripe took a moment to sniff at Twistedpaw and investigate her wounds. The obviously twisting of her front paw was of most concern to him but he also checked her nose and ears to make sure she wasn't bleeding; and he was thankful when he found she wasn't. That meant she hadn't suffered any serious head injuries. "I need a stick to help straighten this leg, Rushpaw, can you fetch me a straight stick?" Riverstripe's voice held a certain sort of authority that only came out when he was treating a patient. Without awaiting a reply, he began to chew up some herbs and work on a poultice to place on the leg to assist with the swelling.
Rowanblazeπ - The Marsh ;; π - Owlnose ;; π - Hawkeyes258 ;;
Rowanblaze nodded with determination and took a moment to sniff the air. He couldn't smell anything in their immediate location, so he stalked a bit further away; closer to the lake area. Oftentimes squirrels hung around the lake area as did rabbits as the earth was softer and water was easy to come by. As he moved slowly through the pines he kept his senses alert and his ears perked.
A short distance ahead he caught sight of a rabbit. It was small and seemed young which was perfect as they often were not as aware as an older rabbit. He dropped into a crouch and moved forward slowly, taking care to ensure he was downwind and this time he kept flicking his eyes down to ensure he would not tread on something that would give away his location. As he neared the rabbit he felt his heart beat faster until finally he was close enough to leap forward; he landed square on it and killed it swiftly.
Rowanblaze straightened up and scanned around to see where Owlnose had gone to.

Rushpaw, Twistedpaw, Sorrelspots, and Riverstripe aether Rushpaw didn't stop when he heard Riverstripe calling after him, determined to get back to Twistedpaw and just pray to the stars that his sister was still alive when he got back. He went as fast as he could, paws hitting the earth below him hard enough that they were aching by the time he skidded to a halt underneath the Great Sycamore, sniffing at her worriedly and only able to gasp out a breathe once he found out she was alive.
Not in great condition, but alive.
Her back leg was already beginning to swell, as well, and she was bleeding from where the thin twigs whipped her as she fell to the earth... but she was breathing, that was all that mattered. It was impossible to see the damage done, especially to Rushpaws young and inexperienced eyes, but all he had was to hope that things weren't so bad. Even if she hadn't woken up, only letting out a small noise of pain when the poultice was placed on her leg.
'Rushpaw, can you fetch me a straight stick?' the command barely registered to the black and white apprentice, who was crouched next to Twistedpaw almost protectively, glancing pu as he did his best to process what he was being told to do. "A stick." He repeated, duly, hesitating for a just a moment to give his sister one last sniff before jumping onto his paws to go and find what the medicine cat needed.
He immediately went looking for one, trying to find the best stick possible, sniffing around the undergrowth. They were right under the Great Sycamore, so there had to be plenty of sticks, right? It took too long for him to actually find one, in his own opinion, but he soon returned with a stick that he hoped was straight enough. "Is this okay? I can go find another- if. If I need to. Is she okay? She's not waking up- she's not dying, right?" He finally blurted out, returning to a spot right next to his sisters head, licking the top of it worriedly because it was the only thing he could think of doing.

Ivysplash"Okay, I tinhk we should be good here," Ivysplash took one last glance over the Battle Zone before turning back to Adderpaw and walking past him in the direction of camp. "Let's head back and report to Blackstar." Scrunching her nose at the memory of the fox stench she added, "But how about we take the long way back and avoid that area of fox scent? I wouldn't want to run into anything." With that the tortoiseshell she-cay began to lead the trek back to camp. It might take a little longer to make it back, but they should still arrive before sundown. "I sure hope there's some prey waiting on us when we get back," Ivysplash felt her stomach rumbling. "You deserve a big piece of prey too for volunteering to help me today Adderpaw. Have you considered whether you want to be a fighter or a hunter when your apprenticeship comes to an end?" Her green eyes watched the young apprentice while she waited for an answer.
[Hawkeyes258]
Sandtuft"These claws were only good for catching warm-blooded prey - not tearing down branches," the old tom huffed. Although now that he thinks about it, it would be nice to have a sunny spot in camp. He enjoyed moving his body around in an attempt to feel useful and able-bodied, but at the end of the day he could feel his age slowly getting to him. The short walk through the forest felt divine - up until a chilly breeze passed by and made all his bones ache. But he concentrated his thoughts on random small talk with his denmate as well as the peaceful sounds of the lush forest surrounding them. After a bit he noticed the sandpit coming into view. "Oh, it looks so perfectly sunny over there," he purred and continued his leisurely stroll to the area. Entering the clearing he felt the sun hit his cream pelt and sighed in relief at the feeling of the sun warming his joints. "It does get boring being an elder sometimes, but it is nice to be able to spend the day sunbathing without anyone telling you to go on patrol every five minutes," he closed his amber eyes and laid out in the clearing, his ears pricked still listening to Brindlefrost and the forest around them.

Riverstripeπ§ - Great Sycamore ;; π§ - Rushpaw & Twistedpaw & Sorrelspots ;; π§ - sweetclover1 ;;
Riverstripe's eyes seemed to dart back and forth like a mouse who'd just walked into a clearing. He pressed the poultice as gently as he could onto the swollen and bleeding leg but some pressure was necessary to ensure the poultice reached the skin and didn't just get clumped into the apprentices pelt. At her unconscious whimpering, Riverstripe offered soft murmurs of encourage to her ear. He licked up some thyme and chewed on it, it's taste was earthy yet sweet, and as he parted her jaws to feed the juices to her he spoke to himself in his mind, thyme: to help ease the nerves.
Riverstripe looked up as Rushpaw came bounding back to them with a stick clamped in his jaws, after a quick inspection in which Riverstripe ran a small silver paw down its length, he gave a nod of approval. "This will be fine, thank you."
The next part involved moving her leg which surely would be a painful process so Riverstripe was glad Twistedpaw wasn't awake to see it. He pulled a tendril from his pile of hastily strewn herbs and went to work on tying the stick to the injured leg. It needed enough pressure to ensure it would stay in place but not cause the leg to lose it's circulation. The process seemed to take some time as Riverstripe moved expertly, and he could sense Sorrelspots beginning to twitch with agitation nearby. Almost... done... he tied the last of the tendril over her paw, there! Stepping back, he turned his solemn gaze from Twistedpaw's small, sprawled from to Rushpaw. "There is much explaining to be done... but let's get Twistedpaw back into camp first. It may take some time for her to wake up..." He didn't want to say that the apprentice was out of danger yet; when, if, she woke up would be when he could truthfully assess her.
SorrelspotsπΏ - Great Sycamore ;; πΏ - Twistedpaw & Rushpaw & Riverstripe ;; πΏ - sweetclover1 ;;
As Riverstripe straightened, confirming his work was done, Sorrelspots moved forward. "We'll carry her on our back," her amber gaze turned to Rushpaw. He still appeared shell shocked, so she stepped forward and offered a soothing lick to his forehead. "Here, do you think you are strong enough to help? She can lean on me, but I'll need you to make sure she is balanced and won't fall."
Brindlefrostβ - Near Sandpit ;; β - Sandtuft ;; β - Vinedew ;;
Sandtuft outpaced her as he walked onto the sand of the sandpit and she couldn't help the twist of envy in her stomach as his paws touched the granulated earth before her own. Since her retirement she felt increasingly useless, finding herself becoming more snappish as she realised she could not turn back time. What she would give to be an apprentice again, Brindlepaw, racing throughout the pine forest, partaking in fights during the gathering, or being at the forefront of a battle against an intruding patrol. As she walked stiffly towards her denmate she sighed. Only when she joined the Skywalkers would she regain her youthful body again.
Sandtuft's words echoed her own thoughts and she nodded, "You can say that again," she grumbled, setting down beside him to bathe in the warmth. She rested her chin upon her tortoiseshell paws and allowed her eyes to close, enjoying briefly, the natural forest sounds accompanied by the sounds of the water. In fact, she'd been on the verge of dozing off when a peculiar smell wafted into her nose. She lifted her head, her ears swiveling atop her skull, "Do you smell that?" Her voice hissed through a scowl.
She could smell it, the wretched scent of rogues. Had they just passed by? Or had the direction of the wind changed? It didn't smell stale, but she didn't think they were in the immediate area.

(Hello, I'm so sorry for disappearing! I ended up in a. spot where I thought I would have internet but did not...BUt I should be on for awhile now!)
Rushpaw With; Sorrelspots, Riverstripe, Twistedpaw At; Great Sycamore aether
Rushpaw felt as if he couldn't breathe until the medicine cat said that the stick he found was fine, it could be used, and the young apprentice gave a tiny nod as he watched Riverstripe work quickly and efficiently. He kept on jumping from feeling extreme guilt to extreme fear- because this was his fault and what if Twistedpaw died? At least Riverstripe knew what he was doing and he just had to believe that everything would be okay, that Twistedpaw would get better quick and they'd start training together soon.
But with all fo those thoughts rushing through his young mind he was completely useless as he crouched next to Twistedpaw and just... stared with wide, owl like eyes. She let out a small whine of pain when he jaw was opened, Riverstripe putting some herb juices in her mouth for some unknown reason, and he looked up at Riverstripe at the sound. That couldn't be good, right? He opened his mother ready to ask what he was doing, but Riverstrip had finished tying up the little she cats worst injury and said that he had some explaining to do when they got back, immediately shutting Rushpaw up as he shied away from the older cat.
"I didn't- I don't know," He stuttered at Sorrelspots, looking at Twistedpaw once more, because the she cat suggested carrying her and he could help. "What if I hurt her even more? Or drop her?" But he'd do anything an older cat told him to do, especially right now, when he wasn't particularly functional. He barely acknowledged the soothing lick to his forehead, hackles still raised as he tried to calm down just a little bit, because his sister needed him right now. "You won't let that happen, right? I don't want- I didn't mean to- what if it makes everything worse if I help?" The young tom hadn't experienced anything like this before and honestly he was way out of his depth and he had no clue what he could actually do about it.
Nothing bad like this had happened to him, at least from where he could remember, he and Twistedpaw had normal kit hoods and nothing particularly scary had ever actually registered for him.
Until now, at least, and it was beyond paralyzing for the six moon old cat.

SplotchHeart and QuietThorn {at camp} SplotchHeart and QuietThorn padded sleepily from the warriors den. QuietThorn stopped and sat down on her haunches. QuietThorn knew her sister didnβt like to bossed around but, if they were going to be good fighters, then they had to put the clan first. Adderpaw couldn't wait to eat some prey and brag to Larkpaw about the patrol that he went on with Ivysplash. He turned his head when she asked him a question. "Fighter for sure!" He said happily. Adderpaw could hunt pretty well but his sister was way better at it than him. "Fighters are really cool and I wanna fight and be a hero!" ( Vinedew)

Owlnose with Rowanblaze at the Marsh Owlnose spots a bird pecking at the ground for a few minutes before hopping away. Owlnose crouches down and slowly moves towards the bird. He paused seeing the bird look around as if it could sense the incoming danger. Owlnose waits until the bird turns it's back to him before moving closer. However, before he could lunge and pounce, the bird suddenly flies up to the treetops. Owlnose grumbles to himself and shakes his head. "Just my luck." He muttered to himself. ( aether)
