H O O T S W I P E
When the leader spoke to him, Hootswipe couldn't help but flatten his ears defensively. For some reason, he never anticipated being spoken to by Puddlestar, though he knew that was foolish. The great gray queen would never let anyone go unnoticed, no matter how lazy or snide they were.
He responded as he always had- politely and fictitiously.
"And I would be lucky to, Puddlestar."
Swallowing his urge to gag, the tom forced himself to be agreeable. Moving from his resting place, he padded over to sit beside Alligatorsnap. His walk was a funny cross between a saunter and a trudge, but it got him where he needed to go- close enough to scoff at the state of the deputy's pelt.
"Yeah," he grumbled as he reached over to hook a small leaf with his claws, "you might not, but what about your twin?"
Flicking the debris away, Hootswipe turned to groom his own short fur. In the process, his eyes swept the camp, searching for Gatortail's dark form. When he didn't spot it, however, and his fur was sufficiently clean, he sat up, and cast the deputy an amused look.
"I wonder, which apprentice will be named first?"
Turning his eyes away, he watched as Whitetalon took his leave, only to be replaced by Twilightsong. One of his ears twitched with annoyance as he watched the procession, but he bit his tongue before he seemed too impatient.
It'll be over before you know it.

dawnflame molly ; queen ; demi
Dawnflame was trembling, physically shaking from the emotions roiling through her. Her heart had yet to slow from its anxious racing, her stomach turning with anger and lingering fear. Pain radiated up her whole left side as she limped into camp from the direction of the dirt-place. Her green eyes flared with worry-fueled anger as she peered back at the kittens trailing behind her. Luckily Crescentrain had caught onto their shenanigans before someone - especially the little ones themselves had gotten hurt. "I am so disappointed in all of you. You're not tiny anymore, you're old enough to have sense in your brains! What if one of you had gotten hurt? Or, Starclan forbid, you three had gotten far enough that warriors needed to save you from a predator - what if they had gotten hurt? I understand the need to explore but you can't always think about only yourselves!" the molly scolded, her chest aching at the thoughts - the memories. Her leg had been mangled saving a group of new apprentices who were being foolish, she knew the price of carelessness. "Maybe I should speak to Puddlestar, because I'm not sure whether you lot are responsible enough to become apprentices! Acting just like newborn kits," she growled, speaking to all kits now that they'd reached the nursery, where she had demanded Galekit wait. Curling her tail tightly around her paws, trying to reign in her temper. She knew that they were young but the number of times these kits got into trouble was honestly concerning. This is why she'd never wanted to become a mother! She clearly wasn't any good at it. Her adopted children were heathens, some warriors afraid to mentor them because of their troublesome reputation. Dawnflame's chest hurt terribly. Why couldn't parenting be as natural to her as warrior duties? "You all scare me when you act so recklessly," her voice was much softer now, gazing at each kitten in turn. puddlestar molly ; leader ; straight
The morning had passed uneventfully, Puddlestar chatting with her clan-mates, acknowledging their feelings on the building humidity within the bayou. A storm was probably on the horizon. A frown touched her muzzle when she thought of her conversation with Twilightsong, who mentioned a fading puddle. How could that mean a drought when the air was so dense and green-leaf was in full effect? Briefly she wondered what that could mean for herself but pushed the thoughts away - whatever would be, would be. As for now, there were kits who had waited long enough to become apprentices.
Silky light gray fur rippled over lean muscle as the leader stood, the shade casting light splotches across her form. It was time. "All cats old enough to wade through the mire, gather beneath the Perch for a clan meeting!" she called out, pride ringing in her tone, blue eyes warm as she gazed down at her clan-mates. Her tail-tip twitched as she watched Dawnflame hurriedly lick at the fur of her charges, desperate to make them appear decent for the ceremony. Purrs escaped her at the memories of each moment her kittens had left the camp in search of a mentor. ❖ [ everyone! ] ❖ [ in camp ] ❖
sloughkit molly ; kit ; unknown
Sloughkit ducked her head at her adopted mother's scolding, her little ears and tail drooping as she trailed after her siblings. She hadn't meant to make Dawnflame so angry! Or to endanger her clan-mates.. much less her brothers! The molly felt horrible and properly scolded as she stood beside Moonkit and Brightkit, trying to sink into the ground.
Her odd coat fluffed up in alarm at the mention of delaying their ceremony, her light blue gaze pleading with the older feline. "Oh no, please!" she whispered, whiskers quivering. "I'm real sorry," her tone was earnest. Her fore-paws shuffled into the ground. Sloughkit jolted with excitement at the call from Puddlestar and let out soft purrs when her mother quickly licked at her messy fur. Still, she didn't move, worried about Dawnflame's verdict. She hadn't meant to make the molly afraid! ❖ [ ^^ ] ❖ [ location ] ❖

Moonkit Tom ; Kit ; 6 Moons
Even though the group was receiving the scolding of a lifetime, the young tom seemed a bit unfazed by their decisions to go out. He let out a hefty sigh as Dawnflame threatened to tell Puddlestar and take away their apprenticeship. Yet, he knew better. Wrapping his not so small body around her, he purred softly, eyes warm as he looked at his frustrated adoptive nother. "Oh, come on, Ma! I'm sure plenty of kits get into trouble. Plus, I'm sure you'd love to be free of us at last." His tone was very light and full of laughter as he nuzzled her cheek, before bouncing up in joy at the call from their leader. His fur fluffed up along his spine and his tail lashed from side to side. The moment Dawnflame started to lap at him and his siblings, the tom immediately started to flatten his fur with long strokes of his tongue. He was determined to make himself look decent before the molly could get to him.

Brighkit If it weren't for that mouse-brained Crescentrain, they absolutely would have been able to get away with this! But of course not, and here he was, getting lectured by their adoptive mothered while she was still breathing heavily and apparently panicking at the thought of them getting out. Brightkits ears were flat against his head as Dawnflame continued his lecture, all to used to it but still wanting to get out of this situation.
The cream and white kit slid his gaze over to Moonkit, who was insisting that all kits got into trouble and that Dawnflame was going to be happy to get rid of them today.
Ah, so he chose death today.
Even Brightkit knew better than doing that. "I'm sorry, we just wanted to see past the dirt place. We were gonna be safe," He whined, but it was tiny, and he didn't go close to Dawnflame like the rest of his siblings did. Instead, he was a bit closer to Sloughkit, who was just as upset about upsetting Dawnflame. His ears perked up when he heard Puddlestar call everyone for their ceremony.
"You don't... you won't really make Puddestar wait longer?" He asked hesitantly, peeking out to see the rest of the clan make their way out of their dens to gather around Puddlestar.
Jaymask and Echoflame
Jaymask and Echoflame had been sharing a bird when it was time for the ceremony. They both exchanged a surprised glance, because Dawnflames adopted kits were certainly a pawful and whoever their mentors would be were going to have to have an abundance of patience. "Well, lets see who gets to be a mentor," Jaymask commented with a light laugh as Echoflame shook her head in amusement.
"They're all good kits, c'mon Jaymask. It's just... Well. When the four of them get together, it's a bit chaotic." She snorted back as they found a spot to get settled down for the ceremony.

-- ❁ -- Crescentrain in camp || with Jaymask and Echoflame Oh, silly kits. It took the queen quite by surprise, bumping into a couple of small fluffballs in the dirtplace. They had already finished their business, and was just about to meander out when one of them must've bumped right into their leg because they were off wandering in their mind again, coming to and blinking down at the kits curiously. "Oh, hello," they had said kindly. "How is your day going today?"
It was only later they fully comprehended the kits were trying to go through the dirtplace, and Crescentrain's mass of fur had blocked the exit, but at the moment they were truly simply engaging in some nice conversation, even though the kits before her seemed somewhat restless and consistently peering over her shoulder. Apparently they had stalled the kits long enough for their disappearance to dawn on poor Dawnflame, who was at once fired up to perform a camp-wide search. When the queen had poked her head into the dirtplace, poor thing trembling, Crescentrain had looked up over the heads of the kits, blinked slowly, and said matter-of-factly, "Oh, hello. Your kits are here."
Oh well, all well's that ends well, and well it did as the kits were no longer plotting to escape camp but were in fact tucked firmly under their mother's grooming tongue as they prepared to become apprentices. How lovely. "Their day must be going well indeed," Crescentrain mused outloud to the cats nearest to them, which, once their brain fully comprehended their faces, were in fact Jaymask and Echoflame. "Oh, hello."

dawnflame molly ; queen ; demi
The molly was beginning to calm down, her adopted kittens all around her and the leader having called the ceremony. They hadn't gone far and no one had gotten hurt, thank Starclan. As she came down from the anger and fear, the stabbing pain from her leg became more prevalent. Dawnflame winced, attempting to shift the twisted appendage off the ground to shift her weight.
Her green gaze softened on Sloughkit and Brightkit as they worried about her decision. Moonkit on the other hand was being quite the little charmer, or at least he thought he was. Dawnflame cuffed his ear lightly, fighting off a purr. "No kits get in trouble as much as you four," she replied, shaking her head as sternly as she was able. Her heart leaped into her throat at the mention of being rid of them. While the pseudo-queen was excited to attempt to return to her warrior duties, she would genuinely miss the little fur-balls. They'd grown on her, setting up camp in her heart. "Hush, Moonkit, or I'll make sure you get grumpy Stormcall as your mentor," she warned, nuzzling him fondly, taking in his familiar scent.
Dawnflame turned to her other kits, licking Galekit's forehead, brushing some dust from Brightkit's pelt, and running a soothing tail down Sloughkit's spine. This was such a big day for them and she was honored to be apart of it. "No, Brightkit, I won't hold you back. I couldn't do that, not when you've all waited so long. You four were a lot of work but I was... am blessed to be your mother. I hope you know that," she murmured, gazing at each kitten with an unspoken love shimmering in her gaze. Then she turned and limped heavily towards the center of the clearing, under the Perch, leading her adopted litter. She briefly wondered if they would remember she existed after this. sloughkit molly ; kit ; unknown
The little molly was jittering with excitement now that her apprenticeship wasn't threatened, her heart racing in her chest like a stampede of squirrels. When Dawnflame looked at them so warmly, she nearly exploded with purrs, brushing against her siblings. To know they were wanted, that she with all her flaws, was wanted... it meant so much. Now it was time to become an apprentice. Then the best warrior she could be for Bayouclan.
The cream and white tabby bounced forwards, a skip in her step. She could barely stay still, resisting the urge to run circles around her litter-mates. She took up the rear with Brightkit, trying to puff out her chest and make herself look bigger under all the eyes of the clan. It was a little intimidating. ❖ [ ^^ ] ❖ [ location ] ❖
puddlestar molly ; leader ; straight
Watching her clan gather beneath her, the gray molly curled her tail around her paws, waiting patiently. Her face held a gentle softness as she peered at the felines who had come to mean so much to her. Sometimes she wondered if Dappledstar had ever felt like this, looking out over the clan. Her predecessor was quite the intelligent feline but she had always been so distant. Her head tilted thoughtfully, as she got lost in the past for a moment. Puddlestar blinked back to the present when Dawnflame led her kits into the center of the clearing, coming to stand underneath her. She frowned at the limp that was clearly bothering the queen - worry settling in her stomach. She'd have to talk with the molly and Twilightsong after this... "Cats of Bayouclan, it is the New Moon! Which means that the kittens Dawnflame took in are ready to be made apprentices. Galekit, Moonkit, Sloughkit, and Brightkit, you have reached your sixth moon, I hope each of you are ready for today. As tradition states, we will take the kits out to the Bog and experience an introduction to mentorship with a few different warriors. Alligatorsnap and I will observe and tonight we will pair up an apprentice with a warrior who seemed to suit the kitten well. I leave Whitetalon in charge while we're away," the molly announced, deciding not to waste anymore time. Hopefully they would find decent pairings quickly and be able to have a little downtime before the official ceremony tonight. She'd have to speak to the warriors she and Alligatorsnap picked out before hand. ❖ [ everyone! ] ❖ [ in camp ] ❖

-- ❃ -- Crowlight at the ceremony || open
Crowlight caught sight of the soon-to-be apprentices in their excitement, bounding about and getting their fur neat and clean under Dawnflame's firm tongue. She couldn't help but smile a little. She always thought it was sweet and incredibly self-less of Dawnflame to take the kits under her wing - Crowlight couldn't imagine trying to mother one kit, let alone four!
She's wondered what it would be like to mentor a young cat, though. Would it be mind-numbingly frustrating, trying to get a ball of energy to quiet down and listen? Or would it be delightful and rewarding? Both? Perhaps the most nerve-wracking thing is messing up and leaving a terrible impression on a young impressionable mind. Youth is so shapeable, adulthood marked by history, and the thought of being the one cat that left an apprentice scarred lowkey terrified Crowlight. Then again, couldn't it go the other way around? She had so much gratitude towards her own mentor, who accepted her despite her fears, anger, and bitterness. Probably the only cat who, other than Darkriver, kept her somewhat emotionally stable. Could she too provide a young mind with hope and inspiration?
Crowlight looked around for Spottedlily for a moment before taking a seat. The short hunting session the two of them undertook was... terrifyingly pleasant. It was as if once she was in the other molly's presence her nerves faded away. Crowlight could only hope that Spottedlily didn't mind her mildly awkward chatter - Crowlight was not one for small talk. She also managed to bag a few birds along the way, so, a perfectly good morning before arriving just in time for Puddlestar's announcement. She kind of wanted to watch the traditional kit-and-warrior venture into the Bog, even if she wasn't a chosen warrior to mentor. So she sat, her tail tip tapping against her front paws, awaiting the move to the Bog.

Brighkit Brightkit let out a small sigh of relief when he was assured that he wasn't going to be held back from his apprenticeship. He head butted her affectionately, because when he did think about it, he would miss the queen. His chest felt all fuzzy and warm for a moment while she fussed over him, even if she let out a whine and tried to squirm away from her when she found dust on his pelt, shaking it out once she was finished with it. "Aww, I thought you said we're troublemakers though," He squeaked out, but he was certainly happy to know that she wasn't just happy to get rid of the four of them the moment she could. "Promise we can visit?" Brightkit couldn't help but ask, trying to puff out his chest a little to make himself look a little bit bigger than he actually was, following his littermates to the Perch, trying to peak out infront of Galekit and Moonkit once they settled down for Puddlestar begin to speak.
He tried his best to sit up a little straighter, chin tilting up when his name was called out, leaning forward to try and look at the group of warriors around them. Who could it be? Who would be my mentor? What if I totally mess up and no one wants me as their apprentice? Would I be kicked out of the clan if that happens? He wondered worriedly, shifting from one paw to another, trying to mirror Galekit because obviously she was the most mature out of the three of them. "Who's it gonna be?" He hissed out to his littermates, trying to be as quiet as possible so no one else could see him talk to them, flexing his claws as the mixture of nerves and excitement started to overtake him.

(( may i present: chadclaw
Blazingsky - tom - 32 - heterosexual A thick and muscular cat, Blazingsky likes to think of himself as roguishly handsome, with a square face and dark tabby stripes. His auburn fur is ridiculously fluffy, which does not help him too much in the bayou, but he likes to keep it impeccably groomed to its max fluff at all times - a speck of mud on his pelt makes him gasp in despair. His eyes are a glowing amber. Blazingsky is a very confident cat. You might even say, narcissistic - indeed there have been times Blazingsky nearly drowned himself gazing too closely at his own reflection. This pride and sense of entitlement, especially to respect and power, despite his utterly mediocre warrior skills makes him absolutely insufferable to most cats around him.
Rank: warrior Family: open! i'd love to him to have a sibling, someone to balance him out a bit Crush/Mate: he is an atrocious flirt, but does so more for the reputation of being "good with the mollies" (he is not) Other: any scheming cat is welcome to use him as a pawn for their dastardly plans
