why hello! welcome to my little thread about a potential rp in the making - a clue-inspired murder mystery, with a twist!
i'm mostly inspired by the 1985 movie Clue, where six guests gather in a house for dinner only for someone to get abruptly murdered. as they scramble to figure out who did it, people one by one begin to fall to the murderer's hand.
my concept and proposal for this murder mystery is, rather than having a set murderer and having players figure out who it is, the idea is that every player has a motive, goal, and plan to kill their target at this dinner party - but only one of you succeeds. the rest of you are left to scramble covering up your own attempts at murder as well as uncovering the true murderer. of course, if you do find the murderer, your options are numerous: do you turn them in? do you help them cover up their crime? or do you blackmail them into giving you what you want?
other ideas include: -- every person will be given other, smaller goals to complete within this dinner party/house as well as their main goal, to kill the host. some people's goals with conflict with other people's goals. -- to figure out who the murderer gets to be, it'll probably be a roll of the dice before being written out. -- there will be a few phases of gameplay: the lounge, where people explore the house and set up their traps; the dinner, where people converse and wait for their traps to spring; the reveal, where the body and method of murder are unveiled; and the investigation, where people try to figure out what the heck is going on as well as attempt to complete their smaller goals -- there will be NPC's for players to kill off as well!
if you're intrigued by the concept above, or have ideas of your own, please let me know down below! i'm hoping to see if there is interest in general before i start setting this whole thing up

a spot for designing the front page and collecting info!
-- ❊ -- -- intro -- Mr. Body is a well-known figure in the community, mostly for his extravagant parties and his open interest in the occult. You have been invited to his home for one of his typical dinner parties, apparently called for Mr. Body to share some important news that would only apply to you and the other party-goers. You know him well, very well, whether you be a spurned lover or a backstabbed business partner, and you, along with all your fellow party-goers, want nothing more than to see Mr. Body dead. Welcome to the Watercrest Manor. Every player here has a motive, goal, and plan to kill their target at this dinner party - but only one of you succeeds. The rest of you are left to scramble covering up your own attempts at murder as well as uncovering the true murderer. Of course, if you do find the murderer, your options are numerous: do you turn them in? Do you help them cover up their crime? Or do you blackmail them into giving you what you want? This roleplay is inspired particularly by the 1985 Clue movie and thus will be taking place around that time, so imagine that level of technology and style of dress, with landlines and singing telegrams. And who knows? Perhaps there will be more than one body at this manor... -- ❊ -- -- rules ---- Follow all forum rules please! -- Avoid godmodding or powerplaying please. Do not take control of another person's character or overpower your character; play fair! -- When you are out of character, remain kind, and use some form of () [] (()) to indicate OOC speech. -- When it comes to activity, hop on a couple times a week! If two weeks pass without notice, your character will be gently removed from play. Life happens, so take care! This is a place for enjoyment and fun, not stress! -- When it comes to literacy, this will be a semi-literate roleplay, so go for a paragraph or two! Think character thoughts, feelings, and behavior. Give your roleplay partner something to work off of - your character asking questions or performing actions is a great way to maintain momentum! -- Yes, you may kill NPC's! No, you may not kill other player's characters (without explicit permission)! -- You may create up to two characters, all at least 20 years of age. LGBTQ+ welcome and encouraged! -- Yes, there is murder, but when it comes to violence think PG or PG-13. -- Ideas and plotting are welcome in our chat page!
