I was pretty surprised that Tinycloud from Skyclan's Destiny didn't like her warrior name, has this ever happened before in the Warriors universe? The only thing that comes to mind is when Berrynose was relieved his suffix was -nose because he was worried about being named after his tail.
I'm torn between feeling a little amused and sorry for Tinycloud, to feeling that Tinycloud complaining about her name was a little disrespectful to Leafstar, especially since she was among the first warriors born in the gorge to get her warrior name, so it was a fairly special ceremony to begin with. With some exceptions like Brightpaw being re-named to Lostface, or Stormkit to Crookedkit, I don't recall any other examples of a cat's prefix getting changed, so I was a little caught off-guard by this scene:
"Tinycloud!" The white she-cat's voice rose indignantly above the rest. "I'm not tiny anymore. I thought I'd be big enough to have a different name." (page 22).
What are your guy's thoughts?

I think that leaders should try to consult with the apprentice's mentor first to get a good idea of a name that the apprentice would like/a name that suits their appearance or personality. Just to avoid those instances of warriors being stuck with a name they don't like.

Hah, it's funny how Berrynose didn't wanna be called Berrystumpytail, and then there's an actual Stumpytail in the books lol

This is pretty disrespectful (What did she expect? For Leafstar to change her prefix? I don't think Clovertail would've liked it... and it's not a common thing), but it's weird nobody complained about stupid names.

Graystripe mentioned he wondered why Bramblestar didn't name Sparkpelt Sparkfire, as that would have been a good way to remember Firestar.

Tinycloud complaining about her name is weird because like, gurl I'm gonna assume you never did while you were a 'paw? Cats never change their prefix outside very very specific cases (And cases like Crookedstar's and Brightheart's are not meant to be taken lightly), but if she just expected Leafstar to name her Giantcloud or something she needs o be schooled on how names work. It's not a bad name, come on Tinycloud, it's cute! :U

To be fair, if a name genuinely upsets a cat, I do think they have a right to speak up about it. Some cats might be proud of their names, and others might not. She clearly had an issue with being called Tiny alot, and she didn’t get to choose any part of her name. It’s like someone saying Lostface is a fine name and that Crookedjaw has to shut up when he’s named after something that really upset him.

Those names are clearly very derogatory and insulting and nobody thinks they're okay, the situations for her name and those two aren't even similar. >.>

That's a good idea and they should consult the parents too

It might be really important to her to not be named something that makes her feel lesser than what she is. If Tinycloud is uncomfortable being called Tinycloud, why can’t she ask to have it changed? It doesn’t matter which situations are more severe, if a cat is not happy with their name, why should they be forced to keep it? She’s not tiny anymore, she didn’t want to be named something she wasn’t, I just feel like it’s not all that great to tell a cat to suck it up if they don’t think their name suits them. What if a leader names an apprentice they don’t like something petty? I wouldn’t want to have to keep that name.

Squirrelflight was dreading the idea of being named Squirreltail according to her SE prologue.

I think if a cat doesn't like their name they shouldn't have to keep it. While Tinycloud was being disrespectful she shouldn't have to be stuck with a name she genuinely doesn't like. It's what her clanmates are going to call her for the rest of her life, after all. Sure, it's nothing like Crookedstar and Lostface, but that doesn't mean that it's not important to her. Maybe they could approach their leader and request a name change some time after their warrior ceremony. After a day or two, or longer than that. Just to see if they might end up liking or accepting their name. They should be allowed to do this only once, though. Or, like others already suggested, the leader consults with their mentor and parents. Squirrelflight was dreading the idea of being named Squirreltail according to her SE prologue. That's pretty funny. Her German name is Eichhornschweif (Squirreltail) for some reason. And yes, in her SE prologue she hopes her warrior name won't be Eichhornflug (Squirrelflight). No clue why they changed her name in the first place though.

I like Sparkfire better, but I think it is good Bramblestar didn't name her that because I want Firestar to be the only one with Fire, and I want him to have a unique name because of how unique he was.

We already had a Firefern, so using Firestar's name in his honor some way has already been done. If we can have a Firefern, we could've had a Sparkfire.
