π Palefoot was stalking a juicy vole, silently creeping up on it. She pounced with extended claws, and slit it's throat before it could react. She sniffed the air, and tasted something a little further away from where she was at. It was near the cliff, and without thinking, darted towards the cliff, making sure not to go so fast.

βοΈ Pinestripe watched her apprentice's movements closely. As Amberpaw's claw hooked on the squirrel a relieved breath escaped her mouth. It was great to see her apprentice in action and it was even better to see him succeed. She raised to her paws, swiftly making her way over to Amberpaw. "That was excellent!" She exclaimed proudly. (Good night!) Sunclan; Amberpaw beamed with pride. He picked up the squirrel and met her half-way, dropping the squirrel at her paws. "I wasn't sure if that was the right way to do it," He admitted, "But it worked out anyway. Watch me not catch another squirrel for a moon!" He laughed and shook his head. Thank you, Starclan, for this prey, he remembered to think.

βοΈ "Oh I'm sure you'll catch another one soon now that you've got the hang of it. The right way to catch prey isn't set in stone, as long as you catch it, it's good and every cat has it's own way of hunting." Pinestripe smiled, it was a nice big squirrel too. Starclan had blessed them today.

Sunclan;
"Hornetpaw's going to be jealous." Amberpaw remarked with a tinge of amusement to his tone. He wasn't one to brag, but he was feeling very good about himself all the same. Maybe, when they got back to camp, Pinestripe could take the squirrel.

(Sure Meadow, Palefoot can just run into them!) π "No, we won't go near the edge." Wolfmist reassured her apprentce. She had to figure out where Flashpaw's fear of water came from some day but she decided to leave that topic in the back of her mind for now. It was someting they'd better discuss one-on-one. The warrior chuckled softly at Iceleap's words. "Oof, I can imagine that. Hopefully you'll be able to go out more these days." She replied to the tom. "I've been doing well, trying to keep Flaspaw entertained." She gently flicked her apprentice with her tail. Moonclan: Flashpaw gave a nod. She walked with the two warriors, she flicked her ear as she listened to the forest around them. She looked off to the side, hearing leaves rustling. She crouched and carefully stalked into the bushes. She watched a mouse carefully as it nibbling on a seed of some kind. Iceleap gave a nod. "I can imagine," he said. The small tom had witnessed the apprentice bother her mentor enough times to tell that it was hard. He looked at Wolfmist. "Do you enjoy mentoring though," he asked her. Iceleap perked his ears as they were approaching the cliffs.

βοΈ Tigerpaw stood in the clearing, ready to face Koipaw for their sparring session. She hadn't sparred with the tom before and even though she tried her best not to have prejudice about him being a former kittypet, the stereotype of them being soft and bad fighters was still rooted in the clan. She hoped Koipaw didn't fit that stereotype. Sunclan
Koipaw Unfortunately for Tigerpaw, he did fir that stereotype. Koipaw had never needed to fight or hunt in his life. The first few moons of his life had been spent lounging around getting fed and pampered. Koipaw stood at the other end, facing down Tigerpaw, having accepted his fate. Hopefully she'd go easy on him.

Sunclan;
Meadowsweet stepped back to give the two apprentices space, watching them keenly. She was curious as to how this would go, but had her expectations tempered. There was no real reason why Koipaw should already be a good fighter.

βοΈ βI bet thatβs true. He is persistent though.β Pinestripe chuckled. βWe could do some casual hunting now. Iβll watch you and give you some more tips where needed, does that sound good?β She suggested, Amberpaw was already pretty advanced in hunting. They would talk about hunting birds the next time, when his claw has grown back a little.
βοΈ Tigerpaw pondered for a moment on what move sheβd start with. She didnβt want him to think sheβd hold back, however she wasnβt really keen on knocking him down right away either. After circling around the calico tom and getting within range, she quickly swiped one paw at his flank. Right after she swiped her other paw at his frontleg, hoping to unbalance him.
π βI do.β Wolfmist nodded as her gaze followed Flashpaw. βItβs a lot of work, thatβs for sure. But thereβs no better way to serve your clan than to make sure new warriors are trained well.β Her tailtip flicked softly in the wind and she returned her gaze to the small tom. βWhat about you? Wouldnβt you like to have an apprentice?β She asked, tilting hee head slightly. Iceleap was a hard working tom, she was sure heβd treat an apprentice well.

Koipaw The sudden movement made Koipaw jump slightly in surprise. He backed away as she swiped at his flank, not even noticing that she was aiming to trip him. He stumbled, just managing to catch his balance again by bringing around his tail. Koipaw backed up, unsure of how to counter the sudden attack.
Mallowpool "Good move Tigerpaw." Mallowpool praised, watching the admittedly one sided fight go down. Koipaw seemed to be backing up and watching the other apprentice, but he didn't move to attack. Mallowpool wondered if he was more suited to watching an oppenent and strategizing than he was brute force.

βοΈ Tigerpaw felt happy at her mentorβs praise, though Koipawβs reluctance to fight back made her slightly uncomfortable. She waited for a few heartbeats, giving him the opportunity to strike back. He probably didnβt have much battletraining yet so the least she could do was give him a chance to try something.

Koipaw When Tigerpaw didn't move, Koipaw approached. He swiped out with his paw, aiming for the part of her leg that bent. He thought that it might cause her leg to collapse for a moment and give him some time. Though, he wasn't very fast or strong so it would be easy to avoid for a cat that had been moving and training since she was practically born.

Sunclan;
Amberpaw agreed and began to dig a shallow hole to bury his squirrel in. Done, he once again drew the scents of the forest over his scent glands. He caught a whiff of mouse on the breeze and, with a small nod at Pinestripe to indicate that he'd found something, he began to pad off in the direction of the scent. It took him a while to spot it, sitting in the undergrowth, it's nose twitching. He lowered himself onto his haunches.
Meadowsweet nodded encouragingly at the two apprentices. It struck her that while Koipaw didn't have much innate talent in fighting, his instincts were good - the way he had caught his balance had impressed her and his decision to aim at the crook of her leg to unbalance her was good even if he didn't execute it with much accuracy.

βοΈ Admittedly Koipawβs intention was good, if only heβd used a bit more speed and force. Tigerpaw lifted her front paws to escape from Koipawβs swipe, balancing on her hindlegs. From this position she took off, aiming to lock her white frontpaws around Koipawβs chest and neck in a βhugβ-like grip. With the help of the small momentum of speed from her take off she tried to wrestle the young tom to the ground. She made an effort not to use too much force, so she could give him a window to wiggle himself free if he wanted.

Koipaw Koipaw let out a short yelp of surprise as he was wrestled to the ground. He struggled for a moment, but seemed to be unable to wiggle himself free easily. Koipaw huffed, trying once more before giving up "I give I give." he mumbled "That was smart Tigerpaw." his tone was as quiet as always, but he didn't actually seem that upset over the loss.

(I- I had to write this twice :/ )
Sunclan;
"Well done, both of you!" Meadowsweet called out kindly and began to make her way back over to them. "That last move you did, Tigerpaw, was executed incredibly smoothly. I can see you've been training well." She smiled at the younger she-cat and turned to Koipaw. "Koipaw, I think I know where your strengths lie now." Good instincts were hard to train into a young cat so to see that Koipaw already had them was heartening to say the least.

It do be like that sometimes.)
Sunclan
Mallowpool Mallowpool bounced over butting Tigerpaw in a friendly manner with her shoulder "Very good! You have the talent, that was some quick thinking." she praised, nodding. They hadn't done a lot of pure battle training, and Tigerpaw was already showing great skill in it for a cat her age. Mallowpool was even more excited to train further with her.
Koipaw Hauling himself up from the ground and into a sitting position Koipaw asked "What does that mean?" he tilted his head, wondering what strengths he had compared to a clan born apprentice.

Moonclan: Iceleap gave a nod to her question. "I would love to teach an apprentice," he said to her. He wasn't going to keep it a secret, he would love to be able to teach a young cat battle and hunting techniques. He often wondered if there was a reason he hadn't gotten one yet. But he knew that he was still young for being a warrior, there was still plenty of time for being able to become a mentor.
Flashpaw pounced and gave a quick bite on to the mouse. She dug a small hole to bury it in to pick up later on the way back to the camp. She trotted back to where the warriors were. She flicked her ear as she listened to the conversation as she got closer to them.

Sunclan;
Meadowsweet drew him over to the side to give Mallowpool room to teach Tigerpaw. "You aren't as hopelessly bad as you think you are, that's what I mean." She responded, "I'll be honest, you are very inexperienced and it shows, however, you made some great choices in that spar back there. Ones that, with a bit more confidence and practice, could have tipped the fight in your favour. Good instincts are so important - after all, in battle, half of it is observation, anticipating your opponent's moves and what moves you can use to give yourself the upper paw." She paused, realising she was rambling. I'm about to overwhelm my apprentice before he's even truly started.

βοΈ Pinestripe gave Amberpaw an encouraging nod in return and silently stalked after the apprentice, making sure to keep a safe distance so she wouldnβt get in the way. Her green gaze was locked on Amberpaw, watching his moves with great interest.
βοΈ At Koipawβs voice Tigerpaw let the tom go and stepped away from him. βThanks Koipaw, you did well too!β She meowed and she meant it. First times sparring were always scary and his move was pretty good. She hoped he wouldnβt be discouraged. At the praise of the warriors the striped apprentice beamed proudly. βThank you! I hope I can become as good as you Mallowpool.β Watching her mentor had been a great inspiration to her and the little lessons they had were etched into her mind.
π βI think youβd be a good mentor too. You know, you can always ask Seastep to get a good word in for you. Iβm sure heβd be glad to do that.β Wolfmist suggested. During their conversation sheβd kept an eye on Flashpaw and the tail twitched contently as she spotted her catching some prey. βWould you look at that, Flashpaw beat us to catching the first prey of the patrol.β She grinned as the young she-cat came up closer. βNice work Flashpaw.β

Sunclan;
Amberpaw moved toward the mouse slowly. If squirrels were all about speed, catching mice was about how little noise you could make. He remembered during one of his very first lessons with Pinestripe how she had told him that a mouse would hear his heartbeat well before it would see him. Remaining calm, Amberpaw took his time until he was so close he could practically already taste it. He waggled his haunches and leapt, dispatching the mouse before it could scrabble way. Thank you, Starclan.

Moonclan: Flashpaw smiled at the praise from her mentor. "Well you two were talking no wonder you didn't catch anything yet," she said, meaning the comment to be light hearted. Patrols were a good way to get to know clanmates outside of the camp. She looked at the two warriors, flicking her tail.
Iceleap smiled at her words. "I'll have to see about that," he said. "But it's not like we have any kits at the moment but I suppose for future reference." He wondered if he should try and talk to Seastep about it, wondering if it would be a good idea. He knew he often overworked himself, so would it be good to give him an apprentice?

Mallowpool "Whenever you are trying to trip your enemy, make sure to move quickly afterwards. They'd only be off balance for a short while if they're skilled in battle." Mallowpool added, wanting to give some advice where she saw fit "If you try and trip your opponent, but they see it coming, they can attack your outstretched paw."
Koipaw The apprentice listened, giving the other little nods every time she made a point "I see." he meowed, looking relieved that he wasn't as bad as he thought he'd be in a fight.

Sunclan;
Meadowsweet considered what basic moves she should teach first. "Alright, are you ready to learn some moves?" The front paw strike was one of the most commonly used moves in battle as well as being one of the simplest to perform - this was where she would start.
