βοΈ As Amberpaw landed his soft blow on Pinestripe she didnβt flinch or dodge, trying to give the apprentice the chance to show what heβd do next. His attack might not have been the best, but it was a great starting move. Pinestripe was sure they could build off this. She gave the young tom a nod, encouraging him to make another move. She wondered what more Amberpaw could come up with, then they could work off the moves he already knew. That way it would hopefully be easier for the tom to pick up battletechniques, even though he wasnβt really confident about it yet.
βοΈ βActually, yes. I wanted to talk to you about filling the position of medicine cat apprentice.β Rainfern meowed, curling his grayish tail over his paws. βDriftkit has been staying in my den for moons, he has an affinity with herbs and I think the life of a medicine cat will fit him better than the life of a warrior.β He explained and glanced over at Driftkitβs shaggy nest. It was in desperate need of a remodeling. βWhat do you think?β The large tom asked Emberstar, shifting his gaze back to the ginger leader.
βοΈ βAh okay.β Tigerpaw meowed thoughtfully. As the pair reached their destination the thoughts about the water monsters flew away. The apprentice jumped around excitedly. βWhat are we going to do?β She asked, her amber gaze wide as she glanced at the water. It wasnβt too deep, but it still looked kinda scary to be swimming it. Though, Tigerpaw was sure if she learned the right moves from Mallowpool it should be fine. She trusted her mentor immensely.
π Wolfmist had lead Flashpaw to the training area and started circling around the apprentice. βShow me what youβve got!β She challenged the young she-cat, her tail swishing behind her as she walked. The warrior had always liked sparring and it was a great exercise before trying to learn new techniques. It was a relief Flashpaw was excited about almost everything Wolfmist tried to teach her. She wouldnβt have wanted an apprentice who would come to training with dragged feet. Or an apprentice that would question everything theyβd do.

Sunclan;
Amberpaw considered what he could do next. He didn't really know any specific moves so he wondered if he should draw inspiration from when he had used to play fight with his denmates as a kit. Thinking about this, he almost decided to leap at her, but decided against it. The smaller cat darted towards her and attempted to strike both her forepaw at the same time, hoping she would loose her footing. Again, he was lacking strength and confidence behind his blows, but Amberpaw's accuracy wasn't bad for a novice and paired with his agility, something could definitely be made of it.

all good life gets busy) Moonclan: Flashpaw gave a nod heading into the clearing, she kept an eye on her mentor. She waited before lashing her front paw out, making sure her claws were in, to hopefully land a front paw strike. She was thankful for having Wolfmist as a mentor, the warrior willing to teach her as much as she wanted.

Koipaw Koipaw watched with interest as she easily scooped a fish out of the water and finished it off with a clean blow. He nodded slowly, watching her movements and actions. When she indicated for him to try he copied her moves, moving slowly to the waters edge and watching the ripples below. However when it came to scooping the fish out he missed. He lashed out, claws grazing the fish but not hooking into it. Koipaw shook the water off his muzzle and frowned. He just couldn't get it.
Mallowpool "Now," the warrior gestured to the rocks behind her with a somewhat dramatic flair "Today we're going to learn how to move on these rocks." the rocks in question were the ones that a cat could step on in the river without getting too wet "If you want to be able to fight and move around the waterside you need to learn what rocks are safe to step on and which ones you should avoid. One misstep in the middle of the fight can cost you the win after all!" she walked to the waterside "If you had to guess, what makes a rock safe to step on?" she flicked her tail towards a patch of rocks near the waters edge.

βοΈ Pinestripe was impressed with the speed and accuracy in Amberpaw's moves. The force which he struck her with wasn't enough to knock her over, but it was something they could work on. "Alright Amberpaw. You did well. I think you have a lot of talents we can work with." The striped warrior smiled. She'd always liked to focus more on the good things, rather than things that didn't go well. It was her way of teaching and she hoped it would benefin Amberpaw's confidence. "You're very fast and accurate. That's great for surprising a possible enemy."
π Wolfmist grinned at the focused look on Flashpaw's face. The apprentice lashed out with force and accuracy, Wolfmist noted approvingly. She dodged Flashpaw's paw and heaved a sheated paw towards the apprentice's flank as she jumped to her side, hoping Flashpaw would be fast enough to dodge it.

Moonclan: Flashpaw just barely managed to get out of the way of Wolfmist's attack, the apprentice making the mistake of not expecting a counter attack. Once regaining her footing she readied her legs before jumping hoping to land on her mentor's back, but the she cat didn't get enough force behind her jump and headed up hitting against her mentor's side.

βοΈ Tigerpaw gasped surprisedly and shifted her amber gaze from rock to rock as she listened to Mallowpool's explanation. It wasn't what she expected to learn today but she was excited to try something new. "Uhh, I think an even surface? Like not round and slippery." The apprentice meowed after she'd pondered on her mentor's question for a moment. The rocks glinstered in the water; they all seemed slippery to Tigerpaw. She wasn't sure how she could ever keep her balance without one of her paws sliding into the water.
π Wolfmist felt Flashpaw bowl into her side. The warrior made sure she quickly regained her balance and took a little distance from the apprentice. "That would've been a great move if you jumped a little higher. But I like your fast thinking." She praised the young she-cat. There was no doubt in her mind Flashpaw would be a great fighter some day.

Mallowpool "Good good! That's a good start." Mallowpool nodded. She leapt easily onto a larger rock that stuck out of the water. Leaning down she pointed towards a slightly smaller rock with her paw "This one looks nice, right? Like you wanna jump on it and move to the one I'm standing on. But take a closer look. If a rock has any sorta growth on it it's probably slippery. I've taken more than one fall on rocks like this." she then pointed to a rock that was under faster water "This rock is under faster water, but the quick current tends to keep algae from growing on it. As long as the water isn't too deep you'll wanna take this rock. Try and cross this part of the river."

Moonclan: FLashpaw got back to her paws shaking out her fur. "I'll get it right next time," she commented, not letting the mistake dwell long. She smiled a bit at the praise from her mentor. She backed away a bit as she thought to herself on what the best course of action would be for an attack based on what moves she had been taught so far.

(Sorry for taking a while >_>)
Sunclan;
Amberpaw's eyes brightened at his mentor's praise, feeling himself grow just a little more confident at the thought. "Really? I always feel so clumsy and like I'm just going to trip over my own paws." He admitted self-consciously, shaking out one paw as though it didn't belong to him. Inwardly, he was glad Pinestripe didn't seem too disappointed in him - it wasn't that he'd necessarily expected her to be or anything, but he had this idea in his head that she might've expected more from the son of two battle-hardened combatants. She must have known them fairly well after all.
Meadowsweet watched Koipaw closely as he made his first attempt. When he came up empty-pawed, she gave him an approving nod. "You were doing really well up until you needed to scoop the fish out of the water." She began, feeling that the reason he'd lost it was more due to a lack of experience rather than a lack of innate talent. Skill could be taught with practice and enough interest. "Since you're smaller than me, you'll need to be a bit closer to the fish than I was. You also aren't used to using your claws yet so that doesn't help either." She meowed, hoping he wouldn't take her critique too harshly. "At the end of the day, it really is all about practice."

βοΈ Tigerpaw smiled at her mentor, glad that she wasnβt giving all the wrong answers. She watched in awe as Mallowpool gracefully leapt onto a rock in the water. After she listened carefully to her mentorβs instructions she went up to the waterbank. The stone that laid under water seemed to be a good one to start with, even though Tigerpaw couldnβt yet fathom how it wasnβt slippery while it laid under the steady stream coming from the river. She hesitated for a short moment, but then took a leap towards the rock. The apprentice landed right where she aimed, though she had a hard time keeping her balance. Replacing her paws on the rock to get into a steady stance she peered at her mentor again. βHow do I get from this rock to the next one without losing balance?β She asked, her gaze hesitantly traveling over to the second rock Mallowpool had pointed at.
π βIβm sure you will.β Wolfmist nodded at her apprentice. She slowly started circling again, wondering what more Flashpaw could think of. Ofcourse it was impossible to use every move she had learned then and there; though it was very interesting to see her apprentice make these moves her own and implement them in a βrealβ fight. βShow me some more.β She meowed with a flick of her tail, keeping her hazel gaze on the apprentice.
βοΈ Pinestripe nodded at the apprentice. βThere is no need to think like that. Youβre more capable than you know.β She assured him with a soft smile. βBut Iβm sure youβll realize that after a while.β The striped warrior glanced around for a moment. When she spotted a small tree with a treetrunk just a little bigger in width then a catβs tail she made her way over to it, gesturing for Amberpaw to follow. βSo you have speed and the accuracy to land a good blow. Now youβll have to get some more force behind it.β Pinestripe meowed. βWatch my paw, I want you to make this move as hard as you can, untill the leaves shake from this little tree.β She heaved her paw and moved - in slowmotion as to not slap the leaves off the tree - towards the trunk, giving an example of the technique. βAnd you have to switch paws in between your blows.β She took a step back to give the apprentice some space. Watching Amberpaw she wondered where his insecurities came from; his parents had seemed quite the opposite. But Amberpaw was young, heβd certainly grow into a strong warrior as well.

Sunclan;
Amberpaw approached the tree, curiously watching Pinestripe's demonstration of the technique she wanted him to practice. Right, force. As hard as I can...until the leaves shake, he repeated in his mind. His gaze sharpened as he tried to imagine the tree as some enemy he needed to vanquish. He positioned himself in front of it as his mentor had. After a brief pause, he surged a paw foreword into the tree, trying to muster up enough strength to cause the leaves to fall. The blow landed harder than before, but only a couple of leaves fluttered down from the branches above. Amberpaw struck again, this time with the opposite paw. He tried to build up momentum so that he was intuitively switching sides and not hesitating after each one. This was better. It took some time for him to get into the swing of it, nonetheless when he did, leaves started falling quicker though still in smaller amounts than he would have liked.

Moonclan: Flashpaw thought for a moment, she was smaller compared to the warrior. She didn't want to risk missing the jump again till she knew she could get the needed force behind it. She flicked her tail, a small idea forming carefully she swept her paws to kick up a bit of dirt at her mentor, using mainly for a distraction purpose before she aimed to do a front paw strike again, keeping her claws in.

Jademist βοΈ βActually, yes. It was in desperate need of a remodeling. βWhat do you think?β The large tom asked Emberstar, shifting his gaze back to the ginger leader.
βοΈ Emberstar was surprised , but not completely surprised ; Rainfern was right - the kit had been stuck up in there for quite some time . Still , weren't medicine cats supposed to be chosen specifically by Starclan for their connection ? Her lashed his tail in thought , furrowing his forehead in thought . It was about time for Rainfern to get an apprentice , that was true , but what if this kit didn't have that connection ?
Emberstar , you furbrain , He muttered internally . Who was he to question his medicine cat ? Well , he supposed as leader it was his job , of course , but ... he brought himself back to reality and sat down , looking to Rainfern . Hadn't this kit been sickly ? What if he got sick again ? Still , he pushed his thoughts aside .
" Well , you haven't exactly steered me wrong yet , " He chuckled , " But I want to make sure you think it's the right decision . Has Starclan sent any signs ? "

βοΈ Pinestripe watched Amberpaw with great interest. He seemed to get better with every single blow. "You're doing great! Now if you focus more on putting your weight on your hindlegs you will have more balance when you strike, that way you can use your paw with more force. Make sure you keep the rest of your body steady on the ground. Like a tree lashing it's branches in the wind." This three wouldn't be lashing high in the wind soon, though it kept steadily to the ground. It was a great way to see how much force an apprentice used to strike because of the leaves that would fall down.
π Wolfmist coughed up some of the dust as it reached her nose. Before she was able to let out a sneeze the apprentice's paw touched her pelt. The warrior took a step back, shaking her white and gray pelt to lose the sand particles that clung to it. "That was a great move. Very creative." She nodded, giving her frontpaw a quick lick and rubbing it a few times over her face. "I think you're ready to learn a new move now." She meowed and sat down, while she kept an eye on Flashpaw. "Alright, I need you to lie down on your back."

βοΈ Rainfern pondered for a moment on his leader's question. He was right to want the approval of Starclan for Sunclan's next medicine cat. "Not as of this last moon. Though, I do remember having dreamt about a piece of log floating on the water a few moons back. I'm not sure whether it was connected to Driftkit, at that moment I didn't think anything of it. Looking back that might've been a sign." Sometimes it was hard to deduce from his dreams what could be a sign and what was nonsense.
"As of lately Starclan has been quite silent. I was hoping to hear from them again at the Crystal." He answered honestly, he didn't want Emberstar to worry but the tom needed to know what was going on - or not going on - with their ancestors. "And I hope they will give their approval of Driftkit as a medicine cat apprentice. I-.."
He cut himself short, shifting on his paws for a moment and glancing past the shape of the leader to see if there were some other cats within hearing distance. Luckily they were all clear to continue their private conversation. "I think we might be needing the extra paws in medicine and communication with Starclan soon. I have a bad feeling about the full moon that was covered by dark clouds last gathering."

Sunclan;
Amberpaw tried to do as he was told, leaning his weight back somewhat, but he was starting to get tired. Stamina was something else they would have to work on. He continued to attack the tree until he stumbled slightly, feeling his crooked tail brush the stone. He paused to rest his paws which were starting to sting. "Sorry. Was I doing it right?" He glanced up and over at his mentor, ready to start again if she felt he could've done better. Bit by bit, the young cat was growing in confidence. He knew it wouldn't come all at once and yet, he was feeling relieved that he was understanding Pinestripe's advice and corrections. Even if it wasn't ever going to be his strength, he was happy he at least understood.

βοΈ Pinestripe noticed the apprentice was getting tired. It was hard work to learn and do a lot of physical stuff at the same time. "You did very well Amberpaw. You may stop now so you can have some rest. Try to practice the technique you've learned today. Next training we'll take it a step further." She was proud at her apprentice for working hard today. Since they were close to the beach it might be nice for Amberpaw to rest his paws in the salty water. She didn't want him to get blisters from the training, though his paws would surely be a little sore tomorrow. "How about we make a small detour to the beach so you can rest your paws in the seawater?" The she-cat suggested, her tail lashing cheerily behind her. She loved the feeling of the soft beachsand under her pads.

Amberpaw nodded happily and got to his paws, feeling as though heat was radiating off them in waves. He took a few steps toward the direction of the beach then waited for Pinestripe to overtake him so he could walk beside her. "Maybe I can catch something whilst we're there." He meowed thoughtfully, eager to showcase something he felt he was a lot better at.

βοΈ Pinestripe chuckled at her apprenticeβs eagerness. βWell, if you still have energy left.β She walked next to Amberpaw and in a few moments they had reached the area where the grass bordered on sandy land. Her paws sank in the soft pale sand as she lead them close to where the water rolled over the beach. Some small pools of seawater had formed along the sand banks, it was a great place to cool off without being dragged into the water by strong waves and sometimes small crab-like creatures could even be spotted crawling along. Pinestripe lowered to her haunches and reached out her frontpaws to dip them in the salty water of one of the small pools. βThis feels great after a long morning of standing and walking. It might even have been one of your parents who taught me the secret of relaxing at the beach.β She smiled at Amberpaw as memories from the past washed over her.

Sunclan;
Amberpaw followed suit, crouching next to a small pool, his forepaws submerged. He sighed happily as the cool water took some of the fiery heat out of his pads. There were a number of small, pretty stones and seashells no doubt left there by the surging waves, and he found himself studying them with interest, watching the sunlight glint off their shiny surfaces. When Pinestripe mentioned his parents, he felt his tail-tip twitch involuntarily. There was a heartbeat of silence as words dried on his tongue then he meowed, "Oh, you must have known them pretty well, huh?" He smiled and looked down at himself reflected in the shallow water, wondering if they'd be proud that he was trying his best.

sorry for the late response was at my physical therapy and then my dad's car had to get an oil change) Moonclan: Flashpaw gave a small smile. "Alright!" The she cat bouncing on her paws, her black tail flicking with excitement. Following her mentor's orders she laid on her back as requested. It's the belly rake right? The she cat hoping she was recalling what her mentor said while they were walking. I'll have to wait and see. She concluded to herself not wanting to bother her mentor with a question that would soon be answered if she just waited.

Koipaw Listening intently, Koipaw nodded slowly as the other spoke. What she said made sense. He'd been so focused on copying her he hadn't even thought that he'd need to compensate for the different size. When trying again, he actually managed to smack the fish out of the water, but not quiet enough as it ended up splashing back in. He seemed happy though that he even managed to get it.
Mallowpool "Balance is something you can train, but focus on your tail. It'll get better the more you practice." she leapt from rock to rock and landed lightly on the other side, turning to watch her apprentice and how she took up the new challenge. Mallowpooll had specifically chosen a rock pool that was shallow, just in case the apprentice did fall there wouldn't be a risk of drowning or anything along those lines.

Sunclan;
"Hey, that was even better!" Meadowsweet meowed encouragingly. She hadn't been the best at fishing either when she had been an apprentice, instead finding land-based prey to be her forte. Thinking about her own apprenticeship for a moment, she was determined to show Koipaw that his kittypet blood didn't have to hold him back just as she hadn't let it affect her all those moons ago. "How about we try a couple more times then call it a day?" She suggested.

βοΈ Pinestripe nodded at Amberpawβs comment. βYour mother was my mentor, I learned a lot from her.β The she-cat smiled as she thought back to her time as an apprentice. Sheβd thoroughly enjoyed the training sessions with Amberpawβs mother; she seemed to be a natural teacher. Pinestripeβs paw swished slowly through the water as the she-cat seemed to be lost in thoughts for a moment. βYour parents were some great cats.β She smiled as she glanced over at the apprentice. βI bet you miss them a lot.β
π Wolfmist patiently waited for a few heartbeats as her apprentice laid in the clearing. βSo what do you feel when youβre on your back?β She asked the apprentice, her tailtip twitching lightly. It was peaceful around them, with no predators in sight. However, Wolfmist made sure she was aware of their surroundings. She wouldnβt want anyone or anything attacking Flashpaw while she laid in this vulnerable position. It was an important part of the training, to understand why your belly should never be exposed and why the belly rake was effective.
βοΈ Tigerpaw nodded determinedly. Her amber gaze followed Mallowpool as she leapt further away from her. It stressed her a little, sheβd rather keep her mentor nearby. If felt saver when Mallowpool was closer. She tried to focus on the position of her tail to balance out her movements as she leapt to the next stone. Her hindpaw almost slipped but her mentorβs advice had worked and she was able to steady herself with tailmovements. The next stone seemed to lay a little further away from her and uncertainty flashed in her eyes. Tigerpaw would not give up though, pushing herself to take another leap. Landing on the stone with her frontpaws her backlegs landed in the water with a splash. She discovered that her nails were useless on the sleek stone and she slid into the water, splashing her paws around before she managed to get a grip on another stone.

(Real quick came up with names for Amberpaw's parents since now seems like a good time: Goldenspots, his mother, and Eagletalon, his father.)
Sunclan;
Amberpaw gave a short nod. Truthfully, he had forgotten that his mother had mentored Pinestripe. In that sense, it felt very fitting that she was now mentoring him in turn. The death of Goldenspots and Eagletalon still felt rather raw for the apprentice even though about a moon and a half had already passed since their vigil. The two senior warriors had been especially amazing at fighting in a pair or so he had been told. At the time, he had felt bitter that he would never get to fight or hunt by their side - there was so much he could have learned from them, but there was also no use dwelling on the past. "I do." He murmured quietly. "I wish they could've seen me at my apprentice ceremony..." He lapsed into silence, his amber eyes clouding with emotion.

Moonclan: Flashpaw thought for a moment, taking in everything. "The dirt and rocks," she said tilting her head so she could look to her mentor wondering if that is what she was looking for. "Also the wind?" The young she cat flicked her ear, though she longed for more exciting things, she had to admit the peaceful energy that was happening today was a nice feeling. With what happened at the gathering and her clanmates being on edge it seems, maybe this nice weather meant things would be alright.
