If the earth had a pulse it rose through the mountains, creating their bold silhouette. I saw those rocks at dawn, those slopes that give home to so much life, a foundation for trees and shrubs, grass and ferns. With blue above and below, in the sky and lake, ever lightening as the sun rose. The mountains were covered with a rug of trees, green, yellow, scarlet and orange, but their bare tops were scarfed and beribboned with snow. From carved rocky outcrops, waterfalls drifted like skeins of white lawn, and in the fields we could see the amber glint of rivers and the occasional mirror-like flash of a mountain lake...
Ounceclan makes their home upon the ridge of the mountains. Towering high into the clouds, mist drapes over the land for most of the day, over clearing up after sunhigh. The ground is rocky and rough, with patches of green grass coming up along the way as though they were random splatters of paint. A well worn path moved along the ridge, spiralling down into a valley to the east, the west side of the mountain falling into an endless, lifeless desert. The valley makes up most of the territory, a large, beautiful lake on the furthest side that supplies all of the water to the other territories. The northern side of the valley is covered by a forest of pines while a cliff face spirals up to the south, a pathway carved into it that leads to the camp.
The land is covered in wildflowers of all kinds that have adapted to the cold weather and high altitudes. Snow covers some parts of the land the whole year through and gets deep enough to bury a full grown wolf during the cold season.
Landmarks:
The Leopard's Effigy:
At the highest point of The Ridgeway is a huge, towering boulder. When the light hits it just right the image of a snow leopard comes into view. The stone is sacred to the clan and all apprentices must climb to the top of this boulder and stand vigil through the night before they can become a warrior or healer.
The Winter Woods:
The pine forest on the north side of the valley is almost always blanketed in snow, the shade beneath causing a near constant cold to the area and gifting it with its name. Evergreens can be found throughout the forest as well as wild berry bushes and many different kinds of plants with edible roots.
The Ridgeway:
The mountain path was a sickly yellow, almost browning, between the vivid green on either side. It was a ribbon on which to walk in single file up the ridge, a frozen wind beating in from the left. The path carried on from one side of the valley to the other before moving down and around the entire valley itself, marking a natural border for the clan that was also easy to patrol.
Icecap Lake:
Looking through the waters of the lake was like peering through perfect glass, unsmudged by the sticky prints of small children. The stones at the bottom were as many hues of brown and grey as there are on a painter's wheel, likely more. After a few minutes of looking one could notice some that were some more reddish or closer to white. The water at one point had a current, it was where the glacial melt of the mountains themselves flowed away to fill the rivers of the other territories. The earthen path stretched wide to your left and right making a complete loop around the edge just behind the evergreen trees that grew directly on the bank.
Camp:
The camp is situated to the south side of the valley among the sheer, rocky cliff face. A path is carved into the stone to lead up to a single pine that holds onto the wall face. An opening can be found at it’s side that leads down into a large, open cavern that is lit up with tons of bio-luminescent moss and glow worms that hang along the walls and ceiling of the cavern.
The dens of the clan are not really dens per say, but are merely areas of the cave that have been marked off with stones and branches, making a small wall of sorts that can be easily stepped over by all but the smaller kits of the clan.
Starting at the entrance the dens loop around at the wall, with the warriors den to the left of the entrance and the apprentices den to the right.
The nursery area is further down the left side where it begins to curve, followed by the den of the deputy, commander, and lead hunter a little farther down.
The elders den sits further down the wall from the apprentices den and the medicine cat den follows further beyond that, a set of wooden planks put together with vines to make a shelf for storing herbs.
The leader's den sits opposite the entrance and a large stalagmite rises out the ground with a flat top; this is where the leader calls clan meetings.
Prey is placed within a marked area between the warrior’s den and the nursery while a small pool of water can be found to the right of the entrance that is created by water dripping into the cave via the roots of the pine that marks the entrance itself. Forum Rules || The forum rules are my rules. If you are going to be in this clan then I expect you to know and follow not only the rules of this clan but the rules of the forum as well. I worked so hard on this clan and I really don't want it to be deleted.
Joining || Upon joining I ask you have at least one she-cat and one tom each so that we can try to keep and even ratio of the primary genders (if your character is non-binary or something then please specify what they were born as).
Characteristics || This clan has so much diversity but that does not mean you can have rainbow fur and purple wings or three eyes and an extra tail or anything. I expect realism though I will allow an odd trait here and there as it is not uncommon to see an odd trait on a normal cat. I only ask that you try to be realistic when it comes to these and not overdo it.
Literacy || It is very VERY hard to reply to a single sentence and so I ask, no, I BEG, that you have at least three sentences so that those you are rping with have something a bit more substantial to reply to.
Activity || If you are in a normal position then I ask for you to be on at least three times a week while those with higher positions or who are relevant to the plot be on at least 5 times. If you know you are gonna be gone for a length of time then you merely need to tell us so that we do not delete you. For those who think you can join and not be active, if you do not reply for a two week period then you will be deleted.
Relationships || Deep relationship are a necessity for a fantastic roleplay but can sometimes be hard to put together for new rps. I ask that if you make a character who resembles an already existing character, ask if they can be related. Siblings, cousins, uncle, nephew or niece, anything. Just try to actual put together these relationships. One more thing, you cannot have your own characters be crushes or mates!
Spam || I know that sometimes it can be hard to start things up, trust me. If you wish to advertise something then just ask me first. If there's nothing really big going on in rp then I'll probably say yes, but just ask.
OOC || When talking out of character please use [], {}, or () to signify that it is not part of the roleplay so that there is no confusion.
Plots || Plots are one of the biggest parts of a story, and this clan is a story. It's a story that we are all writing together and so if you have any plot ideas simply say you do and I will talk to you about it privately so that we can decide if we wish to use it or not.

-Prey- Includes small mammals(such as mice and squirrels), fish, reptiles and amphibians(such as lizards and frogs), numerous bird species, and even larger prey such as deer, hawks, and mountain goats which all take multiple warriors to bring down.
-Predators- Includes cougars, Canada lynx, bobcats, black bears, grizzly bears, gray wolves, coyotes, foxes, and wolverines. -Seasons- Leaf-bare [] New-leaf [] Green-leaf [x] Leaf-fall []
-Positions- Leader: The Leader of the clan is the one who is chosen to uphold the traditions and way of life in Ounceclan. They lead it into the ages and into the future, always ready to give their life to make sure the clan leads on.
Deputy: The Deputy of the clan is the future leader. They are the apprentice of the Leader and are trained to know the history and even the future of the clan so that they may one day take the helm and help the clan to survive.
Lead Hunter: The Lead Hunter is the best hunter within the clan. Every spring a competition is held to find the lead hunter, though it is not uncommon for the same cat to win the competition several times over. They are in charge of arranging and sending out hunting patrols.
Commander: The Commander is the battle strategist of the clan and is in charge of protecting and securing the borders of the territory. They are to protect the camp, the clan, and all that resides within the borders of our land.
Healers: Healers spend many seasons being trained and disciplined, sometimes even years will pass before the official name of a healer is bestowed upon an apprentice who chooses to pursue this path.
Warriors: These cats are the hunters and protectors of the clan, led by the Lead Hunter and the Commander, who are led by the Leader. They are to give their life for the clan and a she-cat can only become a queen if she has been a warrior for at least two seasons.
Apprentices: Apprentices are in training to become either warriors or healers, and both of these kinds of appendices sleep in the same den until they gain their true names. Apprentices must attend a storytelling session by the elders once every moon to learn the history of the clan or else they are not allowed to gain their true name.
Queens and Kits: Once a she-cat has been a warrior for at least two seasons and has performed the Flower of Love tradition they are then allowed to bear kits to continue on the life of the clan. The kits of the clans are the future and so are protected by every being of the clan. They are not allowed to leave the camp and must be watched at all times so that they can survive and grow.
Elders: Elders of the clan are greatly respected by all as these lands are unforgiving and cruel, dangers lurking at every turn or whisper of air. It is uncommon for one to live to 80 moons, and this age is also how old one must be to become an elder. They may stay a warrior for longer if they wish but upon reaching this age they are also permitted to transfer to the elders den and become the history keepers and storytellers of the clan. -Physical- The cats of Ounceclan are known to have thick, medium to long fur to help combat the near constant presence of snow in their territory. Not only this but the thickness helps keep away to strong winds and keep them warm. These cats are known to be in lighter shades with dark markings that help them blend in with their territory beautifully. Most of the cats of the clan sport blue, green, or grey eyes, much like a snow leopard.
-Social- Unlike the other clans, this clan is known for sending out cats to hunt alone, with most hunting patrols only ever having one or two cats and rarely ever three. They are solitary, rarely seen except for one full moons when they attend the gathering of the four clans. These cats are known to speak highly of themselves and their territory, but are also very humble and polite to the other clans while being fierce and ruthless to outsiders. The Vigil: On the night before an apprentice is to made a warrior or healer they must travel with their mentor to the Leopard's Effigy. They will then climb the rock and sit vigil atop it for the entire night. The entire clan will then travel to the stone together the next morning where the apprentice will stay atop the stone to be given their true name before jumping down among their clanmates as a full member of Ounceclan. The newly named warrior is then given the decision to hunt alone or with one other and to eat whatever they catch with no repercussions.
The Ice Dance: Ounceclan, like the other clans, has a special way of courting ones love, and in this clan it has to do with Icecap Lake. The one who is courting will lead their desired to the lake and stand face to face with them at its edge before revealing their feelings. If the other accepts then they will step onto the ice and the two will perform what the clan calls The Ice Dance. Upon completion they will go to a small cave hidden inside the Winter Woods where they will spend the night together.

Tail pointing low, parallel to ground, and sweeping- Spread out
Tail flattened- Get down
Tail bobbing- Enemy sighted
Tail hooked- Danger
Tail Pointed sharply- Go that way
Tail held erect and waving side to side- Stay behind me
Tail kinked over back- Follow me Back Kick- Explosive surprise move to catch opponent from behind. Judge opponent’s distance from you carefully; then lash out with your back legs, taking your weight on your front paws
Belly Rake- A fight-stopper. Slice with unsheathed claws across soft flesh of opponent’s belly. If you’re pinned down, the belly rake quickly puts you back in control
Paw Strike- Frontal attack. Bring your front paw down hard on your opponent’s head. Claws sheathed
Killing Bite- A death blow to the back of the neck. Quick and silent
Leap-And-Hold- Ideal for a small cat facing a large opponent. Spring onto opponent’s back and grip with unsheathed claws. Now you are beyond the range of your opponent’s paws and in position to inflict severe body wounds. A group of apprentices can defeat a large and dangerous warrior in this way. Watch for the drop-and-roll counter move, and try to jump free before you get squashed
Partner Fighting- Warriors who have trained and fought together will often instinctively fall into a paired defensive position, each protecting the other’s back while fending off an opponent on either side. Slashing, clawing, and leaping together, battle pairs can be a whirlwind of danger for attackers
Play Dead- Effective in a tight situation, such as when you are pinned. Stop struggling and go limp. When your opponent relaxes his grip, thinking you are defeated push yourself up explosively. This will throw off an unwary opponent and put you in an attacking position
Scruff Shake- Secure a strong teeth grip in the scruff of your opponent’s neck; then shake violently until he or she is too rattled to fight back. Most effective against rats, which are small enough to throw will stun or kill them
Teeth Grip- Target you opponent’s extremities-the legs, tail, scruff or ears-and sink in your teeth and hold. This move is similar to the leap-and-hold except your claws remain free to fight
Upright Lock- Final, crushing move on already weakened opponent. Rear up on back legs and bring full weight down on opponent. If opponent does same, wrestle and flip him under you. This move makes you vulnerable to the belly rake, so requires great strength and speed
Deadly Tree Jump- A very dangerous move for both cats involved. You climb up high into a tree and aim carefully at an unsuspecting opponent. When you feel it’s correct you launch yourself out of the tree with as much strength as you can onto your opponent. If done properly the opponent will have broken his/her neck or been severely winded giving you enough time to kill them. However if you don’t do it right you will more likely break your neck when you make contact with the ground
Shoulder Pound- A move that can wind your opponent or even brake their shoulders, either way you have to get in close enough first. When you do manage to get close enough you take your front paws and slam each paw on a shoulder shifting as much of your own weight as you can into your paws for maximum damage.
Tree Battling- A special style of battling in the tree tops. The cats that do this usually have exceptional balance and intelligence. If you are not properly trained it is not recommended
Water Battling- A special style of battling in and under water. The cats that do this are usually good at holding their breath and have strong paws and legs. If you are not properly trained is it not recommended
Double Neck Claw- A killing move. You get on your opponent’s back and place a paw on either side of his/her neck. Then you slide your claws into their neck until he/she dies. This move can be applied to cats, foxes, badgers, and any animal bigger then a cat.
Front Paw Blow- Bring down paw hard on opponents head. Claws sheathed.
Front Paw Strike- Slice downward with your front paw on the face or body of opponent.
Grip- Target your opponent's extremities and grab and hold on with teeth.
Upright Lock- Put full weight down on opponent.
Half Turn Belly Rake- Slip under opponents belly and rake with claws.
Badger Defense- Bite opponents leg.
Duck and Twist- Duck and twist around then slash with front paws Warrior Code:
