Elkface narrowed his eyes.” That’s sad….I guess I can kind of relate to feeling abandoned.” He meowed. He wasn’t fond of remembering the past, but life as a rogue was a huge part of his history.

"Fawnskip loved the clan immediately and became friends alot of the warriors among others. I on the other hand resented them all because I was a grumpy and untrusting kit." Doewatcher said. Then she nodded to Elkface's words. "I don't really know anout your past but if you aren't comfortable talking about it I understand." She said sitting down and cringing at the creak her joints made.

(Awww a friendship is blossoming hehe)
Elkface sighed and turned to meet her gaze for once, his pale yellow eyes a bit unsettled. "I was born and raised a rogue like my parents. I have no siblings....so being left to fend for myself in a clan was never easy. I had to grow up here thinking no one cared....I still think that because no one understands the life I've had. I don't exactly feel welcome here..." He mumbled further, beginning to trail off.

"Let me tell you. This clan is much more welcoming of rougue-born cats than it was when I grew up. I think most of the reason we were allowed to stay is that we were still kits. By the time we became apprentices Fawnskip had softened their hearts but there was mistrust there still." Doewatcher noted that Elkface made eye contact with her. She smiled trying to let him know he was safe with her.

Elkface grunted in response. He wasn't quite sure what to say to that. Doewatcher definitely surprised him amongst others. "I get it...I don't know. I just have to see it for myself still." He replied.

Doewatcher nodded her fawn colored head. "I understand. Just know you've got me on your side." She brought a paw up to lick it and swiped it across her face.

Elkface’s ear flattened. He couldn’t suppress the slight grin that formed on his maw. “Thanks, Doewatcher.” He meowed softly. His tense muscles relaxed a bit as he began to feel more at ease in her presence.

Newtwing smiled as she got back to her paws. "You are really mastering this," she said to Willowpaw. She was happy how fast Willowpaw picked up on things. She l99ked over to Swanpaw. "Do you want to give it a try?"

Doewatcher sighed. "Of course. If I weren't so stiff I'd say we could go for a walk and I could show you some of my favorite places in the territory but its a miracle today that I'm up at all." She flicked her tail and sighed again.

Elkface analyzed her carefully. “What if I helped you?” He asked, wondering his suggestion would be something she could muster.

Elkface analyzed her carefully. “What if I helped you?” He asked, wondering his suggestion would be something she could muster. "I might be able to make it out of camp if we let this herb kick in." Doewatcher said. She wasn't all that eager to try anything yet with her joints being as painful as they were. "There's a little pond a bit off from camp I used to like to fish in. If I can make it that far."

Elkface gave a nod. “Alright, then we will wait. Just let me know when you’re ready. You can lean on me for support.” He meowed. His paws prickled with anticipation.

Doewatcher sat for a little while in silence then she got to her feet. "Okay I think I'm ready. I just might need to take some breaks." She said slowly making her way to the camp entrance.

Elkface swiftly padded after her. He offered her his shoulder to lean on for support. "Here, you may not be able to make it too far without it." He meowed sternly.

Doewatcher shook her head. "I'll tell you if I need help. We'll just take our time to get there." She said stubbornly as she walked ahead of him. She took a sharp turn and headed west toward the pond.

Rolling his eyes, Elkface followed after, ensuring to keep a quick pace. The old she-cat was faster than she looked. At least she wasn't kidding about not needing help.

Doewatcher settled into a steady pace though her joints complained. Soon they made it to the small pond she was talking about. The wind made ripples on the water's surface and fish occasionally jumped to grab bugs from the air. She settled at the edge and took a deep breath of the crisp air. "I may not have been retired long but laying around camp all the time has definitely done me no good. I'm getting old, Elkface."

Elkface took a seat at the water’s edge. He fixed his gaze down upon his reflection that stuttered within the ripples. His ear twitched at her comment as he dipped his paw in to feel the coolness. “The fact that you were able to make it over there is impressive.” He meowed.

"Its not like I'm as old as Mackenzie and Frost. They are nearly twice my age if not older. Fawnskip and I retired to the elder's den not that many moons ago." Doewatcher said grumpily. She stared into the water at the shadow of a fish and stuck out lifting it to the bank where she leaned down to bite it.

Elkface smirked a bit. He felt happy he could get under someone else's skin for once. It seemed as if everyone was always trying to get under his. "Well, you're on your way there." He snorted with half a chuckle, his eyes glinting with a challenge.

"Oh whatever. And you're on your way to my age." Doewatcher said. She watched the water intently but no fish swam near her.

Elkface chuckled. “And I still have many moons to go.” He wanted to ready himself to catch the fish as it seemed very tempting. It tainted them a little while longer, just begging to be swiped up onto the shore.

Doewatcher chuckled and went to swiped up another fish but it swam away when the shadow of her paw came over the water. She stood and moved around the pond some so the sun was in front of her again. "The fish are much smarter it seems that when I last fished. Or I am slower." She said pulling a smaller fish to the shore.

Deciding to change the topic, Elkface swiped at the fish as well, attempting to catch one. “So, did you end up raising yourself in the clan? How did it work with your kin?” He asked.

Fawnskip sighed. "I could just about live out here. Not that I want to lesve the clan or anything." She rolled back and forth scratching her back with the grass beneath her. "This is worth the walk." She commented. Willowpaw stumbled on Newtwing's back but jumped off before she could complete her roll. "You almost had me." She said to her mentor. Then she dodged in trying to hit her mentor in the stomach with her paw while she was rolling. nimble my last reply with Fawnskip)

Missed this sorry.) "We were nearly apprentices when we were given to the clan so they just gave us a nest and left us to our own devices to play with the other kits until we became apprentices. Then we had our mentors to help raise us. I steered clear of most cats while Fawnskip made friends with every cat imaginable" Doewatcher absentmindedly flicked her tail and sighed. "I started to trust the clan a little more with time spent with them but I didn't make very many friends until now really. I've been a sourpuss my entire life." She laughed at her comment and brought another fish to the bank.

MacKenzie nodded in agreement. "It certainly is quite beautiful. I wish I would have explored the territory more when I was younger." He licked his chest fur a couple times before settling his gaze on Fawnskip. He "so... I've been thinking about how Swanpaw spent some time with us today. It was really nice to see her."
