As the group of cats nodded in agreement, the black she-cat moved forward, nodding politely toward Mazie. The queen was weary, but hopefully she would allow them to carry her kittens. Glancing around, the apprentice searched the endless trees for any shelter. The trunks helped break up some of the wind, but they could only do so much. Her breath was beginning to billow into tiny clouds, and the thought that snow could press them sooner rather than later made her pelt crawl. "Okay, I think that's a good idea," she mewed to Elkheart, swishing her tail. "I think we'll have luck this way," she began, nodding toward the east. "I haven't found much shelter where I've been." When all the felines had silently agreed, the little molly stepped forward and dipped her head, murmuring softly as she scooped up a tiny white and brown dappled she-kit, her mouth open in a tiny mewl. Feeling a pang in her chest, she waited for each cat to scoop up a kitten before falling in step behind Elkheart. The tom made her feel oddly comforted, though she felt he would be the best to lead them to shelter as he knew this territory just as well as she did. Besides, I'm just an apprentice. I don't want to step on any toes, she thought.
{ I was thinking, are the kits already named? Or can Ravenpaw suggest Morningkit the next dawn? I think it'd be cute. }

When Elkheart raised to his paws his ears picked up the sound of a cat approaching them. To his surprise Stormclaw rejoined the group. The cream colored tom simply gave the other tom a nod in welcome. There was no time to question why he left, or more importantly why he returned. They would be able to discuss everything when they are huddled up in a warm and safe space. “Stormclaw, you can pick up a kit too.” He meowed as he picked up a tiny white bundle, gently carrying the kitten by the scruff. His paws took him in the direction Ravenpaw had pointed to. He trusted her memory of the territory. His den had been nearby but it wasn’t quite large enough for the group of cats that had formed here. They would need a place where they could benefit from eachother’s warmth. Elkheart craned his neck to watch over his shoulder, wachting over the other cats and making sure that Mazie was okay with everything that was happening. He was sure it would go against all her instincts to hand her kits over to some strangers she just met.

The silver tabby nodded at Calys' question, his whole body shivering as another cold wind blew over them. His breath was forming clouds around his snout as the sun sank ever lower in the sky. He took a quick bite of the squirrel, enjoying the taste. He'd always loved the quick-footed prey, though he'd never managed to catch one himself. A yawn stretched his jaws and he was relieved when Puma returned to them. "Yeah, I'm finished," Creekpaw agreed through chattering teeth, standing up from his completed meal. Shelter sounded perfect right about now. A place to curl up and get warm. Maybe the she-cats wouldn't mind to share their body heat with him. It would be just like sleeping in the apprentice's den again. A pang of longing hit his chest so harshly that he nearly cried out from the force of it. He missed being in a clan more than anything.»»---------------------►
Mazie had to force herself not to bristle as the others converged around her. They were getting near her kittens! She let out a low warning growl when Ravenpaw and Elkheart approached. If they thought to run off with her babies she would hunt them down and tear their pelts off. Her claws slid out of her paws, anxiety filling her chest until she could barely breathe. She wanted to trust these kind strangers but it was too soon and her kittens were too young, too vulnerable. When she saw both of her kittens grasped in the maw of the others, a hiss escaped her, a clear warning for everyone. If any harm came to her little ones, she would not be a forgiving, kind mother. Kitty-pet or not those were her lives to protect and nurture and Mazie would do everything to keep them safe. Grasping two of her little ones, unwilling to let Stormclaw, who she knew next to nothing about, carry her offspring, she at least had Pebbles to carry her white and cream patched tom. Even if she hadn't seen him in a while, hopefully their friendship still meant something to the tom. Without a word, aside from more protective glares, she walked closely beside Ravenpaw and Elkheart, watching them like a hawk would a lone mouse.

(Robin, when Puma meets the other cats, should someone recognize her? Was she a clancat?
Also, would Caylis know any of the other kittypets?🤔)
After a few more quick bites Caylis nodded to Puma. “Me too.” She hoped Puma would know the way to some kind of warm den. The young she-cat rose to her paws, ready to follow Puma wherever she’d go. Poor Creekpaw, he seemed to be quite cold. They would have to be fast as she felt the cold wind getting through her long fur as well. Hopefully she could offer some warmth to her new friends when they settled down somewhere. A good sleep would be great too. Her muscles started to ache a little from the walking, hunting and wandering around. Tomorrow would be a new day. The upcoming sunrise she wouldn’t start her day alone and she couldn’t wait to learn hunting again with the two cats. Excitement waved over her, making the eager she-cat forget about her sleepiness.

(No, Puma was always a loner, but will join the clan because Creekpaw and Caylis are going to. She's like a protective aunt lol)
Puma nodded to the two before turning back in the direction that the waterfall was in. At least, where she thought the waterfall would be. And from there, Puma knew she would be able to find that log. The dusky she-cat set a fast pace for the trio; the faster they reached shelter, the better. Her ears swiveled atop her head as they walked through the forest, unwilling to have any creature sneak up on them whether it be friend or foe. As the sun sunk lower in the sky, she broke into a run. She could hear the waterfall in the distance now, but just below the sound of water was the sound of other animals. Slowing down a bit, she waved her tail as a signal for Creek and Caylis to stay put while she looked up ahead. Crouching and creeping forward, she peered through the brambles to find a small group of cats. Fur bristling, she gave a low growl to allow the group to know she was there before standing and stepping up behind the cats as they began to move away.

Ravenpaw had to force her fur flat and ears up as Mazie hissed at her, clearly getting defensive. She didn't need to be so hostile, these cats had proved they were meant to meet her, especially since Mazie had seen her own mother, Shadowspirit. Icy blue eyes narrowing at the effort, she trudged forward with Elkheart, the little kitten's mews dying down as she was being held. Ravenpaw was well aware of how chilly the temperature had gotten, and she didn't want the little thing to freeze to death. "Let's go," she managed to mumble around the bundle of fur, nose twitching as she followed the group into the darkening forest. They'd travelled for a bit, the sky darkening above them until they were approaching a waterfall, the gentle droplets splashing into a small pool. Nearby, a large fallen oak splayed near some thick ferns, seeming like a decent camp for a few days. Ravenpaw gestured with her tail and ran ahead, skidding to a halt once Puma made herself aware and slithered into the open. The tiny kitten let out a cry as Ravenpaw set her down and swept her tail over her, fur bristling as she let out a menacing growl. She'd show Mazie that she could trust her! "We have no quarrel with you," she began, her sweet voice turning deep with warning. "Let us be on our way." She was just repeating the words she'd heard her parents say a thousand times when they came across rogues and loners. As the others in her group made themselves known, the little black she-cat hoped that the kittens would make them seem fiercer, rather than weaker. Queens were some of the most ferocious cats in the forest.

Stormclaw regarded the cats with an awkward of friendliness. They could hardly be called acquaintances, but they acknowledged his presence as they began to move away from where they were situated, obviously intending to journey toward somewhere already predetermined. He began to lean down to pick up a kit as the others were doing, until Mazie got in front of him and let out a warning hiss. He backed away quickly, the anger in her expression slightly taking him aback. It was completely understandable though, and he backed off without a word, his tail drooping and his fur laying flat to let her know he meant no harm. Following the young black she-cat and the cream-colored tom, they journeyed until they arrived at the waterfall. Obviously this was where they meant to stay for the night. He became lost in his thoughts as they looked around, wondering how he would tell these cats of his dreams that foretold them becoming a Clan and beating a powerful, dominant group of cats that not many challenged. Looking at the cats that surrounded him, it was hard to believe that they were meant to become a Clan. They seemed more like a ragtag group of cats that didn't have much in common other than horrible lives. Lives ruined by the Horde. Heat pulsed beneath his pelt as his eyes narrowed at an unseen enemy. He flexed his claws, anger filling him as he thought of the cats that had taken his parents from him. Someway, somehow, these cats would face this enemy, and win. He intended to stick with them even if they didn't trust him. Whether he liked it or not, and he didn't like it, these cats were meant to be part of a group that would stick with each other the rest of their lives. Eventually, he realized as he sighed, he would have to open up to them and become their friend. Wondering how and when he would do that, his thoughts were interrupted as the apprentice challenged an opponent that had recently made itself known. His eyes widened as he recognized the brown she-cat from earlier. Was she actually a part of the Horde, pretending not to be earlier by training those cats? These thoughts disappeared as he realized she had no mark on her that showed she had gained entry into the Horde, and the cats that she was training earlier were crouched in bushes behind her. Regarding them with watchful eyes, he made no note that he had seen them earlier to the others, and instead waited for what would unfold.

Mazie felt her worry grow as they traveled on, her paw-steps heavy in the dry grass beneath her, cream and brown pelt fluffed up. A sour feeling rested in her stomach, twisting into knots at every little tiny puff her kittens gave. Her light green eyes swept the forest as the roar of the falls grew ever louder in her ears, trying to spot any sort of shelter that would conceal their group from the cold. They needed warmth now, and rest. Not just for her young, but for the others too. The rustle and snap of the undergrowth alerted her to the presence of another creature, moments before another feline slunk from the bushes. Her hackles lifted but even she had to admire that Ravenpaw had placed her kit safely out of harms way. That would have taken the weight off her shoulders if there wasn't a stranger standing way too close for comfort. The black molly summed up her thoughts on the situation beautifully, so the queen didn't add any threats or words, merely narrowed her gaze. She prayed this wouldn't come to a fight because her little ones would be exposed and it was honestly too cold for this nonsense.
»»---------------------►
The young tom obediently huddled in the bushes with Caylis, used to taking orders from his mentor. He crouched down low trying to keep himself from trembling as the frigid air tried to creep it's way through his fur and wrap around his limbs. His silver and white coat was covered in leaves and dirt from all his running around today and yesterday, it had been a while since he'd had the chance to groom himself. Creekpaw figured he barely looked recognizable like this, appearing more like some strange plant creature than a feline. He huffed out a quiet laugh at the thought. The kittypet beside him was definitely in much better shape. The scent of milk reached him, followed by a lingering scent that tickled his nose. There was something so familiar about that scent, almost hauntingly so. A deep need to discover where the strange smell was coming from had him inching forward in the underbrush.
His gaze landed on Puma's back first, then a black feline with a kit between her paws. Strange, she looked a little young to be a mother... Creekpaw pressed further a bit more before freezing, his eyes glued to a large cream form with a kit wriggling from his jaws. "I-It can't be.." his voice almost broke, shuddering as he tried to comprehend what he was seeing. Foggy images of a cream colored tom grinning at him, scolding him, rolling his eyes, ruffling his head fur... Pain. The little tom's chest imploded with a grief so strong it brought a cry from his jaws, his whole body trembling like a leaf in the wind, this time not from the cold. Elkheart, his mentor, the closest thing to a father, to family he'd ever had. The silver tabby thought he was long dead, had grieved for moons, barely able to keep himself moving. Yet, here the tom stood. Or did he...? It had to be him... right? Creekpaw threw himself forward, rushing past Puma and launching his shaking body at Elkheart, his blue eyes misted over with profound pain. His head connected with the larger tom's chest solidly and he inhaled deeply, the scent so different yet familiar on a deeper level. A sob rose in his chest and he worked hard to push it down. "I thought you were dead," his words were a mere whisper, broken and jagged.

Caylis crouched down next to Creekpaw, her yellow gaze following Puma’s movements. There were several cats walking in a group down the way. She shuffled nervously on her paws. They wouldn’t stand a chance if it came to a fight. She barely knew any battle moves. Though, she knew Puma would fight tooth and nail to protect them. The three of them had formed a warm bond in the short time they knew eachother. She admired Puma for her bravery; warning the group of cats with a growl. The smokey she-cat recognized one of the toms, his pelt was awfully similar to the cat they had encountered before. At that time he seemed to mean no harm. When she turned to look at Creekpaw she noticed he had an intense focus on the group. Before she could ask anything he started crouching away and bursted out in the open. “Creekpaw wait!” She called after him but he had already ran off. The young she-cat was left puzzled as she watched the scene unfold. Slowly she crouched over to Puma, finding comfort in being close to the she-cat. She was unsure what would happen at this point. The other cats looked just as surprised as she did.
————————
Elkheart could understand Mazie’s defensive reaction as they picked up the kits. It might not have been the most sensible thing to suggest Stormclaw would carry one but it certainly was the best way logistically. He never meant to step on Mazie’s toes.
The large tom stopped in his tracks as Puma’s growl reached his ears. Gently he placed the little kit, that was dangling from his jaws moments before, on the ground. He stepped protectively over the small bundle that squirmed behind his large cream colored paw. There was no way he’d let anyone harm Mazie’s kits, especially after she had trusted the group to carry them to safety. He waited silently, listening to Ravenpaw’s words. His tail twitched in anticipation as they awaited Puma's reaction.
Tension lingered thick in the air between the cats when it was suddenly interrupted by a smaller tom that charged from the bushes. His shape seemed so familiar.. Before Elkheart knew it, Creekpaw had nestled his face in his chestfur. The scent of his apprentice triggered so many memories, their training days, playing around, fighting side by side.. Memories he had pushed away because it hurt too much to think about what he’d lost. A relieved sigh escaped his mouth and he rested his face softly on Creekpaw’s head, closing his eyes for a moment. It felt like he could finally breathe again. Moons and moons he had beat himself up, he had failed Creekpaw by not being able to protect him. Not only as a mentor, but as a father figure, as a friend. The guilt he felt had weighed on his shoulders like a heavy stone. Ever since Creekpaw’s parents had passed away Elkheart had made sure the young tom was looked after and he treated him like a son of his own. Here he was, alive and well.
A mix of emotions swept over the creamy tom. Guilt, relief but most of all pride. The young tom had survived so long alone. “I am so incredibly sorry Creekpaw.” His usually steady voice was laced heavily with emotion as the cream tom tried to find the right words. “I... I hope you can find a way to forgive me for not being able to find you and protect you.” A silent tear rolled from Elkheart’s eye. They might be the last cats alive from Duskclan. After such a long time he’d already given up hope on finding anyone from their clan. It wasn’t until earlier today his hope had started to grow again. He gave Creekpaw’s ear a comforting lick, he was sure the apprentice must’ve felt awful on his own as well. Living with the thought that everyone he knew probably had died. He was safe with them now and Elkheart would try everything in his power to make the young tom feel better.

Stormclaw watched the reunion between Elkheart and a young apprentice under the dusky brown she-cat's watch with widened eyes. He was sure that the reunion must feel good, to be reconciled with a cat you thought was long gone. His eyes shifted to the ground as he wondered what it feel like to be reconciled with his parents like that. But truth gnawed at the back of his mind. He'd seen their deaths first-hand, had buried them in the soil near their home. Once again his eyes narrowed at something only he could see, until a group of Horde members appeared in his vision. He nearly yowled out loud at the sight of them, before blinking and realizing it was only a hallucination. Growling under his breath, he suddenly got a slight feeling of closeness to these cats that had shared similar fates with him. He would stick with them no matter what, because it was what he had been predestined to do. Whether they knew it or not, they had a long road ahead of them, and would eventually have to rise to become a Clan bonded by strength and forged from time. But that would be then, and this was now. First, they had to find shelter, and in their way was the she-cat who stood defiantly in front of them. Suddenly, a thought entered his mind, a phrase his parents had told him before they vanished. You may find allies in places you've already seen, besides the waterfall. His eyes widened as he looked at the she-cat and her two apprentices, and his gaze snapped to the rogue as she began talking.

(Hey guys, sorry for the super late response. Things suddenly got really crazy around here, lol)
As the black she-cat who had been ahead of the group addressed her, Puma's eyes drifted around the group. The kittens caught her gaze right away, as did the tense stances of each cat. Keeping a tense stance of her own, she opened her mouth to reply, stopping only when she saw the flash of Creekpaw fly by her. As he ran toward the cream-colored tom, Puma bristled and a low rumbling noise arose from deep in her chest. Only when she realized that they weren't a threat did she force her fur to lay flat and relax her stance. Taking a step back, she felt Caylis creep up behind her. Puma lay her tail along the smokey kittypet's shoulders and finally spoke, "I have no quarrel with any of you. But it seems Creek knows you?" Turning her gaze to the tom whom she had seen earlier, she mewed flatly, "So you are someone."

The reunion between Creekpaw and Elkheart did nothing to change Ravenpaw's defensive stance, her icy blue eyes narrowed suspiciously at the trio before her. She wanted to let her guard down but it felt difficult after being through so much. Once Puma seemed to calm down, the black she-cat fluffed her fur up in an attempt to keep the kitten warm, pink nose twitching. "Is this your camp here? We have five hungry kits we need to feed and get warm, they're shivering bad. We can't keep them out in this cold," she mewed, glancing around. The hollowed log would be perfect for Mazie and the kits, as well as the others to keep them warm, provided one to two cats stayed on guard. They could gather moss from around the pool and in the gnarled roots of the trees around them to make nests. "We're also all hungry.." she trailed off, feeling a pang of irritation at the now spoiled game she had caught earlier that morning. Her blue gaze scanned the group of cats, willing one of them to agree with her or break the tension. Mazie needed to feed these kits and get food herself, hopefully they could do that without a fight.

Stormclaw cringed as Puma addressed him specifically, his eyes narrowing in irritation at the she-cat. Would the others be suspicious of him now that they knew he'd crossed paths with these opponents? Before he could address her, Ravenpaw told Puma what they were doing and what they needed. He could see that the young she-cat wanted to break the tension and get the kits to safety as soon as possible. Agreeing with her objective and suppressing his hot-headed tendencies, he said, "I am someone. Not of your busin-" He broke off as he remembered what his father had told him. And Stormclaw, you may find allies in places you've already seen, besides the waterfall. His eyes widened and he let out a slight gasp. There was no coincidence that the only other group of cats he'd seen today, the day he'd remembered the prophecy and talked to his parents for the first time in six moons, were now confronting the cats whose destinies were tied together. Realizing that eventually these cats would be his allies, he cleared his throat and said, "I am no one to you, as of now. We only wish to seek shelter and protect ourselves and these kits especially. There's no time for petty arguments." He looked behind Puma to see a log that would be enough shelter for the kits and the group. Mustering up a polite tone he said, "If we may, can we shelter in that log," he gestured to it with his tail, "so that these kits and ourselves don't freeze our tails off?"

(I forgot Caylis knows Creekpaw as Creek oops)
Caylis watched the group of cats with interest. Her bright yellow gaze turned to slits as she peered at Stormclaw. Something about him made her suspicious. He acted weird, just like he did when they first met. With Puma on her side the young she-cat felt brave enough to speak up. “How do you expect us to trust you when you’re acting all secretive? Don’t you want your companions to know you’ve clearly met us before?” She adressed Stormclaw, her tail swishing behind her. The tom’s attitude rubbed her the wrong way. After a short moment she eyed the other cats. “We’re looking for shelter as well. I guess if Creek trusts you, we will too. The log should be big enough to fit quite a few cats.” She could clearly see the kits were struggling in the cold. For their sake she’d put her distrust aside.
