I understand that people are sad that Friendship is Magic has ended, but there's STILL complaints from grown ass men telling Hasbro to "bring it back!" or "rewrite the finale episodes! It was shit!"
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic had nine seasons with several episodes, some even dedicated to the fans. It's been very successful and I'm sad to see it leaving too, but there's other things to watch.
I just think it's pathetic how grown ass men are still complaining about it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Kind of a rant I guess? Idk I'm not mad lol, but I think it's pathetic how grown adults are mad over a cartoon series while everyone else is dealing with much worse shit right now. It's just a cartoon, guys.
I am a huge MLP:FiM myself, and I actually still need to catch up with season 9. I'm okay with it ending though because I noticed some of the mane six were becoming... out of character.

I think I stopped watching MLP around... Equestria Girls? Whatever it was called? I wasn't even AWARE that it had multiple seasons, or that it ended, or that people other than my sister and I watched it. I want to catch up, but school. :/

I enjoy Sunset Shimmer the most, which is probably why people loved it in the first place.

I actually liked the last episode. I also really liked the song "The Magic of Friendship Grows" or whatever it was called.
Also, there is a season 10 in the comics. I don't read the comics, but it does exist.

Bronies have always been the biggest and most obnoxious part of the show.
Like its fine to like it, but not everything needs to cater to them! They aren't the intended demographic and over and over again I just see them overall disrespecting the creators or fans it is intended for, or making the shows fanbase straight up unsafe for children. Its disgusting and obscene. And mostly why I refuse to be too vocal about how much I do love the show because I dont want to be associated with *them*.
I havent gotten to the finale yet. So I cant form an opinion on it but if its anything like other fans (game of thrones comes to mind) theyre not the directors, so if they want it done better write a freakin fanfic ending for it your darn self and quit harassing people.

I don't mind discussing opinions about the characters but I stay out of the fandom for the most part because I heard it's so bad. I love FiM just as much as everyone else does but it's ridiculous how they attack the creators. Hasbro actually made an episode that made fun of the fandom and their behavior. It's pretty funny.

I never fully watched the last ~3-ish seasons except for clips, yeah we definitely don't need to Bring It Back. You could tell by the end they were running out of ideas.
The only thing I would agree with would be about changing Twilight and Spike's final designs... Twlight didn't need to turn into a celestia recolor (she would have been fine being Cadance's height or even a little shorter?) and Spike... oh man spike.. oooof.

I think I watched the first season of mlp before moving onto bigger and better things like scooby doo, and I never got why people were obsessed with it

I only watched like....the first two or three seasons maybe? It was cute, I guess, nothing super amazing, hence why I didn't continue w it. I think bronies are fine, we shouldn't limit interests by gender, mostly you just gotta be cognizant of who the actual intended audience of the show is.
But there definitely emerged an entitled subset of the fandom who thought it should start catering to them (as adults), which was really dumb. In general, the fandom centered episodes (which I know about mostly cause they became a topic of discussion among fans of the show and I somehow know quite a few bronies/"pegasisters"? so I kind of vicariously experienced them) seemed super cringy. I feel like the showrunners are also a bit to blame for things tbh cause they also lost track of the fact that they were supposed to be making a show for little girls.
A similar thing happened with the adult fans of Steven Universe though, I don't think MLP is the lone offender here. Also the PPG reboot, but there the problem was more entitled adult creators than the fans, I think p much all the fans knew it was awful.
Also a 9 season run is a really long run I had no idea it went on for so long I thought it ended like 3 seasons ago lol. I wouldn't be surprised if the last few seasons began to dip in quality, you run out of ideas at some point.

The last few seasons were definitely running out of good quality ideas. Lessons were becoming repetitive and some characters were becoming OOC, so I was pretty glad it ended or it would've been worse.

There was an episode that really bothered me how Rainbow Dash and Applejack were competitive again (just like how they were in season 2) about who's the best teacher and one of their students, Yona, fell into the river and was drowning. AJ and RD just stood there watching Yona drown which pissed me off. The real Applejack would've saved her in a heartbeat but in this episode she just stood back and watched. :/
Pinkie Pie was also becoming a jerk, because she didn't like Maud's boyfriend and was a huge hypocrite because she judged him for liking sticks when Maud herself liked rocks and even Starlight Glimmer pointed that out. She didn't feel like Pinkie Pie to me, she just felt like an asshole.
So I'm kind of glad they didn't make any more than ten seasons because many of them were quickly going downhill, at least IMO. I also noticed after Twilight got her wings, the ponies began to act more like ponies rather than humans but that's not really what bothered me.
Some of the recent episodes have been great, like Fluttershy and Angel switching bodies, but a lot of them really went downhill and it was clear they were running out of ideas so it was time for the show to go for sure. Season 8 wasn't my favorite season (except the princess episodes of Luna and Celestia lol).

I actually have no problem with Alicorn!Twilight but I understand why people don't like her after getting her wings. She lost a lot of her good humor and stopped focusing on magic but I don't really mind.. she's one of my favorites and always will be.

I started watching the mlp reboot in middleschool when it was coming out. So I wasnt too far off the intended dmographic at the time.
But the humanized polies in highschool and alicorn twilight really made it drop off for me. It didnt really make sense and felt forced, even back then.
I still want to finish it just to say I finally finished it but im currently rewatching pokemon and dragon ball to catch up so a show that already ended isnt priority for me.

i remember watching the premiere when i was like. 5. had no idea it went on so long It's been going on since 2012! It recently ended a few months ago, and now there's a new series called "Pony Life", although it's not as well written as FiM.

i remember trying the show back in like 2014 because so many forum friends raved about it and i just. didnt see the appeal as a teenager.
the only thing i really remember about MLPFIM is the discourse around twilight sparkle getting wings or smth

kitters I think one of the biggest reasons I will never get around to re-watching and catching up with MLP is because of Spike's new design.

I liked mlp up until around season 5 I think? I wasn’t a fan of the way it was going and the bronies were so awful I didn’t have much incentive to stay in the fandom. it’s sad bc it was a really cute show

@bristleleaf never said there was anything wrong with adults watching cartoons. that'd actually be pretty hypocritical of me given how much i love Over the Garden Wall lol I was just tryna say that while it's perfectly okay as an adult to like something intended for children, there is a problem when some adult fans try to rebrand the thing as "actually good enough to be adult media" instead of just acknowledging that it's both children's media AND good media. For some reason some people do not seem to understand that these things can overlap. And then if they either demand the creators make the media more adult, or get upset about kids being in fandom spaces (that were meant to be for kids to begin with), it's just really unpleasant, and I definitely saw that happening with MLP :/
I think some of these overinvested adult fans are probably the people you're complaining about who can't get over the ending.

I think some of these overinvested adult fans are probably the people you're complaining about who can't get over the ending. They were definitely whining about how the ending wasn't good enough and it should be rewritten. I never really saw the ending myself but from what I heard from other fans/reviewers it's not as bad as the others say it is so they're probably just trolls who have nothing better to do but complain about a show meant for 5 year olds :/ and I just think it's really stupid. Not trying to be judgy but it also doesn't help how these people are grown ass men. My bad for the misunderstanding. But thanks for being mature about it.
