Pearmoon's whiskers drooped a little at Milo's sad demeanor. "Oh.. It must be hard for her, having kits, and being stared at by the clan for having them at her age, with a rogue. I'm sure she doens't mean to hurt you. Maybe she's just scared of what others are saying." She meowed thoughtfully and returned her glance to Milo. "What if we went out to catch a nice juicy piece of prey and you brought it to her and the kits? Maybe she'd like that and then you can talk a little too. After today she'll be all alone in the nursery, since Snowfeather's moving out. I'm sure she'll appreciate the company." The warrior suggested. She hoped the two of them could make it work, it would be nice for either of them to have someone to lean on in this situation.

Sandfeather laid her head on her paws, unsure of how to answer Palerose’s question. She could either reply how she normally would to her brother, Mudfoot, and tell her that everything’s fine and the battle didn’t bother her. Or she could be honest with Palerose, which wouldn’t hurt. “I’m fine,” she finally mewed, “I worry about my brother, that’s all..” Sandfeather finished and trailed off. “What about you, how are you?”

“Great! We can try to catch her a starling after the apprentice ceremonies.” Pearmoon smiled, glad that the tom seemed to cheer up at her suggestion. “So, did you meet any other cats yet? Most of them should be here by now, I can help you with names if you want.” She glanced around the clearing, watching warriors walk by or sit and talk.

Wolfstar arrives back and camp and nods his head to Mudfoot. He heads to his cabin and leaps up on the counter. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join me near the leader's den!"
"I would never." Snowfeather mewed. She perked up when Wolfstar arrived and called for a meeting. "Looks like it's time!"

She could either reply how she normally would to her brother, Mudfoot, and tell her that everything’s fine and the battle didn’t bother her. Or she could be honest with Palerose, which wouldn’t hurt. “I’m fine,” she finally mewed, “I worry about my brother, that’s all..” Sandfeather finished and trailed off. “What about you, how are you?” Palerose felt like Sandfeather was holding something back but she didn't want to push because it was likely about the battle and she avoided talk about clan politics because it made clan relations messy. "I'm good. And I can understand worrying about family. Especially since Mudfoot is Deputy." She shifted her weight and sighed. Then perked up when Wolfstar called a meeting. She looked at Sandfeather giving her a questioning look to see if the other would take lead. Parsleypatch got out of her thoughts as Wolfstar called a meeting. She padded toward him and cat a little bit away making sure she wasn't in the front to not anger Snowfeather. She smiled and wrapped her tail around her paws at the high energy of the clan. |

“Hmm. Some clanmates will hold a grudge. But others just need to warm up to you. I’m sure that once you get to know a few it’ll get better.” Pearmoon meowed, her tailtip twitching eagerly as she watched Wolfstar head towards his den. “Me too! We have a lot of good warriors open to mentor. But I guess we’re going to find out.” She smiled and gestured for Milo to follow her as she stood up and made her way closer to the counter where Wolfstar called from. With her green gaze she looked expectantly at the leader.

Poppyfall searched for Thundershade in the crowd and settled down next to him, purring softly. She almost felt the urge to lean against the black tom but she decided against it.

Scorchtail beamed at Wolfstar’s long awaited words. He herded Rosekit and Shellkit towards Snowfeather so they could sit next to their mother while listening to the leader. He sat down on the other side of them.

Shellkit could hardly wait but she kept her emotions contained while she sat up straight, waiting to be called forward. Though it was clear her whiskers trembled with excitement. With her parents and sister close near her, it almost felt like they were a perfect family again.

"Today, is a special day. Today two kits will now become apprentices. From this moment on until you gain your warrior name, Rosekit you will be known as Rosepaw and Shellkit you will be known as Shellpaw. Lightingwhisper you will mentor Rosepaw and Parleypatch you will mentor Shellpaw. I hope you both pass on all you know to your apprentices." Wolfstar said feeling proud of his choices.
Lightingwhisper blinked a little surprised and steps forward to touch her nose to Rosekit. "I will do my best." She mutters mostly to herself.
Snowfeather twitches her nose not a fan of Parleypatch mentoring Shellpaw. However, she couldn't really say anything.

Parsleypatch blinked in surprise as Wolfstar named her mentor of Shellpaw. She stepped forward and touched noses with the new apprentice. "Congratulations on your new name she whispered." She looked up at her leader and beamed. She could feel Snowfeather's eyes burrowing into her fur and shivered. She thought about how awkward it was that she was talking to and pursuing her apprentice's father. She waited for her clanmates to start cheering for the apprentices so she could cheer along.

Shellpaw touched her nose to her new mentor's, her eyes sparkling with determination. She nodded her thanks to Parsleypatch and proudly gazed around as the clan chanted their new names.

Scorchtail's ears perked up as Parsleypatch was appointed to mentor one of his kits. He couldn't have chosen better himself! His whiskers twitched with approval and he proudly chanted the new names of his kits. It was going to be great to see the two of them learn to become warriors. He glanced over at Snowfeather for a moment and he offered her a smile, surely she was as proud of them as he was.

Snowfeather looks over to see Scorchtail looking at her and smiling. She couldn't help but smile back at him. Least, she could count on Scorchtail to be there for their kits. Despite what she was feeling, he had the type of smile that was infectious.

Parselypatch purred as she cheered on Shellpaw and Rosepaw. She felt a rush of pride and enthusiasm for being named a mentor. She forced herself not to look over at Scorchtail and Snowfeather hoping not to break the happy air of the day.

Mudfoot cheered for the young apprentices, for how excited they have been, he knew it was a big moment for them. He glanced over to Wolfstar and dipped his head in respect.
Sandfeather cheered for the new apprentices as well, taking a moment to congratulate them.

Pearmoon and Poppyfall made their way to the new apprentices, congratulating them with their new names and chatting to them shortly before making way for the other cats who gathered around.

Shellpaw enjoyed all the attention they were getting and was thankful for the well-wishes, though she knew it wasn't all play. Soon she had to really work and she had been looking forward to it for a long time. "When do we start?" She asked Parsleypatch, her excitement thinly hidden by her sparkling green eyes.

"Look at them, almost all grown up huh." Scorchtail purred as he sat closer to Snowfeather. "Can you believe they used to be as small as a freshly caught mouse?" He didn't have a good conversation with the she-cat in a while and even though they had parted ways as mates, he still cared about her. Hopefully she knew that.

Parsleypatch with Shellpaw
Parsleypatch had been cheering with the others while they called out Rosepaw and Shellpaw's names. When the apprentice asked what the were going to do she realized she didn't have much of a clue how to mentor. "I thought you might like to spend time with your family. But if you want to start already we can take a walk through the territory and I can teach you how to distinguish scents from one another." She said trying to sound confident. "But I don't want to take time from your family on your special day unless you truly want to start." She really just didn't want to anger Snowfeather.
Palerose with Sandfeather
Palerose cheered with the rest of them. When things calmed down she looked at Sandfeather. "What's it like to mentor?" She asked curiously.
(I read on the front page that she is a mentor if that's no longer the case then she asked if she'd like to go hunting.)

Sandfeather listened to Palerose’s question before taking a moment to think, as she was never prepared for a question like that. “It’s hard work, especially at first. And then they start to grow on you, in my opinion anyways, All I mean is it can be tough but I think it’s worth it,” Sandfeather replied to the warrior in front of her. (No worries! She overhears Parleypatch and speaks out to her. "We could always celebrate later. You can go ahead and explore the territory."

Shellpaw shot her mother a thankful glance and jumped to her paws. She was excited to learn and while she went out with her mentor, Snowfeather and Scorchtail could talk and hopefully everything would be okay again when she got back. Maybe they'd even fall in love again, who knew! She waited patiently for Parsleypatch to show her the way.

Scorchtail nodded. "It's going to be quite something to see them follow their own paths from now." He commented, giving a little wave goodbye with his tail at the newly appointed apprentices. "Are you excited to return to warrior duties again?"

Palerose listened to Sandfeather's answer and took a moment before responding. She knew that she herself was still too young to get an apprentice. She smiled. "I bet it is tough. Especially if the apprentice is rowdy." She smiled again.
Parsleypatch had been looking at Shellpaw. And when Snowfeather spoke she shot her a smile. She expressly hadn't wanted to make Snowfeather angry since she and Scorchtail were starting to develop a relationship. It seemed maybe Shellpaw wasn't aware of this as she was still a kit. Parsleypatch hoped that she wouldn't find out and grow to resent her. She smiled at Shellpaw and nodded toward the forest. "Let's go. I'll show you some of my favorite places." She said kindly. She felt no discomfort around the apprentice who was apparently still hoping her parents would get back together. She started leading her towards a small pond at the edge of the forest where she liked to swim and fish. She knew from scents that other cats knew it was there but had never shown it to anyone. "This is my favorite place to come when I'm feeling down. I've never showed anyone else this place." She said hoping to bond with Shellpaw.
