"Oh." Tall Grass sighed softly. He wondered what that was about, he didn't like feeling left out but he was sure the Moon-Hunter had his reasons. His amber gaze travelled over to Swiftkill. She didn't look comfortable in their camp at all. "I hope it won't be trouble." He commented as he reached over to lick the fur on his back, flattening the rough edges.

White Crane looked at Rumbling Thunder a little nervously before settling down beside Swiftkill, leaving Tall Grass to his own thoughts. "What is the Clan like? I hear your young cats have mentors to teach them instead of mothers." He whispered quietly, giving Swiftkill a hopeful look that she would respond, but would understand if she snapped at him.
"Playing dumb is just going to waste both of our times." Maplestar tried to hold back a growl and it came out low and soft. He sat down, trying to make himself look calm.

Swiftkill looked over at the young cat and saw his fearful expression. She couldn’t guess his age, he was small but his eyes were aware in away most kit’s weren’t. Her boys would’ve been bigger than him no doubt. She curled her tail tightly round herself at the thought and looked away. “Yes, they choose what they’d like to become and train with the help of an older cat.” She stared out of the cave mouth, heart aching. “But their mothers can still have pivotal roles in their lives.”
Sky Wise looked to Maplestar, his relaxed and cheery demeanor dropping. “I don’t care what this she-cat told you. You and your lackeys are going to turn around, go back and plant your tails in the sand like the stubborn little roots you are.”
“By the look of her, she wasn’t going to last very long in that place anyway.” Sky Wise commented and though he was shorter he managed to look down his nose at the clan leader. “Withering away both body and soul. That’s what that life you’ve chosen does to you. Doesn’t help when your heavy with kits either. I’d say theirs good reason they didn’t survive.”
Sunstone snarled at the group of rouges, his fur standing on end as he gauged those gathered. They could take them, they were all shorter than the three clan cats. Expect that fluffy she-cat beside the one speaking but he could take her.

(imagine Sunstone vs Hollow Moon in a shouting match lmaaooo)
"I was adopted by the Wanderers, I don't have a mother here." White Crane crouched low and curled his tail around himself. "No one has taught me to hunt yet, they mostly leave me sitting around with the older guides. Do you think you'll be a runner, guide, or a hunter now that you've joined us?" he wasn't aware she was a prisoner, he thought she was willingly joining the Wanderers, like loners often did.
"We're not going to do so. You don't even own the land you hunt on, so you have no authority to tell us to leave it." Maplestar said. "You say that like she didn't leave willingly." he snarled. His claws sank into the ground when Sky Wise mentioned the kits. He looked at Sunstone, everything in him also wanted to fight, to claw Sky Wise's smug face off. "I will not leave until I hear from Swiftkill herself that she is willing to stay." he said, sitting stubbornly.

"If you think SteppeClan cats are so good at planting our tails in the sand like roots, then I will make roots like the mountains and wait. What can your winds do to the mountains?" Maplestar said, pulling from lines of wisdom he once heard Frostwhisper say. "What can your winds do to the stars? No, I will never join with you, but I will allow Swiftkill to if I hear that decision from her own mouth."
White Crane's eyes brightened and opened wide. "Really? You would?" he looked at her hopefully, now acting uncharacteristically kit-like. "Could you teach me something now?"

Swiftkill looked from the kit to the mouth of the cave. Rumbling Thunder watched the interaction intently silently urging her to stay, to accept this life. It would be so much easier.
Swiftkill finally looked down at the young tom with a soft exhale. “Sure kit.” She gestured for Rumbling Thunder to give them some space. The tom happily obliged but positioned himself between them and the exit. Swiftkill grit her teeth and breathed through her nose.
“Okay first things first, let’s practice a pounce.” Looking around Swiftkill spotted a stone and placed it a reasonable distance from White Crane. She then joined him at his side. “What you must do is square your paws, it will help when you direct yourself.” Swiftkill demonstrated by standing, her paws all facing straight forward and lined directly under her shoulders and hindquarters.
Sky wise snorted at Maplestar his tail tip flicking in an almost condescending manner. “And why would you think Swiftkill would want to see your face again?” He gave the other tom a haughty look. “You’re lucky she wants to be all nice and give you the cold shoulder, I remember breaking her heart once, she nearly clawed my eyes out for it.” He gave a merrow of laughter at the toms forced civility. “As for your nice little metaphor, you see,” here the silver tom stepped forward a nasty snarl on his face. “My winds will bring a storm the likes of which will cause even a mountain to tremble and block out the star’s till all you know is darkness and despair.”

White Crane watched her intently as she placed the stone. He gave a curious glance to Rumbling Thunder, sensing he was keeping guard but not knowing why. "Square my paws?" he stood with his paws evenly apart, then looked at her paws and smiled when he was standing the same way she was. "Okay." he nodded.
(good thing he's learning from the best hunter in SteppeClan lol)
"That depends on how she feels." Maplestar replied. "And I'm not going to take your word for it. If you took her unwillingly she would be glad to see her Clanmates again, but if she's joined you willingly then the least bit of courtesy she could give us is to tell us herself." Maplestar huffed. You have no idea how long I've been getting the cold shoulder, but she wouldn't just disappear on her Clan. He heard words in his mind, and repeated them out loud but they didn't feel like his. "The sun, the moon, and the stars are what create the winds, storms, and tides." he said, assuming this was some ancient guide knowledge. "They move as the stars will them." he shook his head. "I'm not here to debate between our cultures. If you're not going to fetch Swiftkill then fight me here."

White Crane was watching with interest and he crouched down when she did. He shuffled his paws awkwardly, the crouching position felt a little strange since he wasn't used to it. He started to take a step with a hind paw then pushed himself up with his forepaws, frowning for a moment that that was not what she meant. He crouched down again. He leaned his weight forward onto his forepaws and started stalking forward, looking down and back at his paws to see they were still squared properly.

"The guides say skill always comes with lots of practice." White Crane said, standing up, squaring his paws, and then crouching again. He shifted his weight to his hind paws and stalked a few paces towards the rock, before leaping in a sloppy pounce and smacking the rock into a skid across the floor. He gave a mrrow of amusement though knowing it was a mistake.
Maplestar stood, his tail lashing back and forth in the air again. He glanced to Hollow Moon, knowing the fight would be more even if he fought her instead of letting her attack one of his Clanmates. But he was being challenged leader-to-leader, so he rushed forward into a crouch and struck at Sky Wise with a strong paw, claws unsheathed.

Hollow Moon's tail was lashing back and forth too, she only gave a brief glance at Sunstone and trained her eyes mostly on Maplestar. The only thing holding her back from leaping on Maplestar was that she knew deep down Sky Wise wanted a fair duel.
Maplestar sprang forward and rushed at Sky Wise while the other tom was still speaking. He didn't care for whatever taunts Sky Wise might say, chasing the tom and hooking his claws into the smaller tom's shoulder.

Maplestar hissed in pain and rolled to the side, pushing himself back up into a crouch. He kept low, his large size meaning his was still the same height as Sky Wise that way, but it protected his underbelly, where opponents often tried to strike at him. "You fight like rogues too." he huffed
