i'm going to have characters in WindClan as well as SkyClan for now, and i think i'm going to keep it to two characters in each Clan? unless we need more. i'm working on them now, i'll post in a second.

So.. Are we going to alternate back and forth with leaders? So when our leaders finally die, the deputy becomes leader, then one of our characters becomes deputy. Or is that hogging it too much?

Rain, if you don't mind me interjecting, i think that it all depends on the actual roleplay. i think that might be a good idea - to keep leadership in the hands of the people we know and trust - but if there's someone who we think would make a good leader, we can break the cycle for them. does that make sense?

I would feel more comfortable knowing that that was the case as opposed to letting someone random show up and become deputy/leader and potentially run the clan into the ground.
*EDIT* I agree with Scar. Knowing and trusting someone else who isn't a secondary would be good. I'm thinking any of the secondaries, regardless of whether or not they second the clan we run, should be able to ascend to leadership at somepoint.

But the deputy doesn't always have to be the secondary. Someone who is just a member can be. Was I implying that? I'm also good with breaking the cycle, though maybe either a mod or the main leader should at least have a high rank if that makes sense?
That sounded quite sassy rereading that. The "Was I implying part" wasn't meant as: YOU GUYS ARE TWISTING MY WORDS! It was a legit question. xD

I think... perhaps, the secondary should usually be deputy? Like we alternate unless there is another member who is rightfully deserving of the position? Does that make sense?

I'm just super worried that someone would get the position and just stop showing up and then we'd have to switch things around :/

I'm speaking for myself and no one has to do what I do. I will admit, I'm quite paranoid with it not turning out how I'd like. Which is why I refer to myself as a leaderzilla because I try to set up stuff to prevent issues. I typically choose trusted members or moderators to be deputies. And really, anyone can end up not showing up one day and we'll eventually have to cross that bridge when we get there. It's also why the penalty systems are set up as well as us having potential default side plots/explanations as to why a character is no longer there.
And when we open, I kinda expected us to all have either a temporary character in the deputy position then they retire or die, or even a leader, and when that happens, we'll have actual deputies. That way it's not odd for all of us to not have deputies and yet the position is still technically open. I know I keep asking, but I'm still a little jumbled and I have to really focus when I type so it sounds okay, so am I still making sense?

Yup total sense, and yeah. I'm thinking Fall should have a temporary "deputy" character up– someone who is old, or a former deputy who had to retire or something to the elders den? That way the position is "filled" but not really. They'll step down as soon as it's necessary though, so Stormtrail can take over later.

> WindClan Characters <
{ ♀ } - - { Ferntail | 32 moons { Ferntail is a long, lithe, light brown she-cat with soft green eyes. She is not solid brown, rather, she has a lighter brown muzzle and chest, which is hardly noticeable. She also has a darker brown tail tip and ear tips, but those are also hard to see unless one is looking for them. Her fur is very short, but rather soft, and her eyes glint like they can see past the cat she's looking at, and into their soul. Her body build, besides being rather skinny and long, is average; her muscles aren't too large nor to small, she's not short nor tall, and she doesn't have many distinguishing features, besides her eyes. Other than that, her tail is a bit long for her body; hardly noticeable, but it gives her an advantage for balance - meaning she's decent at climbing, though she doesn't necessarily need to. She appears quiet and wise, and often intimidating to those who don't know her well. { Scarpath
{ ♂ } - - { Pebblepaw | 9 moons { Pebblepaw is a short, small, black-and-white splotched tom with amber eyes. His pelt is medium in length, and you can often find some kind of burr or thorn stuck in it. His pelt is mainly white - distinguishing spots are the one that covers a good part of his head and completely covers one ear, and another large spot that spreads across his right haunch. He has a scar on his right foreleg; he forgets where he got it, but it must've been from goofing around and snagging on a thorn or other sharp plant. His ears are a bit too big for his head, giving him a funny-looking body, overall. His legs are very short, and his whole body is rather small, which gives him a disadvantage hunting on WindClan's territory, because he's not very fast. Despite being short, his body is rather thin, and the beginnings of hard muscles can be seen underneath his medium length, splotched pelt.
{ Scarpath
> SkyClan Characters <
{ ♂ } - - {Ravenstorm | 49 moons
{ Ravenstorm is a dark gray tom with glinting amber eyes. His pelt is short, and if you're not close enough to him, you might see him as being completely black. His body is typical of a SkyClan cat - thick, strong back legs for jumping and a long, thin tail for balance. His ears are large, and his muzzle is long and narrow, and his expression is usually one of disapproval. He has many scars - probably from scraps with trespassing loners or rogues, maybe other battles as well. His largest scar crosses his right hindleg, starting at his haunch and ending halfway down his leg. He also has a nicked left ear, along with a scar on his right cheek, and a few more scattered here and there. He carries himself in a manner of an important cat, as if he's looking down on the ones he crosses; and this is only exaggerated by his firm muscles, usually stony expression, and hard eyes.
{ Scarpath
{ ♀ } - - { Bumblepaw | 12 moons
{ Bumblepaw is a very large, thick, gray tabby she-cat with light blue eyes. Her pelt is long and thick, light gray with darker gray stripes in a classic tabby pattern. She has the typical tabby markings on her face, as well. Her underbelly is lighter gray than the rest of her body, and her blue eyes tend to blend in with the rest of her pelt, and are not a distinguishing feature. Keeping her long pelt well-groomed is a task, but she does it quite effortlessly. She is large for her age, with long legs and muscles that are developing quite well during her training, especially in her hind legs. Her tail is also longer than the average cat, even for SkyClan, and is a fluffy plume sticking off of her body, which is good for balancing. Despite her size, she does not appear menacing - in fact, her expression is mostly naive and clueless, making it easy for other cats to approach her. { Scarpath

sorry, i was busy making that. does everything seem okay so far? it's not as fancy as some of yours, but i quite like what i've come up with for my characters. i believe i had to make a medicine cat apprentice, too, which i completely forgot until now - what Clan was that for? i'll figure it out and whip up a character. Bumblepaw is close to being made a warrior, i believe.
Rain, i totally understand, and "leaderzilla" would describe me too, honestly. so yeah, i think keeping the power (leadership, secondary leadership, deputies, maybe even medicine cats?) in the hands of a select amount of people is a good idea. you're making perfect sense, and the idea is a really good one.

Yep! Medicine cats as well. I typically make them a moderator or trusted member if they become a deputy or medicine cat. But the power would remain in moderators and admins. Should I specify who would typically be a moderator?
I just remembered this. Make sure you don't make a bunch of apprentices because we're probably going to get swarmed with them and the limit is ten per Clan for obvious reasons. xD
I think your cats are perfectly fine, Scar!

shoot, i was gonna only have two apprentices, but i forgot about the med cat apprentice. wait... if i'm doing the med cat apprentice thing for SkyClan (which i'm pretty sure i am?), Bumblepaw can be the apprentice chosen to train. that way i don't make too many apprentice characters, and still get to keep the ones i have.
if you want to specify who is a moderator, that would be great!

How I do it, I consider deputies, medicine cats, and medicine cat apprentices moderators. Of course if a trusted member proves to be trustworthy enough to help run the Clan if the admin (original leader) is absent, then they become a mod. I'm not expecting many, maybe five per Clan on average. Depends on how certain people are.
Considering they'll be a medicine cat fast, don't worry about it. We can make an exception. :3

oh wow, that's more mods than i thought there would've been. but okay, sounds good!
also, Bumblepaw will be the medicine cat apprentice. all of my other characters, from now on, will be warriors. i think i'm going to stick to WindClan and SkyClan right now, but i might branch off, depending on what i feel like at the time. i don't intend on making many more, if any at all, but does someone want to give me a limit? because if i'm in the mood, i will go overboard, ahaha.

I think the limit is eight per clan? Or is it eight in general?

The limit is eight cats per Clan and I think four prefix claims per Clan.
Well, we can always have less and more and it's not like someone will automatically get the position as moderator.
I'll probably join Thunder with two cats since I'm secondary and that's about it for now.

|
|
Post by Scarpath on Aug 15, 2016 0:04:04 GMT -5
maybe i'm dumb, but what do you mean by "prefix claims"?
i'll probably have eight at most to start off with, but i'm thinking about sticking to those four for now.

Post by Deleted on Aug 15, 2016 0:07:22 GMT -5
You're not dumb Scar. It's okay X3
It's where you claim the prefix for your warrior's names.
For Example; I claim the prefix Ember so no one else can use that prefix that way there is no double prefix.
I have no idea if that made sense or not.
